• AdLib : Thanks Funk! Night!

  • funksands : Sorry I have been very distracted by a kiddo who won’t go to sleep… You have a good one too Ad.

  • AdLib : Well Funk, looks like it’s about that time to close the Vox bar for the night. Hope you and the family are doing great! Have a great weekend!

  • AdLib : Sounds great, CL. BTW, was it a pickpocket who stole Hubby’s wallet?

  • AdLib : The Pres abides.

  • choicelady : Thank you, AdLib – we’re slowly getting his ID back. I will contact Steinberg’s person (why can I NOT remember her name?) after the 15th when session is over. She and I have agreed to do that. I will keep you posted!

  • AdLib : Funk – We did discuss Syria, most agree that the vote will go against Obama’s resolution for an attack and Obama will abide by the vote.

  • AdLib : Sorry to hear that, CL! Get some sleep and let me know when we can start HOPE-ing! Rest well and best to hubby1

  • AdLib : Funk – Steele does strike me as a nerdy guy who would be looked as a worthless fool in the Dem party but as one of those rare things in the GOP called “blacks”, he stood out as every Repubs example of how black people can be Repubs. He has got to know how he was used and abused by the GOP solely exploiting him for his skin color. But denial runs deep in Repubs, they find ways of avoiding a view of realities that upset them.

  • choicelady : funk and AdLib – I hate to abandon you, but I’m absolutely crashing. Too much stress at work and last week during the MOW in DC. My husband got his wallet stolen, and picking up the pieces of his ID has been very stressful. So I’m heading to bed to try to revive some life in my old self. Be well!

  • funksands : Have you guys discussed Syria tonight? I’m feeling Syria-ed out until I see the vote and hear from the UN inspectors.

  • choicelady : AdLib – those pretenses are just totally embarrassing. TOTALLY.

  • AdLib : CL – I loved Steele when he tried to sound and act “urban” as RNC Chairman, it was like an SNL bit, Steele has so little in common with most black people, he thought just acting urban would do the trick. It was no different than Romney in 2008 singing, “Who let the dogs out?” with a totally bewildered group of black people.

  • choicelady : funk – that’s a good observation about Steele.

  • choicelady : AdLib – they myth of the ‘rugged individualist’ just won’t die with too many people.

  • funksands : Ad, I bet Michael “steels” himself with a stiff scotch every morning. The reason he sucks worse than tools like Keyes is that he knows better, isn’t insane and still aligns himself with the Grand Old Clown Car.

  • AdLib : CL – There is a theory that some people really want to be manipulated, they really want someone to tell them how to think and what opinions to have. The ones who pander to them the best, get their blind loyalty. This is the core of the GOP, they seem completely disassociaqted from how the GOP policies would destroy their lives. No SNAP, no HC, no SS, no Medicare, most of these people would just die yet they vote for snuffing themselves out.

  • choicelady : Is Reince Preibus real or a Disney Animitronic?

  • choicelady : AdLib – but but but – Steel is BLACK. Can’t have THAT.

  • AdLib : When Michael Steele became an MSNBC pundit I thought, “Really, putting a moronic hack like him on as legit?” Little did I know that the BaggerGOP would become so insane, Steele would look almost rational in comparison. What is ridiculous is when Steele decides he’s going to push the idiotic party line on this or that issue, he just makes no sense. And keep in mind what the GOP did with their historic first black RNC Chairman…they immediately ditched him when his first term was up despite the GOP winning big with him in place in 2010.

  • choicelady : AdLib – I know. I am still into head shaking wondering how so many people can be so totally flim flammed so often.

  • AdLib : The GOP has Log Cabin Republicans despite their anti-gay marriage platform. They have Latinos like Ted Cruz who oppose immigration reform and fair treatment for Latinos. They have rural folks supporting them while they push plans to take away the government money those folks rely on. What does any difference matter when you’re a Repub, they’re all the same lousy product no matter the wrapper they come in.

  • choicelady : funk – West could be their Secretary of Morality.

  • choicelady : funk – would there not be a duel to the death over who leads the Cain-Keyes ticket? HUGE egoes there.

  • funksands : I’ll say!

  • choicelady : funk – lack of facts makes life sooooo much easier!

  • funksands : ….Ticket

  • choicelady : AdLib – Oy. What a team that would be. Barf.

  • funksands : The “No Facts Batshit”

  • AdLib : Funk – Cain-Keyes 2016!

  • choicelady : AdLib – nope. It’s just fun to yank their chains.’

  • funksands : ;-)

  • AdLib : CL – You expected a troll to provide a logical explanation? You are a true optimist!

  • choicelady : funk – surely you jest…?????

  • funksands : I think Alan Keyes would have made a fine 1st black President…

  • choicelady : I keep asking the trolls who say Black people vote for ONLY other Black people why then they did not support West and Cain – and the answer is that they vote for people who support them. Oh shock and awe!!! So voting for a woman just because she’s a woman is the same thing. Bad policies are BAD never mind whose.

  • AdLib : Night Murph! Have a great weekend!

  • funksands : Night Murph!

  • AdLib : Murph – MSNBC was heralding Quinn months ago as the heir apparent to be mayor, celebrating her for being the first gar mayor of NY. But if her policies are the same as Bloomberg, why does that matter? It’s like electing Herman Cain as President and celebrating him for being the first black President. It’s one thing to be the first but another thing to be someone who should be celebrated because of their acumen. This is why Obama will be a true historic figure throughout US history.

  • choicelady : Murph – yup – it’s later there than here, so get rest. I won’t be here next week (heading to a wedding that night) but week after. Be well!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Well folks…time has come….I am off to bed….Nite all.

  • choicelady : AL – “exposed”. Sigh.

  • AdLib : CL – That poll is music to my ears!

  • choicelady : AdLib – “esposed” being the operative word…

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Quinn was on Rachel last week and did not do well.

  • AdLib : Murph – Actually, I think Weiner has exposed himself for being completely hollow, there’s nothing there except a neurotic, attention addict.

  • choicelady : AdLib – latest NY poll – De Blasio has 43%.

  • funksands : I’m really looking forward to it.

  • AdLib : CL – Agreed! I really hope he gets 40% or more and doesn’t have to go into a runoff…especia lly after that Bloomberg clone, Christine Quinn.

  • choicelady : funk – enjoy!!! NY is a great and wonderful city.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad…Hillary saw something of value in Bill. I wonder if Huma sees anything in anthony

  • funksands : I get to spend 5 days in New York in a couple weeks. Haven’t been there since I was a teenager

  • choicelady : AdLib – I think it looks excellent for De Blasio!

  • AdLib : Funk – The primary is next week, on the 10th! Go De Blasio!

