Displaying 17,911 To 17,940 Of 19,504 Comments Cher and WTS – Wish there was two of me…then the other me could work while I lied on the couch eating Cheetos and watching Family Guy. Hang on…going there right now… » Posted By AdLib On February 15, 2011 @ 4:14 pm As you can imagine, been a bit busy at The Ol’ Planet due to the HP Titanic hitting the AOL iceberg. Sorry for the delay, my response is below. » Posted By AdLib On February 15, 2011 @ 1:25 am By “organization of comments”, do you mean how the comments appear in your profile at HP? Or are you talking about how they appear under an article? Let me know what you’re specifically referring to so I can get an idea of what the functionality is you’re suggesting. We can and have continued to customize and evolve The Planet but it does take contributions from our community, we’re community powered both for content and finances. We do want to keep building a better Planet though so let me know the details of your suggestion. » Posted By AdLib On February 15, 2011 @ 1:22 am Well done, PW! » Posted By AdLib On February 15, 2011 @ 1:15 am Hey PW, you need to upload an image from your computer to The Planet if you want to add it to a comment or post. Go to your Dashboard, under Media, click Add New and then Select to upload your image. Once it uploads, copy the url for it that appears across from File URL then you can paste that into the image insert pop up box when you’re writing your comment. » Posted By AdLib On February 15, 2011 @ 1:14 am Hmm…that’s odd. Sounds like Java has stopped working in your browser. If you restart your browser, all the functionality should return. If not, you may need to restart your system to get Java running properly. Try one and if that doesn’t work, try the other. Please let me know if this solves the problem. » Posted By AdLib On February 15, 2011 @ 1:11 am Hey ghsts, if you change your mind like that, click the “Click here to cancel reply.” link below the “Leave your Comment” title and you can then choose another comment to reply to or reply to the main article. » Posted By AdLib On February 15, 2011 @ 1:08 am The server time issue should be permanently fixed as of yesterday. Really appreciate your alerting me to this, cheers! » Posted By AdLib On February 15, 2011 @ 1:01 am Yes, I have the server folks working on that. Thanks for the heads up and your patience. » Posted By AdLib On February 12, 2011 @ 9:10 pm Thanks for confirming, MW, you’ve been so much help lately! And your diagnosis of what was the issue was absolutely correct, you nailed it! Thanks!!! » Posted By AdLib On February 12, 2011 @ 11:50 am MW – Yep, I think you’re right on the money. The VP widget is likely the cause, I’ve put it away until next Friday, the site should be back to full speed now. Let me know if it’s not! » Posted By AdLib On February 12, 2011 @ 9:52 am So it’s up properly now? If so, glad to hear it. If not, let me know! » Posted By AdLib On February 11, 2011 @ 3:48 pm Yes, you have to use the html that creates a text version of symbols instead of the actual symbol. Here’s one site among many which give the html codes to create various symbols: http://www.yourhtmlsource.com/text/specialcharacters.html » Posted By AdLib On February 11, 2011 @ 3:47 pm Cool! » Posted By AdLib On February 11, 2011 @ 3:41 pm Hey Caru! Which image and post are you talking about, let me know and I’ll check it out! » Posted By AdLib On February 11, 2011 @ 3:41 pm Wasn’t me…must have been the Avatar Fairy! Glad you’re all set up! » Posted By AdLib On February 11, 2011 @ 2:52 pm PW, appreciate your sharp eye on this! Fixed! (This has happened before on this new server of ours, please let me know if you notice any time differential in the future, thanks!). » Posted By AdLib On February 11, 2011 @ 9:57 am I majored in gobsmacking in college. Seriously, thanks for the props, MW and for your help! » Posted By AdLib On February 11, 2011 @ 8:55 am The post was pulled back to resolve a graphics issue, all solved and the post is up now! » Posted By AdLib On February 11, 2011 @ 8:42 am Once again, thanks so much for the head’s up! All fixed! » Posted By AdLib On February 11, 2011 @ 8:39 am Fixed! Thanks for the heads up! » Posted By AdLib On February 9, 2011 @ 6:51 pm I use Firefox as my primary browser so it is compatible. Not sure what caused the issue but the standard suggestion I’d make is to clear the caches in both Firefox and Chrome, close then restart the browsers then see if they work. Let me know either way if that solves the issue. » Posted By AdLib On February 9, 2011 @ 1:58 pm Your wish is my command! Check out and use this link: » Posted By AdLib On February 8, 2011 @ 6:36 pm MW, thanks so much. We’re grateful for you and all the rest of our community that