Vox Populi, our weekly live chat about the week’s events begins tonight at 7:00pm PDT. Hope to see you then! AdLib 4 hours ago
Good evening AdLIb twilson117 3 hours ago
Hey TW! AdLib 3 hours ago
Looks like we’ll have a lot to discuss tonight. twilson117 3 hours ago
Hi all. Well, what a week, eh? pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
Hey PPO how are you tonigh twilson117 3 hours ago
Yes! Things in the country have been good and bad. Chauvin getting 22.5 years and Trump Org about to be indicted and bipartisan infrastructure looking possible, while Repubs are trying to declare a Civil War against our democracy. AdLib 3 hours ago
Hey PPO! AdLib 3 hours ago
Well please about the Floyd sentencing. pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
22.5 years is significant twilson117 3 hours ago
PPO – That’s a big deal! Longest sentance against a white cop in MN history. AdLib 3 hours ago
PPO yes it is twilson117 3 hours ago
Hey Murph twilson117 3 hours ago
I understand some being disappointed it wasn’t 30 years for Chauvin but 22 years, which could be 15 years with good behavior, is a good start on convicting cops for murder. AdLib 3 hours ago
Hey Murph! AdLib 3 hours ago
‘ I told him, ‘Giulie, beware the Ides of March”! Poor Rudi, . Not! pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
Hello friends. MurphTheSurf3 3 hours ago
As if he’ll survive 15 even, Ad. pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
Hi, Murph! pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
Oh yeah, Giuliani getting suspended, probably permanently, from practicing law. And on the same date that Roy Cohn was disbarred. AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad, hopefully the precedent is now set for murderers in police uniforms. pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
Think about all the lawyers around Trump who have been disbarred, Cohn, Cohen, Giuliani…could Sidney Powell and Bill Barr be next? AdLib 3 hours ago
PPO read the document where Giuliani law license was suspended, from my view it’s clear Rudi is losing it mentally. twilson117 3 hours ago
3 former Australian PMs are calling for a Royal Commission into Murdoch Media. pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
PPO Really now that’s something. twilson117 3 hours ago
PPO – I hope Chauvin suffers each and every day at being in prison. What could be more of a hell for an ex-cop? AdLib 3 hours ago
The big story in my neck of the woods is that Missouri is Number One…..in the spread of the new COVID Delta Variant in the USA…..we have hospitals in the south of the state that are at capacity in their ICU and CCU units with transfers to city hospitals to make room for more of the sick in rural Missouri. 36 percent of the state is vaccinated….and now it looks like the vaccinationmay not be as effective against the variant as was originally hoped (per an Israeli study)…So back to the masks. MurphTheSurf3 3 hours ago
Ad, the guards will protect him as much as they can, but….. pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
AdLib let’s not forget there are fed charges to come as well for Chauvin twilson117 3 hours ago
Sorry to hear that, Murph. Stay safe! pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
PPO – Yes, I hope this helps the case for ending qualified immunity and sets a precedent for state prosecutors to handle killer cop cases. If the local DA handled this, it would have gone like all the other cases, dropped or failed. AdLib 3 hours ago
PPO – That would be fantastic. Murdoch needs to be held responsible for his insurgencies. AdLib 3 hours ago
Murph, you could have predicated that with the failure on the part of the folks in your neck of the woods not wanting to be vaccinated or wear masks. So what’s their excuse now? More of the same, “the devil made me do it?” twilson117 3 hours ago
Murph – Yes, sorry to hear that but I saw MO is leading the country in COVID infections (though I bet FL really is since DeathSantis cooks the numbers). It’s raging out of control there, you should keep your distance from those Trumper co-op members, They are likely to spread it. AdLib 3 hours ago
PPO – I bet Chauvin is kept apart from the general prison population but that kind of isolation can be awful too. But since he is a white racist, he will have those types possibly accepting him. AdLib 3 hours ago
PPO isn’t that the procedure for cops? \ twilson117 3 hours ago
Murph, Sorry that they listen to the Murdoch and Koch talking potato heads, the people that think they know more than epidemiologists and economists. pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
No problem keeping my distance from the CO-OP Trumpers because the entire effort is moribund. MurphTheSurf3 3 hours ago
TW – Yes, glad there are Fed charges too against Chauvin and the three other cops. I don’t know though if a fed sentence would run concurrently with his state sentence or subsequently. Any idea? AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad, someone on Twitter said the Fed sentences would be consecutive, not concurrent. I’m not sure. pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
Ad have no idea on the concurrent part but your assessment seems logical twilson117 3 hours ago
Murph – If the open racism didn’t kill the co-op, having insistent Trumper/anti-vaxxers as the Delta variant runs wild would do it. AdLib 3 hours ago
Sorry, Murph, to hear its all gone west. pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
PPO – Hope that’s the case. I am against the death penalty out of principle but I also think those who take the lives of others suffer more spending their lives in prison, having to face each day that they lost the life they had and nearly everything else for taking the life of an innocent human being. AdLib 3 hours ago
Murph, racism denialism and plain old fashion stupidity will only result in people going against their best interests. twilson117 3 hours ago
When Trump was in the WH, I would dread waking up each morning to learn of the latest madness. With Biden, each week brings a share of good things that renews your faith that good things can happen. AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad…and PPO and TW….I am saddened by the passing of the Co-Op….but I am just so tired of having to put with the nonsense of the right-wrongers. The two black farmers have completely withdrawn from any effort to associate with us, several of the long term middle of the roaders are citing the situation and their ages as prompts to step aside….and I have been doing next to nothing in regard to its upkeep…..the folks from the right and far right do not seem to have noticed. MurphTheSurf3 3 hours ago
POTUS is going gangbusters! So much being done. Yet people moan that few arrests, suspensiions, etc.. Give the man room! It will happen. Hopefully before the next election. Seems the former slug is finally being shunned. About time. pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
Murph – You remember what my ironic scenario has been with Trumpers. They refuse to vaccinate and then a variant spreads across the country, taking out many of them and leaving a bigger Dem citizenship. It was a fictional scenario before, I think it is more possible now. AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad…my worry is that the variant seems to be taking a significant toll on the vaccinated as well. MurphTheSurf3 3 hours ago
Murph it’s a shame you have to forgo something you enjoy doing because of the bigotry of a few. twilson117 3 hours ago
Wouldn’t it be both terrible and ironic that all the changes that Repubs are trying to make to deny people the right to vote, to shift elections to them, could be undermined by a larger percentage of their voters dying from COVID out of loyalty to the Kool-Aid Commander in Chief? AdLib 3 hours ago
