I have come to one conclusion after seeing the response to the Mueller Report from people who actually read the thing – that lying is now the default position of the Republican Party and its adherents. What a wonderful indictment of a once reasonable-ish Party.

I am interested to see the polling after ll of this. Trump and Barr’s exoneration propaganda made no impact, I wonder if having them both exposed as frauds and adversaries of our democracy and justice could push more undecideds to the Dems.
AdLib an hour ago
PPO–I agree about lying being the default position. How could Barr stand in front of all those cameras, and blatantly lie, knowing that the Mueller report didn’t say what he said it did? Did he even read the damn thing? How can a so-called lawyer come to the “conclusions” he did?
glenn
PPO – Are we bringing back Cheney?
AdLib an hour ago
Ad–It will be interesting to see the polling for sure. But, what I’m more interested in is the Dems announcing that they are beginning impeachment proceedings based on the road map that Mueller set out for them.
glenn
Dems need to bury Barr when he appears in front of them and tell him straight up, he is a liar and has no credibility as AG and needs to resign.
AdLib an hour ago
One glaring question is about to be asked – by me! Does the USA need a President at all? This one does nothing, yet the country manages to stutter along geting day to day stuff done.

glenn
So to the question of do we need a president? YES! We need someone like Obama, not someone like the Yam Man. Blessings on the civil service, but a lot of our loss lies in foreign relations, and it will be necessary to repair that for the WHOLE WORLD.
choicelady
PPO–Not sure the country is “getting day to day stuff done”. IRS agents are not collecting taxes, border patrol is not stopping immigrants, DACA kids are still in limbo, etc., etc.
glenn
PPO – I’m not nostalgic for W so much as for OBAMA!!!
choicelady
glenn – I want to see Dems begin impeachment but these corporate/moderate/status quo Dems are refusing their Constitutional responsibility, reminding me why I despise their weakness and fearfulness. Just saw one talking to Joy Redi and she did a great job holding his feet to the fire of fulfilling their responsibility but he kept arguing how much smarter he is and how he sees the big picture and how the best accountability is beating him in 2020. And what if you don’t, you mealy mouthed self-centered weasel? What Hell have you setup for this country?
AdLib an hour ago
CL, that goes without saying.
pinkpantheroz
glenn – those are good points, but I see a lot of the day to day stuff still being carried out. Lucky for us #45 and his hit men (and a couple of women) don’t even know what to kill off!
choicelady
PPO–Not sure what you’re hearing, but I have to agree with CL. Don’t think people are so much nostalgic for W, as just saying, “..and we thought W was bad.” People are definitely nostalgic for Obama, though.
glenn

PPO – America needs a sane president, an insane one has done so much damage as we all know.
AdLib an hour ago

glenn – Yes, Sanders was already destroyed in her credibility but when we recognize that her job is propaganda and feeding it to Fox and the Trump cultist morons, she’s not going anywhere. Would Hitler have fired Goebbels because it become public that he admitted he lied?

pinkpantheroz
Hey Murph!
AdLib an hour ago
Howdy Doody!Hi to ad, choice, glenn and ppo
MurphTheSurf3
Ad – Nope. I stand w Pelosi on this. Here’s why. Watergate is my model, my standard. We can and MUST beging “Russian interference” investigations NOW, and that started one hour after Barr’s press conference. Nadler requested Mueller’s appearance. Watergate did NOT begin as an impeachment hearing but a hearing into the origins and conduct of Watergate and its aftermath. OUT OF THAT came enough evidence on the record for the next step – impeachment. But that was with Dem control of BOTH houses. If we move directly into impeachment, the Senate will NOT convict, and he will be empowered, his popularity will strengthen, he will grow worse. Let’s have the hearing on the report and all its tentacles. That will do the job we need of eviscerating the SOB.
choicelady
It has been interesting taking the temperature around post Mueller report.
MurphTheSurf3
PPO–Yes, Warren shouldn’t be the only voice for impeachment. Actually, it should be republicans calling for his impeachment! Good lord, just imagine if a report like this had come out about Obama! F***ing cowards, those republicans. And, where in hell is McConnell? Didn’t anyone of that liberal press think to ask him about all of this?
glenn
Murph – hi! And what are you hearing?
choicelady

