• AdLib : Looks like it’s about that time now to wrap up Vox Populi for the night. Thanks to all for another rousing evening. Sleep well Sabreen and Sally! Have a great weekend and hope to see you here next week!

  • Sabreen60 : Nite everyone. Have a great week and behave!!!

  • SallyT : Sabreen, I understand your opinion. I don’t care for name calling either. However, I have heard nice names too. I keep listening because I wanted to see if his opinions would change with time and they did. Some leave the fold to come back later and even a stronger supporter.

  • choicelady : SAbreen – Deaniac is great at that, and our own AdLib nails stuff tight as a tick as well.

  • Sabreen60 : CL, I agree. I visit many blogs and am always learning. Sometimes budgetary issues make me see spots. Deaniac can break these subjects down in such a way that even I can understand them. :)

  • choicelady : AdLib – you’re on!

  • AdLib : Night CL, have a wonderful weekend! See ya then, I’ll bring the martinis!

  • choicelady : Well all – I’m heading to bed. I have houseguests arriving this weekend. Have to shovel out. (OK – it’s really not THAT bad.) Have a lovely weekend, and let’s get together next week, too? I’ll bring the chips, OK? ‘Night all!

  • AdLib : CL – Yes, those on the left who criticize shouldn’t be treated as similar at all to those who throw emotional and absolutist tantrums. We don’t tolerate it from those on the Right, we shouldn’t tolerate it from those on the Left. Yes, we can criticize and disagree with Obama and many other Dems but to become extremists, hurling nasty namecallings and howling at being betrayed everytime you don’t get everything you want. it’s no different from the Baggers we criticize.

  • choicelady : Sabreen – that also nails it. Name calling is the last refuge of the inept. AdLib – that’s a great analysis – PBO can raise up his own two daughters but finally figured out he can’t babysit other people’s spoiled brats! PERFECT!

  • Sabreen60 : Sally, I don’t care that people disagree with PBO’s policies. I haven’t agreed with everything. I have a problem with character attacks. I have problems with pudnuts/comedian s who find it necessary to tell PBO, what, where when and how to do everything. I don’t recall them doing that with another President. I will close about Maher with this. I have watched Maher since he hosted “Politically Incorrect”. I though him to be fair minded and intelligent about most subjects. I watched during much of 2009 and some of 2010. I stopped watching him when I believed he was NOT giving a fair critique of PBO’s policies and instead decided to denigrate PBO as weak and a wimp. The same thing I heard coming from Republicans, some of whom were racist. I’m not saying Maher is a racist. I am saying that he was quick to use the term “weak” when speaking about PBO. He didn’t call Clinton “weak” when he sold out the middle class to get his first budget passed. Maybe I’m too sensitive. But anyone who resorts to name-calling usually cannot defend their accusations.

  • choicelady : Sally – what scared me for the last year or so (again, some of this came from my own Board members) was that people did not even see or acknowledge the results. It’s back today with the screamers over unemployement compensation extensions which they don’t understand. Too many on the Left are as bad as the Right about “shoot first, ask questions later.” It seems to be getting less pronounced, but it’s still a factor in “poutrage” over understanding.

  • AdLib : CL – So true, watching Obama deal with the Repubs was like watching a good parent try to deal with a roomful of nasty brats. His expectation was that when he gave them something, they would give something back but after a long while, finally resigned himself to the fact that you can’t fix other parent’s brats. He likely did a wonderful job with his daughters but might have trouble babysitting kids from a Bagger household.

  • choicelady : Sabreen – I seeeee you over there! He is very helpful, isn’t he? Between PPOV, TPV, Politicus, and some of the other blogs (I love Eclectablog for many things) I think we have many sources of info available that were not there before 2008. PPOV and the Daily Planet are all amazing. We ALL set standards of writing from evidence, not just hype. It gives readers a serious insight into reality that the hair on fire sites just never have. It’s important to be really informed, not just emotional. So I will see you there, too!

  • SallyT : And, people that thought it was wrong at the time, CL, may have voiced their disappointments. But once they saw a different approach from the bullying and lying that we had lived with through Bush, became supportive. People can change their minds with results.

  • AdLib : Bottom line for me, if Maher is going to be a strong supporter of Obama from this point forward, that’s a good thing. We’ll take everyone who wants to be on the side of the 99%. They are not the enemy, even if they used to declare themselves as such. We should come together to stand against the Repubs and their billionaire and Extremist owners.