Murph – But if you and the others have stepped back from the co-op, how have they not noticed it’s struggling? AdLib 3 hours ago
As to Biden….I think he is doing a superior job in the WH…all that experience, his years with Obama, an outstanding team….and a clear set of goals across multiple fronts…..he is shining. MurphTheSurf3 3 hours ago
Ad, same here in GOP-controlled NSW. Delta spreading like the plague (apt!), State fools refusing until today to lock down. Now many more cases popping up. We here in Victoria (Labor) are closing the border, quarantining anyone here from NSW and keeping cases to one or two a day. The right way to dod it. pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
Murph, at least the vaccinated aren’t dying as much as the noon-v’ed pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
Ad, it Chauvin is hit with federal charges they could be be the same length and run concurrently but it would be up to the judge to make that decision, so there is the possibility he could be in jail for 40+ years. twilson117 3 hours ago
PPO – To be honest, in the primary season for Dems, I thought Biden would be a caretaker president at best. I happily admit I was wrong then, he’s kicking ass, he’s got approvals between 56% and 60% and good things are getting done, especially help for the 99% and the poor. Biden had the chance to be an FDR and he’s going for it! AdLib 3 hours ago
TW…I have been proud of the work being done by the co-op for family farmers and small businesses AND the fringe benefit of providing a place where common purpose and common effort led to a diverse community…all of that is true. Yes, MurphTheSurf3 3 hours ago
Murph – Saw my doctor today, he said a study of 3 million vaccinated people resulted in only 33 people getting COVID and having symptoms, only 3 died. So I don’t think at those percentages that the vaccinated need to be highly concerned. You may get the Delta variant but the odds of even being symptomatic or next to zero. AdLib 3 hours ago
Muprh I have the same question as PPO how is the right wing are not noticing the lack of upkeep? twilson117 3 hours ago
Ad…your observation about those who appear not to have to noticed about our struggles is a good one….perhaps what is happening is denialism…..the co-op was no good so no good was being done and nothing has been lost. MurphTheSurf3 3 hours ago
Ad, Joe has hired himself some of the best brains in the business, with fantastic effect. Confidence is high. BTW, I loved his ‘whispers’! Some folks totally didn’t get it. pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
Murph – I was not a big Hillary fan but of course I voted for her against Trump without any reservation. But the meme about her was that she was the best prepared candidate to run for president. To be frank, I think Biden is proving that he is the best prepared to have ever run for president. AdLib 3 hours ago
TW and Ad…..the more I think on it….admitting that the things not being done are significant would be to lend legitimacy to our work over the last 12 years….that they would not want to do. MurphTheSurf3 3 hours ago
Great twitter observations: Who still has their law licences? Bill, Hillary and Barack. Oh, and Hunter still has his laptop! pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
PPO – I’m sorry to hear that the Delta variant is spreading so much in the NSW but glad to hear that Victoria is closing the border, it’s necessary to protect the people who have been trying to do the right thing. The RWs don’t care about the health and lives of anyone else, they shouldn’t be around anyone else then to harm them. AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad…..I too thought of Biden as a placeholder but as it is turning out, if he can effectively neuter GOP obstructionism, he may emerge as a very significant Chief Executive with a place in the WH Hall of Fame. MurphTheSurf3 3 hours ago
Murph if they are in denial around vaxcines masks then denialism around the benefit of the cop-op doesn’t seem much of a stretch. d twilson117 3 hours ago
TW..that it does. MurphTheSurf3 3 hours ago
Murph, agree. The RW media are tying themselves in ever-tightening knots trying to find anything to beat Joe with. Failing miserably. pinkpantheroz 3 hours ago
PPO…your NSW report is eerily familiar. MurphTheSurf3 3 hours ago
I know it may sound cold but doesn’t it seem Darwinian that the morons who only believe lies and represent the greatest threat to our democracies are possibly thinning the herd of themselves? AdLib 3 hours ago
PPO….Biden seems to have a bit of teflon about him…not from being a sly operator but from being a genuine, down to earth person. MurphTheSurf3 3 hours ago
`TW – That would be my hope, that a Fed judge would want the sentence from a civil rights case to have some impact and not want it to run concurrently. AdLib 2 hours ago
Murph, any invented ‘scandal’ about him is a non-starter. But I do wish Congress could eject all those RWNJs who were accessories to 1/6. That cancer needs to be excised. pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Ad…..I am asked regularly why I am wearing a mask….the line I have been using is that “I am an American exercising my right of free expression and because I am at liberty to protect myself and my community from a deadly disease as I judge best.” MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Murph all the years in the Senate and 8 years as VP has prepared Biden for the job he now has. twilson117 2 hours ago
Murph – Interesting. But I would think that despite their denialism, the racists in the co-op will suffer financially from it’s failure. True or not? AdLib 2 hours ago
PPO…one of the reasons I think the GOP has tried to block the investiage of 1/6 is fear that their complicity will be uncovered and exposed. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Muprh I have no doubt about the GOP fearing what would come out of a joint commission. twilson117 2 hours ago
TW…and part of that experience are the mistakes, missteps, and poor judgments he was a part of and admits to….as places where he learned a lot and where his path was straightened. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
PPO – Yes, aside from a couple of choices here and there, Biden has been amazing at the cabinet and staff he’s brought on board. Not to mention, he’s had more Fed judges confirmed than ANY president before him, at least in modern times. So the Trump corruption on the judicial system is being diluted every week! AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad….likely true but they will find a way to blame me and other moderates for their pain…and thus “win” MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Murph, I think there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that they assisted and perhaps encouraged insurrection. Thank goodness Mme Speaker has announced the inquiry. pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Muprh you’re right on that. He saw what happen when the went small on the stimulus package in 08 twilson117 2 hours ago
Murph, he also brought back some of the knowledgeable people that were in the admin with him. twilson117 2 hours ago
Ad…we have not seen Glenn in a while….I wrote her a quick note tonight. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
hey Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Hello Angela MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Ad, Murph, PPO, TW how are you? Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
hi angela pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Hey Angela twilson117 2 hours ago
Murph – I wonder if Trump’s attacks on Biden as being sleepy, senile, etc. has helped to insulate him from being successfully attacked? Everything Trump touches, dies, even his attacks. AdLib 2 hours ago
Hey Angela! AdLib 2 hours ago
