This is a place to post substantive material and get honest feedback. It won’t be attracting those who are into fan count, flattery to get more fans and who never post anything of substance. I like that.

I never understood the need to say I’m here and I’m leaving. Then a whole thread was made up of goodnights or hellos. It seemed more like an ego thing to me or perhaps it was a tradition that started before my time.

You are more than right. First fan people as a popularity thing then ding them as a mod. You cannot play both sides of the fence and have it end well. That is what HP did.

Many of them are right wingers who came on and pretended to be Liberal. They got many fans under that guise.

I agree wholeheartedly HH. Anytime you turn something into a popularity contest, it will bring out the beast in those who have fragile self concepts. I got caught up in his BS and allowed it to take me away from my progressive focus. Learned a great lesson from his negativity.

zoot, miss you. That moderation thing over there got completely out of control. I dropped my original account due to personal reasons. I came back under a new moniker and happened on a thread dominated by right wingers. I started flagging them and the next day was told I had a mod1 badge after only one day and a mod2 badge after one week. I then realized the right wingers where going on HP putting on inappropriate comments and flagging each other so they could get mod2 badges prior to the election and delete us at will. I reported it to HP and never heard back from them. The only difference I noticed was they changed the abusive flag button so you couldn’t see how many people had flagged it unless you had a mod2 badge, which by that time I did. Now, I realize not having a mod badge, is a badge of honor.

I imagine the people of Egypt today feel the joy of freedom similar to what I felt when President Obama was elected after 30 years under Reagan, Republicans and Bush Co. It was a turning of the tide for America and I wish the same for the Egyptian people. If Republicans had won in 2008, we’d be seeing Americans rising up at this point in time. A victory for freedom anywhere in the World, is a victory for all people who cherish it. Good job, Egyptians. May peace and prosperity reign very soon for all of you.
