Sally, that happens to me every time. All I know to do is to click “save draft” then Preview. When you preview it will look funky–no formatting. Go back to your draft and fix it to your liking. Hit Save Draft again; preview again and it should be almost there. Repeat up to 3 times. After that, it’ll be much better but never the way you really want it. At least, that’s my method.

Oh gee. Now I can only embed about half the YouTube vids, not even counting those ones that are Yo.uTube–even teh regular old-fashioned ones won’t embed. Me no like. Me sad.

There wasn’t but one button to press, but I think I pressed it. It actually gave me pause because I wanted to press a couple more buttons just to feel I’d accomplished something. It must have worked though, because the new photo is on my Twitter avi. If I don’t see it on PPOV by tomorrow, I’ll try again. At any rate, it doesn’t make any particular statement (not a political thing) just a more recent pic.

Kalima–you did WHAT with the pasta sauce? Well, that sounds bad, but I think I can top it: Last week I made several bowls of jello (which I rarely make but had a craving for). I had so many bowls I wisely decided to stack them on top of each other to save space in the refrigerator. Then I slammed the fridge door.

Have you ever tried to clean red jello off every surface of a refrigerator, along with all the other food, while it begins to gel?

It IS nice though, that the gas man is preventing a real calamity! Does he know you? (kidding, kidding!) 😀

Howdy! It may be coincidental, but I just cleared my cache and now I have no comment edit ability. And boy, do I rely on that feature–can’t type worth a damn! Can I have one again, please? 🙂

Bito, I had that same problem last week or the week before. AdLib suggested I clean my cache (which took about 5 minutes)and the problem was fixed. But I’d never seen that 400 message and the reference to the cookies before that happened. And it’s not happened at any other site, so I think the problem might not be only some of our browsers.

BTW, I get the same message for PPOV the other day, cleaned my cache, and it was fixed again.

AdLib, I meant to get back to you sooner to tell you that clearing my cache resolved the issue. Why do I always forget to do that?!

But having done that, I now have no ability to edit my comments on the threads. (no edit function in my comment box.) Any suggestions? Thanks!

This is weird. I can’t edit yesterday’s DP to put it in Speakers’ Corner. There is always an EDIT drop-down on the grey bar at the top of the page, but not today. There is a “Dashboard” in the menu but when I use that option, there is still no way to edit a previous post–in this case Vol 156. Can someone please put that post into Speaker’s Corner for me? Thanks!

Murph and AdLib, pardon me for interrupting, but Murph–I’m not sure you’re talking about the column named “Recent Posts” on the far left side of each page. The last entry in that column (right above the Donate to PlanetPOV heading) is 7 days old, so I don’t think that is the widget you think is moving too fast, is it? Are you maybe meaning another column–like “Recent Comments“?

Me again. I am getting a long stream of random text (looks like a news feed) on the Preview of DP vol 121. I don’t know what to do. Can someone please help? I have tomorrow’s edition ready to publish at 6 AM, but can’t edit the formatting. It is good to go as is–I’ve given up on making it look pretty– except for that unwanted text at the beginning of the post. Much appreciated!

I really hate to say this but the new version of WordPress is unbearably slow. The full screen toggle takes me to a barely functional full screen and the scrolling is jerky and careens wildly all over the page. It takes me easily twice as long to post, as there is a 2 second delay after each time I hit “enter” or backspace. Maybe it’s just me, but this is agony.

Oh, thanks so much, Kalima. You saved my otherwise awful day! It was my latest draft too–but I would have been grateful for even an earlier one. I always save every half hour, so when I saw the whole think gone, I had a meltdown.

I need some help before I freak out. I just saved a draft of tomorrow’s DP and it completely disappeared. Can anyone find the supposedly “saved” draft please? If not, I’ll just give up on it.

AdLib–no, I didn’t see the blue and red text that you put on the sidebar that has the live link. I figured there was no VP happening. I cleared my cache on Saturday, when I saw VP referenced and realized it had taken place. Don’t you also usually leave the link up on the sidebar the next day? Anyway, I went to live events because I wanted to read the conversation and it only showed some VP’s from back in January or something long ago. Here’s what it says right now:

AdLib, thanks. The Vimeo always worked for me, but the YouTube rarely. And I have yet to be able to embed ANY other video source (other than YouTube and Vimeo, that is). I have copied many an embed code, switched to HTML and all I get is about of foot of machine language on my posts. I even took an online tutorial from WordPress to see if I was doing it correctly and apparently I was–to no avail. So I have given up on embedding which only comes up occasionally–say, if I want to embed a Maddow or other video.