I missed last week, was totally zonked. Tonight I got a headache but I am here Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
You all hear that the Trump Org. might be criminally charged as soon as next wek? Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
I so hope it is true! There was an item about it on ABC World News with David Muir tonight Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Ad….and now Giuliana’s legal vampirism is being exposed to light and death is imminent…what Trump touches withers eventually…yes. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Angela yes couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. twilson117 2 hours ago
Murph – A great response to those questioning your masking up (and believing in science and protecting others). AdLib 2 hours ago
Well, could not happen to a more deserving guy, anyway Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Ad….thanks for the endorsement…it does seem to stop them dead. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
I just tell them that it is none of their business, and to worry about what they do, and not what I do Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Angela, Trump** and the family have to be sweating bullets twilson117 2 hours ago
Maybe, at last, we can see actual indictments and even arrests happening next week. Hope so. pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Oh, I can’t WAIT!! Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Murph – glenn is missed, she said last time that she was just falling asleep before Vox but read up on it the next day (you know I publish each Vox). So hopefully she’ll be reading this and know she’s missed (and she should take a nap on Fridays so she can join us). AdLib 2 hours ago
Angela…thanks for asking…..times are…challenging…… MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
I will be singing and laughing and dancing. I am sorry, but, after all the pain those assholes caused my community, I want them to H-U-R-T!! Badly. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Ad…with you on that…Glenn has also had some health challenges……I think I will give her a call. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
I want them to hurt in proportion to how they hurt us. I want them to feel what we felt! Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
I want them to feel under attack like we did Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Giuliani is going down, Weiselberg is going down, The Trump Org is going down, it sure seems like the sky is just going to crash down on the whole Trump crime family. And that’s a great feeling! It’s also one great way to stop this insurgency, cut of the head of the snake and it dies. AdLib 2 hours ago
Did any of you see Randy Rainbow’s parody song about Guiliani? I laughed my ass off Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Murph – True, that’s a good point. A good reason to call or email her. AdLib 2 hours ago
Angela…..Randy Rainbow? MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Will see it, Angela, Randy is incredibly talented. AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad, shame about the lingering fallout from the Mob’s screwing the USA. Racism, violence, guns, guns guns all open and the pollies could care less. That needs to be reined in pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Angela…just found it….hysterical…book marked. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
PPO…we are a mess. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Murph…how did you keep your sanity for four years and not know who Randy Rainbow is?? Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Angela…..obviously…..I live in a land of dunderheads and have succumbed to dunderheadism. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Here’s a link to the parody: https://youtu.be/upBCQo5bkJc Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
PPO – The hard truth right now is that we are in an actual Civil War but it is not analog. It is digital, it is societal, it isn’t fought with rifles, it’s fought with threats, intimidation, hatred and racism and yes, violence. The states aren’t at war but the white racist majority in red states are at war with all Americans who aren’t them. AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad…I certainly see the Civil War here. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Pretty much. I’d say we were in a Civil Cold War. One that is heating up. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Here’s the embed Angela: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upBCQo5bkJc
AdLib 2 hours ago
thanks, was not sure how to embed here\ Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Angela – You just have to use the full URL, the mobile URL from YouTube doesn’t embed on this chat program. AdLib 2 hours ago
oh. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Ad, there are time when I wish there was more junkyard mongrel in the Dems. the bring feather dusters to a WWE stoush. pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
PPO I agree with you on that, the Dems could use a bit more attack dog in them. twilson117 2 hours ago
Murph – You may recall my articles previously about America being in a cold Civil War. That ended under Trump, we are in a full-fledged but very asymmetrical Civil War right now. We have insurrectionists in Congress, we’ve had an attack by their allies to stop the election process and install their dictator. The war is under way and Dems need to act like it, Repubs already are. AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad, hilarious! never saw this guy before. Priceless! pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Angela…I have friends who have struggled with their son’s personal emotional pain for years…his angst……a courageous teacher at his middle school suggested that he might be struggling with his sexual identification in a society where such struggle is simple not acceptable. The parents face up to this, joined a support group, got their son into contact with appropriate resources and now is on the way to really understanding and accepting himself. That teacher….caught flack but has been protected by admirable principal and superintendent…her in Mo. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
I do not know whjy they try so hard to suppress people, Murph Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Angela….Ad is a master at URL Magic. I am not. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
PPO, so you never saw Randy Rainbow before? Now you have to watch lots of him. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
I got one more embed. Hang on. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
PPO – The Progressive Dems are the real fighters in Congress, they can bring the heat. The Schumers and such just blather on about how disappointed they are and how they won’t give up. Not good enough. AdLib 2 hours ago
Angela…fear and loathing…..of themselves I suspect. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Yes, new discovery. pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
PPO – Kalima would often post his videos in Time Out, some are literally incredible and genius. AdLib 2 hours ago
I wanna know who does THIS good a Petula Clark, eh?? Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Ad…I agree the war is on…..a guerilla war on some front, trench warfare on others, and frontal assaults on still others. But war. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Thanks Ad, Angela . I haven’t seen to/ot for a while. Will check them out. pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
