  • AdLib : See you later!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Over and out.
  • AdLib : Night, my friend!
  • AdLib : Murph - In the end, people need to get and be able to pay for health care. It does seem inevitable that the enemies of the ACA will have to roll over.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : So....at last good night...
  • MurphTheSurf3 : More cracks in the anti-ACA wall.
  • AdLib : Murph - Sorry about the delay replying but I was really impressed with it!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : I replied to your question about my meeting last week...what did you think?
  • AdLib : Murph - Thanks for the kind words! We are the "citizens think tank"!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : OH....before you go...
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Take care and good night.
  • AdLib : Cole will be attacked tomorrow by the GOP for not howling "Benghazi!".
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Well....Ad Lib...sorry you had the techno hell earlier tonight. Still it worked out ok. This kind of discussion is better here than at HP where it gets drowned by all the professional pundits.
  • AdLib : The paranoia of the RW is just so astounding and obvious! Who but the "nutshells" in the TP could see him as anyone other than a lunatic.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : What's in a Nutshell...? Cole is trying to be reasonable....ob viously a Rhino.
  • AdLib : Heh!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Schmidt just called the Congressman someone captured in a NUTSHELL
  • AdLib : Yep, I'm a few minutes behind but it is so hilarious! I thought she was going to cut him loose earlier but the longer she kept him, the funnier it got!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Chris Hayes, who I like more and more, is doing political standup...well done...
  • AdLib : He is a clueless Bagger and the only thing he knows to do is dig a hole and often, under himself.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : It is fun watching the rest of the panel laugh.....as Huelskamp signed off.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : HE CALLED RACHEL A CHEERLEADER....d oesn't he know that Rachel is the one (with an assist from Lawrence O'Donnell) who laid Christie out on the slab....?
  • AdLib : You're right, this is the most entertaining tv of the night!
  • AdLib : He's got that shaky-voice fear in his talk.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Huelskamp may be the highlight for the night....the poster boy for GOP nonsense.
  • AdLib : Murph - He's a babbling idiot!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Huelskamp- belongs to the "just keep talking" school of interviewing...
  • AdLib : What a nervous fool!
  • AdLib : Yes Murph - Watching him meltdown now!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Good night Patsy...
  • AdLib : Thanks for the link to the Seeger video, Patsy! Sorry to see him pass.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad it appears that you and I are the lone survivors of the night...Rachel has Tim Huelskamp on and she is in the process of eviscerating him...quietly with a sharp scapel.
  • AdLib : Night Patsy! Sleep well!
  • AdLib : Murph - Imagining a black man delivering his 5th SOTU speech is exactly what terrifies the GOP base.
  • PatsyT : Love you Kids but must say night night... best to you all ... love and peace «link»
  • AdLib : Murph - That was a great moment.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Thanks for the link. I shall take a look.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Imagine...a black man delivering his 5th State of the Union...who woulda thunk it.
  • AdLib : Here's a link to Mike Lee's cheap looking video response: «link»
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad...also his fine salute to the Sgt and then transitioning to what the Sgt's valor means to all of us, not just those in military uniform. AND I loved the "40 times is enough."
  • AdLib : Murph - I thought Obama's opening with all the positive trends was great and his hammering the Repubs on the success of the ACA and the folly of their tantrums over it, were my favorites.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad...Lee is a lightweight by any standard.
  • AdLib : Murph - From what I just read on the other speeches, Lee fell into Obama's trap and wailed about inequity being Obama's and the ACA's fault...and without having Obama's backboard to bounce it off of, it looks kind of crazy. Rand Paul supposedly just played it safe with the standard GOP BS.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Whoever is still here....Best moment for Obama tonight? Worst moment?
  • MurphTheSurf3 : All three GOP responses...THRE E OF THEM WHAT DOES THAT SAY...totally without impact of any kind...they have nothing to say and they did...say nothing.
  • AdLib : Ted Cruz did an interview recently that wailed that Obama shut down the government. Whoops, someone have a little regret?
  • AdLib : Murph:
  • AdLib : Schmuck Todd is the hack who complained that the most important issue was that the press couldn't take their own unflattering pictures of Obama.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : MIKE LEE...did anyone see Ted Cruz's hand up his butt to move the mouth....that's what he said.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Want to hear what Chuck Todd Tweeted? "This is not going to go down as Pres Obama's most ambitious SOTU. It is a modest agenda. WH would argue they are being realistic" Scarborough Tweeted: "Disappointing by any meausre." Those Two: GLUM AND GLUMMER.
  • AdLib : Anyone see the Mike Lee Bagger response?
  • PatsyT : Nighty Night Fergie !
  • AdLib : Bye Fergie, sounds good!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Good night Fergie
  • AdLib : Night Funk! Take care and hi to the family!
  • Fergie1 : Ok good folks, 3:30pm here and time to get the show on the road. So I bid you all adieu and see you soon again. Ad, I'll get back to you on your kind response on the other thread as soon as I can. Thank you very, very much.
  • funksands : Folks, I gotta roll too. Late dinner. Night all!
  • AdLib : Thanks for posting that, Patsy! Great to see you!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Patsy- thanks for the link, many of us were impressed with the tack it took...stealing GOP thunder.
  • AdLib : Fergie, yes, I think it did the job fine but I guess I'm just awaiting a moment when the majority in this nation can be energized.
  • PatsyT : Night Sabreen
  • PatsyT : «link»
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Night Sabreen
  • PatsyT : This is the Ad to Share
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Fergie- I just mentioned that the first rule of a SOTU comes from the Hippocratic Oath...First, do no harm. That was done tonight...and then point out the path...gentle your side along and nudge the others aside.
  • Fergie1 : Night Sabreen! I got here late also. Good to see you.
  • PatsyT : OK kids Share this everywhere... this has just been broadcast tonight «link»
  • MurphTheSurf3 : funk..truth!
  • funksands : Night kitty
  • AdLib : Night Sabreen! Good seeing you!
  • funksands : Canadian Tar, Russian workers, Indian Steel, for export to Europe. USA USA
  • Fergie1 : Unfortunately Ad, as all SOTU's fade away, so this will also. It was a good map for laying out the plans for the future and a challenege to the GOP. The talking heads will get a good run for a few days. I thought President Obama did a very good job laying out these plans. It's a short span to be able to address every problem in short period of time. I was pleased that at least the gun issue and mental health issue were mentioned along with the right to vote as well as the hot button issues.
  • AdLib : Murph - Right. I think it was fine and his avoidance of confrontation for the most part did leave the RW off balance so in the big picture, it could accomplish more than it may seem. I'm just anxious for there to be a real rallying cry for the majority out there that feels so helpless and ignored.