Harleigh

PPO – Yes, Warren continues to impress me. The only candidate with so many detailed positions and no political calculating on whether or not to impeach a criminal and autocratic Trump.
AdLib an hour ago

glenn
Harleigh! Gang’s all here!
pinkpantheroz

choicelady

glenn – never worry about Sanders – her next job will be selling Bibles autographed by her Daddy on 3 am commercial TV.
choicelady

What am I hearing? Begin with given info base that almost everyone has……slim and/or badly formed…..continue with the level of attention that nearly everyone is giving to this….low energy…..move on whether they think it matters and you hear the mantra “the federal government needs to get back to the business of governing and making policy that effects the everyday person” all without realizing that if the the government is being broken by a corrupt executive allied with a self serving GOP in the House and Senate….. SOOOO…what am I hearing….everyone hunkering down in their already chosen position.
MurphTheSurf3

pinkpantheroz

Harleigh

pinkpantheroz
CL–I’m just hoping the press goes after every republican member of the Senate with questions about why they should NOT impeach, given the Mueller report. And the press better damn well keep asking this, and covering this with all the fervor and persistence they gave to Hillary’s emails.
glenn
Murph – that is confirmed over and over by smart Twitter users. So whatever we do on #45’s corruption has to be tied to his failure to serve your neighbors.
choicelady
CL – The thing is, I don’t think that is Pelosi’s position. She has been adamant that she would not support impeachment if she doesn’t have 67 votes in The Senate. She is politically calculating on this as are many of the status quo Dems, they are afraid (wrongly) that Trump will get a Clinton0style boost if impeached. What I find kind of stupid is that they forget that Nixon didn’t get a bump. That’s because Clinton was impeached for lying about an affair which most Americans didn’t find serious while the economy was booming. To come to what I regard as a thoughtless “rule” that impeaching a president gives him a boost is symptomatic of Dem weakness and letting fear make decisions.
AdLib an hour ago
CL–Good! That job is great for Sanders!
glenn
glenn- the Senate doesn’t impeach. Only the House. The senate convicts, and it won’t UNLESS the full and dastardly thing is exposed. We can replicate Watergate, expose the full story including McC’s sell out to Russia, and tie it ALL to the failure of this admin to do a GD thing for the people.
choicelady
Murph–The Dems (and the press)better not let this “move on”. This should be the top story every day, with different parts of the Mueller report being brought forward every day.
glenn
AG Barr is acting like Spank’s oersonal lawyer. WTF
Harleigh
Ad….I hope that Pelosi is taking her position to hold in the reins so that the stage coach does run off the road….I hope that she wants target specific investigations to generate the energy around impeachment and trial that she judges necessary to keep the investigations from defeating the Dems.
MurphTheSurf3
The look on Rosenstein’s face, or actually, the lack of expression told a lot.
pinkpantheroz
The thing about impeachment is that it is not a trial. It is only an investigation. It could result in The House not referring it to The Senate to pursue removal in the actual trial. Why do Dems need to have an investigation before an investigation? They don’t and the misunderstanding by many people that an impeachment hearing necessitates removal, even if they don’t find the case convincing is mistaken.
AdLib an hour ago
Harleigh….Trump found the reincarnation of Roy Cohn in Barr and is in bliss.
MurphTheSurf3
The House needs to make a Finding and toast Mr. Blobby’s ass.
pinkpantheroz
Ad – the issues here are wildly differnt from Clinton and far more like Watergate. We do NOT have the Senate though, and they will NOT convict him which will UNLEASH him to greater acts of fascist dominance if he’s not convicted. That’s why the hearing on his criminatlity and treason does not NEED to be tied to impeachment – we can vote him out, of that I am sure, and then INDICT and TRY and CONVICT the SOB – and any GOP henchmen like Nunes and McC.
choicelady
Glenn….it will be a bit of a tightrope walk for the Dems and the press but it is one that can be walked.
MurphTheSurf3
cl, but that means enduring 2 more years of the turd
pinkpantheroz
glenn – I know, I agree about Sanders but she is Minister of Propaganda for the Trump Cult. When labeled properly, her behavior and continuation in her job becomes clear.
AdLib an hour ago
Murph – Nixon had his Cohn, too. Barr can be taken down with him. The feds and courts are salivating.
choicelady
Ad – that may be, and we may never convict her. So waht? NONE of his minions can get other jobs.
choicelady
CL….but are the feds and courts salivating over the proper dish.
MurphTheSurf3
Murph – I think so, yes. He hasn’t taken enough control over them. Another reason to tie him up in hearings.
choicelady
I am very concerned that Barr is going to move on closing down the federal investigations in the states..
MurphTheSurf3
CL–Sorry, you’re right. The Senate should be asked over and over again why they will NOT convict. The Mueller report plainly lays out obstruction of justice, and almost begs Congress to continue the investigation and begin impeachment proceedings. Also, Pelosi better stop worrying about “political” implications, and begin worrying about getting the lying bully out of office. She has everything she needs in the Mueller investigation to do so.
glenn
Murph – he might try. I doubt he can succeed.
choicelady
Murph – What you hearing is just a regurgitation of the Trump/Barr/Fox talking points for the Trump Cult. They have no independent thought, they have the brains of a megaphone. AND…they are a minority of voters.
AdLib an hour ago
SO CL….you see the judiciary supporting Trump no matter what.
MurphTheSurf3
glenn – Pelosi CANNOT get him out without the Senate!
choicelady
IS there any way McConnell can be reined in and turfed out?
pinkpantheroz
Murph – no , I see the judiciary on OUR side overall.
choicelady
glenn – Did you see that Romney came out swinging at Trump lying in the Mueller report? Any bets on how long that will last? Monday?
AdLib an hour ago
Ad…the sad thing is that the non Trump cult is equally as mindless…..it is hard to hold a position when one does not have info base and the argument tools to do so.
MurphTheSurf3
PPO – his approval is 30% in KY, and the Dems have a kick ass fighter pilot as his opponent. I think the Turtle is DOA in this election.
choicelady
CL….even those appointed by Trump.
MurphTheSurf3

