Calvert is in the office now … feel free to use all the language you want with this one.

Tell Calvert to Clean Up His Mess

By now, you’ve heard of that Texas Republican, Joe Barton, who apologized to British Petroleum for the inconvenience of having to answer tough questions about their oil spill.

But what you may not know is that Congressman Ken Calvert is one of Barton’s top allies – receiving $4000 just this year from Barton’s “leadership” fund. And no wonder: Calvert and Barton are best buddies when it comes to standing up for Big Oil.
Already in this election, Calvert has taken $16,725 from the oil and gas industry — with a lifetime total of a huge $187,374 from the industry. That’s more than any other current member of Congress from California.

It’s simply outrageous. It’s plain to see where Calvert’s loyalty lies.

When I was a first grade teacher, I always told my students, “If you make a mess, you clean it up.”

Clearly, this is a lesson that Ken Calvert, Joe Barton, and their Big Oil buddies never learned.

Today I’m calling on Ken Calvert to redeem himself to the American people by donating $20,725 — all of the oil-slicked money he’s taken this election — to one of the many organizations that are helping restore the small businesses and communities of the Gulf Coast. He’s been a champion for Big Oil in Congress, and as a result of his policies of less oversight and less accountability, we’ve got a mess. And Ken Calvert should do his small part to help clean it up.

Click here to add your name to a petition that I will personally deliver to Ken Calvert. Stand up and help us hold Calvert and his Big Oil buddies accountable.

Sincerely,

Bill

This is the view from the right … from the 44th in CA
Funny how they never want to cut military spending
or talk about how the bush tax cuts started us on this downward spiral.

Dear Neighbor,

Last week Speaker Pelosi and the House Leadership passed yet another bailout for banks, H.R. 5297 sponsored by Chairman Frank. The Democrats sold the legislation under the auspices of helping small businesses but the funds will be made available to financial institutions with no requirement that the banks are stable and no guarantee that the lending will increase credit availability to small businesses.

TARP III would create a $30 billion lending fund and authorize the Treasury Secretary to make capital investments in banks with less than $10 billion in assets. Our economy does not need another bank bailout, especially when TARP I and II proved that infusing funds into banks does not result in increased availability of credit for small businesses. Right now, small businesses need certainty in the tax code and a reduction in regulatory burdens. According to a recent survey by the National Federation of Independent Business, 8% of small businesses cited lack of credit as an immediate problem but more than 50% cited a lack of sales as the immediate problem.

Furthermore, American taxpayers cannot afford another bailout. With our debt obligations totaling more than $118,000 per taxpayer, it is irresponsible to pass another $30 billion in spending. Additional debt will hurt investors and consumers alike, making it even more difficult for small businesses to see growth in sales. It is time to end the spending-frenzy, freeze non-essential defense and homeland security spending, and get the U.S. back on track to fiscal sanity.

I want to know what unnecessary spending items YOU would cut. Visit YouCut today and cast your vote to cut the budget or participate in an open forum at

Bingo boomer,
Or do you think she may come back later and say
‘My child is sick because of the oil we need to sue!’
It’s kinda like letting your child play in traffic
and getting mad at the car that hits them.
Where is your brain lady?

Has anyone talked about this yet?

California is headed for another showdown over greenhouse gases.

A citizen’s ballot initiative approved Tuesday could suspend AB32, the state’s landmark 2006 law mandating a 25 percent reduction in industrial greenhouse gases by 2020.

Backed by manufacturers and Texas oil companies Valero Energy Inc. and Tesoro Corp., the ballot initiative would halt enforcement of the law until California unemployment, now at over 12 percent, sinks to 5.5 percent for at least a year. The “California Jobs Initiative,” as it is called, is necessary to protect Californians from financial hardship at a time when they can ill afford it, its backers say.

Has anyone come across this info?
an update from Joey Racano

Joey Racano Operation Sunburst-Electrify the Debate!

The sea floor surrounding the well is being eroded by the leak, which is 1,000 feet below the sea bed. At some point, the sea floor will no longer support the weight of the pipe, which will collapse. The oil flow will then instantaneously go from 4.5 Million Gallons a day (new documents show this is the actual rate of leakage) to a number too large to measure. I call this event the ‘Big Burp’.

The gulf is lost and the best we can hope for is to save the Atlantic (and that will be severely damaged as well). So the best thing to concentrate on is seizing the moment, the only oil company weak moment in history. One good way to proceed would be to all make reservations to the World Oceans Conference later this year in Long Beach Calif. And go there with the plan of educating the leaders that addressing ocean water quality must be done on land. That means remove the oil threat to our oceans by promoting electric cars/solar power as an ocean issue of world importance. Remember the 3 ‘W’s… War Warming, and Water Pollution. They all come from oil.
