twilson117
Hey CL! How are things with you today?
AdLib2 hours ago
CL doing okay today
twilson117
Ad – doing OK. Busy day, but an OK one.
choicelady

Ad I guess I’m going to have to up my writing.
twilson117

Just shared with TW that Genn Kirschner is following our PlanetPOV account on BlueSky and TW’s newly published article was the first shared there.
AdLib2 hours ago
CL – Hope you’re relaxing now.
AdLib2 hours ago
OMG!!!! That is absolutely FANTASTIC!!!
choicelady
Ad – dinner’s over, dishes in the washer, all is well.

MURPH!!
choicelady
TW – Always good to have an incentive to write better and better.
AdLib2 hours ago
Hay Murph!
AdLib2 hours ago
Murph is in the house Ad break out the good stuff
twilson117
CL – Then with dishes done, all is right with the world for tonight.
AdLib2 hours ago
TW – The good stuff or the hard stuff?
AdLib2 hours ago
Ad it would do well to have both
twilson117
What’s everyone want to drink tonight?
AdLib2 hours ago
CL my wife has two dishwahers, me and the other
twilson117
TW – Heh!
AdLib2 hours ago
TW – I AM “the other”. Hubs rinses. Doesn’t actually, you know, wash.
choicelady
And TW, only one of those dishwashers is working.
AdLib2 hours ago
Ad – I’m still on wine, so whatever you have in whites is fine.
choicelady
Ad that’s right which is why I say nothing and see nothing just like the Sgt I Hogan’s Heros
twilson117
Murph good to see you tonight
twilson117
CL – My wife washes the dishes most of the time because she’s very fastidious but when I wash them, they’re always sparkling clean.
AdLib2 hours ago
Just read through your conversation so far. Nice to see you all again.
MurphTheSurf3
TW – Sgt. Schultz, “I know nothing!”
AdLib2 hours ago
Ad that’s right
twilson117
TW – Hubs has ADD. I do not. We discovered about 10 years ago that our sense of time is very different. I am “circular”. He is “linear”. I complete all kinds of things in one extended activity. He breaks things into categories – shopping. Cooking. Cleaning. And they may come on different days. So I said we should not try to interact on tasks. It has worked much better.
choicelady
AdLib2 hours ago
Ad – Greg thinks so, too. I beg to differ. Bet your wife does, too.
choicelady
Dear Murph – it’s grand to have you here.
choicelady
CL – He sounds non-linear and you seem linear. But either way, I’ll bet he toes the line.
AdLib2 hours ago
Thank you.
MurphTheSurf3
Did you see Edward Blum lost his first round in his attempt to prevent military academines considering race as part of their admission process?
twilson117
Murph good to see you back
twilson117
Thanks TW
MurphTheSurf3
No – I’m circular: shopping, cooking, cleaning all in one day. He spread things out on many different days. Better if we leave each other alone.
choicelady
Tw – OK – who is Edward Blum?
choicelady
CL – My wife doesn’t usually have her glasses on when she washes dishes so she sometimes misses some bits. My eyesight isn’t perfect but I’m pretty diligent, I really don’t like plates or silverware that have Star Trek characters on them…Klingons.
AdLib2 hours ago
TW – You’ve been following that closely, that’s a big win so far.
AdLib2 hours ago
Ad. Cling-Ons – definitely a handicap for dish duty
MurphTheSurf3
Ad – LOL!!! I have vision problems, too. I wash pots and pans by hand BUT also can’t see very well. So I check them in the daylight of the morning and fix the Klingons then.
choicelady
CL – I would call that linear because you complete on thing then move on to the next.
AdLib2 hours ago
Murph – My wife is avid about cleaning so it’s not from a lack of commitment, she just can’t always see when a Klingon is encamped on a fork.
AdLib2 hours ago
Well, we think I’m circular, and he’s linear. He’s one thing one day. Another thing the next. I close the circle each day. His can last for a VERY long time…
choicelady
CL he’s the one that won the case against NC and Harvard on allowing race as a consideration for admission which College and Unv have been doing with citing a provision in the 14th adment.
twilson117
TW – wow. That loss is HUGE. Hope it’s upheld in SCOTUS.
choicelady
CL – I now have a habit of feeling silverware, plates, etc. to make sure they are safe from Klingons because my eyes aren’t perfectly sharp either.
AdLib2 hours ago
