I’ve really studied the period at length…and I’ve talked to survivors and lived with those who were effected by the atrocities. MOST of them would disagree was well…they feel the discussion IS important and should never be ignored. AS to evil being rare…I completely disagree…I think perspective of what is evil and what isn’t evil, is where there is a disconnect. I Think it EVIL that we invaded Iraq…and the loss of life there (in number of Iraqi people( is ill reported in the US press. And it was done for the most evil of motives in my opinion. He himself was not the embodiment of evil…any more so than others who have attempted world domination or who were totalitarian in their methods. Look at Otto Von Bismark, or Josef Stalin, Mao Tse Tung….Pol Pot…and others. I’m not saying these despots were good guys, not at all…THEY all were motivated by what I believe to be evil thoughts…I’m just saying they are no different than most who have attempted the same things over the centuries…. Tzars, Monarchs, Emperors…even supposedly Elected people who call themselves presidents of their people…have all been known to do some pretty bad and evil things in their desire for power and domination. JUST because people PERCEIVE something to be true…doesn’t mean it was true or actually happened how people believe it did…. There have been many despots throughout history and even some who are still alive today. Let’s look at the propaganda machine surrounding Fidel Castro or Saddam Hussein. Now remember when Hussein was being supported by the US, he was officially considered a good guy, a friend of the United States but when he stopped listening to the US and became rogue…he became the next “Hitler’ in the eyes of public opinion. Great use of propaganda don’t you think?
