Just cuz.

I have been attempting to explain this poem to a 10-year-old tonight. And it’s really cute:

“Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought —
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!’
He chortled in his joy.”

Oh, interesting. That looks like a private school. This is a public college in an area with a lot of poor people. The school is important for retraining programs for people who have lost their jobs in mills and mining, etc. A lot of these programs receive federal funding. This is dangerous stuff for them to be playing games with a public institution like this.

Remember I posted something about some shadowy right-wingers running for a Montana community college board…? Well, it turns out of their agendas is they don’t want the college taking federal grant monies.

Wait a minute, isn’t it kind of the job of a college board of trustees to look for funding sources for their school? What am I missing here?
