Amen, Mom.

Some plants will “soak up” radiation more than others, and retain it for long periods of time. In fact, a number of writers have proposed using this as a method to clean up radioactive sites: let the plants grow, soak up the radiation, then clear them out (the problem comes in when you have to figure out what to do with the excess plants).

Also, fat seems to store radioactive particles as well, and milk does have a bit of fat content.

I agree with Buddy and others. Until we have a way to safely dispose of, or render harmless, the waste, nuclear energy is not a viable option.

Nuclear waste is like a permanent colostomy bag. You can’t get rid of it and it is going to kill you.

How did that get past the censors.

Oh, well, it will never make front page anyway.

On Vox Populi, we were discussing the way prophecies are interpreted, and I proposed a contest.

The person who correctly deciphers this prophecy will get a prize from me. Prizes will only be awarded when proven by events to be correct.

“During the Final Four in the year of the Golden Monkey, the red goat will aim true and miss the mark, yet the ordained will salvage the honor of the ebon bull.”

Adonai, time being purely subjective would account for all of those people who seem to remember things vastly differently than the majority (or even the way that “biased” cameras record it).

However, I seriously doubt time is truly subjective. While our perception of time can be subjective (watched pot never gets pregnant and all that), far too much of the world around us relies on the passage of time for various processes.

if time is subjective, then distance, weight, and volume must also be subjective, which means I can walk around the block and deliver several tons of food and water to Tokyo.

If time is subjective, then a person can die before they are born. One could arrive at one’s destination before departing home. Cause and effect would have no meaning.

Which would make the GOP happy.

I was wondering about that myself.

They don’t have to worry about laws conflicting.

They are supposed to worry about laws conflicting with the Constitution.

For example, a town can pass an ordinance requiring a strip bar to be open 24 hours, and pass an ordinance restricting strippers to only work certain hours. It conflicts, but there is no real issue there.

Requiring the strippers to work for free and be beaten several times a day would conflict with the Constitution, however.

M’Lady Chase: Hmm. I am not impressed.

He did not once suggest that the entire Committee be required to observe Mr. Pitts’ and Mr. Johnson’s next prostate exam.

However, he *did* only have five minutes.

What did Will Rodgers say about amateurs and professionals?

I bow to the master of snark. :genuflects:

This weekend should be interesting on Car Talk.

Okay It’s worse than I thought.

From the text of H.R.3 (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h112-3)

“‘SEC. 303. PROHIBITION ON TAX BENEFITS RELATING TO ABORTION.

‘For taxable years beginning after the date of the enactment of this section–

‘(1) no credit shall be allowed under the internal revenue laws with respect to amounts paid or incurred for an abortion or with respect to amounts paid or incurred for a health benefits plan (including premium assistance) that includes coverage of abortion,

‘(2) for purposes of determining any deduction for expenses paid for medical care of the taxpayer or the taxpayer’s spouse or dependents, amounts paid or incurred for an abortion or for a health benefits plan that includes coverage of abortion shall not be taken into account, and

‘(3) in the case of any tax-preferred trust or account the purpose of which is to pay medical expenses of the account beneficiary, any amount paid or distributed from such an account for an abortion shall be included in the gross income of such beneficiary.”

That’s right. If your medical insurance covers abortion, you can not deduct any part of your premiums from your taxes.

If any otherwise tax-deductible cost has anything to do with abortion at all, it can not be deducted. As far as I can see, if a taxi driver drops off a woman at a clinic, the driver can not take any of the usual business expense tax deductions as a result.

It really is *that* badly constructed.

Yes, “Snappy Answers” section.

I’m trying to find some more information right now.

Because not even a comedian could come up with this stuff:

Olbermann is reporting that House GOP Bill would require the IRS to ask those who are audited if anyone in their family has had an abortion.

Next, they’ll require HUD inspectors to document the bumper stickers on the cars of public housing residents.

Here’s a giggle I thought about after posting earlier. Picture this scenario:

Judge decides against Walker.

Walker defies Judge and tries to enforce law anyway.

Judge slaps Walker with a contempt-of-court fine, *exactly* equal to his “budget shortfall”.

» Posted By 2ndClassCitizenPundit On March 18, 2011 @ 9:49 am

Well, let’s see how that plays out. Would be nice to see Walker get a nice bitch-slap from a judge.

I shared a bed with a man just coming off chemotherapy and with a full-blown case of sinus infection. I know what snoring is.

@Cher

Something wrong with that video of “what cats think”…

I didn’t get to see the part where the cat removed the person’s knee caps.

Anonymous must be attacking YouTube or something.

Oh, KY is great!

Much better than Vaseline.

And I believe that Vaseline explains everything that has happened with Rand Paul.

I’d vote for Sarah for POTUS.

If she lost 280 pounds first.

And I just said *exactly* what I meant.

If I want to make him feel worse, and give myself a case of the giggles for a week, I would tell him I am tired of pushing his namby-pamby leftist-progressive-communist agenda down the throats of honest Americans.

And I may do exactly that…

mwahahaha

Yes, but what does Basement Cat think?

» Posted By 2ndClassCitizenPundit On March 17, 2011 @ 6:46 pm

What I would prefer to do is get a bunch of auto-dialers, feed them every phone number within the Capitol building, and have them dial those numbers repeatedly for about a week, day and night.

Aaaand… that probably got me on a watch-list somewhere.

Why is it that the GOP is the only ones to get to shut down government?

Here’s what goes through a cat’s head:

“I own you. It is your duty to worship me and do whatever I want at any given time, without me having to tell you what that might be or showing any appreciation for it.

If I show you affection, it is nothing to do with you, but simply my divine/royal whim of the moment.”

Reminds me of the Doonesbury skit in the 70’s, about the most famous man in America: the only guy in America not to be mentioned in a Newsweek article. He had the clippings from Time magazine to prove it.
