Vox Populi, our weekly live chat on the week’s events begins tonight at 7:00pm. Hope to see you then!
AdLib 7 days ago
Hey Ad, what’s up?
KillgoreTrout
Hey KT! Just writing a Trump article for the National Enquirer. You?
AdLib 7 days ago
I’m doing great. Are you really doing that?
KillgoreTrout
Just joking! But if I wasn’t, it woould state as a fact that Trump has Alzheimer’s, molested zoo animals and kicks newborn babies down stairs.
AdLib 7 days ago
And is the secret love child of ET and Mary Poppins?
KillgoreTrout
You don’t need any facts anymore!
AdLib 7 days ago
And a pumpkin.
AdLib 7 days ago
Man, that really seems to be the case, doesn’t it.
KillgoreTrout
Oh yeah, got to get that orange tint from somewhere. Maybe the child of Boehner and Ayn Rand!
KillgoreTrout
This story in the NE is an intentional smear by the publisher who is a friend of Trump’s. That’s how things work in Trump’s America. And his supporters claim “he tells it like it is”?
AdLib 7 days ago
And an orange spider, hence the weave.
AdLib 7 days ago
I just can’t see Cruz getting any other woman to sleep with him. I’m not sure how he even found a wife. The guy is repugnant, in every way.
KillgoreTrout
Good point. He sure ain’t a Don Juan, kinda funny that anyone would believe that. Unless they meant he was having affairs with rodents or reptiles.
AdLib 7 days ago
Now that seems more plausible!
KillgoreTrout
Oops! Be right back!
KillgoreTrout
Or maybe he’s having an affair with Black Plague?
AdLib 7 days ago
Ok.
AdLib 7 days ago
Hey glenn!
AdLib 7 days ago
Hey Ad–Have to agree with KT. As a woman, cruz is one of the most repellent men I’ve ever seen! Of course, IMO, trump runs a close second to being the last man I’d want near me!
glenn
glenn – The GOP is in the midst of a Battle of the Sleazeballs, depending on the day, it’s hard to say which is sleazier.
AdLib 7 days ago
It’s actually very entertaining to see Repubs hacking away at each oother. We know the GE will be woorse but I’m hoping the sleaze sticks to them after the primary so in the GE, their attacks just make them look worse.
AdLib 7 days ago
Ad–true dat! I’ve heard every word spoken by the two sleazeballs, but can’t find much info on Bernie, or even Hillary, for that matter. Did see that Hillary was on Kimmel last night and he “mansplained” to her. It was pretty funny! But, Bernie? Is he taking a break? Is he giving speeches? Is he still alive? Who knows? But, as I say, I know what the two sleazeballs have to say about each other’s wives! Jesus H. Christ!
glenn
I didn’t see that bit from Kimmel but another part of it. Bernie’s rally in Seattle tonight is being promoted on MSNBC right now and his cool incident with a bird is trending on Twitter but no, during the day all you heard about is the sexist battle between Trump and Cruz.
AdLib 7 days ago
Ah, back now. Hey glenn, what’s shakin?
KillgoreTrout
So you missed the Kimmel bit; I missed Bernie’s incident with the bird. What was it?
glenn
Here’s the bird video from Portland today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jc2TVLoxsDA
AdLib 7 days ago
My daughter was at that rally!
KillgoreTrout
KT – How cool!!!
AdLib 7 days ago
Hey KT–not much shakin’ here; too many parts start wobblin’ when I do that!
glenn
Was that her bird?
AdLib 7 days ago
Ha! That’s funny glenn!
KillgoreTrout
So we have one party where a candidate is supported by a bird and the other party that is flipping the bird to the country.
AdLib 7 days ago
Ad–so the Jewish guy makes the bird come alive on Good Friday! Now that’s symbolism!
glenn
KT–Did your daughter enjoy the rally?
glenn
Avian politics! That bird is a commie!
KillgoreTrout
KT–Maybe a protester. After all, the bird did interrupt Bernie’s speech!
glenn
glenn – No kidding! But lost on the Repub “Christians” ike Cruz.