All – this growing older stuff is annoying. All the things we did well all these years, and now in our Golden Years we are faltering. Not a LOT, just enough to be annoying.
choicelady
I would write a stern letter to the people in charge of aging if I just had an inkling where to complain.
choicelady
Did anyone see George Takei’s rejoinder to an anti-Trans person calling him a “Cissy”. FELL OUT LAUGHING!
choicelady
CL – Agreed! But we do our best to adapt. I am a big proponent of feeling inside glasses and silverware before drinking or eating, to avoid a Klingon invasion.
AdLib2 hours ago
CL – Someone told me who to write to to complain about getting older…but I forgot.
AdLib2 hours ago
Ad – very wise. One of my fave BlueSky (and twitter) people is 90. She is still doing all the holiday cooking because her kids are NOT careful. Bummer.
choicelady
LOVE the term, Klingons. I do a hunt every morning to make sure they’re gone. I do better in daylight for sure. But i won’t leave the mess until then – we have an ant problem. At least I get them 95% clean.
choicelady
CL he has been going after DEI with a venagence and It’s working as enrollment for minority students has dropped off in a number of colleges. When the court ruled in his favor the Chief Justice said the ruling didn’t apply to the Military Schools such West Point, Anapolis or the Air Force but he pushed anyhow and lost the first round and I hope every other attempt he makes.
twilson117
CL – I also get a kick out of RW idiots who complained when Star Trek actors came out for Kamala, whining about Star Trek getting political! I guess they never saw the episode with the half-black-and-white faced aliens at war with each other because they had different colors on the left and right sides.
AdLib2 hours ago
I doubt the RW ever watched Star Trek. Back in the day it was very progressive. Hasn’t changed.
choicelady
CL – Some things like cooking is where the older they are, the more likely they cook better.
AdLib2 hours ago
I cannot imagine how hard life is for bigots. Every damned thing is a threat to them. Even when clearly it isn’t.
choicelady
Roddenberry was ahead of his time
twilson117
My Blue Sky friend is a very good cook.
choicelady
CL – I think MAGAs watched Star Trek but are too dumb to have understood the liberal allegory.
AdLib2 hours ago
TW – that’s for sure! I have great delight that his ashes were onboard a NASA rocket and jettisoned into space. That’s as it should be. He changed the world with his vision.
choicelady
Ad – Well, that may be.
choicelady
TW – So true, Star Trek is still a thing nearly 60 years after it premiered. Aside from us, not sure who else I could put in that category.
AdLib2 hours ago
So Murph, are you thinking about moving out of the state?
AdLib2 hours ago
Ad I have to agree the only thing I believe that comes somewhat close is the Star Wars saga
twilson117
Greg went to the Star Trek convention in Las Vegas last August and loved every minute of it. Nobody from the original, but lots of actors talking about what the scripts and personae meant to them. VERY intellectual, he said. Not just about them as actors but about the deeper meanings of things.
choicelady
What do you all think about the United Healthcare CEO being gunned down and the bullets having “delay” and “deny” written on them? And the broad public reaction to say they don’t endorse murder but then sharing their health insurance nightmares on social media?
AdLib2 hours ago
TW – With Mark Hamill on Blue Sky we are taking that seriously, too!
choicelady
CL now I’m going to have to pay very close attention to my Blue Sky account
twilson117
Whoever did it to the UH CEO had a reason. And then I read this man was the only high management who was challenging their policies internally. May have been the wrong guy to off. Or that may have been a myth. I’m not sure the shooter will ever be found.
choicelady
Ad I don’t know what to say about that
twilson117
TW- there are some real jerks on Blue Sky – lefties. But there are some very fine people, too.
choicelady
ad…..moving is very expensive and moving to what. I am very used to having lots of space and living in the country.. I also think that selling my holdings will leave me a long term loser given what is happening in the real estate offerings in the area. I may need to live here but on an island as many others do. Southern Illinois is Mo.