have built The Planet into what it is today, a unique and cool blogging home for long time and new members alike. We’re the ones who feel the luckiest! Props all around! » Posted By AdLib On February 7, 2011 @ 11:59 pm MW, never feel hesitant to mention. Yes, there have been a couple of burps today, we are seeing a big leap in traffic thanks to what’s happened at HP. Working on smoothing everything out ASAP! » Posted By AdLib On February 7, 2011 @ 1:56 pm Hey Haruko! As noted below, your post didn’t actually disappear, yesterday as we were making the transition to the new server, sometimes the internet sent people to our old server, other times here to the new server. Your posts was and has always been up here on the new server but when you came to check out The Planet later, the internet took you to our old server and your post wasn’t there. I spent yesterday constantly checking the old server and transferring all posts and comments from there over to here including one of yours from later in the day. The process of updating the entire internet to our new location only takes about 24 – 48 hours to complete which still seems pretty fast, when you consider how many computers around the world make up the internet. So, tonight will mark 48 hours since the move was started and hopefully that will mean the internet will be fully updated on the location of the Planet’s new server…and these issues will decrease. As I say though, I’d ask anyone who continues to experience problems to post here at the Help Desk or email me at admin@planetpov.com . Thanks! » Posted By AdLib On February 3, 2011 @ 11:24 am Boomer, sorry for the delay in responding, been out this morning. Check out the info above. There could be an issue with one’s browser cache or a system cache in people’s computers that still thinks we’re on the old server and uses that IP address. If this continues, please let me know and I’ll give instructions on how to clear the system cache. In the meantime, clear your browser cache and restart your browser. Otherwise, the cause of what you and Cher are experiencing could have to do with the servers on the internet that your computer is being routed through to get to The Planet, some of them may not have updated to send you to our new server yet but all should be updated by the end of today. Again, please let me know if you experience this or other issues, email me if you can’t access the site. Very sorry about this. Hopefully, the issues will be resolved by the end of the day. » Posted By AdLib On February 3, 2011 @ 11:13 am Hi Cher! Sorry about the error. There are several things going on that could be contributing to this error. First, when a site changes servers, it can take a day or two for all of the servers on the internet to change the destination they send people to when “planetpov.com” is typed in. Yesterday, for example, some people would find themselves on the old server while others were on the new server. I kept the old server running yesterday but closed it early this morning. So, there can still be some of the internet out there that might route you to the old closed server. However, the few servers that haven’t updated yet should be updated by the end of today. Next, some browsers may be looking for The Planet at the old location. Clear your cache and close all browser windows then restart, that should solve that issue. If not, a different cache on your computer may need to be cleared. Let me know if the issue continues and if so, I’ll give you (or anyone else) instructions on how to clear that cache. Third, since we are on a new server, moving the site over could have created a few glitches. I’ll be fine tuning the site over the next several days to hopefully clear up those issues. It’s helpful for me to know if anyone is having any type of issues since we moved servers so if you or anyone reading this has trouble getting on the site and posting here at the Help Desk, please email me as you did at admin@planetpov.com . Thanks for your patience! » Posted By AdLib On February 3, 2011 @ 11:01 am No, we are changing servers and there will be a little quirky stuff as we do as the internet updates to send folks to our new server. Some comments and posts will be temporarily missing but all are safe and sound and will be replaced! Sorry, meant to put up a notice earlier but buried in tech stuff on the move. Will do so now so I don’t drive everyone crazy! » Posted By AdLib On February 2, 2011 @ 10:31 am Very sorry about this, Pepe! We are working on some of the site software right now so some quirky things may occur over the next couple of days. My pleasure to fix the typos for you and I will figure out what the issue is! » Posted By AdLib On October 12, 2010 @ 6:45 pmComments Posted By AdLib