AdLib 7 days ago
I haven’t spoken to her since she went. We’re going to talk about it tomorrow! Portland is very big on Bernie!
KillgoreTrout
Hey Kes!
AdLib 7 days ago
Ad–there a lot of things lost on the republicans!
glenn
KT – Yep, I think Bernie will clean up in OR.
AdLib 7 days ago
#BlackbirdLivesMatter? Shame on me! All in fun!
KillgoreTrout
KT–Hope Bernie wins more states.
glenn
KT –
AdLib 7 days ago
KT–good one, but shouldn’t it be all #AllBirdsMatter? /s/
glenn
Bernie has a number of probable wins coming up in OR, WA and elsewhere.
AdLib 7 days ago
No doubt Ad. It’s not just Portland either.
KillgoreTrout
Hey Murph!
AdLib 7 days ago
glenn that’s just to silence the Blackbirds!
KillgoreTrout
Ad–you know, we keep hearing about the repubs’ contested convention. Do you think the Dem convention will be a mess, too?
glenn
“sup Murph?
KillgoreTrout
KT–Those damn blackbirds just won’t be silenced any more. Don’t they know that the lighter colored birds are better?
glenn
glenn – No, I think that whoever has the most elected delegates after the primaries will get the Dem nom. The Superdelegates can’t overrule the will of the voters or Dems will be in the same destructive situation as the GOP.
AdLib 7 days ago
Did anybody see where two young women were arrested at a Sanders rally for going topless? I think it was some group called Free The Nipple, or something like that. Two funny!
KillgoreTrout
So they think, glenn, so they think! I think the GOP bird would be a vulture!
KillgoreTrout
Ad–so, I’m a little confused. If the super delegates can’t over rule the will of the voters, they will go with whoever won their state? So, you’re saying that super delegates won’t vote on their own?
glenn
Good Good Friday, Planetary Peeps! I see we have already covered the Birdie Sanders Sign From the Universe in Portland. Loved that!
kesmarn
HELLO ALL….I am just dropping by. We will see how it goes. We had a very mild winter and now we are paying the price. Pollen, fungi, mold….not killed off and back with avengeance….sinuses, head and throat are suffereing….so I may beh here for just abit.
MurphTheSurf3
KT–great pun! Two funny!
glenn
Hey Kes–how are you doing tonight?
glenn
Hey, Murph! I’m just here for a few minutes too.
kesmarn
Sorry to hear that Murph!
AdLib 7 days ago
Glenn and KT..double entendre!
MurphTheSurf3
Hey Murph! how’s it going!
glenn
Hey Homie!
KillgoreTrout
Hey, glenn! Son just headed back to Madison after a spring break visit. I miss him already!
kesmarn
Hey, Homie! How’s everything?
kesmarn
I’m Baaaack!
pinkpantheroz
Hey, PPO! How was the surgery?
kesmarn
Working the Duckworth campaign….Kirk is worried…so worried that he plans to meet with the Obama Scotus pick and he wants hearings…
MurphTheSurf3
Doing great kes. I hope the same for you!
KillgoreTrout
Murph–my granddaughter is suffering from the pollen here, too. Poor thing has a red nose from blowing it so often! We had rain yesterday, so some relief, but sunny today.
glenn
Hi all, the surgery went sort of OK. Bigger zip this time on the other leg and slower to heal, but not too bad just now.
pinkpantheroz
Doing OK here. Getting ready for Easter with the 93 year old Dad and the family.
kesmarn
Glenn…sunny, a bit cool and perfect weather for airborn misery.
MurphTheSurf3
Murph–even better–double entendre. You guys are very clever!
glenn
glenn – Just saying that the Superdelegates are a threat to the Dem Pasrty if they were too, for example, push Hillary ahead f Bernie if he was ahead on elected delegates. They can but shouldn’t mess with the will of the people.
AdLib 7 days ago
murph, is the Tammy Duckworth?
KillgoreTrout
Good to hear it, PPO! Hope that recovery just gets better and better.
kesmarn
Hey Pink, how ya doin?
