I’d like to make a further point regarding the stealing issue:

When a company like Wallmart cuts prices to attract customers, they pass on that loss to their suppliers, whom they have in a choke hold.

If mass theft occurred, they’d likely do the same.

Only it doesn’t work without mass acknowledgement. People who steal generally don’t do so as a form of protest, they do it to get things.

I guess you’d have to factor in a few things:

~ Whether or not you’re stealing from the manufacturer or a seller.

~ What you’re stealing.

~ The price of the item.

~ Why you are stealing it.

~ Are you impulse stealing or have you thought more long-term.

Etc, etc, etc.

There was a guy on earlier essentially begging Europe and America to get involved, claiming that the situation is completely unlike the one in Egypt was.

Actually, it means that the difference between 0.999… – which continues ad infintum – and 1 is so negligible as to not actually exist.

They’re the same number.

The thing is that the proof above is actually true. It’s the proof of limits.

It’s how I explained limits to myself because my teacher knew nothing about maths except how to do the sums in the book.

OK, now for something that’ll confuse you:

1/3 = 0.333…, True
1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 = 1, True
0.333… + 0.333… + 0.333… = 0.999…, True

Therefore, 1 = 0.999…, QED

From this proof we can answer the following:

Question:
How many mathematicians does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

Answer:
0.999…