Ad – I am thinking Romney caves tomorrow.
choicelady

Cl, sigh, 2 more years!
pinkpantheroz

Murph – they aren’t dominant in the critical courts.
choicelady
CL–I get what you’re saying about voting the lying bully out. But, I just don’t seem to have the hope that you and Ad do that the American public will do so. If Russia interferes again, will the outcome be different? The Mueller report is a blueprint for impeachment and conviction, and Dems better start getting a spine before this all “blows over”.
glenn
Everytime Romney puts on his Crusader Rabbit suit I count the days before he runs back to the safety of hutch.
MurphTheSurf3
PPO – it’s more like 18 months, and we can tie the sucker up with hearings now to then.
choicelady

choicelady

Good Ol’ Flipper at it again.
pinkpantheroz
sorry to go so soon but I’m nodding out. laters folks,
Harleigh
Murph – I just don’t think that’s how Pelosi is calculating all this. She seems to see impeachment as a danger to Dems, she wants things to stay as they are right now because Dems would win against Trump if the election was today. She is not going to support impeachment unless a massive smoking gun is revealed. That’s my bet.
AdLib an hour ago
Cheers, Harleigh – nice seeing you
pinkpantheroz
glenj – the solid, unalterable fact is we cannot impeach AND convict him with this Senate. CANNOT. That is a disaster for us – he will be emboldened and is perfectly capable of blowing up our entire system over it. He can try even if he’s investigated, but it’s less likely than if he’s exonerated (as he sees it.)
choicelady
Ad…she is a shred tactician and she has a number shrewd leaders and chairs around her……we shall see.
MurphTheSurf3
By Harleigh
MurphTheSurf3
CL – So would you agree that Pelosi does not support impeachment even after all the evidence comes out proving Trump broke laws?
AdLib an hour ago
Night, Harleigh – good to see you!
choicelady
Ad, even if no further indictments or impeachment, is there enough meat in Mueller’s report to get Dems ove the line in 2020?
pinkpantheroz
Ad – I don’t know if she would do it or not – if she thought the Senate would get the 67 votes, she would.
choicelady
Trumps taxes! When???????
pinkpantheroz
Murph – My concern too, that Barr tries to shut down SDNY and other investigations. He is a threat to the rule of law.
AdLib an hour ago
I think that Pelosi will support the creation of impeachment articles if the stir in the Senate among the GOP supports that being done….otherwise she will stick with the narrower target by target investigation looking to expose corruption and malfeasance.
MurphTheSurf3
Ad–I did see that about Romney, but don’t forget the first part of his statement: “good news that there was insufficient evidence” to charge Trump with conspiring with Russia during the 2016 election or obstructing justice. “The alternative would have taken us through a wrenching process with the potential for constitutional crisis,” he said. “The business of government can move on.” NO, the business of government can NOT move on until we remove the corrupt, criminal, lying bully heading this government. So, like all republicans, he condemns the lying bully, but not enough to stand up to him. Words mean nothing until he calls for the lying bully’s conviction.
glenn
There is more ways than one to skin this rabid cat. Watergate type hearings coupled w solid links to how he’s screwed the American people would be my absolute best outcome.
choicelady