KillgoreTrout
Hi, KT, OK just now
pinkpantheroz
PPO – Sounds like it’s okay though if not ideal. Hope you’re not in much pain.
AdLib 7 days ago
glad to hear it!
KillgoreTrout
Ad, that’s it. a lot more soreness this time.
pinkpantheroz
Kes–it’s hard when they really start growing up, isn’t it? On one hand, you want them to be independent adults; on the other hand, you want them to be your “babies” forever.
glenn
KT…it is tammy duckworth.
MurphTheSurf3
Murph – Kirk should be scared. He’s going to lose to Tammy.
AdLib 7 days ago
P, Australia needs to let you have some medical wacky tobaccki.
KillgoreTrout
Right, glenn. And he is so darned funny. I laugh all the time when he’s around!
kesmarn
Ad–do you think there’s a chance that Bernie will ever be ahead on elected delegates?
glenn
PPO – Hope you’re able to keep the swelling down.
AdLib 7 days ago
I thought I recognized the name. How’s she doing so far?
KillgoreTrout
Kt, it’s here ok, just I don’t indulge. I’ve actually given up the smokes!
pinkpantheroz
Ad…she is even more impressive in person…not a great orator but sharp in conversation and smart….was working on a PhD in PoliSci before being called up.
MurphTheSurf3
PPO–glad to have you here with us tonight. Hope your healing continues well.
glenn
Ad, got compression stocking for the swelling. Diong ok
pinkpantheroz
Thanks glenn. It was a pisser being in hospital last week for all the fun
pinkpantheroz
I’m trying to quit cigarettes myself. I’m wearing a nicotine patch right now. Too damned expensive and unhealthy.
KillgoreTrout
glenn – I think it is possible foor Bernie to catch up and pass Hillary but not probable. It would take a lot of big wins, especially in the big states like here in CA and NY.
AdLib 7 days ago
KT, my mantra is a bit like AA. I may have one tomorrow, but not today.
pinkpantheroz
PPO..I ave someone living with me now…a 76 year old recovering from hip surgery…I know compression stockings well…
MurphTheSurf3
Kes–aww, that’s so cool to hear about your son.
glenn
Murph – Her strength comes across, IMO.
AdLib 7 days ago
Hey Murph!
pinkpantheroz
Homie, I quit quite a while ago, but I still look at the prices of cigarettes and they’re nearly $6 a pack now if I’m not mistaken!
kesmarn
There are always edibles. It does help with pain and inflamation.
KillgoreTrout
Ad–so how is Bernie doing in CA?
glenn
Ad…..she does not back down but she also manages to be respectful….quite the feat.
MurphTheSurf3
Kes, try $AUD25 a pack!
pinkpantheroz
I have a bit of artheritus in my right hip. It really helps with that.
KillgoreTrout
Seriously, PPO!!!?? WOW!
kesmarn
PPO – Glad to hear you’re home now. You were in the hospital for days or a week?
AdLib 7 days ago
8 days, Ad.
pinkpantheroz
PPO–have to echo Ad, glad to hear you’re home.
glenn
Holy Jeebus P! I thought $7.50 was outrageous!
KillgoreTrout
PPO–wow–eight days in hospital. That’s a long time!
glenn
thanks, glenn. Great to be with my pals online again. Missed it big time.
pinkpantheroz
Kt, works out about $1 per stick
pinkpantheroz
PPO….in the U.S. the insurance issues have resulted in releasing people back to home care way too early…..requiring lots of help on the home side of theings.
MurphTheSurf3
$7.50 Homie?! Wow… I am behind the times — thinking they were $6.
kesmarn
PPO–I always get cheered up on Friday nights on VOX. Hope it works the same for you, too.
glenn
That’s downright criminal!
KillgoreTrout
glenn – Bernie is close too Hillary and closing. June is a while away, he’ll need too win by a big margin to catch her on overall delegates. It’s possible. Last poll I saw was Hillary 48 Bernie 41.
