After the past five years of dealing with the Trump Regime, the 1/6 insurrection that continues today, Covid, Climate-Change-caused natural disasters, and a Tiger King sequel, we sure deserve a good year! To celebrate the start of 2022, this weekend's music thread is about beginnings. Songs about things that are new or starting and songs that express hopes and desires for good things you would like to see in 2022 are all on the fresh slate this weekend.
The theme tonight is, like, totally cool...uh...what was I saying...oh yeah! It's like totally Psychedelic, Man! So share the trippy music (it doesn't have to be exactly psychedelic) of past and present but don't Bogart that link. Have to begin with...
To mark how casually humans can change time on a timely schedule, the theme for this weekend's music thread is of course, time. Seconds, hours, years, yesterday, today and tomorrow, if you've got the time, we've got the music!
In this weekend's music thread, we celebrate the art (and not so artful skill) of storytelling. Share songs that tell a story, about people, places or West Point scholarships.
Daylight Savings time has started, Spring is in swing and Easter is a day away. Time keeps on spinning, into the future and that's the theme of this weekend's music thread, time. So share your songs about time or songs about the past, present or future...if you've got the time, that is.
Pick a theme that addresses your thoughts, emotions and hopes for the future, or go with whatever songs that make you feel better and forget, for a short while, the troubles of our times.
Since this week's hot button issue was contraception, we "conceived" a theme for this week's music thread to be about "baby"s and sex.
With graduations going on now, this weekend's music thread is dedicated to grads, songs about school, growing up, moving on and songs offering wisdom about life.
This weekend's music thread is for songs that express or give you good feelings, the happiness that give us hope and comfort even in the most challenging times.
The poor GOP...they've got the "We're Being Humped by Trump" blues. So, in that vein, this weekend's music thread goes out to the GOP because it's all about the blues, blues songs, blues rock and sad songs.

SNL isn't the edgiest, and I hear you when you talk about it's 'punk' roots. And Canada's SCTV came before or was a contemporary. Kids in the Hall was later. Exit 57 in the mid-90s [Colbert, Sedaris, Dinello].

Weekend Music Thread – I’m Still Standing

This week we observed the one-year anniversary of the Trump-led attempt to overthrow our democracy on January 6, 2021. Our nation and our democracy held firm and we're still standing against the Republican Party of Insurrection but we will need to pass voting rights protections to keep standing strong. We can't let down now. So the theme for this weekend's music thread is about standing up, staying strong, and fighting to win against the destructive forces trying to rip democracy out of the majority's hands.