  • choicelady : AdLib – I do not care what Huma decides. That’s between them. I do care what VOTERS decide – that impacts us. I think Weiner is in so much trouble he’s not even worth discussing save as light humor.

  • funksands : When is the primary in NYC?

  • AdLib : Murph – I think you’re onto something there…but Huma may feel that the Hillary way of staying with your troublemaking husband is the way to go.

  • choicelady : AdLib – yes, De Blasio looks very solid and is enough ahead to maybe beat a run off. Weiner is nowhere I the game.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : funk good on ya!

  • choicelady : Murph – when I was IN Spain last year, I learned so much about that. They have not forgotten. We need to learn.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad….I do hope you are correct….I do believe that Mencken named an American reality and that is the minefield.

  • AdLib : CL – And De Blasio doing so well is very exciting. Hard to believe it’s been decades since a competent Progressive (Dinkins aside) has been Mayor of NY.

  • choicelady : funk – that is GREAT news!

  • funksands : $200 a month that is.

  • choicelady : Murph and AdLib – my faith organization is out there telling the truth – and it is boggling people’s minds at how GOOD the health care IS.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : choice- Spain 1936. absolutely. the Franco coalition.

  • funksands : Murph, a silver level plan in Washington State is $200 less than my group insurance policy I have right now. As of October 1st, me an my son are free men.

  • choicelady : Murph. For real. My jaw is on the ground. I’m really scared at the convergences of faux Left, Libertarians, fascists. That is NOT cool. It’s Spain 1936.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad Lib When will Weiner’s wife say bye-bye…counti ng down 10-9-8-7……

  • AdLib : Murph – I think most people will have similar experiences of lower premiums, no pre-existing coverage rejections, no maximum coverage, kids covered till they’re almost 30. One thing we know for sure is that the fear mongering over death panels, doctor shortages, full time jobs disappearing, etc. will all be proven as the lies they are.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : choice – so that is for real….good god y’all!

  • choicelady : AdLib – Weiner is So behind in the polls I don’t think we have any worries. He has 7%. That’s not even laughable. It’s pathetic.

  • funksands : Voting is mandatory in Australia and the campaign season only lasts a couple of months. Very civlized.

  • choicelady : Murph – I really want to know how EmoProgs can adore him after that. All these guys on the Libertarian Left are starting to show their true selves. Snowden and GG adoring homophobic, anti-right Russia and China. Assange an open fascist – so where’s the love now?

  • MurphTheSurf3 : funk….yes….I hope that this is everyone’s experience.

  • AdLib : CL – The guy was a racist asshole but Weiner is supposed to be a politician, a diplomat…and if he can’t handle that asshole, he’s going to handle Wall Street?

  • funksands : Murph, that is really awesome news and and even better experience!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice….really re. Assange….all things are possible.

  • choicelady : funk – I am no longer surprised. Assange just joined the Australia First fascist party, so all bets are off.

  • funksands : Thanks Murph, I’ll go look. Hi Ad!

  • funksands : (speaking of good on ya)

  • choicelady : AdLib – it was not ALL Weiner’s fault, but yeah – could he not have controlled himself? Oh wait. What AM I saying?

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Hey funk….a message for you….if you look at the beginning of conversation tonight you will find a post from me regarding ACA and an experience in Missouri….I think you will like it.

  • funksands : Australia in the middle of likely electing Rick Perry to Prime Minister. Never thought I’d see the day.

  • AdLib : Hey Funk!

  • AdLib : CL – I mean, getting into an angry shouting match in a deli on Rosh Hashanah? You can’t write satire any more ridiculous than that!

  • choicelady : Ahhh funk – modesty always. Good on ya.

  • funksands : Good to be seen.

  • choicelady : Murph – LOL!!! He proved that even without the photos!

  • choicelady : FUNK”!!! Great to see you!

  • funksands : Hello all

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice and Ad…Wiener has certainly shown that really is a big dick!

  • choicelady : Murph – the net is not coming out right no matter what. I hope you get my point?

  • choicelady : AdLib – my thought after the dust up with Weiner in the Jewish deli that ‘If ONLY he’d stuck to photographing strudel!!!”

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice I will look at that.

  • choicelady : AdLib – LOL

  • choicelady : Murph – thepeoplesview.n et. I am typing poorly tonight.

  • AdLib : CL – I think many Dems figured out how Grayson is an inauthentic grandstanding jerk in the Anthony Weiner mold. And I do mean mold, as in slimy.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice…for instance…what pacts….he was the number one target in 2010 by the GOP Congressional Elections Committee.

  • choicelady : Murph – take a look at yesterday’s story on Grayson on thepeoplesview.n et. It’s pretty horrifying.

  • choicelady : Murph – I have no problem with people for whom military action is abhorrent. But he is spouting drivel and no principles at all.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice- I would love to get more insight from you re. Grayson.

  • AdLib : Night Sabreen!

  • choicelady : Murph – he won’t pay attention. He has a cadre of followers, and it’s all ‘proof’ he’s doing the right thing. Though in my mind it’s the Right-wing thing! He’s made pacts with the GOP which is beyond awful of him. Fifth Columnist. I JUST learned he is one of the richest men in Congress, too. Yuck.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice- good distinction. I know Alan. I am disappointed in him…deeply so and now he knows it.

  • choicelady : Murph – I’d say the Left is too ideological not idealistic. Grayson’s incredibly evil screed last night was purely political not idealistic. And to think I gave him MONEY!!!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice…exactly ….the Left does piss me off….too idealistic for its own good.

  • choicelady : Good night, Sabreen! Sleep well!

  • choicelady : Murph – the GOP did not win 2010. The progressives LOST 2010. We are all paying the price.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Bye Sabreen.

  • Sabreen60 : Well folks I’m all I’ve got to run. Take care.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice- all I have do is recall the midterm election of 2010. It has cost us dearly.

  • choicelady : Murph – you cannot make people be wise. You cannot even make them be adult. They are who they are.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad I have a sister in Houston…a Republican and she is constantly fuming about odd and even watering days….or more and more commonly, outdoor water bans.

  • choicelady : Sabreen – I’m right there with you on the exercise.

  • choicelady : AdLib – maybe Gore’s loss and Richards’ defeat were essential to our remembering that we have to stay ACTIVE in policy and democracy. We on the leftish side got complacent esp. under Clinton. Now we know we have to WORK for what we want.

  • Sabreen60 : My doctor even told me that if I didn’t want to end up in a wheelchair I had to keep moving. My cardiologist said my heart was a little stiff and the only thing to do was exercise more. So I exercise more. Can’t say I like it, but I sure feel better when I do.