AdLib 7 days ago
Murph, yes, same here, but my doc said that I was to stay until I could walk on my own (with stick), so I did that
pinkpantheroz
Murph–I was thinking the same thing about releasing people too early. And, then, the insurance companies won’t pay for the home care! Is that the still the case even with the ACA?
glenn
Cigarrettes in Mo…..”Decades” are $5 a pack..and that is really cheap!
MurphTheSurf3
You’re right on that, Murph! People being pitched out of the hospital way too early. If there’s not family available, there’s real trouble.
kesmarn
Ad–That’s pretty close, isn’t it?
glenn
glenn, It sure does brighten my saturday afternoon here ( 13.45 right now)
pinkpantheroz
PPO – Wow, that really speaks to how serious this was! So glad you’re okay, home and on the mend!
AdLib 7 days ago
PPO…sounds like the denizens of Oz are more enlightened than we are.
MurphTheSurf3
Yep glenn, that’s very close and months to go for him to build on that. BTW, it’s the smallest margin so far so he is improving.
AdLib 7 days ago
PPO–oops–I “know” about the time/day difference; just “forget” it sometimes. Ahhh–the “joys” of senior citizenship!
glenn
BRB, in about 5 min!
AdLib 7 days ago
Glenn…more peple are covered but how wide and long the coverage is remains too little for too short a time.
MurphTheSurf3
I saw a Bloomberg national poll that showed Bernie at 49% to Hillary’s 48%
kesmarn
Kes…that is why this man is rooming with me now. No family nearby.
MurphTheSurf3
He’s lucky to have you there, Murph.
kesmarn
Murph–since it is the insurance companies running things, that’s why coverage is too little; too short a time.
glenn
Murph, not really, just a different mindset where the actual Doctors and Petients know what’s best, and fuck the Insurance companies!
pinkpantheroz
Can anyone believe we actually have two PRESIDENTIAL candidates that are attacking each other’s wives? What’s next, their mothers?
KillgoreTrout
Murph–you are a good man, my friend!
glenn
Just when you think they’ve hit rock bottom, Homie…. Hey… I say that every single week! (The GOP candidates, that is.)
kesmarn
The roomig thing is part of an outreach from my church……
MurphTheSurf3
Kes–there is no rock bottom with republicans. They just keep digging the hole deeper.
glenn
hahahahaha GOP baggers hahahaha
Harleigh
They’re going to end up in China, glenn. Poor China.
kesmarn
Harleigh–how are you? Long time, no see!
glenn
Kes, saw PBO’s News with Gergin excoriating both Drumpf and Cruz! What pieces of work they both are
pinkpantheroz
Damn I know Homie. It’s a bottomless pit. Hey Cruz, you’re mama’s so fat, that when she backs up, she emits a beeping sound!”
KillgoreTrout
Hey, Harleigh!
kesmarn
PPO = still you all have system that begins with the docs and their patients…
MurphTheSurf3
Kes–I wish they would end up in China! Then we’d be rid of them!
glenn
Harleigh, what’s up?
KillgoreTrout
I wonder if there’s any truth to the Cruz infidelity stories. There’s so much mud being slung, it’s hard to tell if anything’s true.
kesmarn
Been workig 7 days, just got up from my afternoon nap a couple hours ago in time to go to bed. LOL
Harleigh
brb…
kesmarn
Murph, it only works like that if you’re lucky to have private cover. Otherwise you’d have a long wait and then be bundled out asap.
pinkpantheroz
KT–hey trump–your mama must have small hands, too!
glenn
brb
pinkpantheroz
kes I love the infidelity stories and they are probably true ala Gary Hart, John Edwards, Newtie etc
Harleigh
LOL! It wouldn’t surprise me. Nothing will, at this point!
KillgoreTrout
Kes–it wouldn’t surprise me if the infidelity stories about cruz are true. But even if they are, with republicans nowadays, it may not hurt him. After all, he’s still not trump! That seems to be the defining characteristic now! Forget about policies; he’s just not trump!
glenn
Harleigh, I can’t imagine any woman wanting to have sex with Cruz. Even his wife.
