She still wanted to pay for the art, so she gave me the option of collecting the money or that she would donate that same money to the Japanese Red Cross. I didn’t want to take any money if she wasn’t going to get the artwork, so I told her to make that donation, and that’s what she did. She says that I should give the painting away to somebody or just keep it. She suggested that I give it to Chernynkaya. I guess I could do that, but I don’t know where she lives. How about the theme of Water? During the summer months, so many of us head out to the beach or to the lake, or just sit around thinking of cool, cool rains… And there’s plenty of good songs that have to do with water. Several songs immediately spring to mind: “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head,” The Beatles’ “Rain,” “A Rainy Night In Georgia…” Just something to consider. Or if the theme of water seems too narrow, you could always expand it to include all four elements, Earth, Fire, Water, and Air. Mitt Romney was the subject of the night’s “Word” segment. Colbert really tore him up. So many people talk about “running the country like a business” as though that were a GOOD thing. I guess it depends on what kind of business we’re talking about. In most businesses, the head honchos make all the decisions, and the lowly workers have no say-so whatsoever, which is more of a dictatorship than a democracy. Plus, in most businesses, those workers are expendable… anything to fatten up that bottom line for the people at the top. That’s no business model that I’d like to see for our country. She had wanted me to paint it and ship it to her in India, but she changed her mind, and decided that she didn’t need the painting after all. She says that she has gone through some serious life changes. I can understand that. She says that she doesn’t need this painting anymore.
