Thanks for all the great work you do on The Sunday Funnies, they’re very appreciated (and popular). » Posted By AdLib On July 14, 2013 @ 1:07 pm Thanks Kalima!!! » Posted By AdLib On May 3, 2013 @ 2:00 pm Hi Bourne, just emailed you. Cheers to Kalima for posting our admin email and removing your email address from your comment. All kinds of nasty spammers and bots can scoop up email addresses that appear in comments and posts so it’s best not to post them. Look forward to hearing from you! » Posted By AdLib On May 3, 2013 @ 2:00 pm Hey Killgore! Actually, I recognized that you had done that a few minutes after it happened and I changed its status back to being a draft. Did you try accessing it a bit afterward? I’m so pleased to have you sitting in the DJ Booth for Weekend Music thread! The theme you’ve chosen for this weekend’s theme is so appropriate, don’t want to ruin the surprise so I’ll just say, well done! » Posted By AdLib On December 6, 2012 @ 7:12 pm Sorry about that Sally! If anything like this happens again, email me so I can try to help you at the time. That error occurs due to a corrupt cache on your computer. Clear your cache on your browser, close your browser then restart it and go to the Vox Populi page. Try a test post there, just say “Good Night” for example. All should be well. If not, let me know! Missed you at closing time, I saved an extra mojito for you! » Posted By AdLib On June 29, 2012 @ 10:36 pm Thanks for the assist, Bito! » Posted By AdLib On April 23, 2012 @ 5:16 pm Thanks KQ! Fixed it! » Posted By AdLib On April 9, 2012 @ 6:19 pm Cool beans! » Posted By AdLib On April 1, 2012 @ 8:53 pm Hey Murph, Actually, after getting your first message, we went back in time to have published it beforehand. Seriously, we may publish or schedule publishing for a later time in the day or even a following day, as we think would give the article its best exposure. » Posted By AdLib On March 26, 2012 @ 6:38 pm Sorry for the delay in responding! I’ve made a change for a temp fix so you shouldn’t experience that. Will be working to fix it permanently. » Posted By AdLib On February 17, 2012 @ 7:02 pm Sally, thanks for the heads up. I’ve made a fix for the time being, you shouldn’t see that again for the time being. » Posted By AdLib On February 17, 2012 @ 6:59 pm Sally, try adding two line breaks when this happens and see if it solves the issue. I could get computer nerdy to explain why it happens sometimes but probably best not to bore you and just to leave it at “try two line breaks”. » Posted By AdLib On February 2, 2012 @ 9:26 pm Escribacat, I think I know what may be causing that. We now use cloud networking for The Planet (appropriate, oui?) which means that based on where you’re located, you may be accessing a different server to see the site. So you and Sally may be having this issue while others, viewing the site on other servers, may not. I will reset our “cloud”, please let me know if this issue continues after tonight! » Posted By AdLib On February 2, 2012 @ 9:22 pm Hey Cher, sometimes you paste in URLs from YouTube that include the words “feature=player_embedded&version” which interferes with the software here being able to embed that video. When you post them and they don’t embed, they look similar to this:
When I fix them, I just delete the extraneous part so it looks like this:
And they embed fine. So, to modify them yourself, just look at the URL, if if isn’t as simple as the example above, just delete everything after “watch?” up until “v=” and you’re set! » Posted By AdLib On December 24, 2011 @ 8:14 pm All in a day’s work, ma’am. » Posted By AdLib On December 6, 2011 @ 11:49 pm BTW, if you have trouble seeing the “OK” button when changing your screen’s appearance, use the tab key and it will advance the active area around the screen, eventually to the OK button. It’s kind of a feel-your-way-around thing. When you think it may be on the OK button, hit the “Enter” key on your keyboard and it will press the button. You may have to do it by trial and error, tab once then Enter, tab twice then enter…until it works! » Posted By AdLib On December 6, 2011 @ 5:40 pm Am emailing you… » Posted By AdLib On December 6, 2011 @ 4:49 pm Hey all! I have hopefully solved The Mystery of the Disappearing Edit Comment Function. Please let me know if you have any further issues with being able to use the “edit” function on your comments. Thanks! » Posted By AdLib On December 5, 2011 @ 3:46 pm Do you have the latest version of Firefox? Just to be technical, as long as Firefox is working properly, than the normal way works. It delete cookies, they simply aren’t there to cause issues once deleted. Remember, after deleting your PlanetPOV cookies and clearing your cache, you need to close then restart your browser. When your browser restarts and the site looks for them, they won’t be there so it’s not possible for them to continue being an issue. As Bito mentioned below, try installing the add-ons I listed in a previous response and this will make it quick and easy to remove PlanetPOV cookies without using this other program (it’s a bit more than needed with such an issue). Sorry about this. Though