KillgoreTrout
KT–well, even cruz’s wife doesn’t want to kiss him in public!
glenn
KT LMAO… use Brylcreem instead of KY Jelly! eeeewwww
Harleigh
LOL Harleigh! A little dab will do ya!
KillgoreTrout
They don’t kiss him because he eats buggers!
Harleigh
His daughter won’t let him kiss her.
KillgoreTrout
KT and Harleigh–eeeewww to both of you!
glenn
My apologies, glenn.
KillgoreTrout
yeah me too glenn
Harleigh
PPO…oh! Then it is like here….sad and bad.
MurphTheSurf3
KT and Harleigh–apologies accepted. But it was very funny!
glenn
Glenn…the not kissing thing is fundamentalist prudery I thinki
MurphTheSurf3
heh heh heh
Harleigh
I wonder if the GOP will try to dump Trump at the convention.
KillgoreTrout
Murph–sounds good. But I thought you only couldn’t kiss before marriage. Aren’t they married?
glenn
Always appreciated!
KillgoreTrout
I’m hoping for a brokered cornvention! Palin-Bachmann 2016 fer jebus! glory!
Harleigh
Glenn…public displays of affection are “demonstrations of lust”.
MurphTheSurf3
Harleigh …… and Golly!
MurphTheSurf3
KT–Didn’t read the article; but saw a headline that says that trump’s peeps are coming up with a “strategy” for that scenario. Wonder if it will involve a “second amendment remedy” since the repubs now want to allow guns at the convention. What could go wrong?
glenn
Oh Harleigh that would be comedy manna from heaven!
KillgoreTrout
Murph–oh, okay. Whatever.
glenn
Yeah glenn. Trump made veiled threats about trouble could happen.
KillgoreTrout
Glenn…just a wee bit up tight.
MurphTheSurf3
oh man, A GOP shootout. Well, they’ve all been shooting themselves in the foot.
KillgoreTrout
Well….I am shutting down…just too tired. Good night all. Happy Easter!
MurphTheSurf3
Murph–yup! Or maybe they’re just stuck in the teenage years. I remember when our daughter was a teenager, she was appalled if her father and I held hands in public. It “embarrased” her.
glenn
Maybe they need to aim a little higher!
KillgoreTrout
KT no shit mon but if I had told everyone what was going to happen a year ago you all would have told me I was delusional. Guns at a convention! I hope they aLL GET drunk and start blasting.
Harleigh
Later Murph!
KillgoreTrout
‘NIte, Murph, sleep well.
glenn
Night murph
Harleigh
Back again. Just in time to say G’night to Murph.
kesmarn
Man, the irony would be priceless!
KillgoreTrout
I’m just glad that KT and I are not in the Cleveland part of this state because that GOP convention is going to make Chicago 1968 look like a Sunday school picnic.
kesmarn
I can’t believe the past year of the baggers. LOL I’m glad Scalia died too.
Harleigh
All I have to say is you better not be a bearded man (or woman) at the repub convention or you’ll be classified as ISIS. After all, that’s their justification for carrying guns. What a bunch of fear-filled individuals!
glenn
It just might kes. I’m going nowhere near the place. I wouldn’t be able to keep from projectile vomiting.
KillgoreTrout
Kes–oh yeah! And the media coverage will be “interesting” too.
glenn
Leave your rag hat, hijab and beanie at home too!
Harleigh
I’m staying in NW Ohio too. No Cleveland excursions for me!
kesmarn
Thank goodness for the internet.
KillgoreTrout
This will be a media circus, glenn!
kesmarn
Kes and KT–glad to hear you’re both going to be far away! Of course, it will be in your living room every night no matter where you are!
glenn
I’ve heard about Trump trying to get delegates who are uncommitted and Cruz trying to push his people in as delegates so they’ll turn to him even if elected to support Trump. Cruz is a sneaky bastard.
AdLib 7 days ago
I’ll be watching, for sure. I love violent meltdowns!
