Harleigh – They won this recent election without having any other agenda then “Doesn’t Obama suck?”. Now, when they control Congress, every action they take will be to pursue that one agenda. With RW Repubs trying to dig deeper for the core instead of wider for indies and conservative Dems, they will be in a head on collision with the Estab Repubs who know they need to make inroads with the more moderate voters, women and minorities. These two trajectories mean a crash is inevitable.

The House has no standing to sue and if Roberts lets them, it will cause a Constitutional crisis because Obama should not accept whatever ruling they make. Then Roberts has destroyed all credibility of the SCOTUS. Nope, it’s not going anywhere.

I wouldn’t be surprised, she wants to head off any real alternatives to her and scare them off early. So we’ll have nearly 2 years of a Hillary campaign? Murph – The issue you’re having is local, due to something with your system’s cache/cookies/memory. I’ve contacted the programmers of this software and they can’t duplicate the issue. Will see if there’s a workaround I can figure out but the best shot would be to clear your cookies and cache, close your browser then reopen it.

Murph – Cool! The programmer mentioned that it could also be an issue with your internet service, a chat system like this uses more memory and communication back and forth than just browsing or posting on sites. So that could be a factor too.

I don’t believe that the GOP can get away with doing nothing until 2016 and getting anyone but hard core Repubs to vote for them because the Hate Obama routine won’t work by then since he will be outgoing. And sure, they have their Hate Hillary campaign under way but considering who they’ll have to put up as acandidate, they’ll be worse off with an unlikeable candidate. The GOP has a midterm strategy, that’s all that hollowed out party can do, just a “Mad at the way things are? Vote for us!” But that doesn’t work in Presidential elections when the President hasn’t blown up the economy.

It’s actually a very good thing that Repubs are back in their delusion about America being behind them because they won this election due to a poor turnout. They always destroy themselves with their own hubris (remember Mitt Romney was so certain on election night that all non-Repub polls were wrong and he was about to become President Romney?) The best way to defeat the Repubs in 2016 (and have a chance to change the balance on the SCOTUS) was for them to win this year’s election.

Murph – True that Repubs have been very successful on the local and state levels and that some are continuing to try and cheat in elections with that Electoral Votes by District ploy but I think that’s going to be a lot harder to pull off in swing states then they recognize. And in red states, it won’t change anything.

CL – The numbers show that Repubs turned out in this election and Dems and indies didn’t so I don’t think it’s the case that voters changed their voting patterns. And I will take any bets, no way is America going to elect another bush just 8 years after the last one destroyed our country.

Murph – I would guess that in some states, if it’s in their constitution, they’ll need a 2/3 vote. For those states that don’t, a simple majority may be all that’s needed in a Legislature or ballot initiative. But my point is that a swing state will have so many disenfranchised and angered Dem voters, they will turn out hugely in the next election and I think control and that election cheat will change.

CL – That’s exactly what we need, a wealthy guy (or more) pushing for the end of gerrymandering in states by ballot initiative. With a citizens panel, it’s sure a tough propaganda haul to convince voters that injustice and corruption is preferable.

Murph – Do you recall what happened in the situation when Repubs tried to do that in PA? It got squashed but don’t remember the details. But the DoJ was ready to step in on that (if they didn’t). It would be obscene disenfranchisement of voters in federal elections and even if the people didn’t reject it, the courts very well would.

slm – Nope, I didn’t expect the angry Dem thing to happen this election. It’s usually the party out of power that’s angry. Add to that, so many Dems running as anti-Obama Dems with NO message and NO bragging about Obama’s accomplishments, it was very discouraging for Dems. Of course, those of us with a sense of responsibility as citizens and an eye towards the impact of elections would vote anyway but the more lazy Dem voters only come out for Presidential elections. That’s when they’ll express their anger at Repubs.

CL – The Prosecutor has made it clear that he was going to throw off the indictment for Wilson, if things turn out as is likely and this bogus Grand Jury lets him off, he’d never be able to operate as a cop in the future anyway so both the force and Wilson want to negotiate his departure. Look for him starring on a reality show soon after where he shoots defenseless black men claiming he feared for his life each time.

CL – With abortion clinics being stamped out in most red states AND the rejection of the ACA’s Medicaid expansion, doesn’t it look like a dark and troubled future ahead for the people and governments in those states? More and more poor uninsured children and adults piling up with illnesses and emergency room visits? And more poverty due to medical expenses? All these red states seem bound for destruction and millions of lives put in such terrible situations.

CL – I don’t think that’s what happened, they haven’t won public opinion over on the personalization of the egg. Personhood bills have been voted down in MS and other red states. As Murph said, Repubs have disproportionate control of government in the states where the outlawing of clinics have happened but the majority of voters haven’t supported it.

CL and slm – The unpleasant lesson we’ve learned is that there are no permanent wins. On abortion, on racism, the RW will never stop fighting to turn things back their way. The mistake folks on the Left made was not knowing to constantly promote their victories and why each generation would need to fight to maintain them. Beatlex – Cosby appeared on Jon Stewart just before all of this hit the fan and Stewart sincerely honored Cosby as the inspiration he was to so many comedians…but last night Stewart made a sharp joke about Cosby. slm – Kind of sad that it took a man to say it for it to stick but a standup comedian made a jab at Cosby, calling him a rapist and explaining some of this in his act. The video of that went viral and it is that and only that apparently, that made this blow up. Then when he pandered to make himself a meme on Facebook, he was hammered. meanwhile, women had been suing him and trying to get him prosecuted for decades.
