Thanksgiving is a day when we celebrate the arrival of immigrants in America who lived in desperation and relied on the compassion and generosity of Americans for survival, becoming accepted as friends and neighbors.. Or as Republicans refer to it, an invasion of potential threats to our nation and economy who wrongly received unconstitutional amnesty.

It is a tradition in my family to go around the Thanksgiving dinner table and ask who covered the dog in hair gel and sculpted her fur into a swear word. After that, we go around the table and share with each other those things in life that each of us are grateful for.

Here at PlanetPOV, we’ve annually celebrated this tradition (the grateful thing, not the hair gel dog thing) and that tradition continues this year with the gracious participation of several prominent people in the world:

WHAT I’M THANKFUL FOR

Vladimir Putin

“I’m thankful for me, men having nipples, The Joseph Goebbels Fan Club, Cossacks, me, mirrors, borders not being visible, and me.

Mitch McConnell

“I’m thankful for the optional nature of chins and morality, slingable mud, naked jacuzzi meetings with The Kochs, Foghorn Leghorn and not being called one word that rhymes with “Mitch”.

Rand Paul

“I’m grateful for short memories, toupees made of sheep’s wool, four letter names, inflatable Ayn Rand dolls and how good crazy looks when standing next to crazier.”

John Boehner

“I’m thankful for manufactured outrage, that saying “no” is free, the double lock on my office door, happy hour, happy day, happy week and the extra-large tin of Altoids.”

Hillary Clinton

“I’m thankful for the Republican Primary system, forced laughs sounding so much like the real thing, Elizabeth Warren’s assurances and Bill’s prescription of Ambien.”

As for me, some of the things that I’m most grateful for are being so lucky as to have Kalima and Kesmarn to work with on running The Planet, all of the remarkable people who contribute their wit, conscience and support at this site, our President Barack Obama’s unfaltering efforts to help the American people no matter what obstacles are thrown in his way and of course my wonderful family.

A happy Thanksgiving to all the folks out there, hope it’s a really enjoyable day for all of you!

It was the dogs AdLib! A very Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all. We are on day three of dogs and (adult) kids sleeping over and NOT fighting. While we’ve gone through many changes these last few years, we are very keen on fun right now-and work. This has been a year of changes for our family. Of the things that have kept me preoccupied, much of it has been keeping our business up and running and that is due to our son and daughter joining the business. While enjoying them here, the pressure to increase the revenue stream also kept us up at night. We have added 2 dogs here, and our daughter has her own (and our son will be adding his own). This made for one of our very best Thanksgivings: 6 dogs, 12 people. Of those, 6 people mid thirties and under and 6 people 58 and over, a very new configuration to have the “young ones” joining us. So no grand kids, but crazy, wonderful any way.
I hope everyone has had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It is one of the wondrous holidays in my mind: eat and share. There’s very little that asks families to get together just to enjoy each without presents or obligations. Thank you for all the effort you all put in to making this work.

I’m sneaking in just under the wire at midnight to wish you and all the Planeteers a very Happy Thanksgiving, AdLib!

See that lady in the Rockwell painting up there at the top? Well, that was me today — except that she is looking way more sexy and glamorous than I am. Especially at the moment. We did have fun though. Even though we had to substitute a long-haired cat for the hair gel game, since we were lacking a dog.

Loved this year’s political “thankfuls.” Especially Putin. He is so much the anti-Obama in every conceivable way that making fun of him never gets old.

Thank you so much for the kind words. You and Kalima are really the heart, soul and brains of the Planet, and I’m so honored that you let me play too. The Planet just gets better and better as the years go by. A truly unique online community. And one that really feels like family.

Happy Thanksgiving to all American Planet members and readers. Although we don’t celebrate this day in any of the three countries I have lived in and am living in now, I still have many things to be thankful for.

I’m thankful to what is left of my scattered family. I’m thankful to my friends old and new for putting up with me and not deciding to dump me.

I’m thankful to AdLib and kesmarn for making coming to work here so much fun and for their endless support when I get lost.

I’m thankful for our wonderful members who make The Planet such an interesting, passionate and welcoming place to be.

I’m thankful to your President for being the man he is, all he has done and tries to do to make ordinary American lives better.

Last but not least, I’m thankful to my husband for seeing me through the good times and the bad while sharing my joy and giving me his shoulder to lean on when times are bad. Thank you Darling!

I suppose by now most of you are stuffed and that “crazy uncle” is finally fast asleep in the bathtub, so take care, give the chef a kiss and a hand with the clearing up, then enjoy the rest of the day.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING PLANETEERS!!!

Hey, leave that poor doggie alone!!

Thanks for doing this every year, AdLib.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too Adlib and Planeteers! I just returned home from a beautiful hike in a misty rainforest. It truly doesn’t get any better than that.

I am thankful for my daughter and son-in-law, who, this coming April, will make me the grandfather of twins…

Brodie, do you have any grand children yet? They are wonderful. I spent all morning with my wife, son, daughter, son in law, and four grandkids! Got some great memories and lots of love and hugs.
You are in for a treat with twins, my friend. Enjoy them.

These will be the first, my friend. I was joking with my daughter, and told her to hold out until may 10 — my birthday…

What a wonderful you, having four wonderful babies. Makes all of the silliness in the world less daunting — gives me someone to fight for…

Brodie, may you be as blessed by your grandchildren as I am by mine. They range from 15 , 11, 10, and 3 years of age. 3 girls (beauties), and a wonderful boy ( he has taken an interest in history) and I love them all so much.

Best to you and happy Thanksgiving.