MurphTheSurf3
CL – Years ago, at the Las Vegas Hilton, they had something called “The Star Trek Experience”, it was rooms built and decorated as The Enterprise with actors playing the crew and a screen at the front as in the ship, showing space and attacking ships, special effects too. It was enormous fun.
AdLib2 hours ago
CL – Yes, I am a huge fan of the Hamill for both his talent and his political smarts. BlueSky seems to be reaching that turning point, so many of the people i follow there and most news outlets which is what i liked about Twitter pre-Musk.
AdLiban hour ago
ad – I recall that Hilton Trek experience. well done best moment….when we got on the elevator to go to the “bridge” one of Trek crew turned to us and reminded us to set our phasers on ‘”fun”
MurphTheSurf3
Ad tell the truth did you dress up as Scotty?
twilson117
Murph – I don’t know about your financial situation, but there is a lot of farm land in northern IL that is not all MAGA. WI too. The area west around Princeton IL (my family founded it) is liberal Republican not radically Right. But further north, around Rockford, it’s more liberal. I have a couple of contacts there. Good people. Refugees from CA high cost of living. I think MO is a lost cause. Upstate NON urban IL is not hugely expensive.
choicelady
CL – To be frank, I don’t believe the “good guy” story about that CEO. That’s not how you get to be CEO and even if he wanted better policies for the workers, he absolutely did not want better care for those on his insurance. Between 2020 and 2022, denials for post-critical-care doubled from 10.8% to over 22%. He was not a good guy. Still, not condoning killing people.
AdLiban hour ago
Murph – we just want you safe and at peace.
choicelady
Ad – that may indeed be a myth about the CEO. Just what off the record staff were saying.
choicelady
We had UH for ONE MONTH and dumped it. Disgusting.
choicelady
Murph – if you can get a map of IL congressional districts to find Blue ones or ones that voted Pritzker, it would geographically let you know where is safer for you.
choicelady
Murph – I understand your points. I know it would be difficult for many reasons, especially as most of us have a mindset of settling down in our homes for retirement. I would just say that if Red States like MO end up becoming economicallyhammered as I think they will, the prices of property will sink there while rising in “good” states and the opportunity to get out may be even smaller.
AdLiban hour ago
Murph you’ve been there a long time I can’t even image what you’re going through I just know I want you to be safe and with the MASA nuts high on their supposed victory they will be uncontrollable
twilson117
Choice….ever since co-op imploded my finances have been a real challenge.
MurphTheSurf3
Murph – I am happy and impressed that you got to do that Star Trek Experience in Vegas! That was a great line from that cast member, how could they not be having a great time? Sory they finally closed it down, it was a lot of fun.
AdLiban hour ago
TW – I was in Vegas, I didn’t dress up as Scotty but just befoe I pulled the handle of Star Trek slot machines, I did say, “Engage!”
AdLiban hour ago
My fallback position is that I live in a small community where we all tend to care for each other. I have found my neighbors both kind and understanding in reflecting on the election.
MurphTheSurf3
Murph – that’s why I think the area around Rockford is doable. Not sure and can check, but a friend got a house dirt cheap there. And in good condition! Not sure about farm land.
choicelady
Murph – if that’s true about your neighbors, then make your world smaller in your town and cling to them. That matters. I remember though the Black family who bought to farm had to sell and leave, is that an accurate memory? Only you know the dynamics.
choicelady
CL – My mother had Medicare Advantage with United Healthcare and it was very expensive. My wife told me last month about an article she read that many people who are in Medicare Advantage plans and are being denied coverage, are kind of trapped because to switch over to regular Medicare, they have to pass a determination process that some can’t pass because their issues are too severe.
AdLiban hour ago