No problem, I love this stuff, it is how I survived four years. They kept my sanity Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Ad…how is Kalima? MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Murph, don’t think for one minute that the WH isn’t aware of this. pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Angela – Haven’t seen that one before, really enjoying it! Dumb Down could be the 2024 GOP Platform in 2024. AdLib 2 hours ago
The WH under Biden is very, very aware… MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Who saw the General hand Gaetz’s his ass on a plate? pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Angela – And congrats at embedding the video! AdLib 2 hours ago
PPO…I did and I saw Goetz shaking his head in denial….worth a few grand in fund rasing. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
ok, I hestiate to embed this one…so I will just give the URL you can copy… Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Angela….you have the embed gene it seems. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
This is a montage I made…4 Years of Hell in 100 Minutes: Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
https://youtu.be/-8cL54DJu4s Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
PPO Gatez was beside himself twilson117 2 hours ago
Angela…I will book mark the url to watch later. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
The one I just put up is quite literally about 100 minutes, so no embed, but you will enjoy it. I did this mostly for hiostorical purposes to remember the hell of the Trump years. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Nowhere to go but squirm. Well, that’s it for me this week. Take care and STAY SAFE, all of you. pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Ad why do all my post right justify? twilson117 2 hours ago
Murph – But Dems don’t want to speak that word…”war”. It is true though, this CRT campaign is a racist attack alongside the election corruption laws. We are at war and I think a high profile Dem should start calling it out and the GOP out as a party at war with America and all it stands for. They are the pedophiles, the murderers, the traitors, the crooks, the ones trying to destroy the country. Of course they project that on Dems, time to turn that around and make a call to arms, in an activist way, to defeat this enemy of the U.S.. AdLib 2 hours ago
Angela…thanks for the work…hope we have seen him and his ilk for the last time but I fear not. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Murph – Kalima is doing okay. AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad…a strong argument. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Ad. thanks…. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
No problem, Murph. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
The video is blocked in Japan, I think. I had to cut one section out of the original montage to get it unblocked here in the United States. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Well I too am heading for the door. My bed calls out to me…… MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
The weird thing is…at the end, I made a point of putting up credits for all authors works as I could, and did not in any way monetize the montage. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Angela – Here’s the embed of your video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8cL54DJu4s
AdLib 2 hours ago
Yeah, if you want to watch 100 minutes here on small screen Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
See you al l next week. We all need to soldier in the civil war… MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
bye, Murph Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Take care Murph twilson117 2 hours ago
TW – That’s unusual, all your posts look left justified on my window. Maybe try clearing your cache after tonight’s session, might be something quirky in there making it look that way on your computer. AdLib 2 hours ago
Seeya Murph! Hang in there! AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad I will do that, I’m heading out for the night twilson117 2 hours ago
bye TW Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Got it, TW! Have a great weekend! Hope you had a great Father’s Day last weekend! AdLib 2 hours ago
Just you and me again Ad, eh?? Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Take care twilson117 2 hours ago
Looks like it, Angela. We’ve closed the bar before. AdLib 2 hours ago
I always close the bar, LOL Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
So Biden was out your way yesterday, was he near you? AdLib 2 hours ago
And the funny thing is…I do not een drink. I am known as the sober person at my bar. I go there for the karaoke Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
He was not too far from me…he was in North Raleigh Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
That’s why you can close the bar! The ones who drink are out before. AdLib 2 hours ago
Maybe about 7 miles or so from me as the crow flies…perhaps 12 miles by roads. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
It is kind of amazing to consider where we were under Trump just 6 months ago and all that has changed and is changing since then. 4 years of upset and despair can take a lot out of you and leave you unprepared for what it’s like to have public servants who really want to help people. AdLib 2 hours ago
Anyway, I did this montage of mine a while back…I wanted to, as I say, document the Trump Era. For historical purposes that we may never again make such an awful mistake Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Yeah, but I just got a source of piss-off from Governor Cooper Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
I am about to rip him a new one on QNotes. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
And the Trump chapter in history is still being written, hopefully next week the criminal prosecution chapter starts being written. AdLib 2 hours ago
Hopefully! Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
What did Cooper say or do this time? AdLib 2 hours ago
He completely has ignored the trans community, giving himself credit for HB-142, mentioning working with EqualityNC…who does not truly help us trans…and totally ignoring the Transgender Political Caucus of the NCDP…the first such Caucus in the nation…and dissing me and Janice…the two most prominent trans Democrats in NC. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
We two are both Officers of the NCDP and sit on the FUCKING EXECUTIVE COUNCIL…and he does not consult us for jack shit on trans issues! Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Why? What is that about for him? AdLib 2 hours ago
Probably because we will tell him the fucking truth! Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
That is messed up. AdLib 2 hours ago
Do you lobby him often? AdLib 2 hours ago
In 2019, he opened the Governor’s Mansion to invited guests from Equality NC for Pride…and failed to invite Janice Covington, myself or Wendy May…at the time, the three most prominent trans Democrats in the state, two of whom at the time sat on the State Executive Council…all three of us sat of the State Executive Committee….and one of us was a Delegate tot he DNC….and we were snubbed. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
He refuses to ever meet with us. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Was there an incident or is this just who he is? AdLib 2 hours ago
This is who he is. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
hey, a sec…I am gonna embed another Randy Rainbow for us to watch together, you will laugh your ass off at this one… Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Watching… AdLib 2 hours ago
You see why this guy kept my sanity? Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Okay…this is now one of my favorites of his! AdLib 2 hours ago
I thought you’d love that one. It’s one of my faves of his too Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