we have had a few members who this has happened to, it’s not re-creatable so as I mentioned, it’s trial and error to track it down through many processes and software, we are working on it though and will resolve it! » Posted By AdLib On November 7, 2011 @ 1:38 pm You’re so kind Kes! I’m just as grateful to the rest of the Admin team here, there wouldn’t be a Planet without them! As for the perqs, I think it’s the PlanetPOV private chef that keeps them on board but I could be wrong. » Posted By AdLib On November 7, 2011 @ 1:23 pm Thanks for cross-checking this, Bito. I’m hoping the cookie issue has been addressed. Cache issues happen typically from time to time, regardless of the site, hope clearing his cache resolves this issue for Murph for a long time. » Posted By AdLib On November 7, 2011 @ 12:46 pm Murph, this is a local issue on your system, I can’t recreate it, when I click on the Home menu item at the top of the page, the Home page comes up. Try clearing your cache, closing your browser then restarting your browser and trying that link again. Please let me know if that issue is or isn’t resolved by this. » Posted By AdLib On November 7, 2011 @ 11:11 am Glad to hear that the issue appears to be fully resolved in your case, Murph, that’s a relief. Emerald and a couple of other members have had it reoccur so I do think that there is something to smooth out on our end and hope that the tweaks I made last night to the site alleviate it for good. » Posted By AdLib On November 6, 2011 @ 10:11 am Hey Emerald! I tried some adjustments last night, this is a trial and error thing because I can’t recreate the error for myself. Please let me know if this issue happens again, hoping this solved it but need to hear from you or anyone else if they experience this issue in the future. Just in case though, here’s a quick and easy way to delete just PlanetPOV cookies in Firefox and Chrome. You can install the following add-ons in Firefox and Chrome then when you’re on this site and see a cookie error like you describe, just right click and you’ll see an option to remove cookies for this site and it will instantly do so and clear up the issue. For Firefox, click here to install the Remove Cookie add on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/remove-cookies-for-site/ For Chrome, click here to install the Remove Cookie add on: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lmfdblomdpkcniknaenceeogpgepocmm Hopefully though, this issue won’t continue! However, if it does, please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks! » Posted By AdLib On November 6, 2011 @ 9:17 am Emerald, I’m very sorry about this. It’s a complex and elusive issue that will takes us some time to track down. It appears to happen primarily on Macs and began relatively recently. The program you describe and rebooting your computer is not required to address this issue, clearing cookies and cache and restarting your browser is all that’s required (it has worked for others) and is pretty quick, shouldn’t take more than a minute. Which browser is your primary one? Again, very sorry about this inconvenience but we are working on it and we will resolve it shortly. Thanks so much for your patience and understanding on this. » Posted By AdLib On November 5, 2011 @ 9:03 pm KT – I updated the comment edit software and due to a bug which they are fixing, comments can only be edited within a week of when they were first posted. In general, this is probably sensible anyway but until the bug is fixed, it doesn’t allow for there being no time limit. I’ve tested it and it seemed to work properly but could you please test it for me and let me know how long comments stay available to be edited? BTW, are you able to edit a brand new comment? Sorry for the inconvenience but please let me know what you observe about the way the editing software is operating, that will help me address any issues. » Posted By AdLib On October 29, 2011 @ 4:04 pm Murph, great, glad you found the function on your system that was converting graphics to PDFs. So, the issue with the featured image link is solved. As for the tabs not appearing, that too would be connected to your local system, we have many Mac users here and none have ever reported that issue occurring. Hopefully WordPress has heard of it before and can help! » Posted By AdLib On October 26, 2011 @ 3:01 pm That is weird! Try clearing your cache, closing your browser and trying it again. Please let me know if all is well or not. BTW, I’ve moved yesterday’s DP to Speakers Corner. » Posted By AdLib On October 25, 2011 @ 4:52 pm BTW, I noticed that you had uploaded a PDF file, PDF’s aren’t graphic files so they can’t be inserted as graphics into articles. We do have a way of inserting PDF documents into articles, just let us know when that’s the plan and we can help. » Posted By AdLib On October 24, 2011 @ 1:27 am Murph, I know it’s frustrating. I’ll see what I can find on this. We do have many folks here on Macs so it’s not that, it’s a local issue, with your system. What version of OS are you on and what kind of Mac? » Posted By AdLib On October 23, 2011 @ 11:32 pmComments Posted By AdLib
