Envy is when you want something that somebody else has (the Bible calls it “coveting”). Jealousy is when you want other people to *not* have something you have. Both can be said to elements of greed or avarice. But they are not interchangeable. I had sent numerous emails to AOL itself asking them to stop it, and they ignored me. Few people are aware that most of the public email providers, like AOL, MSN, and Yahoo, were selling software to spammers specifically for the purpose of spamming their members. And they were doing it after CAN-SPAM was in effect. ICQ, the internet chat program, advertised their software for spammers openly. ICQ was bought by Netscape, and we all know who bought Netscape. People who play games on Facebook and have allowed Facebook to “import contacts from your email account” will find their contact lists have been harvested. Wish there were more options, though. I admit I raised the Alcohol & Tobacco Tax (and I am a smoker), Sales & Use Tax (which I know tends to penalize the poor more), Premium Tax, and Corporate Tax. I was then able to increase the Transportation budget. Yeah, it would never fly. I am sure a bunch of people are putting state employees on furlough and cutting the budget everywhere to drop the income tax. But listen to them scream when they want those government services or those offices to be open now. While in California, the state (and many municipalities) put the workers on furlough on Fridays. I heard a lot of people complaining, a few months later, that “those lazy state workers” had forced the state to give them Fridays off.