  • AdLib : Murph – Wow…like imagining what would have happened if Gore hadn’t had the Presidency stolen from him. Ann Richards was brilliant and could have left such a huge legacy and quality of life for TX. Instead, they will dry up and blow away in the projected drought that will continue without an end in sight…thanks to Climate Change that doesn’t exist.

  • choicelady : Murph – that is absolutely true. You have to ‘move it or lose it’ and I know it matters.

  • choicelady : Sabreen – I know “Sisterlocks” – and yes, KEEP MOVING! I am very flexible even in my dotage because I sit with my legs up, squat, stand up no hands, and KEEP MOVING. It matters.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : AB- when I cannot exercise I feel like I am atrophying.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : sab….staying young is an act of will.

  • AdLib : AB – That’s tough, being immobilized like that.

  • Sabreen60 : Nite Kes!

  • choicelady : Sabreen – I know ‘

  • choicelady : kes – do keep taking care of yourself. Good to see you, and sleep well!

  • Sabreen60 : I color my hair – have been for years – will continue until I can no longer lift my arms up. Then I’ll have to pay someone to do it. I have “Sisterlocks”. Use your google if you want to know what they look like. My hair is very thick and it’s reddish brown. I’m still spinning and going to kick boxing. If I stop moving, I’ll probably have to start crawling. Some people don’t seem to need exercise. But I have to do it or I get stiff and hurt.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : choice- well given how I actually look,it’s a step up

  • kesmarn : G’night, Frennie! I think I’d better call it a day while it’s still Friday as well. I’ll read the rest of the story in the morning. Have a great weekend, y’all!

  • choicelady : Murph – now I won’t ever be able to think of you without buck teeth rabbit-wise. Damn.

  • choicelady : Oh Murph – that’s HORRIBLE!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : By AB and thanks….crusad er rabbit, that’sme.

  • choicelady : AB – sweet dreams! Good seeing you if for only a bit.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad Lib….years ago Ann Richards got the Texas Assembly to fund a plan to build 15 desalinization plants….then Bush became governor and that money went into tax breaks…that eventually became Perry’s Texas Enterprise fund that bribes companies to leave one state and come to Texas….Now there are water shortages all over the state.

  • AlphaBitch : Okay. I’m out. Love you all. Murph, keep it up. I’m so proud of you!

  • choicelady : AB – injury is the single largest reason for weight gain. I’m SO sorry that happened to you!

  • AlphaBitch : Of course cake is good! If it was Papa Douche Pizza, it’d be no problem!

  • choicelady : AB – cake is good. Marie Antoinette said so.

  • AlphaBitch : Actually, I had a severe back injury and packed on pounds. That was easy. Losing them is like losing the guy who didn’t want you to get away. Yikes!

  • AlphaBitch : Me too, Ad. I told one friend I was pissed as shit. I went to sleep one night and woke up to find I must have had a reverse liposuction done!

  • AlphaBitch : WHA??? Li’l Lib has been here??? I’m but 3 hours away!! Next time, call and we’ll pop over. Although I think Houston is really in LA.

  • kesmarn : I’m more in the Hillary Clinton department on looks; she and I dye our hair the same color at least.

  • AdLib : AB – Now that’s a morphing image I’m having trouble imagining.

  • AlphaBitch : I’m working to get the lard off and the Ted face slimmed down again. It’s hard because I have hurt my knee and am having pain and can’t walk. So I eat cake.

  • AdLib : AB – Li’l Lib has been to Houston several times to visit family but not San Antonio. She likes TX…but knows Rick Perry is a weiner.

  • choicelady : AB – LOL!!!

  • choicelady : kes – yup. CA got your high speed rail dollars. Thank you!

  • AlphaBitch : You are lucky, CL. I look(ed) like Barbra Streisand when I was young and she was in Funny Girl. Then one day I woke up and looked like Ted Kennedy.

  • kesmarn : There was stimulus money that was offered to Ohio for high-speed rail, but of course our idiot governor refused it.

  • choicelady : AB – I look like Linda Rondstat but with naturally gray not dark hair.

  • AlphaBitch : C’mon. ChicaLib needs to see the Alamo. I can farm out my last AFG anytime I have guests; all the former host families are willing to take him for a week or two. Don’t plan on staying more than that though…

  • AdLib : AB – Hope you include the Adlibs on your trip through CA!

  • choicelady : AdLib – the fact the US has allowed its infrastructure to crumble is appalling.

  • AlphaBitch : CL: Emmylou Harris is the patron saint of all gray haired ladies! I am like my mom. I’m 61 and have about 50 gray hairs. I keep waiting because I know I can rock the look.

  • AdLib : AB – Well, if we can’t drive to you on paved roads, we’ll have to resort to the TX Repubs’ vision of the future of transportation, covered wagons.

  • choicelady : AB – you damned well BETTER stop here next year!

  • choicelady : AB – LOL!! I decided to cut my hair and ‘stop dying it gray’ because I was beginning to look like Paula Deene, and that was NOT a good place to go these days!

  • AdLib : Murph – The idea that in the 21st Century, while China is building supertrains, US states are grinding up existing roads because there’s not enough to maintain them…project that out 50 years and tell me where the US and China are then.

  • kesmarn : “Deep in the Heart of Taxes,” Murph?

  • AlphaBitch : Game on CL. And yes, we’ll get together next summer when we return to the Pacific coast. Usually drive up via WY/MT and back OR/CA/AZ (where I don’t stop) and NM.

  • kesmarn : c’lady I guess that’s actually true too, about the vines!

  • AlphaBitch : Ad – yep. That’s why everyone better come see me now.

  • choicelady : AB – bet you can’t out hag me!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad Lib…I hear there is this really weird idea out there where companies that benefit from infrastructure can actually help support it…..not what’s that called…sorta sounds like Texas but that’s not it……hmmmmmm

  • choicelady : kes – that is a lovely sentiment about vines and applicable to those of us who tough it out in hostile territory!

  • kesmarn : As for the Prez’s looks: if he looked perky, they’d describe it as “giddy” or “manic.” No matter what he does,or even how he looks, they have to be critical.

  • AlphaBitch : No way, CL. I can out-hag you any day of the week!!!

  • choicelady : AB – I look hagged out ALL the time!

  • choicelady : AB – progressive Texans are my fave people. don’t forget Hightower.

  • AlphaBitch : I look hagged out right now, and I’m not even faced with the BS Obama has on his plate!

  • AdLib : AB – Yep, know about TX grinding their roads into gravel because they don’t have the money for upkeep and draining all the potable water out of small towns to let frackers use it up and pollute it. In 20 years, TX will be a state-shaped drought-ridden toxic dump.

