The more I read about Walker I can understand why he doesn’t like teachers – he was not a successful student. He spent four years in college with a C average and never graduated. A shrink might have a go at his massive power play now, huh?

JkkFl – in 2010 he called for a truce on abortion and other social issues so the nation could focus on our economic problems – of course the right wing of his party gave him a lot of grief about it. Those are his pat answers but he isn’t a fundamentalist Christian like some of the candidates that are interested in making America a religious state. He doesn’t frighten me like Huckabee or Palin who see a different future for our government.

I am always surprised they keep Shep around – I guess he is their “fair and balanced” one hour a day. I bet he and Beck don’t pal around on the set.

Being from Indiana I was glad to see that Daniels backed down and also fired the employee who wanted to take a shot in the crowd. He’s not near the ideologue as some of these fundies – I don’t think they would ever accept his lack of position on abortion as a candidate.

I don’t think you were too harsh – isn’t that why we come here? So that we’re free to be ourselves? It shows your convictions and I like that and if someone wants to disagree that would be ok, too.

I don’t have any answers but nothing seems to work there. Did any of you read Sebastian Jung’s book “War”? it was a little disorganized but the most honest book about war I’ve read. He was embedded there – of course a vet would have to verify that – but my niece is married to a guy that did two tours there and it really is beyond civilized in those mountains. We have got to figure out how to get out of there.

Boomer – I went to the Fox website to read their take on the Walker phone call and it wasn’t mentioned. Nada – nothing- it didn’t happen there. It occurs to me that we don’t all get the same news in America! Shocking!

That’s great – I’m allergic to cats but when I had my first son I had a cat that would follow the stroller and me like a dog – its unusual She was a sweetie but I had to give her away. I now have a 5 lb Shih Tzu/ Maltese mix who is my little buddy. Incidentally, I was going to tell you my father and my ex were both watchmakers – a rare profession.

These are great stats – I’ve always wanted someone to try to compile income upon entry to Congress and income on exit. We know what they make which isn’t really much considering they’re keeping up 2 homes but they all seem to come out rich. I’d like a congressional investigation of why – not gonna happen!

I agree – I thought that whole thing had been fought and won until Obama became POTUS. I haven’t seen this much racism since I found out that the South had separate drinking fountains when I was a kid! It has been an ugly 2 years. Brody did a great article on it the other day DWB.

Abby: I hate to keep arguing with you and I know these are difficult times but smart creative people figure out a way to make it.

Firstly, with that income they aren’t paying income taxes and are recieving about $5000 in earned income credit. In my heart of heart it’s just wrong to me. The wife needs to work at night or make some adjustments.

I was left after 32 yrs of marriage without a dollar. I know what it’s like to be poor and I was raised in an upper middle class family. Life throws us curveballs and our character and integrity is about how we deal with them.

I feel much sorrier for the people that don’t have jobs. If you have a job, you need to live within your means without stealing, otherwise we have chaos and unlawfulness.

This isn’t the first times America has been through tough times. All we have is our name, trust and integrity and I would never compromise that. That’s just my feeling. If we can’t trust our neighbors, friends and workers our world is no longer civilized. If someone needs something I would gladly give it to them, but stealing from each other to meet each our needs will be our downfall.

Abby I don’t know you well but I have often followed you on HP and respected you greatly – I can’t believe that if people don’t make enough money you’re advocating stealing. This does not sound like you. There are millions of people right now who would love a job at $50K a year and yes you can live off that. People need to learn that we don’t need 2 cars and salvation army has some great clothes. Cooking on a budget can be a challenge but beans are cheap and healthy. Kids don’t have to have iPods. I’ve worked with poor people and very wealthy people and that salary would make most poor people happy. Maybe not the college educated group that hangs out here but that’s not bad money out in the real world.

Should have done my research – I’m from Indiana and none of those are here. I was wrong – it’s just that so many have shut down or reduced production or even sent production overseas that these states don’t have the union presence they did. Thanks for your research.

They were supposedly made in Indiana but now the AP reported on 2/6 that there never were faulty brakes. My car was on the recall list.

Nobody seems to be acknowledging that as on 2/6 the AP reported that Toyota was not responsible for faulty brakes – they suffered a terrible defamation of character. I follow this because I have a recalled car.

I realize you’re god, but – who are you to decide who you are allowed to steal from? A local grocer that may net $30K a year while your wages may be $75K a year? We can’t get to the top 2% that easily. Our local merchants and doctors don’t come close to being in that bracket. I know maybe one man that makes that kind of money – shall I infiltrate his home and start stealing his “things”? That wouldn’t do anything to his networth and I don’t even want his crap? It’s the wrong philosophy maybe for the right reason – but it’s not morally right. The people who stole from Toyota did it for greed not some “save the world” philosophy. We can’t be a society without rules. We can change the society if we ban together – I’m still an idealist that believes we can live in a better place but not by being as bad as the “bad” people. We can’t start a new society on deceit.

Sometimes I think we’re going backwards – we may have stopped the war a couple years sooner but there was so much violence and who would have thought that a biracial President would have brought out this ugliness 40 yrs later? I thought we fought that fight and when I read and look at the TeaParty not sure much has changed but laws – not hearts. The GOP fundamentalist stranglehold on the country is worse today than back then – I wonder what was accomplished with the violence – and it was violent. It was a revolution from the left and it was ugly. I don’t want that for my kids and grandkids. I fear that is where we are going too. I’d rather see peaceful civil disobedience like MLK. We have power in numbers and organization. The “liberal” left is still paying for the 60’s as long as people are alive that remember it – violence just isn’t the way to move people to our side.

There aren’t any union counterparts left – all the GM and Chrysler plants are gone in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio – you guys are living in the 90’s. They’ve all been shut down. When Toyota came workers were ecstatic! That life is gone -Reagan killed it!

On Feb 6th the AP put out an article about Toyota being absolved of responsibility for faulty brakes. It was the floor mats like they said all the time. They pay good wages in the scheme of things In the state of Indiana a new plant came in and people lined up for days for those jobs.

I’m completely not down with what was done to the slaves or the native Americans. But when you agree to work for someone you have contracted yourself for a price. I don’t think any of us has a right to steal from each other. I believe in protesting and changing the system. I’m sure many doctors feel underpaid in inner-city hospitals would we feel right about them stealing supplies to make our bills go up? it’s a personal thing with me – I’m older and I’ve had more than one career – I’ve never taken anything from my workplace. I’ve been in business for myself for 15 years and my father was self-employed so my feelings may stem from that. I always treated my employees fairly and expected respect. If I knew they had stolen from me I would have to let them go. It would break the bond like it would if a friend stole from me. It’s just my moral code. I haven’t had an easy life, but I’ve tried to teach my children and tried to live my own life by certain standards.

Toyota pays pretty well and now they are finding out they may not be at fault – so maybe we shouldn’t be too quick to judge.

I still have a problem with stealing – it’s just a core belief – those people had jobs – let’s save our pity for the ones that don’t. Sorry – I can’t condone that.