  • choicelady : ADLib – well, he’d not be the first to speak out of both sides of his mouth. I do think the Left got brainwashed (some of the Left) over thinking Cheney set the norm. I REALLY like that Obama restored the “real adult in the room” as a standard. I delve into policy details, and I find I’m in awe of his results AND his negotiating standards. Never saw anything like it before. But if you want theater – well, he DID set the standard as “No drama Obama.” We knew that in 2008. And it was refreshing. To see someone negotiate from nerves of steel instead of bullying – wow. Awesome!

  • AdLib : Sabreen, I too like Deaniac83 and TPV.

  • Sabreen60 : CL, I love Deaniac83 over at The People’s View. He was invaluable to me during the debt ceiling made-up crisis. If fact, he’s great on unraveling most issues.

  • AdLib : You can see here, Maher saw the deal only as caving into Repubs on the Bush tax cuts.

  • AdLib : CL – Maher didn’t say that all the time: “And, you know, for him to be talking about compromising with the Republicans on the Bush tax cuts, where — where are they going to draw a line in the sand? When are they going to remember who they are? I’m so disappointed and I still like him and still think there’s hope. He could get it yet, but I’m so disappointed that he just seems to be another in a long line of Democrats that come across as wimpy and wussy and whatever word you want to as describe to it of not standing up for what they believe in enough.” «link»

  • SallyT : I don’t live in myths and I do believe that people can disagree but still be supportive. Times call for different approaches. The same won’t always work because situations change. Some people will be happy and others won’t. However, you still can support someone you don’t totally agree with because in the long run they are the better.

  • choicelady : Sally – I’m stunned that Maher actually understood and said that Obama did the right thing on the tax cut extension. Good for him!

  • choicelady : Sabreen – in the lame duck agreement with extension for the rich, he got 14% for them and 86 % of that agreement for the people! Center for Budget & Policy Priorities told the truth on that – and got TRASHED by lefties and lost a lot of funding!!! So even the truth was overshadowed by ideology! The same thing happened with the debt ceiling agreement when Obama held critical social programs immune from the automatic cuts. He got no credit because no one botheed to understand. This is seriously damaging when ideology trumps fact.

  • SallyT : I heard Maher say that he knew that the President had to go with the tax cut to get the unemployment. Sure he wanted it the other way like lots of people did, even on here, but he agreed that he knew it was how it had to be done. Sorry, but I did hear him say that.

  • AdLib : Sally – I’ve criticized Obama, I was very upset at him during the HCR debate and I think he handled it badly (thanks to Rahm!). There have been other issues too for me where I oppose him and his position. That is totally cool. But calling him names, saying that I’d never vote for him again or wouldn’t have in the first place, insisting that he is a failure, etc., the words and actions of the purists who hammered him because he didn’t do everything they wanted, that’s kind of crossing the line from criticism to insults. Maher called him a “wuss”, a “wimp”, “spineless” and more. He trashed Obama often, not based on real issues but because Obama wasn’t as strong as Cheney and rammed through everything Maher wanted. I just see that as way past criticism and more into egocentric tantrums.

  • SallyT : Maybe when you are coming from an administration that was bullying and got their way, right or wrong, you think that is what it takes. Obama has shown another approach and people see that can work too now. But, they had to see results first. However, even the President has realized that he has to take a stand now and again with these people to get it done. I do feel we will see a totally different Obama in his next term. Fairweather friends? Maybe but friends with money, fair or otherwise, help.

  • choicelady : Sally – I guess I think the belief that LBJ etc. got mad and got what they wanted is just not accurate. I have an acquaintance who believes the solid south Congress voted for the civil rights bill in ’64 because LBJ pounded his desk and made them do it. Well – they voted NO. Even Al Gore SENIOR voted against it! We live by myth more than anything, and it’s doing damage.

  • Sabreen60 : CL, exactly. Case in point: Maher and others accused PBO of caving because of the tax cuts to the rich. They never talked about the fact that PBO got unemployment compensation, middle class tax cuts, DADT and START. They accused him of being weak and caving. Now either they knew better or they were lying. They had to have known that the Teabaggers were coming into Congress in January and none of those things would have passed. But Maher and others just said that PBO caved to the Repubs. I could give other examples, but we know them.