  • kesmarn : Well, Frennie, they say that vines in the toughest soil grow the sweetest grapes.

  • choicelady : AdLib – I thought Obama looked “serious” not exhausted. What a load of bullpucky that characterization is!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad I have the actual e mail address of Rachel Maddow and I use it every now and then. I used it today for this one…

  • AlphaBitch : Oh kes. It’s what makes us tough. Look at Wendy Davis. And Julian Castro. And the former Ann Richards and Molly Ivins.

  • choicelady : kes – you have identified the horrors of Beck in TX perfectly!

  • choicelady : Murph – I will go back and pick up your ACA thread, thank you. Just had dinner with one of our new Certified Educators – she is Vietnamese and an absolute delight. That’s why I’m late to the Vox table.

  • kesmarn : Oh poor TX! That’s all they needed. Glenn Beck. That’s like a hurricane right after a tornado.

  • AlphaBitch : Oh yeah, Choice. he’s building a paradise near – where else? – Dallas.

  • AdLib : Murph – That is the perfect illustration of how corrupt the corporate MSM is, they try to polarize and charge everything so they see a serious looking Obama and he’s “exhausted, deflated, defeated” while AJA reports facts, he looked “serious”. Hope folks who are even fans of MSNBC recognize that it is a manipulative corporate business that puts profits above responsibility.

  • AlphaBitch : CL: Not to quibble, but I so hate to fly. I’ll walk across the border in my Luccheses. .

  • choicelady : AB – I did NOT know Glenn Beck had made it to Texasstan. Figures.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice- Hi….wanted you to know that I posted something earlier here about ACA/ObamaCare which I think you might value….near the beginning of the night.

  • kesmarn : That will make the chillens double-refugees, but well worth it.

  • choicelady : AdLib – hey right back atcha!

  • AlphaBitch : They think with all their money from fracking they won’t need you. However, we are now having to put gravel down because we can’t pave the roads the fracking trucks are driving on. How’s that for irony??? We can’t ask them to pay for what they destroy – HELL to the NO – but we can pay the tab for a whole government? Remember, Glenn Beck lives in N. Texas too.

  • choicelady : kes – we will have major refugee status for AB, Blov, Chillens and anyone else with smarts.

  • choicelady : Sabreen – So were YOU. I have no firm position yet on what we should do, but I’m pretty sick of the Graysons of the world. Thank you for all the great stuff you were writing!

  • kesmarn : Hey, c’lady! We have to airlift AB and the Blov and chillens out of TX before they secede, though!

  • choicelady : AdLib – I am fine with TX seceding – and Jefferson State and everyone who wants out. But they have to give up ALL the federal and state money, too. Hey – you don’t LIKE us? You’re on your own…

  • Sabreen60 : CL! You were kicking butt over on TPV.

  • kesmarn : Deal, Frennie! And after enough Margaritas I won’t care what country I’m in. And yeppers, AdLib, that was the AG comment I was making reference to!

  • AlphaBitch : Cnoice! Can I stay 10 more minutes???

  • AdLib : Hey CL!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Sabreen….my read as well.

  • AlphaBitch : Oh Ad, they do that about every 20 years. Last nut jobs holed up in Ft. Davis. Idiots.

  • choicelady : Hi everybody – hope you’re OK. Gather I just missed glenn, too bad.

  • AlphaBitch : Kes – I’ll sneak you in via New North Mexico!

  • AdLib : Kes – Haven’t you heard? The candidate for AG in TX is declaring that TX is positioned to be an independent state!

  • Sabreen60 : Murph, The media here is a joke. If the President looked “tired” he had every right. I understand he had meeting with Putin in the wee hours of the morning. Also, there is a thing called jet lag. I watched the Press Conference he was spot on. He was forceful when he felt it was needed (after being asked the same question at least 3 times) and he was serious and patient – as in the patience of Job.

  • AlphaBitch : I will Ad. My girl told me she would call this weekend. Don’t know which day. After I speak with her, I will write you an email. Thanks so much.

  • kesmarn : I just wanna make sure I won’t have any trouble getting back into the country. It might be a little scary to spend forever in North Mexico, with Presidente Perry at the helm.

  • AlphaBitch : It’s a silly funny one ala Hangover. But well done by Jason Sudekis, Jennifer Aniston and others. I like to laugh.

  • AdLib : Night AB! Really appreciate your input on Syria and let me know when you get a good recommendation on where is best for people to contribute.

  • AlphaBitch : Kes- who cares? We’ll just hang out at the Alamo and drink margaritas.

  • kesmarn : I will check that out, Frennie!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : AB- the Millers, really….ok…. looking for a film for the weekend…

  • AlphaBitch : Sedition???

  • AdLib : Night glenn! Wish your granddaughter a great soccer game! Remember not to get into a fistfight with the parents on the other team now!

  • AlphaBitch : If you haven’t done it, and if you like plain goofy movies that make you LOL, go see We’re the Millers. Pup and I went last weekend, and laughed and slapped each other silly! I’m going again tomorrow night w/ my boss and her hubby and the Blov. Bess find those Depends…..

  • Sabreen60 : Good Night AB – until the next time!

  • kesmarn : Wow… is that tempting, Frennie! Will your state still be in the union by then or will I need a passport?

  • AdLib : AB – That makes perfect sense that Iran and others would attack out embassies in Iraq and the ME if we attacked Syria. They love how their allies, the GOP, have elevated Al Qaeda’s attack in Benghazi to an impeachable offense against Obama. Offering aid and comfort to the enemy, what’s the term for that crime again?

  • MurphTheSurf3 : AB I am open to expanding the concept….Hummi ng, kazoos and velcro it is. You will be the percussion section.

  • AlphaBitch : Kes, hon – want to come see me??? You seem to be traveling. And it WILL get cooler here. Think about it. Jan/Feb is lovely here.

  • kesmarn : Velcro! That’s genius. Better than the German beer bottle one I saw recently.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Night Glenn

  • AlphaBitch : I once played in a Velcro orchestra. We played Blue Danube Waltz. It was awesome!

  • Sabreen60 : Good night glenn. Take care!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : kes- I feel a ground swell developing. Who else will jump on the bandwagon!

  • kesmarn : G’night, Frennie! Hug all the chirruns for me!

  • kesmarn : G’night, glenn! Hope your little athlete wins!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad– a couple of comments back….MSNBC and CNN could do nothing but talk about how tired, stressed, beaten down Obama looked at the Press Conference at St. Petersburg….Th en I watch the Al Jazeera America report and they used the words: somber, serious, grave, committed….

  • AlphaBitch : Time for me to tune out, too. I just can’t make it much past 10. I’m a wimp.