The upside of staying is community AND having a way to feed yourself and others in the coming Dark Ages. Land is life. Add some vaccinated chickens if you don’t have them, and you’re a life preserver.
choicelady
Choice – your suggestion is the direction I. am going. But yes, the black family felt pressured to move on…and that was the beginning of the end for me.
MurphTheSurf3
Murph – I remember. It’s despicable. But when Trump takes out MAGA as well as you damned Libtards, well, things might change.
choicelady
Ad did the slot machine respond the way you hoped it would?
twilson117
Greg and I were preparing to emigrate to Canada. And we are not. We have an odd but powerful community here – homeless people who’d give their lives for us. You cannot do better.
choicelady
Murph – Of course you should make the choice you think best, we don’t know enough to say what’s best for you. My concern is, as I wrote you in my reply to your text (and shared with CL and TW in the emails), that it is possible that Red States will collapse into economic trouble in the Trump years and getting out later may not be an option. People are not going to want to move to and buy property in a failing and authoritarian-run state.
AdLiban hour ago
CL…I continue to be surprised by the absence of Trump. and mega flags and signs……you would think that post election they would be flying high. and there is little braggadocio…almost and apologetic silence.
MurphTheSurf3
TW – The slot machine took my money at warp speed.
AdLiban hour ago
Folks let me say this based on the Jobs Report I just printed out UE rate stayed at 4.2% employment rose by 227,000 jobs overall good news. So I want to know how it Trump the AssHat going to spin that?
twilson117
Murph – someone who knows these things said the day AFTER the election, Google almost imploded w the numbers of queries: what is a tariff? I wish that had happened Nov. 4, but what the heck. People suddenly realize what they did.
choicelady
TW – he’s pretending he IS president the way Elon and Vivek pretend they already are DOGE. They have ZERO authority, but they act as if they’re already in control.
choicelady
TW – If anything, the election taught Trump that he can lie about anything and half the country is too stupid to question it. So when he tanks the economy, he will just proclaim, “This is Biden’s fault! He handed me a failing economy!” And the morons will just nod and sneer at Biden.
AdLiban hour ago
I’m not convinced the loss came from MAGA voters half so much as NON voters. They’re the ones eating crow.
choicelady
Even MAGA people realize they screwed up.
choicelady
CL it’s just amazing how ignorant many of these Trump supporters are. But, according to most current reporting the education level for many of them is at the 6th grade. They are not getting smarter just dumber and dumber.
twilson117
CL – It’s always challenging to imagine blowback, the resulting and unexpected consequences of something but it is possible that Muck and Ramaswamy proclaiming all the horrible things they want to do, the implementing of Project 2025, the deranged people in Trump’s cabinet, may just turn an unsure public into a furious one.
AdLiban hour ago
CL and that is what Trump wants. He doesn’t his supporters to know too much at all. It’s the days of the Kings and peasants. The kings and noblemen were the educated the everyone else were not.
twilson117
Ad – my mother was an elementary school teacher 1956-76. She retired as soon as she could because after Vietnam, she saw the curriculum being dumbed down. Republican board of ed didn’t WANT smart kids who challenged the system. So they made them ignorant. She couldn’t tolerate it, and retired. Nobody paid attention to how simplistic the learning was there on. They wanted ignorance. They got it.
choicelady
Now we all see why Repubs have had an ongoing campaign against education. Dumb people believe things without using critical thinking or research, not a wonder why Trump said in 2016, “I love the uneducated voters!” The only mini-solace is that MAGAs, especially the rural ones, will be who gets crushed the worst under his fascist, greed-driven policies.
AdLiban hour ago
CL accurate capture of the plight of education across the board.
MurphTheSurf3