  • SallyT : I think he was giving an opinion that many won’t appreciate but others were also saying that they wished the President would get more agressive. Many have said that about Congress and the Dems. People can change their minds and they can disagree with the President but still support him. I think that Maher is supporting him verbally and financially. I hope there will be more to do just that.

  • choicelady : Sally – here and over at The People’s View, at Politicususa and other sites, the writers tend to be policy wonks who dig into issues. What happens with Maher and others is they look at superficial stuff and jump to conclusions, and that’s OK if they will listen when called out on accuracy. What makes us mad is when they won’t, when – as Lawrence O’Donnell says – they make up their own facts. That is maddening. Hell – I have BOARD members who do that! Some people just like to be mad. But it really does harm when they have a spotlight. Wanting Obama to “pound the bully pulpit” is silly when he got so much accomplished steadily and without that. He would NOT have gotten more with anger and his own bullying. He’d have gotten less. That is a sign of weakness, not strength, but we all wanted revenge on the Right and don’t feel we got it.

  • AdLib : CL – Agreed, I am not focused on being angry at Maher though I do see him as you describe, as a fairweather friend. It’s a good thing that former purists and emoprogs are abandoning their sabotage of their own party. Now, it’s the GOP’s turn to blow itself up.

  • AdLib : Here’s some more Obama namecalling by Maher: “During his appearance on CNN’s Fareed Zakaria GPS today, Bill Maher said that he felt President Obama was acting ‘wimpy’ and ‘wussy’ lately. “I’m just so disappointed that he seems to be another in a long line of Democrats that come across as wimpy, and wussy, and whatever word you want to ascribe to it, and not standing up for what they believe in enough,” Maher said. He also joked that “He looks beaten down….I thought when we elected him, as a comedian, two years in I’d be making jokes about what a gangster he was.””

  • SallyT : He has said that he likes that the President has gotten more aggressive and so have many others. Many didn’t like the Goldman Sach stuff. Doesn’t matter really.

  • choicelady : AdLib – Sally: Maher may have been a fairweather friend, but at least he’s a FRIEND now. I think we can say that for now, he’s doing the right thing even if we did not think so before.

  • AdLib : Sally – At the same time, I do watch his show and I am pleased that he’s stopped the attacks and is atoning for them with his financial support.

  • AdLib : Sally – Read my comment below, there’s a link too, where Maher insults and attacks Obama, as he did on his show for quite a while…until Obama and the economy started coming back.

  • choicelady : Sally – you’re right. If he’s standing with the president now, then good for him!

  • SallyT : I have watched everyone of his shows and he’s stand up acts and he is for Obama always. He is a comic so he does make jokes. People don’t always agree about the President, nor should they. The President needs to hear from everyone not just yes people. Maher has the money and he is giving his support. There are a lot of people that might not have been for the President but if they are now that is wonderful! We need everyone!

  • Sabreen60 : Sally if you like Maher that’s fine. I don’t think anyone is telling you not to like him. I’m just saying in the beginning he was a supporter of PBO. Then he turned and joined the other firebaggers. He his criticisms weren’t based on the whole truth. He call PBO weak and accused him of caving. He NEVER came back and admitted to being wrong. Therefore, I think he’s a worm.

  • AdLib : Whoops, let me try again with the link: «link»

  • AdLib : Here’s a taste of Bill maher when Obama was down: “Maher was not about to let the audience have their comfort zone. He sneered at Obama’s giveback to the banks, doing a wicked caricature of Obama handing the billions out to A.I.G. and Goldman Sachs. He was also deeply critical –and hilariously so — of Obama’s failure to press home his agenda like Dick Cheney and George Bush were able to do despite what the electorate thought. When Bill Maher, the most liberal stand-up comedian in America, is attacking Obama, then the President should be concerned., When he is comparing him unfavorably to Dick Cheney, then he had better be REALLY concerned. «link» central.com/stor y/news/periscope /bill-maher-slam s-obama-and-draw s-gasps-from-cro wd-82324907.html #ixzz1nMpOCvu3

  • choicelady : Sally – actually, the fact you found him supportive makes me breathe a tad easier. We trust you on that. Just never actually heard or read it ourselves. We will make you our touchstone.

  • SallyT : Okay, I could pull up things that he has said but I know it won’t make a difference. So, I will just be quite.