  • Sabreen60 : I got here to late to stay long. I have an early morning. I thought PBO gave an excellent SOTU and pounded the Republicans just about right. Night all. Hope to see you Friday.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Funk and Ad..what is interesting is the use of a tactic, buy American for Americans, a GOP angle, has been seized by those opposed to Keystone here....effecive .
  • funksands : Murph, Keystone leads to an export terminal that specifically is to turn it into diesel and sell it to Europe, S. America and China. Virtually none of the fuel would stay in the US. This has been admitted by TransCanada
  • AdLib : Murph - Saw it too, preceded by a pro-gun-control ad with Gabby Giffords. Yet through the week it's all oil company advertising on MSNBC.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : ad...I think that SOTUs are written and delivered with the Hippocratic Oath in mind... First, do no harm...
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Sidenote...I just saw an ad, first time, that links the proponents of Keystone with the Chinese, and exporting U.S. oil overseas...very interesting.
  • funksands : Ad, I think so. I think it gives House candidate some meat to bring to their campaigns.
  • AdLib : Murph - Yep, I do think it was more of a jumping off point for EOs and a populist campaign in 2014 but I don't think it was memorable enough to be so effective.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : I said in a post here yesterday that the topic of the speech would be the midterms...Obama 's tone was positive but challenging; his list of what's going well are the bragging rights; the list of what's not going well are the sticking points to use on the GOP...This is a blueprint speech.
  • escribacat : Thanks Patsy. I thought they had shut it down years ago when they realized it was on top of an earthquake fault.
  • AdLib : Funk - Though even if it was meant to set the tone for the elections this year, if it doesn't turn out to be resonant, did it succeed?
  • PatsyT : Choice night to you
  • funksands : Murph, I thought it was very solid. I liked it.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad Lib...good SOTUs provide a jumping off point in rhetoric, in vision and in pointing to likely executive action....I think this happended tonight.
  • AdLib : Murph - I thought he was very positive and very relaxed as he did so. I could be wrong but I thought that a more focused and hammering speech might have been better.
  • funksands : Ad, I fear that it won't stick. Not sure if it was meant to. I think this was all about setting the tone of the mid-terms.
  • PatsyT : ECat Diablo has been up and down the best site for updates is here «link»
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Of note to me....Obama hit more than 50 topics tonight but it did not feel as rushed, or laundry list like as many in the past....anyone else see this or this my colored glasses
  • AdLib : What do you think, will this speech be resonant on the populist message or will it soon fade away?
  • choicelady : Night Beatlex!
  • Sabreen60 : Hi CL. Nite CL :)
  • choicelady : THERE is Sabreen - I'm just leaving, darling. Catch up maybe Friday? Be well!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Night, CL...
  • PatsyT : Nighty Night Choice!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Sab- hey there....we were all in limbo for an hour or so.
  • choicelady : Good night AdLib, Patsy, funk Murph - Where is Sabreen? Night to her, too.
  • PatsyT : Hey Sabreen!
  • AdLib : Hey Sabreen! Sorry about that, a technical issue but we're back!
  • escribacat : Hi Sabreen!
  • Sabreen60 : Hi Planeteers. I tried to get on the site earlier but couldn't.
  • AdLib : Night CL! Have a nice rest of your evening!
  • choicelady : es - lovely to see you, however too briefly.
  • escribacat : Good night Choice, Nice chatting with you!!
  • funksands : Night CL!
  • PatsyT : Nighty night PPO
  • escribacat : Diablo Canyon isn't still running is it?
  • choicelady : OK everyone - hubby came home from a meeting, and we need to catch up. Hugs to everyone! Good night!
  • PatsyT : Sorry to hear that Choice ... we are still pushing him on renewables and dropping the nuke now the last one Diablo Canyon
  • AdLib : Bye PPO!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Thanks pink.
  • choicelady : PPO - have a great day. Thanks for being here!
  • AdLib : Thanks for the link, Funk!
  • escribacat : See ya later Pink
  • pinkpantheroz : Well, gotta go. Thanks everyone for this fascinating chat. No doubt we'll continue offline in the SOTU article. I'll be there soon.
  • choicelady : funk - OH - did not remember the name of the book. Thanks!
  • AdLib : Murph - Well done and excellent argument! He's a self-centered man who has no clue what the word "victim" means and like all egoists, sees any suffering he manufactures in his head as bad as the worst suffering in history.
  • choicelady : Patsy - we tried with Brown on many issues, and if he wants to do something he will. We had tens of thousands - not exaggerating - on a farm workers' bill he vetoed anyway. He's without heart.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : CL- got a lot of response to that...AD LIB..agree about the Billionaire Bubble...
  • funksands : CL, the DC correspondent wrote a book about the self-perpetuatii ng incestuous cesspool of DC. Named ALL the names. Very entertaining. «link»
  • PatsyT : Dont wait to like any of these guys .. hint hint Jerry Brown ... push them is the right direction send the letter call the offices and do it daily if you can
  • AdLib : Murph - I think that's because these types live in bubbles, only associating with their fellow millionaires and billionaires and stunned that everyone else doesn't see how victimized the wealthy are as they all do.
  • choicelady : Murph - GREAT for YOU! He is so stupid pretending he's at risk. What a schmuck.
  • choicelady : funk - I don't think Jerry is that liberal. Schumer has better policies if you do NOT count his pro-Israel issues. Jerry has no core values at all.
  • escribacat : CL -- wow, that is disappointing.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad Lib...I don't disagree but still he seemed genuinely baffled. I took him on big time at HP since it was the wealthy who backed Hitler and thus sponsored Kristalnacht and then went on to grab Jewish property, to use Jewish labor and to build the camps and gas chambers.
  • PatsyT : Dept of the bleeding obvious !!!!! love it PPO
  • choicelady : es - Yeah - Jerry isn't what he was. I detest him.
  • funksands : CL I heard Jerry referred to as "West Coast Schumer" the other day. I about did a spit take.
  • choicelady : funk - what's "This Town" about?
  • escribacat : Wow.Brown has turned to the right? I lived there when he was Gov last time. I remember going to his events when he was running. Very liberal.
  • AdLib : Murph - I don't know that I could be as generous about him. Like all entitled people, he was quick to claim victimhood when his greed was called out. The act of the entitled IMO. And his apology was just damage control since he did say that he meant what he said, just regretted using the extreme metaphor.
  • funksands : Chris Matthews has a part in this book.
  • choicelady : Murph - that is what I am all about. Not violence but major confrontation with the smug and self satisfied.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Cl...ah....