KillgoreTrout
There’s no escape, glenn. But there’ll be a certain entertainment factor.
kesmarn
I can’t wait! Like their first debate circus. wow. I’m hyped
Harleigh
Kes–The entertainment factor will be like slowing down to watch the aftermath of a car wreck. Except this will be the wreck of our country!
glenn
Scott Walker thinks he’s going to get the nomination, instead of Trump. He has a worse chance than Trump does, of being president.
KillgoreTrout
Cleveland is a blue town and they’re not afraid to get out in the streets so the GOPers had better behave themselves!
kesmarn
Na glenn. Hopefully just the GOP.
KillgoreTrout
KT–Is that really true about Walker? Now, there’s another sleazeball!
glenn
KT, you Kes and Monica should sneak into the GOP convention just for fun. It should be outrageous.
AdLib 7 days ago
That’s true Homie. They like a good fight.
KillgoreTrout
Yeah glenn. I saw an article about it earlier today. It’s not going to happen though. If it does, I’d be really surprised.
KillgoreTrout
Walker, Kasich and Paul Ryan are three people I cannot abide. Now Ryan is saying that he’s had a “come-to-Jesus” awakening regarding the fact that people might be poor for legit reasons. “They’re not all ‘takers’.” Too little too late, Paulie.
kesmarn
Kes–I really do worry that protesters in Cleveland will not be safe. As you say, it seems to be shaping up as a repeat of the 1968 Dem convention.
glenn
The timing is abit suspicious Homie.
KillgoreTrout
It could get nasty, glenn. Seriously.
kesmarn
The BLM movement has some very legit grievances and I don’t think they’re in the mood to take any crap in Cleveland.
kesmarn
There is no Repub who they could draft that wouldn’t lose. Many Trump voters will bolt the GOP if they steal the nom from him and that’s about 1/3 of the party. Dems would crush whoever the Repubs ran.
AdLib 7 days ago
Kes–poor little Paulie. Speaker of the House, and no one hardly mentions his name.
glenn
LOL Lyin Ryan and Walker the Wanker. Now there’s a ticket from heaven!
Harleigh
Harleigh–but do the liar and the wanker beat the half-wit and the twit?
glenn
The two of them together don’t have one soul, Harl.
kesmarn
Good one, Harleigh!
AdLib 7 days ago
Kes–nor a full brain!
glenn
Right, AdLib. Their loyalty is to Trump. Not the party.
kesmarn
Kes their top 10 have no soul.
Harleigh
‘Zactly!
kesmarn
Harleigh–just for clarification–the half-wit and the twit are palin and bachman. So which pair is the “better” dream team?
glenn
That’s because they weren’t conceived, they just grew, like mold!
KillgoreTrout
KT–good one!
glenn
Thanks glenn, I try!
KillgoreTrout
I have to admit, though, that the more I see of Hillary and Bill, the less impressed I am. I really is starting to feel like a shotgun wedding with them and the base of the Dem Party.
kesmarn
Okay, folks, my turn to say good night. Early soccer game tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great weekend, and a Happy Easter, if you celebrate that.
glenn
“It” not “I”
kesmarn
night glenn, as always, it’s been fun
KillgoreTrout
G’night, glenn! Enjoy the game and Happy Easter!
kesmarn
I have been pitching Palin – Bachmann since 2007 when mcain lost to some black guy!! Got me kicked off of the old Huffington post for a couple hours.
Harleigh
Hillary is having a fund-raiser tonight. Some of the tickets are $325,400. I saw that someone calculated that it would take a min. wage worker 5 years, working 24 hours/day to make that much money.
kesmarn
Well folks, I think I’m out too. Take care and remember the secret to a happy life! Don’t eat anything bigger than your head!
KillgoreTrout
And don’t eat anything that Ted Cruz would eat! G’night, Homie!
kesmarn
I think I’d better call it a day too. Have a great weekend and Happy Easter to all who celebrate!

Thanks, pal! Sorry you’re having to deal with that.