  • choicelady : AdLib – Maher always makes me think of Rick J. – slimy opportunist – per our conversation this afternoon.

  • Sabreen60 : AdLib, CL I totally agree.

  • AdLib : Sabreen – I used to like Maher before realizing that his “principles” were just what would get him laid or high or get the cool people to like him. You can tell someone’s true character when the chips are down and when they were for Obama, he was joining the rest of the weasels in slamming Obama and calling him names. I think it’s fine for a SuperPAC to take his money and spend it on Obama’s campaign but I still see Maher like Arianna, an opportunist whose only loyalty is to his own ego.

  • choicelady : Sally – in all the things I’ve read by Maher over the past 3 years, I never heard him say one good thing about the president. Not one.

  • choicelady : Sabreen – Maher is the privileged white guy who “gets” to say the nasty because, of course, he’s so cool. He’s SO wrong!

  • SallyT : Again, I am the only one that likes BMaher but I never heard him bashing the President all the time. He did not like somethings but other haven’t either. I have heard him stand up for the President many times. But, I know I am out numbered. But, the money is great!

  • choicelady : ADLib – they caught on fire again today over unemployement insurance extension. Deaniac over at The People’s View had a GREAT analysis! There finally is money for training and job hunting assistance not just maintenance. Both are there – but it is real HELP now, and that’s superb.

  • Sabreen60 : CL, I’ve read some comments on other blogs who say to tell Maher to take the money and shove it. I say take the money. I wish Maher would stop with his offensive “black gangster” jokes.

  • AdLib : Sabreen – You nailed it! The emoprogs/purists /firebaggers have discovered that no one cares about their BS anymore so many of them have slithered back behind Obama. Fine with me but they will always be seen as the snakes they are by many including me.

  • choicelady : Sally – after a while, they all blend, shift, merge – not much to distinguish them, and that’s a fact.

  • choicelady : AdLib – yes, nothing like white supremacy to make “all Spanish speaking brown people” seem to be one big group. Man are THEY wrong!

  • SallyT : CL, I don’t like him by no means. Just heard his name thrown around. But than again I couldn’t remember his name!

  • AdLib : Kalima, always a lovely pleasure to see you on Vox, however fleetingly! See you around shortly!

  • choicelady : Sabreen – you nailed it! They are entirely self interested would-be progressive pudnuts. But let’s take their money anyway?

  • AdLib : CL – That is what’s so funny. To Repubs, all Hispanics look alike and are the same. Cuban, Mexican, Columbian, no difference. So they do actually think Rubio would attract ALL Hispanic voters. Have they got a surprise coming if they pick him. And Hispanics don’t like lying SOBs like Rubio any more than non-Hispanics.

  • SallyT : Well, hell, AdLib, where did I get NV???? I knew that!

  • choicelady : Sally – Rubio was a LOT of things when he was younger. Also Catholic, but some aspect of that doesn’t hold up either, though I forget what else I heard. He’s a phony through and through.

  • Sabreen60 : I don’t trust these pundnuts who bashed PBO for almost three years and suddenly they’re have a “come to Jesus” moment. I think they jumped on the bandwagon when PBO was hot and as soon as they didn’t get their unicorn they started bashing him. Now they see that the ship might sail without them (losing their TV/Cable status) so they are back on board.

  • SallyT : Rubio was also a Mormon when he was young……that won’t work!

  • choicelady : Sayonara, Kalima!

  • Kalima : HI Sabreen and everyone. On a coffee break and my iPad, will read this when I’m done cleaning. Take care and sayonara for now.

  • SallyT : I knew you would know it!

  • choicelady : Sally – Rubio would never draw the Latino vote because they are predominantly Mexican, Central and South American and sneer at Cubans, especially phony “victims” of Castro. Cubans are not ever good draws for the Latino vote on any level.

  • AdLib : He’s from FL.

  • SallyT : ONE

  • SallyT : THAT IS THE O

  • AdLib : Cuba!

  • AdLib : Sally – Marco Rubio is the liar who claimed his parents left Cube due to Castro.

  • SallyT : AdLib, do you know who I am talking about? Is he from NV? I can’t think of his name.

  • AdLib : Night Chris, have a great weekend!