  • Beatlex : The President touched Boehners Bawl Button when he mentioned his humble beginnings
  • pinkpantheroz : No kidding, Patsy? Wow! I must report this immediately to the Department of the Bleeding Obvious!
  • funksands : Anyone read "This Town"? Great book. Depressing read.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Es....yes....Bro wn's people confirmed it.
  • choicelady : es - I'm not. Jerry is a turncoat. Pro business lib. His wife's father was George Romney's partner, and she has caused him to take a very RIGHT turn.
  • Fergie1 : Good night KT! Take care.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : CL....reset through revolution...tha t is what he should fear.
  • pinkpantheroz : No kidding,
  • escribacat : Chris Matthews is so irritating!!
  • PatsyT : Ha Ha Chris Mathews just said that workers work in the work place
  • escribacat : Murph, how interesting that he's a Brown supporter!! Wow. I'm very surprised.
  • choicelady : Murph - I challenge him to show me anything he has done for ordinary people. Paying well? Promoting good jobs for unskilled people? ANYTHING? It's not the Holocaust he should fear -it's the French Rev. tundrels comin' for him. And I'm leading one of the horse if he does not shut up.
  • Fergie1 : Ad, you got that right re the GOP not making themselves more of a laughing stock than they already are. Unfortunately, they control people's destiny by their continuous blocking and negativity with no solutions.
  • pinkpantheroz : G'night KT!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Funk...thanks
  • funksands : Murph, that's an interesting observation. Just cuz you're rich doesn't mean you don't fall for bullshit.
  • AdLib : Night KT!
  • SallyT : Night KT! See ya later, Buddy!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Bye KT- see you Friday.
  • AdLib : CL - I did see Boehner's mouth quivering throughout the speech...right now he's guzzling whatever he can get his hands on, that was way too long for him to go without a drink.
  • choicelady : KT - sleep well and freaking STAY WARM. Sorry you're in the deep freeze AGAIN.
  • PatsyT : Nighty Night KT
  • escribacat : Goodnight Killgore
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice- here is what is odd about Billionaire Perkins, he is a Brown supporter AND he seem genuinely sorry for his reference today....and then went on to basically say his metaphor was wrong but his underlying message was correct.....what that says to me is that he is as much a victim of the brainwashing as that poor guy a mile down the road from me who votes GOP against his own interests. This guy is speaking against his real interests.
  • choicelady : AdLib - PBO landed on those basic values that no one dares dispute. So yeah - screwed over the RW rebuttal.
  • escribacat : I'm really glad Obama is fighting the BombbombbombIran wing.
  • funksands : Night KT.
  • PatsyT : Nuclear is cancer... the rates are going up all over the country because of Fukushima...
  • KillgoreTrout : Well good folks, I bid you adieu for this evening. Take care all.
  • pinkpantheroz : Adlib, perhaps, but their responses blew that concept out of the water.
  • escribacat : Choice -- ain't that the truth!!!
  • choicelady : es - Maybe, but when you have billions, people treat you as if you're sane.
  • AdLib : Murph - So true, Foxd and the RW were in full class warfare mode and when Obama didn't justify it, they seemed so sad.
  • escribacat : CL--that guy was just another paranoid WorldNetDaily reader.
  • funksands : Patsy, what Republicans are you referring to? The current GOP loves transfers of wealth if the right people get it.
  • choicelady : Patsy - tax money going into Bechtel's pockets? golden to the GOP.
  • pinkpantheroz : Boehner is so full of sh*t his eyes also turned brown!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Funk- I agree this was a rope to those running on the left- even his left will be backed to the hilt...
  • choicelady : Murph - the billionaire in SF who said he was targeted like Jews in the Holocaust will read into this SOTU that same 'OMG they're coming for me" belief. He's sick.
  • AdLib : Any question that the GOP had one goal in their response to the SOTU, "Just don't make a laughing stock out of ourselves, for once in the last 4 years, please?!"
  • PatsyT : Nuclear takes up so much of tax payers money I would think that the repubs would be pissed off on this
  • Fergie1 : escribacat - There is NO doubt that!
  • funksands : Boehner looked worse that usual X.
  • choicelady : Fergie - GOP=crickets. But they think they rock.
  • KillgoreTrout : I think the speech was very diplomatic in it's approach, but the president did get a few good anti RW zingers in there.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad...I think you are correct re. the tactics here...I actually wonder if the entire "OBAMA WILL GO AFTER BILLIONAIRES" narrative was a fake out...cuz that is all they have been talking about.
  • Beatlex : Boehner looked like he was holding in a crap for the whole speech.Except for the part when the President almost made him cry
  • funksands : $$$$$
  • choicelady : funk - GREAT observation!
  • escribacat : Fergie -- their plan is simple: Vote NO.
  • choicelady : Patsy - PRAISE BE! I fought that shit in the 70s. Damn well about time it got stuffed.
  • AdLib : Murph - I'm sure the Repubs and Fox are all upset at Obama not hammering the economic inequality more, they probably had many Ailes' scripts ready to go that they couldn't use.
  • funksands : Murph, his speech was a signal to candidates that if you run on populism, we'll have your back. I think that's important.
  • Fergie1 : The President laid out HIS plans and put out the challenge to the GOP for their plans. Who hears crickets besides me?
  • choicelady : Kalima - love that you could be here for a bit! Thank you for your insights!
  • pinkpantheroz : Thanks, Adlib. You just did with the word 'loony'!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Kalima - thanks for stopping in.
  • PatsyT : No Choice the nuclear genie is dead and never to be resussetated
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Doing a spin through the various networks. Thumbs up from MSNBC, PBS, CNN, AJA....Fox, well you know. Comments about his challenging the other side but not enraging them. Comments about his soft pedaling of the issue of wealth disparity.
  • AdLib : PPO - We'll give you the highlights on the next loony speeches by Repubs when they come.
  • Kalima : Can't stay but thought the speech was strong and covered everything. It was a tonic to see the miserable GOP side. They looked as if they all needed a strong laxative. Take care and see you soon. Ja ne.
  • KillgoreTrout : Ad, Yellowstone would make Vesuvius look like the popping of a pimple.
  • choicelady : Beatlex - Yes, not in the House, so we have to change that in the Fall. Snotty progressive HAVE to vote and have to vote DEM not Green, Peace & Freedom, but DEM. They need, seriously, to GROW UP.
  • funksands : When Yellowstone blows it will be a near-extinction event. Lets not rush it....
  • pinkpantheroz : I can't get MSNBC or CNN just now in australia. Normally can, but I think they've embargoed it. Dammit!