It’s in my montage, too Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Trump: Pirate of DependsAss. AdLib 2 hours ago
There’s about 12 Randy Rainbow songs in my montage Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
OMFG, LOL Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
I will watch it! AdLib 2 hours ago
Like I said, it is 100 minutes long, so you really want to have the time….or watch it in pieces. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
I’ll pop the popcorn first. AdLib 2 hours ago
Good idea! Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Hey, did you hear the VA is considering financing Gender Reassignment Surgery for trans veterans now? Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
I just found it so difficult to portray the entire Trump era without leaving out big things. So many enormous outrages, blunders, disasters, etc. It would take a series with multiple seasons to portray it all. Like The Crown but maybe named, The Clown. AdLib 2 hours ago
Yes I did, that was at Biden’s request, wasn’t it? AdLib 2 hours ago
This is why my montage is 100 minutes long. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
I tried to include some from every bit of the four years….mostly chronological…but it loses some linearity in the middle Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
I think, yes, it was Biden’s request Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
If we could just pass the For The People Act and stripped Repubs of corrupting the system, we could build good policies over a long period of time since they could never hold power again in a fair system. Then things like trans rights could be built on every year, not reversed 4 or 8 years later. AdLib 2 hours ago
exactly Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
I have an idea about that, by the way Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
And I am working with a few other activists here to see if we can organize this… Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Just….imagine….as I lay this out… Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
It’s a difficult task to really cover all the insanity of Trump’s reign. But the downfall is the part of the season finale I can’t wait to watch. AdLib 2 hours ago
We are now, more or less, post-pandemic….after a year and a half of fear and social distancing…right?? Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Right. AdLib 2 hours ago
Now….imagine this…. Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Yep! AdLib 2 hours ago
We have a Hands Across America of people standing up for HR1 Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Imagine 5-6 thousand MILES of Americans holding hands across America for HR1 Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
We did Hands Across America once before… Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Now, how can ANY legislator not notice 5-6 thousand MILES of Americans standing up for HR1 Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
That would be pretty intimidating to those Repub Senators, especially need to do that in purple and red states. Would get a lot of coverage. AdLib 2 hours ago
That’s the idea! Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
Now, you think this could get pulled off? Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
I am the ideas person, I am not good with the nuts and bolts. I am good at the ideas…and putting out the fires that happen along the way Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
I have a friend of mine on a group #TheResistance who loves the idea…and has some more connections….I want to see if this can be pulled off Angela Bridgman 2 hours ago
It would take a lot of outreach and cooperation with many organizations, especially ones like BLM and other minority rights groups. AdLib 2 hours ago
Yep. It would take a lot…But I think, with the right people, we can do this. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Trying to get in touch with Stacey Abrams. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
But it is possible. It could also work as a social media thing, if you had influencers who could get behind it. AdLib an hour ago
That’s the sort of person we need onboard with this Angela Bridgman an hour ago
That’s what I am trying to do…I just launched the idea a few days ago…trying to network and shop the idea Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Like I said…after a year and a half of social distancing…this could send a serious fucking message!! Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Yes, it would be a very high profile event! AdLib an hour ago
That is the idea. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Especially if it wrapped around the offices of Repub Congresspeople. AdLib an hour ago
I want to make it literally impossible for them to NOT do this. Because we need to make voting a true right for everyone, and get rid of gerrymandering Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Have to also wrap around Manchin and Sinema’s offices Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Oh yeah, definitely Manchin and Sinema! AdLib an hour ago
I mean, could this be seriously awesome or what, though? Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Absolutely! AdLib an hour ago
I am, as I said, shopping this idea around, trying to get some high-power people to glom on. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
I mean….this is way bigger than anything I or any one person could do on their own. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
It’s the kind of thing that can snowball if you can just get some high profile organizers on board. AdLib an hour ago
Just as long as everyone knows where the IDEA came from!!! Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Put your copyright on it. AdLib an hour ago
I don’t have the money to do a copyright…and I am not sure I could copyright it since a Hands Across America was once done before. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
A copyright is cheap, you may be thinking of a trademark. AdLib an hour ago
not sure, I’d have to find out. In either case, I am not sure if I could copyright it Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Because, like I said, Hands Across America was done once before…maybe about 40 years ago…35 at least Angela Bridgman an hour ago
It’s a good question. What may be easiest is to form an organization and make it the sponsor…or have the NCDP be the initial sponsor? AdLib an hour ago
I am not sure I could actually get the NCDP to officially sponsor it…I am NOT that high up in the food chain in the NCDP, really. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
I can tell you that if I was MISTER Bridgman…I would not even be as far up the chain as I am….because of being trans…for real. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Well, that’s a good thing! AdLib an hour ago
I really do believe my being trans helped me rise in the NCDP, though that is not any kind of a reason, of course, LOL Angela Bridgman an hour ago
For real…I rode a wave of sympathy and support from HB-2 to where I am right now in the Party. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
It’s good to be in an era when being trans can be an advantage. AdLib an hour ago
The truth is…I do not tow the Party Line enough – I fight the Party on some things… Angela Bridgman an hour ago
We’re not all the way there yet but considering where things used to be in this country, it is an improvement. AdLib an hour ago
And it makes some in the Party enemies. For real, I am either loved or hated depending on who yo ask, LOL Angela Bridgman an hour ago
That can be the irony, Dems pride themselves on their diversity but they reward conformity. AdLib an hour ago
Yep. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