  • choicelady : AdLib – the fact Rand is Quayle-ish is not a problem for them. His anti-Civil Rights stuff is a plus. Thinking as they do is enough to produce migranes, but that stuff is all GOOD in their minds.

  • SallyT : Good night Chris.

  • SallyT : AdLib, I mean that guy who said his parent escaped Castro but it was a lie.

  • ChrisR266 : I’m out, all. I wish you all a great weekend.

  • AdLib : Sally – Tim Pawlenty, ex-Gov of MN who was the first to drop out of the GOP primary last year.

  • SallyT : Oh, okay, thanks Adlib. Who was that other guy?

  • choicelady : kes – come back if you can. See ya!

  • AdLib : Sally – Mitch Daniels, Gov of IN.

  • Sabreen60 : Nite KQ!

  • choicelady : ‘Night KQ! Sleep well!

  • AdLib : Okay Kes, hope to see you in a bit. Otherwise, have a great weekend.

  • SallyT : The one that said he’s parent escape Castro when in truth they had gotten here 2 years earlier.

  • Sabreen60 : Hi Kalima.

  • AdLib : Hi Kalima!!! Yes, I saw that item and though I believe that and Rand’s future in general is the main reason, Rand won’t be the VP. He’s too Dan Quayle and with his anti-Civil Rights Act in his truckload of baggage, he’s pretty weak.

  • SallyT : Okay, Kes, you come back if you can.

  • kesmarn : Son just arrived back home, pals. Hafta leave at least for the time being.

  • SallyT : He’s not the one that was a Mormon as a kid and then became a Catholic?

  • SallyT : Which one is Daniels?

  • kesmarn : B’Bye, KQ!

  • AdLib : Seeya KQ!

  • AdLib : CL – I don’t know about the RW getting explosive after losing to Obama. I think they could instead be hugely demoralized and even break off from the GOP…to wander in the wilderness of hatred until fading away and back into the GOP.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Take that bet AdLib. Gotta go for now.

  • choicelady : Hi Kalima – thanks for that, and you may be right on the money. Rand Paul is a Dominionist albeit closested, and he might fill the bill.

  • SallyT : Kalima, I said that earlier.

  • kesmarn : Hey,Kalima! That does all fit, doesn’t it?

  • Kalima : Hi everyone, can’t stay, but I put a link on TO/OT this this morning which said, the reason Ron Paul is being so nice to Romney, is because he wants Rand to be his VP. Back to work. See you.

  • choicelady : All – I still think if a relative moderate wins, an extremist has to be Veep. Even with that, when PBO wins, I am in fear for this nation. We are in a cold civil war now. I think it will heat up as it did in Clinton’s. Lots and lots of violence if not agains PBO, against all of us who piss off the religious right.

  • AdLib : KQ – BTW, I owe you a dollar from our last bet that you won so this is double or nothing, high stakes politics!

  • ChrisR266 : Sabreen: I wasn’t surprised, per se. I think he’s sending a message–the rest of these folks are bat shit crazy, and I’m going to do my best to make sure they don’t stumble into the PoTuS.

  • AdLib : KQ – Let’s make it a $10,000…er $1 bet. I say no way will it be Pawlenty or Daniels, he will need a RW extremist to mollify the Baggers or they will stay home.

  • SallyT : Okay, I am the only one that likes BMaher, I know, but I think it is great. You don’t always have to agree with the President to support him. And, Bill is putting money where his mouth is.

  • choicelady : sabreen – Maher’s seen the error of his ways? Even a blind pig can find an acorn once in awhile? Every dog has his day? Something trite to say whey Maher finally – FINALLY – did the right thing? Can’t explain it.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Sabreen that was a WTF?! moment for me. Marion’s head must be spinning.

  • AdLib : Sabreen – I would think that Romney tries a big pivot to the middle, knowing that he has no core and will say anything to get elected…and that will destroy him. His base will revolt and indies will see all the Obama ads that show his extremist positions just a few months ago. Romney is trapped, there is a ton of video showing spite for women, Hispanics, Gays, moderates, unions and on and on.

  • Sabreen60 : Oh, just a quick change….what about Bill Maher (whom I actually can’t stand) and his $1M to the Super Pac supporting PBO?

  • KQµårk 死神 : Agreed CL. It was nice to realize that.

  • choicelady : KQ – Tweetie is pro-Catholic, NOT pro wingnut.