  • AdLib : escrib - I saw a 60 Minutes piece on Yellowstone and the massive volcano beneath it...though Vesuvius too!
  • escribacat : Killgore -- yes, that's the impression I got!
  • choicelady : Patsy - I worked with Faithful Security against Bush's "Complex 2030" on nuclear build up under Bush. From a weapons view, that has ended. It's over. Frankly Snowden harmed our negotiations with Russia, but I hope they are restored. From a domestic point of view - the things you've fought so hard to end - I see almost NO push from this administration to make that central. NONE.
  • SallyT : I know Escrib, I think I saw the same one. And, they want to frack close to it! That is suicide
  • PatsyT : Ugg My spell check sucks on Chrome
  • Fergie1 : Hi Kalima! Great to see you today! I'll chat with you soon on MB!
  • escribacat : Funk -- same mechanism that makes them put all their hopes on another Bush for next election.
  • funksands : Not every station is showing all three. I think CNN is, but I busted that channel.
  • KillgoreTrout : e'cat, if Yellowstone blows, it will be very bad news. It will take out half the country.
  • PatsyT : We have to go Solar Wind and ENERGY EFFICIENCEY
  • escribacat : I thought they were having three more responses. Was that a joke?
  • funksands : I still find it remarkable that the biggest economic collapse in 80 years has nothing to do with anything in conservative world
  • AdLib : Well...where's Mike Lee of the Bagger Brigade?
  • Beatlex : Choicelady,not in the house
  • PatsyT : Last centuries energy will hold us down
  • escribacat : Sally -- I watched a documentary about Yellowstone. It was scary. It could go kaboom and it would be huge.
  • choicelady : Beatlex - he has a LOT of dance partners I think. Now maybe the polls today that show a generic 42-40 win for the GOP in the House will reverse.
  • SallyT : Those earthquakes are a big concern to me. Especially when they are finding in measurements that Yellowstone is rising and that is from lava!
  • PatsyT : We have to do what Germany is doing and we will rock the world with renewables
  • funksands : I'll draw the line at nuclear though Patsy
  • AdLib : Hey Kalima! Thanks for clearing that up and great to see you here!
  • KillgoreTrout : I guess my point was that Obama is not trying to roll back post WWII defense policies.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Kalima! Greetings...so nice to have you spending some time from the other side of the globe.
  • choicelady : Kalima - thanks for an 'on site' reflection on Japan and the US.
  • funksands : I'm weird that way.
  • Beatlex : I thought the President gave a great speech. To bad he doesn't have a dance partner to get all of those things done
  • funksands : Frack and Drill away. Until we have any kind of comprehensive energy policy, let's not export our pollution to other countries.
  • escribacat : Polis is VERY Dem. First openly gay Rep in the House.
  • AdLib : Funk - Glad you're back!
  • Kalima : Hi, just to clear this up, it's just local government, a mayor, who doesn't want U.S. troops in Okinawa. The U.S. Pays Jaoan to be there.
  • choicelady : es - is Polis a Dem or a GOP?
  • KillgoreTrout : CL, LOL!
  • PatsyT : Hey Murph!!
  • choicelady : Patsy - well for SURE CA doesn't. No freaking WATER thank you.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Hello Patsy and Funk...this party is STARTING TO ROLL....where is the home brew hops!
  • AdLib : Sally - That does happen sometimes! ;-)
  • escribacat : My House rep Jared Polis had a fracking rig set up near his house and freaked out. COmplained. Now they are paying a fine.
  • choicelady : KT - I agree. Boehner went from bright orange to pale sherbet at that comment!
  • PatsyT : no stinking fracking
  • MurphTheSurf3 : CL...Chris did, over the moon actually.
  • Fergie1 : I was wondering where the cameras were on the Republican women when The Prez was talking about equality for women's equal pay for equal work? Did they all remain seated and silent?!
  • PatsyT : We don't need not stinking fracking!
  • escribacat : Beatlex -- Adlib is being stalked by a 12 year old Ukranian who hacked his site.
  • funksands : Good point Pink
  • choicelady : funk - LOL!!
  • pinkpantheroz : Didn't you see, funk? 40 is enough!
  • escribacat : Adlib -- I've had a few bosses who talked to me that way. They were all incompetent. Though I do generally like Hickenlooper.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Fergie- we were attacked by Tea Party Gremlins....or at least that's my story...told to me by a Dem leprechaun.
  • AdLib : Fergie1 - Nice to see you! The site went down for a while but we're back!
  • KillgoreTrout : I thought Boehner was going to vomit when Obama talked about 40 tries being enough. LOL!
  • PatsyT : The oil/gas industry is pushing our leaders to love nat gas via fracking... we have to push back!
  • choicelady : Murph - Chris LIKED it? wow.
  • SallyT : Duh! We were on the same think line.
  • choicelady : AdLib - had earthquakes in NE Ohio. Kasich DID stop it. Whether or not fracking is safe has SO many variables, and the nature of the shale is one.
  • funksands : I have 53 pending comments. Please hang on while I post all of them
  • SallyT : Whoops, Adlib we where on the same think line.
  • AdLib : Escrib - The words of a condescending politician towards those who disagree with him, "You just don't understand." I know he's a Dem but there are Dems who have issues too.
  • Beatlex : AdLib,this page must have been busy,I have been unable to connect to the page until now
  • MurphTheSurf3 : CL...I loved that little jab as well...40 is enough....a bit snarky and it worked.
  • Fergie1 : Hi all! Just listened to the President's SOTU live in Aust. Couldn't get into POV. Lots of great reactions here and taking it all in.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Chris Matthews is calling the address nationalistic, proud, spirited, strong....a REAL AMERICAN SPEECH.
  • PatsyT : He can mention the nat gas, but the actual implimatation of more of it is another thing
  • SallyT : And causing small earthquakes where there never have been any.
  • escribacat : Adlib -- that's right I forgot aobut that story but just read it last week or something. Very weird!!!!
  • choicelady : es - I LOVED when he said no more votes to kill ACA - "forty were enough". Cracked me up. Nice shot, kindly and joshingly said.
  • KillgoreTrout : That's the way I took it, Ad. He did say safe natural gas. But that's not what's being done.
  • AdLib : escrib - Did you hear about the small TX town suffering earthquakes due to fracking and they can't get the state or county to stop it?
  • choicelady : KT - I don't think he's endorsing anything, but natural gas as a byproduct of oil without fracking IS a critical element of our clean air program here in Sacramento and SF for our public transit buses.
  • escribacat : Colorado Gov. Hickenlooper is pro fracking too. He insists people don't understand what it is. Seems to me that injecting chemicals in the ground water is pretty easy to understand.