  • kesmarn : Murph, I think an all-kazoo Saturday thread would be — er– fascinating!

  • AdLib : KT – No worries, I’ll post Music Thread, have a great time out there! Say hi to Mom for us!

  • glenn : Okay folks, time for me to call it a night. Soccer season has started, and have to get up early and yell for my granddaughter! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Take care and good night.

  • AdLib : AB – Great, I would put up a post on her info about how people can contribute to help, once she can get it to us and we can check it out.

  • Sabreen60 : Is Putin correct when he says the US does not have the right to attack without the UN?

  • AdLib : Hey KT! Hope you’re having a great time!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Bye KT…I will swallow my deep disappointment.. ..I was looking forward to showing off my musical breadth and depth.

  • KillgoreTrout : Murph, LOL!

  • kesmarn : Take care, KT, and happy birthday to your mum!

  • AdLib : Sabreen – Exactly! Obama is not a radical or rogue like many in the GOP, he respects our democracy and I absolutely don’t believe, especially after his comments today, that he would order an attack if Congress says no.

  • AlphaBitch : Happy BD to KT’s momma! Many more.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : KT- no response to my offer- what are you prejudiced toward hummers and kazooers…?

  • glenn : Hi and bye, KT!

  • KillgoreTrout : Thanks folks. Yeah, I am enjoying the Cape, as every year. It’s so beautiful here and it’s always good to see my mom. She turns 84 on the 10th of Sept. Take care all.

  • AlphaBitch : Yessir AdLib. Maybe some sane people who don’t want to take the boat down with ’em, but there could be an AlphaBitch who was willing to take ’em all down. I think it’s a proxy war – either Israel and Iran, or the U.S. and Russia. I smell a proxy!!!! Poor Syria. It’s AFG all over again.

  • kesmarn : The latest I heard was that Iran sent word to its operatives in Iraq to attack the U.S. Embassy there if there’s a military action against Syria.

  • AdLib : Murph – If you saw his interview today, I think it’s clear Obama acknowledges he won’t defy the decision of Congress but he doesn’t want to be cowed by the press at this point, to voluntarily say, “Aw shucks, I know I gotta do what Congress wants, I’m not so big and powerful, am I?” I don’t blame him for not doing this.

  • Sabreen60 : Hi KT. I’ll miss your music. Even if I don’t contribute any music, I enjoy listening to the music other people post.

  • glenn : Sabreen–yes, Putin will probably veto the UN resolution, but then that, IMO, isolates him and shows his “true colors.” Of course, I think the UN will “wimp out” also, and come out with a long report that does nothing to clarify the situation. That doesn’t mean I don’t think President Obama shouldn’t wait for it–just that I don’t think it will make anything more clear.

  • kesmarn : Enjoying a little time on Lake Erie, KT, and I hope you’re enjoying your vacation time, too!

  • KillgoreTrout : Hey Homie, I hope all is well.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : KT….I can do the musical thread as long as it is limited to humming and kazzoo.

  • AdLib : AB – That’s been in the back of my mind. If the US attacks Syria, any move by Iran would be a pretext for Israel to attack them and their nuclear sites or for Iran to attack Israel. This is such a tinderbox that could go up in a blink.

  • AlphaBitch : KT – we will miss you!

  • glenn : Murph–thanks for the info on the UN report. I couldn’t find out exactly what it was supposed to be reporting on.

  • KillgoreTrout : Ad, I just wanted to let you know that I can’t do the music thread this weekend. I’m visiting my mom, and will not be spending much time on the computer as usual. Hope all is well.

  • AlphaBitch : Ad – I asked my girl from Damascus to look into some ways we could help. I know she worked for the Red Crescent (like the Red Cross), but she is looking at all options. Will pass along to you.

  • Sabreen60 : Oh and Putin will veto any resolution coming out of UN so we can forget about UN. PBO said UN is paralyzed.

  • glenn : Murph–I agree that the entire thing will turn into a win for Obama only if he does NOT attack Syria. ‘Cause how can the r/tps call him a “wimp” if they are the ones who won’t let him attack? However, if he decides to attack with Congressional approval, then they’ll begin impeachment proceedings.

  • kesmarn : Hey, Homie!

  • kesmarn : glenn, is the UN commission going to be able to make the determination on who did it? I was thinking not, but I could be wrong.

  • AlphaBitch : Why not capture Assad and then take him to be tried at the Hague? Oh yeah. We’re not a signator of the ICC. Hmmmm…who was Pres when that option was declined???

  • AdLib : AB – We should be focused on helping the refugees in any case. If the purpose of an attack was to protect the Syrian people, that sure would accomplish that goal in a bigger way.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : kes and glenn…the UN report is about what the agent was (what chemical), how it was delivered (mister, artillery shell, rockets) and impact.

  • KillgoreTrout : Hello folks, and goodnight folks. I’m on the Cape visiting my mom and just stopped by to leave Ad a note.

  • kesmarn : Frennie, I want to adopt them all. Every one of them.

  • Sabreen60 : AdLib, You know we did our back and forth here today re Syria. If Congress votes no, I don’t think PBO will strike, based on what he said at the Press Conference today. He said he didn’t believe Syria rose to the definition of “imminent threat” to USA or Syria’s neighbors. Therefore War Powers Act would not apply.

  • glenn : Kes–From what they said on AJA tonight, the consensus at the G20 summit is that the gas was definitely used. Now they’re waiting to find out if they can determine who used it.

  • kesmarn : You betcha, AdLib! Dubya or a Romney would have been viewed as Winston Churchill on steroids.

  • AdLib : glenn – Completely agree, Obama needs to wait for the UN report and I think he knows that, just as he knew he needed to get Congress’ approval.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : SYRIA…Obama had to go to Congress given the lack of backing from the allies and no international collective association as cover. He faces a public that is projecting ALL of its fury re. Iraq and Afghanistan onto Syria (and him- unfairly). Congress will vote NO. The Senate- yes, narrowly and the House -no, resoundingly. AND he must accept that verdict OR face an article of impeachment…th e glue strip the GOP has laid out in front of him….NOW- will he then turn the entire thing into a WIN for him….that will be the thing worth watching.

  • AlphaBitch : Yes, Kes. Look at their little poosha faces! I want to scoop them up and kiss them, tuck them into a nice bed and feed them ice cream. No child should have to go through this. I heard the Pup’s tales of horror from his childhood. I say they freak out over “westernization ” of the young/women, so let’s open up the doors and let the women and children choose.

  • kesmarn : glenn, I heard that the UN report is only going to determine whether and what nerve gas was used — but not “whodunnit.” That might not be too helpful.

