Every single Republican Senator voted to allow billionaires to continue buying their votes! "Koch Brothers Win Senate Republicans on Thursday blocked a constitutional amendment that would have restored limits on big money in politics and overturned the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens...
It's the first day of the GOP controlled Congress and the entire Republican Party is showing off who's in charge around this country. That is, who's in charge of bribery, racism and corruption.
In Texas we have a Republican Governor who has deregulated a lot of the businesses and cut government agencies that are needed. Deregulation is one of their top talking points.
The vast majority of politicians run in whatever direction will get them the most votes. Liberals will pretend to be conservatives on pivotal issues (knowing that their base will still vote for them) to pick up some conservative votes. Conservatives will pretend to be liberals on pivotal issues (knowing that their base will still vote for them) to pick up some liberals votes.
A GOP strategist has declared that the week of the Midterm Elections “was a dark week for Republicans, and for everyone who wants to see America remain the world’s most vibrant, most powerful nation.” What the HELL! Where was he?
Just last November, pundits were saying that Obamacare's troubled rollout doomed it to failure and Chris Christie was so nationally popular, he was the odds on favorite to win the GOP Presidential primary and perhaps the White House.
What do you do now that Republicans won a wave election? Just what Republicans did when Democrats won wave elections in 2008 and 2012. Become intransigent and refuse to work with them because America made clear they want a President who'll block Republicans and represent their values. Easy peasy!
The Republican tension between satisfying the base and appealing to the entire electorate will be made significantly worse if the party controls both houses of Congress. The Republicans will get almost none of the practical things they want, and their political headaches will be multiplied.
Unfortunately, Republicans often ONLY focus on what's happening at their own breakfast table, and seem to be incapable to concentrate on any kind of injustice, as soon as it's their NEIGHBOR, rather than a family member, who's suffering from it.
I knew things were going to go badly in NY. I am no spring chicken, and the vast majority of voters were older than me (we're trending into the 60-90 year old range).