Ad – after what Trump did to Ag, WTF were farmers THINKING by voting for him AGAIN? Then, despite Biden’s revitalization of manufacturing, some USW union members defied the union and supported HIM only to find he would block the Nippon Steel take over of the to-be-closed US Steel plant. WHO TRUSTS LUCY W THE FOOTBALL a second time?
choicelady
CL – Your mother’s experience and opinion completely validate that theory, she had a first hand view of that agenda. Now we do too, they are forcing teaching biblical dogma now in Red States while cutting out any history that might make kids compassionate towards victims of slavery and oppression.
AdLiban hour ago
CL I have been reading and interesting article in The Alantic by David Brooks entitled How The Ivy League Broke America it’s right up their with the book you recommed I read, Democracy In Chains
twilson117
CL – I think TW put his finger on it very well, this election was about the rise of stupidity. Dumb people who spend all their money buying snake oil from a con man while many around them are trying to tell them it’s a fraud. And add to that, the glaring immorality of theirs, happy to vote for a rapist, a bigot, a traitor, and a convicted criminal because he promises to wave a magic wand and make prices for everything magically go down.
AdLiban hour ago
Don’t know if you saw my email reply yet to Murph but I remarked in it, we may have a revival of WWII posters in this era.
AdLiban hour ago
By those fighting against the Trump/Nazi machine, that is.
AdLiban hour ago
CL – And this time, when his tariffs destroy small farmers, he won’t have billions to throw at them because the many billionaires in his admin along with him will have robbed the government of tax money.
AdLiban hour ago
Well…I stuck my toe in the water tonight….maybe I will go for a little wading next week. Until then, be well. Murph
MurphTheSurf3
Sounds good, see you soon, Murph!
AdLiban hour ago
Murph take of yourself
twilson117
ironically, I grew up in the town where Billy Graham went to college. We had NO religious instruction in school, no prayers, nothing. Religion was considered to be the parents’ right and responsibility. No teacher was ever directed to inculcate us.
choicelady
I was taught about slavery and apartheid. We were proud of supposedly being on the Underground RR (my family was in Princeton). We did not shun the idea, but, then, we WERE Yankees.
choicelady
CL – Yet now, Trump has a nominee who believes the country needs to act more like The Crusades in forcing people to become Christian or else.
AdLiban hour ago
CL Billy Graham is at the top of my list of people I don’t like. I know there are those who think he was some sort of special messager but I never liked the man and I can’t stand his son either.
twilson117
CL – That is quite a noble legacy!
AdLiban hour ago
Ad that makes ME a target since I’m very outspoken against forced religion.
choicelady
TW – I agree about Billy Graham. Growing up there as the daughter of Unitarian Dems was a…challenge.
choicelady
Tw – That said, the schools did not push religion EVEN THERE.
choicelady
Ad you’re going to like my follow up to my I Believe In God But Hate Religion second part that I posted to the site.
twilson117
In my experience, those who strive with unbridled ambition to be huge successes as leaders in any religion are the biggest non-believers and to my knowledge, have never followed a camel through the eye of a needle.
AdLiban hour ago
CL – And that makes me concerned for your safety so I’m glad you have your tenants there.
AdLiban hour ago
CL I know. Although I do remember after the pledge there as a moment of silence for all of to pray to have God intervene for the test was coming and none of studied for.
twilson117
TW – I scheduled it to publish tomorrow but haven’t read it fully, plan on doing so and enjoying it tomorrow.
AdLiban hour ago
I missed Murph’s departure! I’m sorry!
choicelady
CL he has lot to process it feels like he is really torn I wish I could help in some way.
twilson117
Tw – we didn’t even have that. I think that’s a later innovation. I believe you are a bit younger than I, so you got the ramp up to regenerated religiosity. Lucky you!
choicelady
TW – we are just here for him. I am going to give him my phone number so he can talk IF he wants to.
choicelady