MurphTheSurf3

REMEMBER…a core GOP tactic is to show signs of going along with Democratic action and then torpedoing it when it comes time to lay down a vote. They will do the same with impeachment.
MurphTheSurf3
I met Nadler, a friend of a friend, in 2009 in DC. I am totally impressed with him. I had a different issues (convicting those guilty of torture) to which he gave him SOLID advice and direction that was right on the money. I met Schiff a few months ago in Sacramento. These are two amazing minds and courageous men. I will follow their lead.
choicelady
CL – The point of impeachment is not having confidence that The Senate will vote to remove. It is having a public hearing that exposes Trump wholly as colluding with Russia, obstructing justice and stomping all over the rule of law. That is a very valuable tool in keeping Trump in check, as impeachment goes on, he will be afraid to do anything horrible. And a bigger amount of voters will see him as a sick maniac. So if The Senate doesn’t remove him, voters will suddenly forget all that was revealed in the House impeachment investigation? Nope.
AdLib an hour ago
CL–I agree with the Watergate type hearings, but “how he’s screwed the American people” is a feature for republicans, not a bug. They want to see the government screw the American people. It seems that republican voters look for that…hence all of the “owning the libs” nonsense. The republican electorate, at least the rabid lying bully supporters, don’t see the lying bully as screwing them, only the libs, and that’s their goal.
glenn

pinkpantheroz

MurphTheSurf3

Impeachment is not about definitely convicting and removing a president. It is the Constitutional power Congress has and has the responsibility of exercising to keep a check on the president when high crimes or misdemeanors may have been committed. Having a pseudo-impeachment is okay but it lacks the constitutional punch of impeachment and may accomplish less.
AdLib an hour ago
Murph – LOL – AdLib can tell you: I’m a nobody who gets to hobnob with the somebodies. I learn. I don’t make change, but I know how to follow it!
choicelady
CL – I believe in those Dems and in their making their absolutely best efforts to get to the truths behind the Mueller report and other Trump crimes.
AdLib an hour ago
Ad – no disagreement. None. This is about the most effective strategy we can use to bring him down. Impeachment seems dangerously wrong. Hearings and major explosions of his treachery coupled with his callouse neglect of our people seems right.
choicelady
CL…..go to a mirror, look into it intently and say: “I AM SOMEBODY!” Cuz you are! One of the brightest somebodies I know and if get in at the side door that just adds to your lustre.

Trump has floated the meme that the Mueller effort was an attempted coup! Impeachment hearings will provide him ammo to feed that scenario ad nauseam.
MurphTheSurf3
PPO – Not a lot about the Trump clones except that Don Jr. was seen as being too possibly ignorant that he was breaking laws to be charged with them. So for rich and powerful white people, ignorance of the law is an excuse. Barr is now saying being frustrated is also an excuse for committing crimes.
AdLib an hour ago
PPO….you are no slacker your self buddy! And a very good person on top of that.
MurphTheSurf3

AdLib an hour ago
CL>…oh I think so….but I was playing along with the comment and the image.
MurphTheSurf3

