She hasn’t caught any yet, but she sees/hears them scurrying in the bushes and is actively hunting them, as cats will. That’s one of the reasons I started walking her every day, to be a cat, and not some half-crazy captive. I asked about the process, and they start with a 72 hour hold to see if a stray may belong to someone, then they do an evaluation and put them up for adoption. I figure that kitten is about 6 months old. Very friendly to people, and had no fleas or other apparent problems other than a little skinny (wasn’t interested in the food dish, though). I think Maggs would eventually get along with her. There was some low level hissing and moaning on both sides, but they were both comfortable enough to take naps that afternoon. 2 cats?!?!?!? I ended up taking that immature black kitten home and calling up the local shelter to come and get her. While she was here, Maggs was none too pleased, but put up with it. It was a sweet cat. The very next day we ran into that mature black cat in the woods…. I’m guessing the mother, maybe? Maggs just crept right up to her. If you listen closely, you can hear the yowling, but Maggs never backed up. When it starts to react with other elements, that extra hydrogen atom is let go, creating hydrogen gas. That can build up, and is highly combustible.
