Displaying 0 To 0 Of 0 Comments From a union worker family standpoint… And so it begins: And the R-Governor of WI wants to mobilize the National Guard? » Posted By Bluebird of Unhappiness On February 15, 2011 @ 2:16 pm Excellent post. Of course there are bad unions. But more and more, they look refreshingly noble when compared to corporations. “And what have our unions done? What do they aim to do? To improve the standard of life, to uproot ignorance and foster education, to instill character, manhood and independent spirit among our people; to bring about a recognition of the interdependence of man upon his fellow man. We aim to establish a normal work-day, to take the children from the factory and workshop and give them the opportunity of the school and the play-ground. In a word, our unions strive to lighten toil, educate their members, make their homes more cheerful, and in every way contribute an earnest effort toward making life the better worth living.” It’s unfortunate so much of our country doesn’t think that’s important anymore. » Posted By Bluebird of Unhappiness On February 15, 2011 @ 9:09 am Anyone see Colbert? Periodic Table of Criminal Elements Thanks guys, I was checking the place out and I thought I could hide out and make a quiet little test post, but it appears there’s this front page thing going on. I saw “Chemistry” and I couldn’t resist, then I saw this and couldn’t resist even more. I suspect there will be more elements we’ve yet to discover so this should have quite a few periodoc updates. » Posted By Bluebird of Unhappiness On February 14, 2011 @ 11:34 pm How cool it that? » Posted By Bluebird of Unhappiness On February 14, 2011 @ 11:05 pmComments Posted By Bluebird of Unhappiness

I grew up in a union neighborhood, in a union household and a neighborhood that named a school after a union leader. We learned about the history of the union movement in school.

I got pended over the word face last week. WTF? FACE?
As soon as the badges came out I said no thanks because 1) it seemed juvenile and 2) I read a marketing piece that said badges instill some sort of Pavlovian response in your audience.
Plus, whatever is going on with the slanted writing isn’t healthy. News aggregation is shady at best. And the whole concept of unpaid bloggers posing as professionals, hell even paid bloggers who think editorials=news reporting…
I’ll miss typing “she who shall not be named” though.
Thanks to feisty for showing me the way. Lovely to see you all.