MurphTheSurf3
CL – I got your number!
AdLib an hour ago
CL – FUll bodied brain with just a hint of blackberry.
AdLib an hour ago
Ad and PPO – we can get him scorned without going impeachment. Back to “Watergate style hearings.” I really favor those for two reasons: expose the sucker for what he’s done AND very possibly move the needle in the Senate to convict.
choicelady
PPO…..what a great image that is….his named edifices going away….and being replaced by nothing….or maybe trash dumps.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph – I am a tortoise: slow and steady wins the race.
choicelady

PPO – I can’t see Trump quitting, especially because Mueller’s report made clear he will probably be indicted once he leaves office. It’s about staying out of prison for Trump.
AdLib an hour ago
CL….just look at his adoring eyes and know that CL has Pence Pegged.
MurphTheSurf3

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – NOW YOU’RE TALKING!!!
choicelady

CL – But the historical question here is, if Trump’s blatant crimes don’t justify the house acting on impeachment, regardless of what the outcome in The Senate would be, doesn’t it open the door for even worse monsters becoming president and staying undisturbed in power?

CL – We’d still have Trump after impeachment but his last 2 years would be tied in a knot and he would be too busy trying to defend himself. Keeping so much worse damage from happening if he was left free.

Ad….our government was an ideal created by men who did not want to be Parliamentary like England and what we have, and have had for nearly all of our history, is a system that cements incompetents, liars, creeps, crooks and Trumps into a place from which they can not be extricated without a major seismic break.

I was driving through the mid part of CA today. Barely a farmworker to be seen. We are desperate here in CA because the WALL issue has cut access to farm labor by about 90%. He’s made such STUPID decisions. It has hurt everyone.

Don’t forget that Pence was prepping to run instead of Trump after the Access Hollywood tape came up. Pence is loyal….until he stabs you in the back He is evil.

Ad – the multiparty Parliamentary system is even worse. We can FIX ours. Not sure they can fix theirs. It’s exactly what got Hitler elevated.

Gee, maybe the CA farmers will have to offer Living Wages to attract workers. Now thats a radical thought, isn’t it?

Murph – It is a system wide labor shortage.

CL – I think Trump has the confidence of his ignorance. He always feels he can lie his way out of everything and I’m not happy to say it but if Pelosi refuses to impeach him, he may be right for the time being (until he is out of office and hopefully indicted).
AdLib 38 minutes ago
PPO – even a living wage wouldn’t attract basically urban homeless people. It stinks as a job, and immigrants are the only ones who WILL do it.

Choice….we disagree re. Parliamentary system….Germany pre WWII was an aberration because the system was so badly structured and allowed for an institutional coup….the parties were shells.

Murph – Definitely a major flaw in our system of government, that the hurdles are beyond leaping to remove a dangerous criminal from the WH.
AdLib 37 minutes ago
Ad – Pelosi doesn’t HAVE to impeach him to rattle him to his core. Nadler and Schiff and Waters and all the others will eviscerate him. Lay his entrails out for all the ravens and vultures to pick over.

PPO – no, he fired everyone, and I don’t know who is doing the work.

CL….I know a roofer in my town who has employed temporary workers from central america from early spring through early winter. He owns houses where they reside. pays well, has health care for them…..and now he cannot get them here. He is desperate.

Murph – I saw this again (Germany I think, could be wrong) where the Greens (not OUR stupid ones but theirs) had to make pacts w the far right to survive. It’s a dicey system.

CL – And what about the soybean farmers and such who have been crushed by Trump’s tarrifs? Farmers are being hammered by Trump yet embrace his hatred so much, they just blame Dems. And truckers have been slammed by the tax changes which take their expenses away from being deducted. And coal miners keep losing their jobs and are getting worse health care. Yet all the kneejerks keep embracing Trump.

CL…a longer discussion is needed for this but there are problems re. coalition government. Yes.

CL – There are issues with parliamentary systems but they do allow for more control by a winning party than our system.
AdLib 34 minutes ago
Ad – apparently the ‘support’ by the truckers et al. is waning. I think they’re seeing he has lied to them BIG TIME. It’s not as solid a base as it was.
