Cheers goleafsgo! It kind of reminds me of an M.C. Esher-like only more nasty. Trying to attack Democrats as being condescending to women by supporting their prescription expenses for Birth Control…while being condescending to women in describing their use of Birth Control as making them dumb animals that are slaves to their libido.

The dividend of course is that a vast majority of Americans are offended by Huckabee and his brand of hyper-evangelical Republicanism and he looks as bewildered at being attacked from all sides as Romney looked at losing the election.

Republicans on the whole just live in their Fox/Tea Party bubble and when they stick their heads out of it, get their faces slapped.

Which is a good thing!

KT – Racism and chauvinism are very related, the need of white males to feel superior and entitled.

In the “ideal” RW world, teen pregnancy would be rampant, there would be open and intense hostility between minorities and white Repubs, China and other nations would dominate the U.S. in science and technology and there would be witch trials.

How can they think they will ever win a national election again until their mindsets change?

Beatlex, I’m sure they’d like to re-energize the evangelicals but that ship has sailed. This seems to be a publicity stunt gone awry by Huckabee.

These professional pundits are always trying to grab the spotlight, especially on the Right, always trying to lob a unique hand grenade. The Huckster has been prepping this line for a while, he’s said this previously. No doubt he was anticipating pats on the back and being carried like a returning hero on the shoulders of the GOP…aw…poor Huckster!

Kalima, excellent point! It’s called “Birth Control”, it is explicitly named for giving women control over pregnancy. And the ass-backwards Huckster and GOP Friends think they can sell women on the idea that giving up birth CONTROL actually gives them more control over their lives? It is definitively insane.

And so true, birth control pills are not just used for that, they have multiple medical uses. Is Huckster also for taking away heart, liver and kidney medication from women to give them “more control”?

As the years move forwards, the GOP takes another step backwards towards the stone age they so romantically dream of returning to. Sorry Neanderthals, evolution is working for the rest of us and only moves in one direction, forward.

AB, same here, the delivery of “wholeheartedly” was no-heartedly, the phoniest delivery of that word I’ve ever heard.

How someone can lie so plainly and hugely is astounding. Sure hope there’s enough evidence to put her wholeheartedly in prison.

Okay, we’ve all been around the block. We’ve seen children, adults and politicians (a combination of both) lie. We know the forced and awkward clues of lying and liars.

Listen to Christie’s Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno. Have you ever heard a more rehearsed, more forced and less genuine sounding denial from a politician?

IMO and with years of experience in seeing people lie, she is so obviously lying it’s kind of absurd. This means that there will continue to be corroborating statements and evidence showing her participation in extortion of Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer. Whether it rises to guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and can be prosecuted and won, remains to be seen but it does mean there is doubtless a trail of extortion and corruption that will continue to be uncovered and one if not more may stick to her and Christie.

Even if not, the preponderance of instances where corruption and abuse of power are alleged will grow and stain Christie and Guadagno indelibly.

Christie’s presidential hopes are over now, even though he won’t allow himself to accept it. He and his administration will be the poster child for Republican politicians as corrupt leaders and no way would the party want that to be the face of their party.

Can you imagine the attack ads that would pummel him? He’d be destroyed in a GE for sure, let alone the GOP primary.

Sometimes there is justice and this over-inflated bully is getting his.

It has been a while and very nice to chat again, indeed!

Since he is that bully/coward combination, I don’t think we’ll ever see him step up courageously and admit what he’s done just to end the madness, he will cling to his lies till the end and even then, blame others including those who caught him and were victimized by him.

So if your name isn’t Genghis Kahn, doesn’t that mean he will be caught? The logic works for me!

NoManIsAnIsland, I would have stuck with that original wording had the news come out earlier that the FBI was investigating the charge by the Hoboken mayor.

My only concern about Christie being convicted of corruption is how much money the taxpayers of NJ will have to pay for making a prison jumpsuit with that much fabric.

Agreed, like most bullies, they can only dish it out. His cowardly acts of throwing his staff under the bus and squirming every which way he can to avoid responsibility tells me that if he’s nailed as I think he eventually will be, he will break down like a 5 year old caught stealing from the cookie jar.

Now, after hearing on Maddow that the FBI is interviewing aides of the Mayor of Hoboken on the Christie Admin trying to extort her into approving a development for a Christie donor in order to get Sandy funds.

If this is proven, it is a major and federal crime and Christie could be wearing an XXXXL orange jumpsuit. Fascinated to see how this develops.

MMT: Not Your Mother’s Monetary Theory

Funk, it seems a matter of semantics, taxes destroying money then government creating more money and tax money being recycled. Either way, there is an ongoing cycle of money being eliminated and created.

Though it would take a real Progressive revolution to achieve, I like the idea of wiping out the FICA tax for the 99% for all the economic benefits and fairness that would produce (and instead destroying a little money of the wealthy by raising the percentage they pay and removing the cap). Raise the minimum wage to $15 dollars and revise SS so it is funded by those who have benefitted the most and would still be wealthy enough not to have their lifestyle diminished, sounds like a one-two punch for a booming economy and secure futures to me. The increased income to the 99% offset by greater taxes from the 1%, that’s my kind of recipe.

I do think it could be a winning message to more accurately explain the deficit but the reason that hasn’t been done could be that it is harder to sell a more complex message like that than a simple fear-based message. If any politician tried to recast the perception of the deficit AND explain that it’s so high because the wealthy have amassed too much money, there would be a Category 5 political hurricane coming from the right to destroy that politician and that message…and all that wealth would be at the RW’s disposal to obliterate both. I don’t know that the public would see through the fear mongering about how “Government is destroying our country through this out of control deficit!” Or that they would reject the false comparison of government deficits to their family’s or a business’ finances.

If there was a true Progressive/populist movement across the country though, this concept would seem to fit in well with a policy of restructuring the tax system to unburden the majority and shift the burden to the wealthy. Explaining in such an environment that taxation is a necessary control on inflation and that the duty should be shifted to those in a position to more comfortably provide it, could work well.

I do recognize that some taxes need to remain on the 99% though since they represent a different impact on the economy, too much money in the hands of too many would cause ongoing inflation, but the inequity is so great now, I don’t think a shift like we’re discussing would have much of a detrimental impact on inflation and would instead drive a stronger economy.