I think we will see a Two Americas structure built in the next 4 years, wher Red States have economies, education, population, medical care, and opportunity decline while Blue States push back against the fascist regime and prosper for it, attracting many from Red States who want a decent life.
AdLiban hour ago
CL pass my along to. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for him nor would I be writing if he didn’t encourage me.
twilson117
CL is you could please email me his number so I too can call him.
twilson117
They may get their “secession” after all but it will be one where they pull away from prosperity, civility, and a healthy life.
AdLiban hour ago
OK – I have never in my born days, understood racism. Not even as a little kid. So I can’t be empathetic to MAGA in ANY way. Yeah, my family were pretty clear about equality. But it was my own observations that made me wonder WTF? I don’t get it, don’t understand it, have no sympathy for it, and surely no empathy. I am NOT the guide to closing the gap. It’s not overt hostility. It’s utter bafflement at what the heck they are afraid of.
choicelady
Ad the upcoming four years is going to test our democracy to the limits that is for sure
twilson117
TW – if he’s ok with it, sure, but you could send him yours so if he needs you, he can call you. That gives him the autonomy to do or not do.
choicelady
CL will do
twilson117
I love the proposal that Canada takes in the West coast, the border Blue states, and New England down to probably VA 9after the next election) allowing us to “emigrate” to Canada and stay home to do it. I am UP FOR IT.
choicelady
I think we all want the best for Murph, hope it wasn’t too much to suggest that he may consider moving. We don’t know all the issues so it’s easy to suggest it in a vacuum but that said, I think it would give me no end of worries to be locked into a red state that could become a worsening place to live. When you’re at an age where you can still get out of a state like that, I would do it. I have friends who’ve moved to other states to retire, they didn’t necessarily have a ton of money but they sold their homes in Cal and used the money to buy a cheaper place in another state.
AdLib42 minutes ago
Murph is now 1930s liberal Germans and Jews. Go? Don’t go? Leave everything you love for uncertainty or stay where you are and hope for the best? We feel pretty safe in CA, but MO??? I’d beat feet. But that’s me, not him.
choicelady
CL – I actually think we’ll see a coalition of Blue State stand up to Trump and his fascism. Doesn’t mean there won’t be issues and conflict but Blue States are not going to fall into line with fascism like Red States are anxious to do.
AdLib41 minutes ago
Ad – i believe that. I am SO in love with Prtizker and other Blue governors. Eff ’em if MAGA and Trump can’t take a joke.
choicelady
And two states – OH and MT – are about to find out they got screwed.
choicelady
CL – I’m on the same page as you and TW on this. I would never take the risk of staying in a state that could become a disaster and being stuck there when it all falls apart. Let’s face it, Trump/Musk and MAGAs in Congress want to tear apart the social safety net and these rural MAGAs will lose everything. Then what happens? Crime and violence rises as poverty grows and fascism tries to crush protests. I can imagine a scenario where violent crime, poverty, unemployment, and foreclosures all whip each other up in Red States that go along with the authoritarian rule they so badly crave.
AdLib37 minutes ago
Here in Sacramento, my alliance have been w the feds. Well that’s over. I am part of the FBI Citizens Academy so let’s see how THAT works out! LOL!!!
choicelady
I don’t know what CA is going to do about homeless people. The poor in general. But it’s a LOT safer here than in MO. No question about it.
choicelady
CL – Why do you say MT and OH will find out they’ got screwed? Becuase of the horrible people they replced their good senators with?
AdLib36 minutes ago
I admit I don’t understand how it is people can fall for the crap Trump puts out there and believe that they will actually benefit from it. He doesn’t care about them. But they believe he does.
twilson117
They dumped Tester and Brown, and they will have NO ONE arguing for them in the Senate.
choicelady