And I am very much a non-conformist….in more ways than one. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
I tend to oppose some popular things, because I do ot believe they are substantive and do not believe they truly move the needle Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Same here, I grew up in the 70’s and being non-conformist was something most youth were “conforming” to. AdLib an hour ago
and some people (a lot in the black community) get pissed at me for it Angela Bridgman an hour ago
I would like to see some real, substantve things done for the black community and not the symbolic crap. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
But so many (especially young) seem to be style or substance. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
They call a style win a victory, and I ask what they really won, yaknow what I mean? Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Chat with Choicelady about her experience in working with Dems who just sabotage themselves. AdLib an hour ago
THAT is what I am talking about!@! Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Like, “Defund The Police” really fucked us…. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Yep! It’s bewildering. AdLib an hour ago
But if you speak against it…some will insist you are a racist Angela Bridgman an hour ago
and Cancel Culture is another thing I have issues with…I’ve seen too many times where the wrong person got bit by that stuff Angela Bridgman an hour ago
It hurt us down ballot. And it was ridiculous because only MAGAS should have believed that Dems would end policing. Walked right into that one. AdLib an hour ago
It makes most people afraid to speak on the sorts of things I do. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
It should have been, Reform the Police from the beginning. AdLib an hour ago
I say things that need to get said that most in our Party are afraid to say. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
YES!!! Angela Bridgman an hour ago
REFORM The Police….or even DEMILIATARIZE THE POLICE Angela Bridgman an hour ago
And focused on taking away most tasks from them aside from dealing with violent crime. AdLib an hour ago
YES!! Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Dam we are on the same wavelength. Take alll this non-policing crap away from cops. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Get social workers to respond to a lot of these things instead of armed officers who can only escalate situations Angela Bridgman an hour ago
They don’t have the training for the stuff they are asked to do Angela Bridgman an hour ago
But just saying Reform the Police is saying, “Make policing better”. Not opening the door for the propagandist Repubs to claim, “They’re going to end policing in America!” AdLib an hour ago
EXACTLY Angela Bridgman an hour ago
everything is messaging!!! Angela Bridgman an hour ago
I still say that “Build Back Better” won this thing for Biden. It was brilliant messaging Angela Bridgman an hour ago
As much as I hate Trump, MAGA was also brilliant messaging Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Yep, with you on that. Messaging and culture wars is all the RW has now, no issues or platforms aside from ending democracy and giving the wealthy our tax money. Dems need to be smart and always consider how Repubs will try to twist everything into an outrage or panic. AdLib an hour ago
It’s easy to message when the message is hate or fear. Very easy. It’s much harder to message about plans to improve life for Americans. Just like it’s easier to blow up a building than build one. AdLib an hour ago
Frankly, I’d go so far as to say BLM is going too far….making some whites who otherwise might support them…resentful….because it has gone so far that some whites – especially poor working whites – get to feeling left behind and ignored. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Being destructive is easy. You just smash up things. Being constructive is complicated and time consuming. AdLib an hour ago
We have to find a way to lift up EVERYONE not just a secgemnt Angela Bridgman an hour ago
We need to build a coalition where all feel valued and heard. I feel like BLM could be sabotaging this to some degree. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Don’t get me wrong, I will fight like hell for blacks and everyone else to be equal to me. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
In general, I think BLM has been very effective. I think they have a minority of extremists who undermine them and of course, the Repubs have exaggerated and demonized them…like “Antifa”, as if it was organized like a RW militia. AdLib an hour ago
But if I start feeling that blacks are being prioritized at my expense, and I am a poor white person…I’m gonna start getting resentful…yeah? Angela Bridgman an hour ago
This is what I worry about. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
The new suburban whites we got…being turned off. And minorities are not a reliable a coalition for the Dems as they were….as 2020 showed us Angela Bridgman an hour ago
We need to find a way to lift up all people, lift up all voices, and make everyone feel heard and valued. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
I might have these kinds of insights, because I am really completely in between generations. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Being smack in the middle of Gen X gives me to Boomers on one side, and the Millennials on the other. and I am right in between them…so I hear both groups. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
I just think BLM could really very easily overplay their hand. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
I mean, Defund The Police came out of BLM Angela Bridgman an hour ago
You see what I am getting at? Angela Bridgman an hour ago
This is why I am about fighting for things with true substance and not symbolism Angela Bridgman an hour ago
This is the conundrum. Blacks have been most outrageously oppressed in America since before its founding. At the same time, many other minorities, including the poor, have been oppressed. But only black people were treated as lesser humans, 3/5ths and they were primarily the ones bound in slavery, treated like owned animals. So that is the most extreme oppression and they deservedly are continuing their fight for equality. At the same time, there are many other groups of people who have been oppressed by bigotry and hatred and I can understand the feeling that their struggles against oppression are being de-prioritized. AdLib an hour ago
EXACTLY!! Angela Bridgman an hour ago
And you can’t say that without being accused of being a racist! Angela Bridgman an hour ago
I mean….as an older white trans…it pisses me off to hear “Black Trans Lives Matter” and “Protect Trans Youth” – and I am sitting there like….yeah…but what about MEEEEEEE? Angela Bridgman an hour ago
I can see people in other minorities doing exactly that! Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Stepping back, one can see that when anyone asserts that the focus should not be on a particular oppressed minority but on all minorities, it’s not hard to see how those in that minority feel slighted. It’s a tough thing to navigate. AdLib an hour ago
About the best effort I have seen on putting the right coalition together is Dr. Barber and The Poor People’s Campaign Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Because it has nothing to do with race, everything to do with being on the bottom of the heap Angela Bridgman an hour ago
I know, Ad…this is the problem I face. Blacks get pissed when I want to prioritize ALL oppressed minorities. But the fact is…we have to, otherwise many other mnorities are gonna get pissed off. I feel like this is the sort of thing that could fuel some racism. If that makes some sense. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Yes and the trap is that each minority group would want to make the case that their oppression is being the most ignored. AdLib an hour ago