  • AdLib : Kes – I’d put my chips beside yours. I think the Repubs just can’t resist trying to deny Obama whatever he asks for and can’t help but give into their racist hatred. Now, if Pres. Romney was asking for approval, he would have gotten a landslide of Repub votes.

  • AlphaBitch : glenn – I agree. Wait. Unless there is something going on behind the scenes to which I am not privy. What was the “deadline”/”r edline” for Israel NOT to attach Iran???

  • kesmarn : Frennie, isn’t it sad that a million children have already had to leave Syria? There won’t be many left to evacuate.

  • glenn : AD–Regardless of what congress does, I think Obama should wait until the final UN report is in. I heard on AJA tonight that it won’t be completed for another 2-3 weeks.

  • AdLib : Republicans think a Venn Diagram is a question about what time the diagram will be created.

  • AlphaBitch : Ad – I am syriassly fatigued. I can’t figure it out, my head hurts, and I just think we should open up the asylum process, steal their women and children, and leave them with just a few people. They would have a country with most of the children living elsewhere. good going, Assad.

  • kesmarn : If I were a betting person I think I would bet that it will be a no vote on Syria. Which is going to put the GOP in a very interesting position if (not when) Assad gasses children again.

  • glenn : Murph–thanks

  • glenn : AB–good one on the Venn diagram!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Glenn – great image of the GOP in retreat.

  • AdLib : So what do you think is going to happen when The House votes next week, will they shoot down an attack on Syria? If so, how will these supposedly “tough on defense” Repubs justify it? WHat do you think Obama will do afterwards if that happens?

  • AlphaBitch : kes – how you do that? When I try and check, VOX is gone, gone, gone. Ad – you holding out on me?????

  • glenn : Ad–I know, that’s why I think they’ll back away from the name Obamacare so quickly our heads will be spinning, and their asses will be bumping on the ground (because that’s where their heads are).

  • AlphaBitch : glenn: Now do your Venn diagram. Boehner is where Circle A and Circle B overlap. One is not contained within the other. A Boehner is the overlap.

  • kesmarn : Murph, I will. I usually check back Saturday morning to see what I missed.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Kes- were you here for my Good News about Obama Care Bulletin? If not, check it out…near the beginnign.

  • glenn : AB–Aren’t drunks the same as r/tps? Reference: boehner

  • AdLib : glenn – Well, Repubs do lie about almost everything, one reason why I was looking forward to their most comfortable liar, Romney, to lose so I never had to see his lying face again. So, yes, the Repubs may try to take credit for “Obamacare” but the fly in the ointment is who it’s named after.

  • kesmarn : glenn, I’m on Lake Erie, and many thanks for those kind words! He didn’t get that math ability from me, though!

  • kesmarn : Hey, Sabreen, I think we must have arrived about the same time. You are so right about doctors hating insurance companies, though. I worked with docs many years and how they cursed those bazillions of forms!

  • glenn : Kes–Congratulat ions to your son! He must have some good genes!

  • glenn : Kes–What lake are you on (in)?

  • AlphaBitch : glenn: drunks

  • glenn : AB–What crawls besides roaches, etc.? Republicans/tpar tiers!

  • Sabreen60 : Hi Kes! I thought you were here before me.

  • AlphaBitch : I like Dr. Momqueen better. Sounds more exotic.

  • kesmarn : Dr. Queen Mom? HOwzat?

  • kesmarn : Hey AdLib!

  • AlphaBitch : Yes ma’am. Does that mean you give up “Tiara Queen?

  • kesmarn : If I have to call him “doc-tah,” I wanna be called Dr. Mom.

  • AdLib : Hey Kes!

  • glenn : Ad–missed you question about renaming it WEDONTCARE. And yes, I really do think they are going to “rue the day” they named it Obamacare. And they will also lie about how they voted for the ACA, just like some of them are lying about how they voted (or to be more precise) did NOT vote for the VAWA.

  • AlphaBitch : oohhh Ad – you are a triple digit guy!!! No boo-boo for you!

  • kesmarn : Doin’ fine, glenn. See below.

  • AlphaBitch : A doc-tah! Love that!

  • AdLib : AB – How about we get some foundation to finance a national pizza/fast food delivery service that also provides grants to fast food workers for buying health care? When people want a Papa Douche’s pizza, they call the delivery service which orders the pizza and delivers it for an additional 25 cents which it puts towards its own employees’ and fast food workers’ health care premiums?

  • kesmarn : Oh, Frennie and friends, my son just got word that he passed “quals” (huge exams) with flying colors. BIG step on the way to the PhD!

  • AlphaBitch : What crawls besides Google? Roaches? Spiders? The only non-creepy crawler is a baby.

  • glenn : Hey Kes! How are you?

  • AlphaBitch : Lucky!!! I wish I was somewhere with a breeze. how’s that handsome genius son of yours???

  • kesmarn : Missed you too, Frennie! I’m at the cottage so if I suddenly vanish, I either fell off the porch into the lake or the connection was dropped.

  • AlphaBitch : Sabreen – good on him! Aetna dropped out of ACA.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : AB Exactamundo!!!

  • Sabreen60 : Doctors complain about insurance companies all the time. Insurance companies tell doctors which medications they can prescribe by not including many drugs on their formulary list-which means the patient must pay full price. Ins companies also tell doctors which test they will approve. I had a primary care physician to kick Aetna to the curb because of all the hoops he had to jump through.

  • glenn : Ad–I respectfully disagree with you on renaming Obamacare by its proper name. They’re already complaining that Obama came to Congress to get authorization for the war which they said that Obama needed to come to Congress to get but which they don’t want to give him credit for doing what they wanted him to do because then they might have to eat their damn words! Does that make sense to you? Me neither!

  • AlphaBitch : Kes!! Frennie!!! Oh, I’ve missed ya!

  • kesmarn : Do we hafta eat the pizza, if we call in, Frennie? And good Friday evening, kids!

  • AlphaBitch : Murph – a public who loves Honey Boo Boo, Jersey Shore and Sarah Palin is not into a three digit IQ.

  • AdLib : glenn – SO do you think that after the public broadly embraces Obamacare, the GOP will rebrand it as a GOP program, maybe with the name, “WEDONTCARE”?

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad, Ad, Ad….Mencken… Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.

  • AlphaBitch : Hey! Let’s all start calling the Papa Douche where we live and asking them to just include the $0.15 it would cost him to provide healthcare to workers. I’m in.

  • AdLib : Murph – But it won’t work, after a 3 year campaign against Obamacare as evil and murderous and killing jobs, there is no way citizens will just nod when Repubs suddenly do a 180 and take credit for something they vowed to destroy and voted to repeal 40 times.

