I totally agree with you and because I was there I can say it was a scary time. It was a revolution and it was violent. I don’t think they will ever let us live that liberal label down until that generation (and I) am gone.

My little dog Bob barks at all dogs and many creatures with four legs. My favorite is when he barks at Pluto but not Mickie or Minnie – my grandkids are into Mickie Mouse. I don’t know how he knows Pluto is a dog, but he does!

I was over there and read the AH story that was reported here about who said “aggregate” first – Bill Keller of the NYT or her. What I noticed on the comments other than they were all glowing with praise for Miss Huff, was that they all had very few fans. Many said “I’ve been posting here for years” or “I’ve been a fan of yours forever” but they had 5 fans. Obviously, one is not allowed to criticize her so they may have had trolls come for some positive comments!

You’re really good and I like that you push yourself. That’s unusual without a class or teacher – it shows great self discipline of which I have none. I’m rather talented but not driven – a terrible trait. I haven’t painted in years – life kind of got in the way. Is this a watercolor? I noticed you mostly work in oils (me too).

Katrina’s death toll was a little over 1700 but there are some that attribute another 2500 on top of that for unaccounted people, a 10% increase in suicide the following year, etc. The population is only half of what it was so it is hard to believe they had an accurate count as well as counting those that never mentally recovered.

The pictures from Japan are devastating – it’s hard to believe there won’t be a great human loss. They talk of whole towns under water with no communication – that can’t be good.

Americans are generous and want to know how they can help. I think there will be an outpouring of gifts and prayers. But it seems there is going to be a period of chaos – things can’t be restored overnight and we pray for a quick resolution to power plant problems. Very frightening – makes us take our personal inventories about what is important in life.

Buddy – I looked at your link with your other paintings the other day and was quite impressed. You are very good and I say this as a former Art teacher. Are you self taught? I loved your Marx Brothers painting, there were many I liked.

I thought her article was embarrassing it was so defensive. It reminded me of PeeWee Herman’s “I know you are but what am I”. I really thought she had a better sense of what the public wants to hear. It was very Palinesque – I must answer any bad thing someone says about me!

They have in the past Abby. I wonder what made more hungry for knowledge? The Greatest Generation that grew up as children during the depression didn’t often have money for college, often had to quit high school to help support the family, but many were self taught. I know a man that quit school in 8th grade and read all the classics, etc. He had 3 sons that all became doctors. He was amazing. What made them different?