  • pinkpantheroz : Oh, AdLib, I think there was enough mongrel that even the GOP got his message. Hopefully anyway.
  • AdLib : KT - Yep, he was endorsing fracking indirectly and that bothered me.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : PPO- I pickup up on that as well....stiletto slices.
  • PatsyT : The frackers will burn themselves out - when folks see that their water will ignite
  • escribacat : Adib -- NOTHING works with GOPers.
  • escribacat : Pink -- that's one thing I've always loved about Obama -- his understatedness. He's the calm assertive leader.
  • AdLib : PPO - My issue though is that subtlety is the last thing that works when dealing with Repubs.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad- SOTU's rarely do that...sound clips help to create a bit more energy in the base....when they are packaged....and I thought he provided a brought but real outline of what he plans to do without sounding threatening.
  • KillgoreTrout : Ad, I did too. Was he endorsing fracking?
  • escribacat : Folks are fracking crazy in my region.
  • pinkpantheroz : I thought that the President was a master of the cutting understatement. Subtle ( and some not-so) challenges for Congress to get off its youknowwhat and DO something positive.
  • AdLib : Glad about solar, cringed about his talking up natural gas.
  • escribacat : Patsy, he mentioned we are leaders in solar now. I hadn't heard that. That's great news.
  • PatsyT : I should say LOVED that he talked up Solar!!
  • AdLib : Murph - I thought it was fine but not striking. Good ideas and propositions but not a speech that I see activating people in the way that's needed.
  • PatsyT : I like that he talked up Solar!!!
  • choicelady : AdLib - nasty but funny!!! LOL!!
  • choicelady : PPO - I'm not even listening to the 'response' because it isn't. Blather. It's all blather.
  • AdLib : CL - It was more of an accident, he was trying to use it as a trap to catch game animals.
  • pinkpantheroz : Gosh! What a load of bollocks being uttered in response. Where are the facts, folks? Oh, I forgot. It's the GOP/TP we're talking about.
  • choicelady : Murph - FREAKING GREAT! I was not moved last year but was OVER THE MOON this one!
  • PatsyT : Ecat that must be it... I kinda can't tell
  • MurphTheSurf3 : SO...what is our impression of this SOTU?
  • choicelady : AdLib - do NOT go there. It would mean he was charitable, and I will never believe that EVER.
  • escribacat : Adlib LOL
  • AdLib : Escrib - Yes, Christie did get his tummy clipped and it was donated as a housing structure for a homeless family.
  • choicelady : es - yes he had lap band I think. He's lost a LOT of weight.
  • escribacat : Patsy -- he was truly enormous. I think he probably has lost weight but you just can't tell because there's so much of it.
  • choicelady : Patsy - now now - he's lost a LOT of weight since his surgery. I'm admiring of that. Nothing else but that.
  • PatsyT : Ecat I thought he Did get the procedure done... So why is he still taking up so much space?
  • choicelady : Murph - did not see her, but I'm glad to know she's not the bitches I used to deal with outside women's clinics. Progress...
  • AdLib : Murph - I called her the Stepford Speaker, she was pleasant and vacant, spoke only in forgettable vagaries. A total waste IMO.
  • escribacat : Patsy, didn't he get his tummy clipped?
  • choicelady : AdLib - shows a lack of imagination blocking the bridge AGAIN.
  • escribacat : Murph -- and she was thirsty
  • PatsyT : Ohhhh you said the CC name.... He is relived that he can go back to having that extra donut
  • choicelady : KT =- vote in better House reps, and watch it fly! NOTHING will go easily with a GOP House.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ok....well the good thing was I got to focus on Obama's entire address and then I saw the GOP response. She looked nice, and she wasn't nasty...no ideas, no substance...and she admitted the old way of doing health care did not work... woooohooooo!
  • escribacat : CL he's apparently a blatherer on fox news.
  • AdLib : Christie's response is to block a lane of the GW Bridge.
  • choicelady : es - I'd NOT be surprised if the goonie general was one, no.
  • KillgoreTrout : Sure they say immigration reform is important, but they certainly do NOT agree on how it should be reformed.
  • choicelady : AdLib - Christie is responding, but he's doing it quietly at home over a single malt.
  • AdLib : escrib - A prison interview?
  • escribacat : Who's next? The goonie general who wants to take over the country?
  • AdLib : Patsy - Only Chris Christie.
  • PatsyT : Hey who is not responding to the SOTU Speech ?
  • choicelady : es - I should have know it would be a kid in the Ukraine.
  • AdLib : Murph - Yep, the site went down, we're back up and the issue that caused us not to get back up quickly should be resolved.
  • choicelady : KT - and a lot of their leaders DO want us. It's not an easy world. We are drawing down, but it's naïve to think we can just leave. This is a dangerous world even today.'
  • escribacat : Some 12 year old in the Ukraine has it in for Adlib.
  • PatsyT : I could not get on till I switched to Chrome
  • choicelady : Murph - YES. Several of us got locked out. I for one took it personally...
  • pinkpantheroz : Thanks, escrib I'll go check it out
  • escribacat : Murph. PPOV was dead for most of the speech. I think Adlib got hacked!
  • AdLib : PPO - The networks are airing the empty-headed Repub spokeswoman and Stepford Wife role model.
  • KillgoreTrout : A lot of people in Okinawa do not want us there.
  • choicelady : Sally - of course it was shit. You expected better?
  • MurphTheSurf3 : WELL I AM BACK...did the site crash for anyone else? I was off line for more than an hour.
  • escribacat : You probably don't get that.
  • escribacat : She's on MSNBC pink
  • PatsyT : I guess to run for office as a repub you have to have a special needs child
  • SallyT : She didn't say shit! Oh, wait it was shit!
  • pinkpantheroz : Sorry, What is everyone watching right now? I have a guy talking on this site's feed
  • AdLib : Is she going to end with, "You betcha!"?
  • choicelady : Japan doesn't want us there? LOL!! Saves them HUGE money. I'm sure Cuba doesn't, but if Congress would get its ass in gear we could close Gitmo and leave.
  • escribacat : Adlib precisely. YOu couldn't be more vague than she is.
  • AdLib : CL - You nailed it!
  • PatsyT : Go back to McDonalds lady
  • KillgoreTrout : I said a "sort," of imperialism. I have read news where Japan doesn't really want us there, and Cuba.
  • AdLib : Blah-blah-blah-e verything great happens as long as you talk about it in vague generalities!
  • choicelady : AdLib - no sex. Makes 'em all leathery.