  • AlphaBitch : Screw em. Impeach THIS, mo fos, when we get the public option. It’s an OPTION, not a mandate, for Crys sake!

  • Sabreen60 : AdLib, AB I get those Papa commercials, too. I always want to throw something at my TV.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : AB….another item for the articles of impeachment…

  • AlphaBitch : Amen, Ad. Tell it loud, tell it proud!

  • glenn : Sabreen–Karl is probably still muttering about Ohio, and the romney campaign’s lousy technology. He’s probably still trying to get it to work!

  • AdLib : AB – Exactly! WTF does an insurance company do but get between you and your doctor, ripping both sides off for being a middleman!

  • AlphaBitch : If I were president, I would sign an Exec Order offering public options. End of story. Get the same plan that Congress gets for the same amount of money with the same “no lifetime limits”.

  • Sabreen60 : AB, Rove is probably sitting in a padded room, muttering to himself something about TeaParty aka Teabaggers.

  • AdLib : AB – “Badder Ingredients, badder pizza. Papa Douche’s Pizza!”

  • glenn : Murph–I agree. And in all capital letters, no less.

  • AlphaBitch : Murph – I mention this often at my doctor’s office, in front of old white patients (like myself) who probably watch Fox. The only reply I got was “well, they provide jobs” to which I replied: so does the government.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : AB-+- Rove is shaking his head…warning the GOP insiders that they are going in the wrong direction…and being ignored…..

  • AlphaBitch : What is Porky Rove up to these days?

  • MurphTheSurf3 : AB- I agree….which is why I think a number of the insurance companies are going out of their way to be reasonable and helpful…they do not want most Americans to connect the dots.

  • AdLib : glenn – The Repubs always practice the Lee Atwater/Karl Rove strategy of accusing the Dems of Repub sins. So, they supported insurance company death panels, accuse Obama and the ACA of instituting…wh at already existed!

  • glenn : Ad–Hey! I’ve got an idea. Let’s take bets on how long it will take after Obamacare kicks in for the rw to stop calling in Obamacare. I vote for Nov. of this year, a month after the exchanges kick in.

  • AlphaBitch : If I am to “pay” someone to shuffle paper and issue checks, I’d RATHER pay the government. At least the money would be used to build roads, feed people, open schools instead of just making some a-ho richer.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Glenn….the right wingers will be doing for Obamacare what they did for the Stimulus…conde mn it, take the checks and pose with them in photos. They will be call it THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT, A PROGRAM BASED ON THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION’S MODEL AND PILOTED BY GOP GOVERNOR ROMNEY…..now bow before the GOP minions.

  • Sabreen60 : Murph, Chalk it up to my horrible grammar.

  • AlphaBitch : WHAT THE F*CK DOES AN INSURANCE COMPANY DO BUT SHUFFLE PAPER AND ISSUE CHECKS???? Screw them.

  • AlphaBitch : No Murph – I’ve heard nothing. I’ve been so busy I haven’t even listened to my podcasts, but the one from 8/20 about Ted Cruz in college was terrific. as was the beginning, about Snowden and Greenwald, bits of which I quoted on PPOV earlier.

  • AdLib : Murph – Now I’m scared! I had a nightmare a Death Panel was headed up by Insurance Company execs and they decided it was too expensive to give me health care so I would die. Or was that the GOP’s health care plan I was thinking about?

  • AlphaBitch : Ad: Oh! I think that will be the new chain name. Papa Douche Pizzas.

  • glenn : AdLib–Damn death panels! Like the insurance companies didn’t have them before Obamacare. You know, like policy limits, not insuring pre-existing conditions, etc. The rwnjobs never cease to amaze me with their outright lying and plain stupidity. Guess it all comes back to PODS, as we were discussing earlier. And, I think Obamacare is going to be so successful that r/tps will begin calling it Romneycare and reminding us that it was the idea of romney and the Heritage Foundation. One of their other endearing traits is rewriting history, so I give them a month until after Obamacare fully kicks in, and people like Murph, his neighbors, and I can talk about how our insurance costs went down, and they won’t want President Obama’s name anywhere near it!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : AB- do you know if Stephanie has a new tv platform yet.

  • Sabreen60 : Murph, Just disregard the typos and see if you can figure out what I was trying to say :D

  • AdLib : AB – Poopy John’s Pizza…I feel the same way every time I see that snake on tv giving away pizzas, “SO you can give away 2 for 1 pizzas but raising the price 10 cents to give all your employees health care would ruin your business?? What a Papa Douche!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Sabreen…ok, now I am double dense…yes I said that and you made the brilliant connection that I missed entirely. Too much time in the sun.

  • AlphaBitch : Good points, Ad. Perhaps I ‘ll remind them of this. I already called and raised hell when they “moved” my Stephanie Miller on Current by putting the channel into a more expensive block. Guess I did OK [ we got it for the same price we had been paying.

  • Sabreen60 : Murph, I may have misunderstood your comment. I thought when you said you attempted to post on other sites Syndrome (as in Obama Derangement Syndrome) out you kicked of the sites. Ooops!

  • AdLib : AB – Who can blame ATT for censoring AJA? After all, they’re busy enough spying on our calls and emails to hand over to the NSA, the last thing they need on their system is an organization acting in an unAmerican way.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : AB and Sabreen….of course, how dense of moi!

  • AlphaBitch : Soundcloud, Murph – he has several “tunes” and Skeeter and Troll Notification are two of the best (next to Aspersions on My Asparagus”

  • AdLib : Murph – The obstruction plan of the Repubs is failing and will fail because word of mouth will overcome their trying to keep their state’s citizens in the dark on it. Then how will those same citizens respond at election time???

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad If you censor any of my articles I will report you to a death panel….

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Sabreen I know who Rocky Mountain Mike is…parodies, right? But the rest of your comment eludes me. Can you clarify?

  • AlphaBitch : What??? Papa John didn’t cut workers?? What a wad! Everytime I see his commercial, I want to barf.

  • AdLib : glenn – Another great testimony to how the ACA is OF COURSE lowering rates and limiting increases. And articles have been coming out proving that the ACA is not causing employers to drop insuring their employees or cut hours for full time workers. Now if only someone can prove there are no death panels! They scare me! YIPE!

  • AlphaBitch : I am so mad. Because SOMEONE works for ATT, we get an unbelievable deal on Uverse. We also can’t get AJA. Thanks, corporation, for being such a stupid censor.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Glenn-Medicaid is not obliged to follow your Georgia health commission rules and they did not. Good for them and better for you. This is the reality and I am starting to think that if young people weigh in this could be a huge success.

  • Sabreen60 : Murph, I admit on a couple of sites, I just resorted to putting a link in for Rocky Mountain Mike’s “Skeeter” or “Troll Notification System”.