CL – Something tells me that under Trump, the FBI Citizens Academy members will need to wear brown shirts.
AdLib35 minutes ago
TW – how anyone could still believe Trump cares about them is mind boggling.

CL exactly.

Ad – well this cookie ain’t wearing no brown shirt.

Greg is a grad, too. We might get active again just to bore from within.

Most everyone IN the FBI citizens academy is liberal.

CL – I can imagine homelessness, disease, and violenet crime all rising together along with unemployment as Trump’s insane, greedy agenda is installed. They have no idea what’s coming, those people in Red States who see Trump as their savior. As ignorant as the Hitler-supporters in Germany who died and suffered in his vain war.
AdLib33 minutes ago
CL – That’s good to hear!
AdLib32 minutes ago
We are tearing up part of our backyard to put in a garden for the five of us – three homeless guys and us. Joke is – they don’t eat veggies now, but that’s what we can grow. We will deal w it.

The only tiny thing that I will be prepared for in the Trump regime will be Schadenfreude at MAGAs suffering at his hands. Unfortunately though, many good people will also be put through hell.
AdLib30 minutes ago
Ad you’ll appreciate this: “They’re all laughing at me possibly? Mr. Tagomi thouht. Down underneath? There is evil! It’s actual, like cement. I can’t believe it. I can’t stand it. Evil is not a view.” The Man in The High Castle

CL – That’s fantastic! You could include some things they might like such as strawberries which grow very easily and taste so much better than store bought ones.
AdLib29 minutes ago
Ad – we are working REALLY hard to insulate ourselves from the coming Dark Ages so we can help those who have NOTHING.
choicelady
TW – I do love that quote!
AdLib29 minutes ago
CL – I have had a garden at my home from the beginning, always loved growing things. All kinds of fruit trees, veggies in the garden and others around the yard. Just had a homegrown orange and tangerine today, they are so tasty!
AdLib27 minutes ago
I’m looking at basics – potatoes, white and sweet, corn, beans, and greens, tomatoes, squash. We have a VERY small space, so basics. Berries MIGHT go into a planter.
choicelady
TW – that is a great quotation!

It seems right for these times. Have to thank Ad for introducing me to Philip K, Dick.

That’s a great set of crops for your garden, sounds like mine! One thing I grew this year that I haven’t grown much of before was romaine lettuce and it was great. It can also grow a second time if you leave enough of the stem when you harvest a head of it.
AdLib26 minutes ago
TW – Greg loves SciFi but hasn’t read a lot of him. I think it’s time to do that.
choicelady
TW – My pleasure, he was an artist, a genius, and a man ahead of his time.
AdLib25 minutes ago
CL SciFi is far turer than people realize in my opinion.

I am also stockpiling food. Getting a food hydrator. Getting a grow light for seedings. I WILL do what I can to keep us all safe. One of the men is 19. He deserves a future.

