Huffington Post Goes NSA on Its Members

This was a wonderful article, AdLib, and mirrors some of my experience with HP.

I’ve been a member since 2008 but really didn’t get into posting until 2010, or just before it was bought by aol.

But I can remember Friday Night Tunes and all the FREEDOM and fun we used to have. But mainly the FREEDOM to say whatever you darn well liked without moderators cracking down.

And I specifically remember BRILLIANT posters like richmisty, who taught me so much about what was going on in the world and also how to post: Make your points and back them up with links.

Which is what I did until HP started cracking down on including links in your post.

Then all of a sudden Friday Night Tunes was over, no more adding music links to posts.

Then all of a sudden heavy moderation kicked in and I began shrinking what I wanted to say.

Then nasty, illiterate, rude, crude trollz began to appear everywhere, and some of those posts literally turned my stomach. But there were still plenty of beautiful posters.

But now this. Logging in by linking yourself to Facebook and opening yourself up to all sorts of horrible internet invasion of privacy. I don’t Facebook and I don’t Tweet and I have a flip phone. I try to minimize the ways corporations can get to me.

But this latest HP development makes me sad because I had such fun on HP and loved all the posters. For instance, I really miss BillLoney…… so many.

Anyway, GREAT article and so glad to find HP stragglers on various sites. We once had something wonderful but I can’t believe that this latest ploy won’t hurt HP terribly……..

Hey my friend! I guess HP has gone and done it for me too. But I’m so glad to find you here and to find other HP-ers at all-len-all.com/the-all-len-all-chat-room-2/ !! I think you gave me that link.

This is a great article “HP Goes NSA on Its Members” because it is true. It was once such a lovely free site with brilliant brilliant posters that taught me so much.

I will miss everyone but glad we can hook up here and there.