Understand I do not personally feel all the things I am saying….I am expressing things I am hearing others say….and yes, some of them I also do believe. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
The point is….I really worry about us sabotaging ourselves. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
I don’t know how that can be easily figured out. How can you affirm your recognition for the oppression of others but want the oppression against your group equally addressed and not seem dismissive of those who feel they should be the priority? AdLib an hour ago
THAT IS PRECISELY THE PROBLEM!!!! Angela Bridgman an hour ago
thank you for stating it concisely…which I was not able to do Angela Bridgman an hour ago
It’s a tough one to figure out. AdLib an hour ago
I mean, I am sorry….but I make the case the trans….are today’s most oppressed. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Yes, you have, I was just underlining the quandry. AdLib an hour ago
WE are the only ones being directly attacked by harmful legislation!! Angela Bridgman an hour ago
You don’t see millions march for US!! Angela Bridgman an hour ago
I mean, why don’t OUR lives Matter AS MUCH?? Angela Bridgman an hour ago
see what I am getting at? Angela Bridgman an hour ago
I want everyone’s Lives to Matter. And not in the dismissive way that those who oppose BLM say it. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
The way the wealthy and powerful in the 1% have retained so much power in this country is by pitting groups of people against each other. That is the trap. AdLib an hour ago
YES!! Angela Bridgman an hour ago
This is why I like The Poor People’s Campaign Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Right. AdLib an hour ago
I think it is the right way to build the coalition. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
I think it would take building more of a big picture organization, like The Poor People’s Campaign, to bring like minded people from all groups of people together to fight against the oppression and division that the wealthy like the Kochs have instilled. AdLib an hour ago
YES!!! Angela Bridgman an hour ago
It is a lot less divisive Angela Bridgman an hour ago
The thing is, the enemies are all the same for all people who are oppressed. The ones behind the pushing of bigotry and division, it’s all the 1% financing this. Because if the people were united, they would grab back the power and wealth of these corrupt people. And these types know that, the only way to diffuse the power of the people is to get them to fight among themselves and oppress them. AdLib an hour ago
Exactly….and that is exactly WHY we do not need divisiveness amongst ourselves. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
We need EVERYONE who is oppressed feel heard, and valued….and truly beliviing they matter and will be helped Angela Bridgman an hour ago
This is part of what Build Back Better was talking about….how opportunity would be there for EVERYONE Angela Bridgman an hour ago
We need to work on messaging Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Oppress their rights, that is, especially, the right to vote but also the right to have genuine representation. Congress is corrupt, it defies the will of the majority constantly, repubs in Congress that is. This is not representative government anymore and the oppression of the people is needed to sustain this. AdLib an hour ago
And that is part of what led to my idea about Hands Across America for HR1 Angela Bridgman an hour ago
It’s a thing we could ALL come together on Angela Bridgman an hour ago
All I would throw out is that an organization that is all about focusing on bringing down the 1% who finance voter suppression laws, finance racist and homophobic groups, finance social media trolls to cause hatred and havoc, etc. AdLib an hour ago
Focus on the common enemy and that brings people together and working against oppression against all. AdLib an hour ago
That is what we need. The closest we have to it right now is The Poor People’s Campaign Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Yu DO KNOW there are some powerful people in our Party that do NOT support the ideas we are talking about….right??? Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Yes but a bigger org that didn’t define itself by its members but by its adversaries could work better. AdLib an hour ago
These are the people that I tend to make enemies of…and prevents me from rising further in the NCDP….I am fighting some very powerful people who have a different agenda than I do Angela Bridgman an hour ago
Yes, there are many Dems who are captured by the 1% and bow to them. And some who are only about their own power and career. AdLib an hour ago
And I am not talking about the elected representatives….but rather the money people….the ones pulling the strings in smoky back rooms. Angela Bridgman an hour ago
You might call them The Donor Class Angela Bridgman 44 minutes ago
A bunch of them who call themselves Dems…and even financially support the Dems…still do not support much of the agenda we rank and file folks do Angela Bridgman 44 minutes ago
Exactly! Money corrupts and most people in either party are vulnerable to being corrupted. It is affirming though to see Dems who push back against the wealthy, you don’t see that in the GOP, they are wholly owned and willing slaves. Ironic. AdLib 43 minutes ago
I feel like those people are in the background deliberately putting the brakes on progress for many. Not just the trans…but that is one group that is targeted by these folks. Angela Bridgman 43 minutes ago
Frankly, our new Representative (not mine) in Raleigh, Deborah Ross….let’s just say she is personally not friendly towards trans. Angela Bridgman 42 minutes ago
She says many of the right things…but whenever she is around me, the discomfort rolling off her is palpable. Angela Bridgman 42 minutes ago
So I wonder how sincere the words are…when I see the things I do Angela Bridgman 41 minutes ago
There are always people, even those claiming to be on the same side, who are involved in politics merely to satisfy their ego. They are the worst, they sabotage and delay progress because having power to stop things is still having power and the easiest to attain. AdLib 41 minutes ago
Exactly. Angela Bridgman 41 minutes ago
They are the equivalent of gremlins. AdLib 41 minutes ago
These are the things I see from my place within the NCDP. I am now close enough to see somewhat behind the scenes….where a lot of people do NOT see… Angela Bridgman 40 minutes ago
I CAN tell you there are powerful people in the NCDP who absolutely did not want me to win my election….but would never have said so publicly. Angela Bridgman 40 minutes ago
At least from my POV, I think it is harder to find selfless people who just want to accomplish good things for people than people claiming that who are really about fulfilling their emotional needs. AdLib 39 minutes ago
No shit. Angela Bridgman 39 minutes ago
And you know me well enough to know where I fall on that scale!! Angela Bridgman 39 minutes ago
And good luck actually getting elected when you want what I want. Angela Bridgman 38 minutes ago
Yep, I do! You put yourself out there and that was brave! AdLib 38 minutes ago
Hell, Melissa Sue Robinson is running for Governor in IDAHO as that state’s first trans to ever run for Governor!! THAT is fucking brave!! Angela Bridgman 38 minutes ago
Bravery is far more uncommon than one is led to believe from all the stories and movies we saw as kids. AdLib 37 minutes ago
Too many Americans do not know the dfference between bravado….and true bravery. Angela Bridgman 37 minutes ago