Many films and TV shows have been based on Dick’s stories and books. Total Recall, Minority Report, The Man in the High Castle, Blade Runner, to name a few.
AdLib24 minutes ago
Tw – very true.
choicelady
Ad that’s right. I just trying to figure out how to get back to reading the next story haven’t been able to yet.
twilson117
CL – I think that’s both smart and thoughtful. I do think it is very possible that fresh fruit and veggies skyrocket in price, as soon as Trump tries to start up his deportations.
AdLib23 minutes ago
Whoops, where’s CL go?
AdLib23 minutes ago
Sorry – hit the wrong button!!!
choicelady
TW – Are you too busy writing to start reading the next book?
AdLib22 minutes ago
CL – Missed you!
AdLib22 minutes ago
Earlier I mention some numbers from the latest job report how long do you both think it will take for Trump and his fellow idiots to move the county into a recession?
twilson117
Gone for a nanosecond. I think…
choicelady
If Trump introduces tariffs right away along w mass deportations, we will be in recession by June if not before. And we will have no food.
choicelady
TW – I think about a year from now, we will be either in a recession or starting a recession. Trump’s pettiness makes him want to destroy all that Biden and Dems setup while thinking he’s a genius on tariffs, can’t see how the economy doesn’t fall apart next year. Wall Street Journal had a bunch of top economists say a recession would come next year if Trump won and implemented his announced plans.
AdLib20 minutes ago
CL – We will have food but fresh fruit and veggies will cost too much for many to buy. Not like they’re so cheap now but when you have to pay $20 for grapes and $10 for a tomato, I think people’s diets will get very bad.
AdLib18 minutes ago
Ad CL says June you’re a year from now so perhaps starting in June or in Dec?
twilson117
And what follows that kind of rapid inflation at the same time that social spending is slashed, is a disaster in human terms.
AdLib17 minutes ago
Both – of course it will. Trump is an ideologue, not a visionary. He is bent on revenge and not on help. We will be crushed by his rancid policies. My only focus now – and why I dumped offline – is making sure I have what I need to survived. Just bought egg replacer. LOTS of it. I have a storage shelf of survival food. All we can do immediately. It’s not just me. It’s the guys in the back.
choicelady
I’m going to say we will see it start in Q2 starting in April
twilson117
TW – by June harvest, we will feel the start of food shortages. The rest will come tumbling down from there.
choicelady
TW – COuld indeed be June but the Biden economy remains strong, it will take a lot of economic shocks to bring it down but I agree with CL that tariffs and deporting immigrants could be just the thing to bring that about quickly. I’m thinking more like the Fall of next year it would start and by a year from now, it will be clear we are in or heading into a recession.
AdLib15 minutes ago
Tw – I’m not disputing April. This is serious. REALLY serious.
choicelady
I’m say we wil see the start of it, I think you’re both right June very will be when it kicks into high gear. It’s not going to be pretty as we’ve all said.
twilson117
CL – You are making very smart decisions. I think it’s possible that we will rely on our homegrown fruits and vegetables quite a bit though I don’t think all sectors of the food industry will be disabled. But everything will get very expensive and greedflation will be back with a vengeance.
AdLib12 minutes ago
If Trump terminates ALL the Biden infrastructure programs, it will be faster. We will have half built stuff, massive job loss, and no replacements. Trump is a jerk. He has nothing to offer, and Elon and Vivek WANT a massive collapse. My question is what will come from the thousands of mfg and distribution companies who aren’t at ALL in sync with this? There will be an intra-class war.
choicelady
CL I don’t think he will terminate all of Biden’s stuff, from my understand a lot of it is already underway, he will take credit for it however. I have no doubt of that.
twilson117
Ad – the biggest hit will be anything to do w poultry. Bird flu is already shoving up egg prices, and chicken is our staple. I now have a connection to a fish market that sells WHOLE fish (cod) they will fillet for me if I buy the whole fish. I have no chicken or turkey replacer. Trump won’t do anything about helping farmers inoculate their flocks. Hell, he didn’t save PEOPLE. He won’t save BIRDS.
choicelady

Both of you have areas where you can have gardens, those of us who are in apartments, well that’s not doubale.
twilson117

CL – I do believe that we are looking at intense conflicts in many directions as this insane fascism is put into action. In the business world, on the streets, and if Trump does as he’s threatened to shoot people who protest, I can see more shootings like the United Healthcare assassination happening towards not only corporate greedsters but Repub pols and even Trump. I hope I’m wrong but it seems like we’re in for more chaotic times with rising violence.
AdLib9 minutes ago
Ad the more chaotic it is the better for him gives him cause to declare marshall and make his pathway to dictatorship a heck of a lot easier.
twilson117
TW – if you have a balcony, you can grow in self watering planters. Can do it inside w grow lights. Not everything, but a lot. i can’t remember the name of my system, but I get notices weekly and will pass it on to you.
choicelady
CL – That’s another big concern, with Trump and RFK Jr. in positions of power, whether it’s Bird Flu or a more deadly mutation of Covid or other epidemics, we already know that there will be no quarrantine, no focus on vaccines, there could be a lot of disease multiplying the damage that animal viruses cause food production. I feel like I’mliving in a Michael Crichton novel.

TW – Sad but true that Trump would use a Depression and chaos to declare martial law and a dictatorship. But I always like to bring up the concept of blowback. Neither we nor Trump have a clue what the people may do if things get really bad. Marie Antoinette had no clue either after telling them to eat cake.