  • choicelady : Patsy - you are SO naïve thinking waiting is a BAD thing. The rich just have to....I'm workin' on it...
  • SallyT : Yes, you can find coverage but you won't be able to pay for it, lady!
  • AdLib : Gulp!!! Why are Repubs always so dried out?
  • escribacat : What a bunch of vague misleading bullshit.
  • AdLib : So this Stepford Repub starts by attacking Obama for empty promises...then proceeds to make a list of ridiculous empty promises.
  • PatsyT : Where are are all those jobs that the job creators said they would produce with the last round of tax cuts.
  • choicelady : KT - NOPE it is not imperialism when it is by agreement and not to take over.
  • SallyT : Prove it, lady!
  • escribacat : Yeah, she's supposed to be the folksy girl next door.
  • pinkpantheroz : AdLib, Choice, You're right. I do however like his mention of the cessation of major troop and equipment deployments any where from now on. It must make the MIC nervous.
  • choicelady : AdLib - they failed to create jobs under Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush and now Obama. I'm too old to wait ANY MORE.
  • KillgoreTrout : CL, then that is a sort of imperialism. Do these countries want us there?
  • escribacat : *smack smack**
  • AdLib : Really, do the Repubs honestly believe that blaming "Obama's policies", which America know they've blocked, works???
  • SallyT : They have plans but no one knows them!
  • AdLib : Yep, it's Obama's fault that the wealthy aren't wealthier and aren't creating jobs.
  • choicelady : KT - For treaties to assure safety. It's naïve to think they cannot be there.,
  • choicelady : AdLib - I've been waiting for decades for trickle down - and it is now as before, drool.
  • KillgoreTrout : Well CL, then why are they there?
  • PatsyT : Oh yes they want every women to choose to have the babies that have defects
  • AdLib : "We want to empower you...by letting the wealthy keep the taxes that help you!"
  • choicelady : KT - so what? They are NOT combat troops.
  • choicelady : Sally - you were expecting Eleanor Roosevelt?
  • KillgoreTrout : We also have troops in Japan, Cuba and elsewhere.
  • SallyT : OMG she is another Palin!
  • AdLib : Gulp!
  • choicelady : AdLib - because they attended the same bad acting school.
  • AdLib : What the heck? Why do they always sound like they attended the same bad acting school???
  • PatsyT : Quick some give that gal a plastic water bottle
  • choicelady : KT - having troops in Germany is just NOT the same!
  • escribacat : Oh, it's Gidget!
  • KillgoreTrout : CL, We still have troops based in many, many countries.
  • escribacat : She has cotton mouth just like Rubio!
  • AdLib : Escrib - Nope, the site crashed but I think the problem's fixed now...unfortunat ely, after missing most of the speech. But...we do have the 4 Repub responses coming up!
  • choicelady : KT - we don't have 50,000 in Iraq. Where'd you hear that?
  • PatsyT : Yikes there is some poor women on msnbc it looks like she has been hypomtized She is from an Apple orchard!
  • SallyT : Repub lady, get off the exceptionalism!
  • choicelady : es - no funk and I for sure were dumped.
  • KillgoreTrout : Exactly PPO. In Iraq, we were under a pre-arranged agreement to get out, yet we still have 50,000 troops there.
  • AdLib : PPO - I think we have to leave him to his fate. We can't change that country and that weasel isn't worth a single American soldier
  • choicelady : PPO - seriously. You really should not repress your feelings...
  • escribacat : Hey, you're back! Was I the only one bumped off?
  • choicelady : KT -not at all. This president is undoing ALL the post WW II imperialism of America.
  • pinkpantheroz : AdLib, KT, I feel Karzai is a cretinous, venal, multi-faced worm. He must know that he's toast if the US gets fed up with his rants and says, Cheerio!
  • AdLib : CL - Exactly, it's just not possible to stay there whether the generals do or don't want to. We will be out by next year.
  • KillgoreTrout : Different situations CL.
  • choicelady : AdLib - if we ever WANTED to stay in Afghanistan, you're right that Karzai makes it totally impossible!
  • KillgoreTrout : Yes PPO, you do. The Glenlivit ain't so bad either.
  • choicelady : KT - PBO said we'd be out of Iraq. We are out. He does what he says.
  • PatsyT : Hey Choice!
  • KillgoreTrout : CL, I'm not so optimistic.
  • pinkpantheroz : Ah, perhaps, KT, but I do!
  • AdLib : KT - I think Karzai is making our withdrawal unavoidable, with all of his insults and conspiracy theories.
  • choicelady : Hey Patsy and Sally - dropped out before you signed in.
  • choicelady : now I can get on! The plan is afoot, KT. We will be out by the end of the year.
  • KillgoreTrout : PPO, Boehner doesn't have that much class.
  • PatsyT : Oh Not Rum Tan or Johnny Walker Red?
  • SallyT : Bohner has a Jim Beam Tan.
  • pinkpantheroz : Adlib,Patsy I call it Glenfiddich brown!
  • AdLib : PPO - Yes, that part I really liked! He nailed it on the ACA.
  • KillgoreTrout : I haven't heard of any concrete plans to get out of Afghanistan. Time will tell.
  • AdLib : Patsy - I call it, "Tequila Yellow".
  • pinkpantheroz : Strong performance about ACA. Sour pusses galore!
  • PatsyT : Bohner had the deepest skin color
  • AdLib : PPO - Yes, I feel it was an opportunity not realized. I did like things here and there but too much rhetoric and not enough nail on the head targets.
  • KillgoreTrout : Boehner kept looking at Obama like he want to choke him to death.
  • PatsyT : Hey AdLib!
  • pinkpantheroz : A lot to absorb, but I feel he soft-peddaled on some contentious issues, so not to inflame the GOP any more than necessary. Still, offering the Congress a palm leaf of inclusion is a good thing. Maybe now they'll actually DO something!
  • AdLib : Hey Patsy!
  • AdLib : Sorry all about the crash, should be fixed for good now!
  • PatsyT : They need a sourpuss cam ... they kept zooming in on the happy dems but what werer those sourpuss repubs doing?
  • pinkpantheroz : Well, A fairly long speech, leaning mostly towards domestic matters, of course. A challenge to raise the minimum wage.
  • PatsyT : Hey I did not see Uncle Suger anywhere
  • pinkpantheroz : Are we back?
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad....Bam.....in deed....Lady Lindsey is coming down with a case of the vapors....where are those smelling thoughts.
  • choicelady : Prozac AdLib? I'm thinking MUCH stronger stuff. They get it from Rush.
  • AdLib : Kes - Great eyes! I just saw a mouth twitch on Boehner!
  • kesmarn : You betcha,CL!