  • AdLib : Murph – TX and FL are even worse when it comes to uninsured, TX is about 25% of population and 50th in the US, FL is 49th. Because of the neglect they show, Dems may find a lot of converts after the ACA starts helping so many poor Repubs in red states.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Sabreen…I sampled several other states. The red states have the worst insurance profile so the insurers are piling up there given the untapped market. No wonder so many of the red state health commissioners are blocking their agencies from spreading the word.

  • glenn : Murph–Regarding your insurance comment. I just became eligible for Medicare, and had to get supplemental insurance. As you may remember I live in GA, where the SOS has actually said he will do everything he can to obstruct Obamacare. However, the rules are the rules, and when I called Medicare to find out about supplemental insurance, they told me about no pre-existing conditions and all the other things that insurance companies HAD to provide to me. To make a long story short, I ended up with a supplemental policy that will cost me $96 a month less than the policy I had with the school district in which I taught.

  • AlphaBitch : Ad – probably. too bad he had it backwards and somewhat lower.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad Lib AJA is terrific. It is now my morning news and I have come to really like several of its regular feature programs.

  • AdLib : Thanks for reminding me Murph, meant to censor your article! Oops!

  • AdLib : glenn – Have been meaning to watch AJA more and will, they do represent a real threat to the corporate MSM system and that’s a damn good thing!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad Lib The rep I spoke with today was very helpful. I asked why so many companies are in this exchange and she said that Mo. has so many uninsured and underinsured people it is a prime market. AND since our state legislature also turned down medicaid expansion there is a whole group looking for low cost very basic insurance that would not have been there otherwise.

  • AdLib : AB – Did Ted Cruz go to a plastic surgeon with a photo of Joseph McCarthy and say, “I want to look like this!”?

  • glenn : Murph–This just proves to me that r/tps don’t want to work FOR the U.S.; they just want to work AGAINST President Obama.

  • Sabreen60 : Your health insurance info is amazing. I so hope people will read and learn what’s out there for them.

  • AdLib : Murph – That is so cool! First of all, glad for you and your neighbors. Second of all, isn’t it anecdotal evidence that as the ACA rolls out, Americans are going to quickly learn what a benefit it is to them and the Repubs like Cruz and Paul will go up in smoke with the GOP.

  • glenn : AB–Lucky you, not having to see Ted Cruz on t.v.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Glenn…I tried to publish that comment at two other sites and the Syndrome stuff got me bounce both times. Yes- it all keeps coming down to him and it is not about him….this is serious policy for serious people.

  • AdLib : The meme repeated verbatim on MSNBC today was, “The momentum seems to be going against Obama.” Over and over, the same line. Yes, we know this is an uphill climb but writing that into the teleprompters of every show?

  • glenn : Ad–I agree. I have been watching more of AlJazeera, especially their news hour at 8:00 p.m. Reminds me of the news the way it used to be! Now, I must admit, I haven’t watched network news in a very long time–mostly since Peter Jennings left. I don’t know if I’m liking AlJazeera because it’s new, or because it actually is news.

  • AlphaBitch : I guess one good thing about being from the state that is “behind” Ted Cruz is that from this direction, at least we don’t have to see his ugly mug on TV ads.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Here is something to share. I am trying to help several neighbors get familiar with obamacare/ACA. I got a few folks together last evening and we went on line. Google “Obamacare Missouri” and you get this page «link» It is a portal to an on-line inventory that analyzes your needs and then provides a list of insurers, plans and costs. The thing is many layers deep. 7 companies are vying for the uninsured here in Missouri. The state legislature refused to set up its own exchange so this is the ACA one. I filled it out and at the end had a choice of 46 plans which varied widely in cost. Here is the kicker. One of them, is identical to the plan I now have and it is $56 a month cheaper. My neighbors all had similar experiences. Each of us got calls for insurance agents today and are in discussion re. what we will do. AND no pre-existing condition prohibition and, from what we can tell, no obvious age discrimination. I have a serious blood disease and expected to get zapped. Nope.

  • glenn : Hi Sabreen!

  • AdLib : Hey Sabreen!

  • Sabreen60 : Hello Planeteers!

  • AdLib : glenn – This is one of the things that damns MSNBC. You can watc an 8 minute segment on how the RW is lying about Obama, Obamacare, etc. then they break for a commercial and they have Ted Cruz blathering lie upon lie. I mean, doesn’t it show the complete moral bankruptcy of corporate news channels?

  • glenn : Ad–Exactly. I cannot believe some of the things I’m reading and hearing. It’s what Obama said last week or last month, and what Congress said, etc., etc. Leave it to the r/tps to divert/district! It’s the “patriotic” way, according to them.

  • AdLib : glenn – Agreed, the MSM will always twist current events into a trivial personality driven “gotcha” story. Really? Is the mass murder of 100,000 people all about, “Is Obama going to lose a vote and if he does, will it weaken him???”

  • glenn : AB–Open door–open mind. You seem to have both!

  • glenn : Ad–Are you getting ads regarding “defund Obamacare now” on your t.v.? I’m getting them here, and they’re really pissing me off!

  • glenn : Good evening, Murph. Just read your piece on Syria–haven’t been to the Planet this week, so just now read it. I have been trying to “keep up” with the news; but it seems the news is more about President Obama than Syria. Or, to be more fair, more about PODS–President Obama Derangement Syndrome–than Syria.

  • AdLib : Hmm…can’t think of any pressing topic to talk about. Any suggestions?

  • AdLib : Evening Murph!

  • AlphaBitch : Hi Murph.

  • AlphaBitch : I am an open door.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Good evening fellow Planeteers.

  • glenn : AB–You’re the “hostess with the mostest”, huh?

  • AlphaBitch : Ah, that’s nice! It’s hot and muggy here. We so desperately need rain.

  • glenn : AB–Actually, it’s very pleasant right now. Finally, the rain has stopped; days are sunny, around 80 degrees, and down in the 60’s and 70’s at night.

  • AlphaBitch : Did I? I have company most days. We are waiting for our next guest who will be from Ankara. He comes 10/4

  • AdLib : Hi AB. What’s up Glenn?

  • AlphaBitch : Hi glenn! How’s the weather in your neck of the woods?

  • glenn : AlphaBitch–how are you? Didn’t you have company last week?

  • glenn : Hi AdLib, Hi AlphaBitch

  • AlphaBitch : Hi.

  • AdLib : Don’t forget to say hi when you arrive!

  • AlphaBitch : Knock knock.

  • AdLib : Vox Populi, our live chat about the week’s events begins tonight at 7 pm PST. Hope to see you then!