AdLib 7 days ago
The fact is Ad,about 2 years ago I was diagnosed with COPD,It flipped my world upside down, changed me forever.I have since gotten IBS,it is a bitch of a thing because it is not easily treated,Sress is involved.I have a bad case, but am working on the stress part
Beatlex
That’s a lot to have to deal with. Dealing with stress is critical.
AdLib 7 days ago
Even the things I have read say “it’s a chicken and an egg thing” so frustrating! There’s the rub,I have to relax more
Beatlex
Exactly, it’s a vicious circle. Stress can intensify those issues…and dealing with them creates more stress.

You have been a consistent pleasure to listen to Ad.Clever,FUNNY,and prolific. You often say what what I am thinking, but don’t have the ability to put it down in words the way you do.I do Okay for a grade 10 graduate.Streetwise, and always currious

Means a lot to hear that, thanks. I think curiosity is more valuable than many other traits. Inspires creativity and insight.
AdLib 7 days ago
for sure Ad,when I was a child I always wanted to figure out how things work
Beatlex

Same here. Picked out a book when I was younger, “How Things Work”, explained the mechanics of a wide variety of things.
AdLib 7 days ago
Just apply that to politics, people and society now!

What are your thoughts on addiction Ad? Can you speak to that?
Beatlex
Yep, two big losses. Really stunned at how sudden Gary’s death was. Like you, I was a big fan. The Larry Sanders show is brilliant.
AdLib 7 days ago
In what sense?
AdLib 7 days ago
What do you generally think about it,
Beatlex

I like to know how non addicts see addiction Ad,it helps me
Beatlex
It depends on the situation. Speaking very generally, I think most people have addictions of one kind or another, it’s a natural weakness of being human. But when it comes to drugs, it’s very complicated. There are people who are more prone to addiction simply because of brain chemistry, which may or may not also affect one’s emotions. I think there’s a wide range of psychological and physical combinations that can contribute to it.
AdLib 7 days ago
And sometimes life is just damn difficult and it can be hard to fend off the urge to tranquilize it.
AdLib 7 days ago
Weakness? How is an illness weakness? That is the way sober people see it usually,as if to say “suck it up and just quit!” The evidence points more to genetics,IMO,I come from a line of addicts
Beatlex
You misunderstand, I’m talking about the human condition. That’s why I said most people have addictions of one kind or another, it’s part of the human condition.
AdLib 7 days ago
I get that Ad,but do really think it is weakness? Upbringing too has a lot to do with it.I just learned recently that my great grandfather was a pedophile! It explained a lot about my familes dysfunction. The drinking, drugs, and stunted feelings. The worst part was that I found out that my oldest brother was a victim of that bastard! That threw me for a loop.I just want to give you one perspective Ad,Thanks for letting me vent
Beatlex
Sure Beatlex. That’s quite a heavy load to carry, I’m so sorry to hear this. Horrible. Are you close with your brother?
AdLib 7 days ago
Yes,in our way,he is about to turn 65.I have not asked him about it,I learned it through an elderly relative’s book. The truth is I am an addict also. But Bob had real anger issues that he never talked about. He did some acting and got a Major in English! He taught for a while until his demons ended that
Beatlex

I do NOT want to come on as whiney Ad.I just want to be honest, that is my key to sobriety,I am not there yet,but I will never give up trying. It’s coming
Beatlex
Brothers can be complicated enough without something so awful building walls between them. The anger issues are so understandable and unfortunately, so is the addiction. You don’t come off as whiny at all, takes cajones to be honest.
AdLib 7 days ago
It’s a process though, dealing with addiction. Not giant steps but smaller steps, I think.

I am one of the survivors so far Ad,I have lost several friends to early death, some from booze,a lot by cancer. I am not a believer in a god,but I do believe in spirituality. And in my life,I have met several people who have changed me for the good. And I believe that I have met the people I have for a reason.Sometimes I change their life! Even you Ad,you and a lot of people I have met on the interwebs.Mostly American! You and guys like KT,girls like Kes,you are all so interesting!