  • choicelady : kes - do we have to chug when you count the lip licks?
  • funksands : I have my own personal beef about asthma meds. Grrrrrr
  • AdLib : Bam! Bam! Bam! Repubs are reaching for their Prozac.
  • choicelady : I never loved a president ,even JFK, before. LOVE this president!!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : CL....I continue to say that my two years working for his election were the best two years spent in my older adult life.
  • pinkpantheroz : Good dig about the affordability of asthma meds.
  • kesmarn : One lip=lick from Boehner...and counting.
  • escribacat : CL -- me too.
  • choicelady : I love this president.
  • AdLib : Karzai is drinking shots every time "war" is mentioned.
  • funksands : Impressed. That's how you period the end of a sentence.
  • AdLib : Oh yeah, ending a 12 year war, who forgot about that?
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Is that Karzai I see with a red scarf
  • SallyT : Yes Murph, I have those prior and I will have those after.
  • funksands : Afghanistan BOOM
  • kesmarn : War over, Obamacare working -- good start!
  • escribacat : Hi there funk!
  • choicelady : Go ACA!!!
  • funksands : Hey e-cat!
  • Nirek : Hi Sally
  • KillgoreTrout : Hey Sally!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Sally Hi....cartoon comments coming
  • escribacat : Hi Sally
  • SallyT : Hello everybody!
  • AdLib : Murph - Best way to start! He gets the credit or blame for The State of The Union.
  • funksands : Menendez looks preoccupied ;-)
  • AdLib : Funk - You win!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : He's starting with the Good News...smart...
  • funksands : Hi Sally!
  • choicelady : Hi Sally!
  • AdLib : Hey Sally!
  • funksands : Ad: Trick question. All of them
  • kesmarn : Hey, Sally!
  • AdLib : Okay, who's the most insincere Repub applauding???
  • choicelady : AdLib - oh boy yes. All that lip licking will be his 'tell'.
  • SallyT : The Prez was commenting to Boner about his tie.
  • Nirek : Short intro by Bonehead
  • funksands : Very genuine
  • AdLib : Keep an eye on Boehner, he's going to start Jonesing for a Jack Daniels in about 15 minutes.
  • choicelady : funk - fear that IS the world we live in.
  • funksands : I wonder how long it took to dust down Congress before the speech? Probably hours.
  • choicelady : funk - are you speaking of the president or yourself?
  • AdLib : Hey Funk! Zombie child indeed! Rise!!!
  • choicelady : AdLib - that must be it. Desperation. He IS utterly irrelevant.
  • funksands : Hooray! Let the zombie child of Eugene Debbs and FDR RISE!!!!
  • choicelady : es - they know your attention is not on THEM. No fools they.
  • AdLib : CL - Maybe Cantor saw a roach motel in the back and got scared he'd never make it out to the speech.
  • escribacat : Greyhounds suddenly demanding treat! Don't they know????
  • choicelady : Did you notice Cantor came in FIRST? Little worm.
  • AdLib : Could be amusing if we could hear on a live mike what all the people Dems are saying to Obama as he walks in.
  • escribacat : Kes -- yes, it's strange.
  • Nirek : Yes CL but they should not get so much view time.
  • choicelady : es - Biden is grumpy because he stands with Boehner.
  • escribacat : Obama still looks so relaxes.
  • AdLib : Mr. President!!!
  • AdLib : Boehner looks thirsty.
  • escribacat : Bonie still has a good tan.
  • choicelady : Nirek - the four responses are symptoms of the GOP divisions. That's annoying as hell but GREAT to know.
  • escribacat : Uh OH. Joe Biden looks grumpy
  • pinkpantheroz : They reckon here he will soft touch a lot of pocket book items, but may pull the trigger with executive orders on some key items.
  • kesmarn : I just watched the "Amish Experience." It was good, but shouldn't pre-empt the Prez!
  • AdLib : Hey PPO! There's a live video feed above of the speech, don't know if it's blacked out internationally but wirth a try to avoid the blather on cable news.
  • choicelady : es - LOL!!! Yes it is. Just not tonight.
  • Nirek : They should only get one responce
  • choicelady : AdLib - if you shoved Ted into a bag of manure, who'd notice?
  • escribacat : My PBS is "The Amish American Experience." Very important.
  • AdLib : Escrib - Oh yeah, I'd pull my back restraining from shoving Ted Cruz's head into a bag of manure.
  • escribacat : Yeah, that's weird
  • kesmarn : Really, e'cat? Not on PBS...shame on them!
  • choicelady : es - PBS NOT covering it? Yikes.
  • choicelady : PPO - oh do give us the non US interpretations.
  • escribacat : My PBS isn't covering it.
  • Nirek : Was CBS but switched to MSNBC
  • pinkpantheroz : I'm watching ABC Australia, showing it live, but with dumb Aussie commentators!
  • choicelady : Murph - I heard five. Maybe not.
  • escribacat : What? FOUR????
  • kesmarn : I'm on PBS here.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Are there really 4 GOP responses tonight? Really?
  • choicelady : AdLib - I'd love to see them whomp on Paul with anything at all!
  • escribacat : Adlib -- how about Ted Cruz? I would have strangled him many months ago.
  • Steve1 : MSNBC
  • AdLib : escrib - I'd go gray just having to attend a House hearing and holding back from not hitting Rand Paul with a croquet mallet.
  • escribacat : I'm on CNN, but John King is annoying.
  • MurphTheSurf3 : What commentary programs are you all watching? I am on MSNBC
  • escribacat : Ted the slug UGH
  • choicelady : Hey - Tom Perez Sec'y of Labor - met him once when he was at DOJ!
  • kesmarn : Hey AdLib! Looking forward to this address.
  • Steve1 : Secretary Munoz is the designated successor tonight.
  • escribacat : Pink -- where are you??
  • KillgoreTrout : And Pina Coladas, with the little straw hats?
  • pinkpantheroz : Sitting in bright sunlight here waiting for the fireworks!
  • choicelady : Hi Murph! Thank you for the words. Never remember them.
  • AdLib : Evening Kes!
  • AdLib : Hey Murph! For Repubs, I think "Hail" means something very different.
  • kesmarn : Break out the sunscreen, Homie!
  • Nirek : Looking forward to the POTUS
  • KillgoreTrout : kes, it's a balmy 3 degrees here.
  • kesmarn : Hey KT, I think we made it all the way up to zero today!
  • MurphTheSurf3 : Hail to the Chief we have chosen for the nation, Hail to the Chief! We salute him, one and all. Hail to the Chief, as we pledge cooperation In proud fulfillment of a great, noble call. Yours is the aim to make this grand country grander, This you will do, that's our strong, firm belief. Hail to the one we selected as commander, Hail to the President! Hail to the Chief! Those are the real words.