That is incredibly brave! And in one of the reddest states? Definitely! AdLib 37 minutes ago
Hollywood totally shows us bravado….NOT bravery Angela Bridgman 37 minutes ago
I mean…whenever I hear “Home Of The Brave” I think to myself…I fucking WISH we were the Home Of The Brave!! We are fucking afraid of EVERYTHING here in Ameriuca!! Angela Bridgman 36 minutes ago
Do you know how wearying it is to be one of the few brave people in America?? Life gave ME no choice!! Angela Bridgman 35 minutes ago
Movies, tv, stories are not to blame, they should try to show what is most noble in human beings. Stories should inspire people to be better, allegories about life should teach them important life lessons. The problem is, there is a wide gap between story telling and reality and nobody is explaining that. AdLib 35 minutes ago
exactly Angela Bridgman 35 minutes ago
What ever happened to goodies like “Its A Wonderful Life” that really showed stuff like that Angela Bridgman 34 minutes ago
Yep, how brave are the weak men who have to carry big guns around in public? In the south, they’re seen as tough. But how brave is that really, to need to have a gun? Cowards. AdLib 34 minutes ago
And nobody in this country seems to know satire anymore…or subtlety…you have to hit people over the head with a two by four to get them to understand anything anymore Angela Bridgman 33 minutes ago
Yep, love that movie. There are some shows and films that are more insightful about life and the nobility of being a human being. But since corporations own and produce most media out there, it’s more often just derivative stories meant just to seperate people from their money. AdLib 32 minutes ago
exactly the problem Angela Bridgman 31 minutes ago
Let me tell you something that, to this day…gets me….and you won’t believe this one… Angela Bridgman 30 minutes ago
But the end of Terminator 2….fucking makes me cry every time. Angela Bridgman 30 minutes ago
Because…. Angela Bridgman 30 minutes ago
It’s hard, when you’re living in the same world as the post-truth Trumpers, to use satire. I used to write satirical pieces here at The Planet but the preponderance of propaganda from Trump and his Klan made it much harder. AdLib 30 minutes ago
At the end, Sarah Connor says this: Angela Bridgman 30 minutes ago
The unknown future rolls towards us. I face it for the first time with a sense of hope. Because if a machine…a Terminator…can learn the value of human life….MAYBE WE CAN TOO Angela Bridgman 29 minutes ago
Very good. I’ve always liked it. AdLib 29 minutes ago
You know the line I am talking about?? Like I said, it makes me cry every time. Because so few humans seem to truly understand the value of human life Angela Bridgman 28 minutes ago
I would go way back
in film history to one of the most remarkable closing speeches in what
was, at the time, an incredibly brave movie. The Great Dictator, Chaplin
made it while Hitler was growing in power and invading countries. And
at the end, impersonating a satirical Hitler character, he says this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7GY1Xg6X20
AdLib 26 minutes ago
It’s very quiet Angela Bridgman 26 minutes ago
This is one of the greatest speeches in film. It still affects me. AdLib 26 minutes ago
What do you mean? You can’t hear it? AdLib 25 minutes ago
I can’t hear it well, have to try it with my headphones later Angela Bridgman 25 minutes ago
No, it is very quiet Angela Bridgman 25 minutes ago
I’ll see if there’s another clip. AdLib 25 minutes ago
This also has subtitles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HA8kSdsf_M
AdLib 24 minutes ago
excellent, let me try it Angela Bridgman 24 minutes ago
awesome Angela Bridgman 20 minutes ago
we need that message today Angela Bridgman 20 minutes ago
thanls for sharing that, I never saw that before Angela Bridgman 19 minutes ago
Absolutely, it is old but still poignant. AdLib 19 minutes ago
Very much so Angela Bridgman 19 minutes ago
You’d have to update it a bit….references tro the radio could be replaced by references to social medcia and the internet Angela Bridgman 18 minutes ago
The film is a great satire but Chaplin’s character is a Jewish barber who is among those attacked by Nazis. But it’s humorous. Weird how he did that. AdLib 18 minutes ago
well, the end there is not satire. Angela Bridgman 17 minutes ago
Yes, it has dated references but the basic message, of people having goodness in them but being dominated by the greedy and heartless is the same thing going on today. AdLib 17 minutes ago
Yep Angela Bridgman 17 minutes ago
No, the end is very serious and in film history, is considered one of the greatest ending monologues. WWII was starting. It would be like making a satirical film today about Trump and his followers trying to destroy our democracy and take over the country. AdLib 15 minutes ago
That is what I was thinking Angela Bridgman 14 minutes ago
But what it also illustrates is that the battle between people being free or dominated by the wealthy and powerful is a neverending conflict. Battles can be won but the war is neverending. As we found out after people thought so much about society was settled in the 1970’s. Then we had Trump drag us back to the 1950’s. AdLib 13 minutes ago
yeah. Angela Bridgman 12 minutes ago
And not that everything was settled in the 1970’s of course but that some issues, like being anti-war, supporting voting rights, abortion, racism being bad, etc. AdLib 12 minutes ago
Except that LGBTQ people like me…saw it decades ago…and tried to warn everyone else…but nobody would listen. Angela Bridgman 12 minutes ago
WE told the rest of you that this sick underbelly existed in America. WE knew it was there, because we had to look up at it every day. Angela Bridgman 12 minutes ago
Same for the blacks and other minorties Angela Bridgman 12 minutes ago
Stonewall was 1969. AdLib 12 minutes ago
Nobody believed….because it did not touch THEIR skin Angela Bridgman 11 minutes ago
There was still so much oppression in the 1970’s, just want to be clear that I’m just talking about the gains that were fought and won back then left that Boomer generation thinking they had won and yet, with Reagan just a couple of years later, the gains began being taken away and worse. AdLib 10 minutes ago
indeed Angela Bridgman 9 minutes ago
Reagan was literally hideous about wanting to let AIDS spread and wipe out the LGBTQ community. AdLib 9 minutes ago
yes, I know Angela Bridgman 7 minutes ago
hey…here’s an imbed from my montage too… Angela Bridgman 7 minutes ago
Angela Bridgman 7 minutes ago
isn’t that great?? Angela Bridgman 6 minutes ago
CLAP-CLAP! AdLib 5 minutes ago
Very funny! AdLib 5 minutes ago
Who knew there were so many talented singers/comedians/lyricists out there? AdLib 4 minutes ago
you will love my montage Angela Bridgman 4 minutes ago
Looking forward to it! AdLib 4 minutes ago
Well, guess we really closed the bar tonight! Really enjoyed our chat as always! AdLib 2 minutes ago
yep Angela Bridgman 2 minutes ago
Gonna get some sleep myself. Angela Bridgman 2 minutes ago
One thing Angela Bridgman 2 minutes ago
Yep? AdLib 2 minutes ago
I ended the montage….with credits to all whose work was used… Angela Bridgman 2 minutes ago
to the tune of “Hit The Road, Jack” by Buster Poindexter Angela Bridgman 2 minutes ago
Perfect! AdLib a minute ago
I am telling you you will love this montage. Angela Bridgman a minute ago
I gatehred up all the best stuff….stuff that got me thru those four years with my sanity intact Angela Bridgman a minute ago
good night!! Angela Bridgman a minute ago
I’ve got it ready to go! AdLib a few seconds ago
Sanity is good. AdLib a few seconds ago
sweet, you will have to let me know what you thjink Angela Bridgman a few seconds ago
bye now Angela Bridgman a few seconds ago
And a sane good night to you! AdLib a few seconds ago
Will do! AdLib a few seconds ago