  • escribacat : I'd go grey if I had to try to "fix" the mess between Israel and Palestine too.
  • KillgoreTrout : Hey Homie!
  • AdLib : escrib - SoS gig really ages people, all that non-stop pressure and travel.
  • choicelady : I have a great friend who is at DOL and staffed Perez to a meeting with the President last week. I am so envious!
  • Nirek : I agree that the First Lady is awesome.
  • kesmarn : Ah! Success at last. The intertube gremlins were giving me fits trying to get to the live chat. Michelle Bachmann must be somewhere near, creating an intellectual black hole.
  • escribacat : Kerry seems a lot greyer.
  • KillgoreTrout : Que pasa Nirek?
  • AdLib : Hey Nirek! Great to see you here!
  • choicelady : Hey Nirek!
  • choicelady : Yes - LOVE our FLOTUS!
  • escribacat : Hello Nirek
  • Nirek : Hi folks
  • escribacat : Love Michelle!
  • choicelady : Steve - where are you geographically if you don't mind saying?
  • AdLib : Ah...Michelle!
  • escribacat : CL -- yes, it's a dessert climate here and getting hotter every year. At least it seems that way to me.
  • choicelady : es - oh boy - just heard they're as dry as we are in Sacramento. NOT fun. It's so dry here my nose bleeds. I'm not a fan of humidity but...
  • KillgoreTrout : I'm still thinking about a move to Portland, OR.
  • AdLib : One minute! Just a reminder, the live feed is above!
  • escribacat : CL, I'm in Colorado now.
  • escribacat : Adlib, he's a commentator for Fox, of course.
  • escribacat : CL -- I hope so. He certainly should have his pension revoked and should be interrogated.
  • choicelady : es - I'm sorry I've forgotten where you now are?
  • escribacat : KT -- no kidding. I am tired of the heat, drought, forest fires.
  • choicelady : es = Ohhhhhh yesssss. I think he's gonna get a little vist from the Secret Service as the FL lunatic did.
  • AdLib : Escrib - No, haven't seen that story! An ex-General? Otherwise, there's a courtmartial in someone's future.
  • KillgoreTrout : Well, e, there will be no droughts there.
  • escribacat : And I'm e-cat
  • Steve1 : oh wow! this room is already cool
  • choicelady : Steve - for easy use, everyone calls me CL.
  • Steve1 : thanks escribacat
  • escribacat : Did you see the story about the loony general who said he would lead a coup against the president?
  • Steve1 : hello choicelady!
  • choicelady : es - that's fantastic! I do love the area so much!
  • Steve1 : hey ADlib! Thanks!
  • KillgoreTrout : Hey Steve, welcome.
  • AdLib : Two minutes!
  • escribacat : Welcome Steve
  • AdLib : Hey Steve1! Welcome!
  • escribacat : I'll be in the Olympic Rain Shadow so there's not too much rain. KT -- I am moving to Pacific NW!! Olympic PEninsula.
  • choicelady : Hi Steve! Welcome - lovely to have you here!
  • Steve1 : Hello Everyone. I am a first timer!
  • choicelady : es- That's exactly what it looks like! Will you be on the west side on the ocean or east on the Bay? Or places I don't know! YET!
  • KillgoreTrout : E'cat where are you talking about?
  • AdLib : escrib - The whales down here like to jog down the shore but they're so slow and it's hard to get past them.
  • escribacat : I know, CL. The woods look like hobbit land there.
  • choicelady : es - that's superb news! That's a beautiful area, lucky you!
  • escribacat : Yes, I'm excited. Big Mountains, whales, ocean, bike trails, small town, lavendar farms. Wow.
  • AdLib : Escrib - That's coming up pretty quick! How fun though!
  • escribacat : Sometime in March. Gotta go and find a house first in a couple weeks.
  • AdLib : Escrib - Really? When's the big move?
  • escribacat : Pretty good, Adlib! I am getting ready to move to the Olympic Peninsula! Back to the coast for me. Hooray! I'm tired of the heat here.
  • AdLib : Hey Escrib! Howa are you?
  • AdLib : CL - The hypocrisy is that the same people attack Repubs for being the party of "NO!" and "No compromise!"... yet if there is any compromises, even one that doesn't really cause any problems, they howl.
  • escribacat : You too, CL!
  • choicelady : HI es - WONDERFUL to see you!
  • choicelady : AdLib - we're supposed to get rain here, snow in mountains tomorrow through Thursday, maybe Friday. We're hoping!
  • escribacat : Howdy folks!
  • choicelady : AdLib - that kind of ideological insanity is killing the progressive side. Some got more than others and now evening things out is BAD when the sole alternative is major cuts for everyone? So we will 'kill the bill' just like the RIGHT? Grrrr.
  • AdLib : CL - Nope, no rain on track here. We had a few drizzles on the weekend but that's it. Dry as a bone in LA.
  • AdLib : CL - I completely understand! As I commented on your post, it's just an absolutist thing for the emoprogs, ANY reduction in funding is evil...even if it doesn't take one person off the program or reduce their benefits.
  • choicelady : KT - Yes, I was talking to AdLib. You have more than your fair share of the frozen stuff! I keep in touch with folks in OH - yikes. That's COLD!
  • KillgoreTrout : It's only3 degrees F here, so I don't expect any rain for a while. Unless you are talking to Ad.
  • choicelady : BTW - who are the Four Dwarfs? Last I read, FIVE GOP responses are planned - unless one is the Wicked Witch?
  • AdLib : Hey KT! Experts do say bouncing is the best exercise.
  • choicelady : Going bonkers over the Left response to the GREAT food stamp outcome as I wrote earlier, but otherwise, pretty fine. Are you all expecting any rain there?
  • KillgoreTrout : Hey CL and Ad, I'm bouncing around the net until the speech begins.
  • AdLib : Nice! Doing well CL, and you?
  • choicelady : Hi KT and Beatlex - nice to see you here.
  • choicelady : Howdy, AdLib - popcorn is in the microwave. Hope you're doing well!
  • AdLib : 15 minutes, get the popcorn popping!
  • AdLib : Don't forget to say "hi" or "President Obama and the Four Dwarfs" when you arrive!
  • AdLib : We hope you'll join us tonight for President Obama's State of the Union Address and the live chat we will be hosting simultaneously. Our live chat will begin at 5:30pm PST, half an hour before President Obama's SOTU Address (at 6:00pm PST). Hope to see you here!