  • SallyT : Pawlenty runs Romneys campaign, doesn’t he?

  • kesmarn : That’s like matching eggshell with pale beige.

  • choicelady : ADLib – I agree it might not be Sarah, but whoever it is will be a Dominionist, I’d put money on that. And if a Dominionist (Saintorum, Newt, Paul) were to win, they would add another. Balance is for mods, not for them.

  • KQµårk 死神 : AdLib bank on Daniels or Pawlenty.

  • AdLib : CL – Sarah is so over now, no worries about her. Romney could be forced to a Paul Ryan or a Rubio but both have baggage that should scare swing voters.

  • SallyT : He just needs that Hitler mustache

  • ChrisR266 : Sabreen: No, they won’t buy it. They don’t like lily livered weasels who can’t take a stand and defend it.

  • KQµårk 死神 : CL I was just surprised because Tweety is an apologist for the Catholic church so much. I guess he even sees the extreme part of that organization.

  • choicelady : KQ – McCain did NOT want Palin but Kristol and his ilk forced Palin upon McCain. I am not sure Romney’d be any different.

  • SallyT : I know, AdLib, I know. I love Ollie but he does look like him to me. But, does not have Ollie’s character or class.

  • kesmarn : Imagine a Gingrich/Christi e ticket. They’d need Air Force 1 and 2.

  • Sabreen60 : I’ve heard a couple of pundnuts say they believe Romney will win the nom and then move to the middle. People(?) will accept him and realize that he had to lie about his position on issues in order to win the nom. Will Repubs accept this?

  • KQµårk 死神 : The only thing CL is McCain was a risk taker and Romney for all his Bain stuff really isn’t especially when it comes to his campaign.

  • AdLib : Sally – Not Ollie, I like Ollie! How about, Christie looks like the fat mafia guys in The Sopranos?

  • choicelady : KQ – does not surprise me. I’ve heard Tweety on other extremists, and he’s always good. He shut up an anti-choice zealot one time and did it forcefully. He’s conservative but hates nutjobs.

  • kesmarn : Ole Headless Jan Brewer, Sally?

  • SallyT : She did put her finger in Obama’s face.

  • AdLib : Sabreen – There were a number of photoshopped probes she showed on an earlier show, missed the one with McDonnell

  • SallyT : CL, maybe he will go with the Governor of AZ.

  • KQµårk 死神 : CL I could not believe it last night Tweety of all people warned us of the Dominionist Santorum.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Face it with Romney image is everything which cancels out Christie and rape with a foreign object Gov.

  • choicelady : KQ and AdLib – ALL of those suggestions immediately piss off the radical right Dominionist base. They are too “moderate” (gag) for the zealots who drum up the vote. I think Romney will be forced, as was McCain by Bill Kristol, to take a zealot to “balance” the ticket. But who? Is this where, God forbid, Sarah does get back in?

  • ChrisR266 : Christie has got to be watching this Santorum stuff and wonder seriously about how much of that rep will hang with him as a candidate. He won’t do it this year.

  • SallyT : He reminds me of Oliver Hardy but I like Laurel and Hardy!

  • AdLib : KQ – Pawlenty and Daniels don’t help him much, I don’t think so. He needs the South or a “celebrity” VP to give his campaign a charge, as McCain tried with Palin.

  • kesmarn : Instead of confetti, he’ll see to it that what rains down on the convention is spaghetti.

  • Sabreen60 : AdLib, Rachel got pretty graphic. She showed a photoshopped picture of McDonnell with a transvaginal probe in his hand and said that’s what people will think of when they think of him.

  • KQµårk 死神 : He reminds me a Luca Bratzi (sp)

  • choicelady : ADLib – Christie really does remind me of Brando as The Godfather.

  • KQµårk 死神 : I think Romney goes with the safest pick which is Pawlenty or Daniels.

  • AdLib : Christie would make a dramatic entrance, lowered by crane into a piano case made into a chair.

  • choicelady : AdLib – I don’t see Christie. I think he has hidden baggage (maybe why his butt is so large?) He gives me the creeps in his evasions. Something is not right there. Mrs. Christie is actually kinda funny though. Maybe SHE will run?

  • KQµårk 死神 : Christie aka Taft is the epitome of 21st century robber barons.

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib: I don’t think Christie will take an offer. He wants to run for POTUS. Losing as a VP nominee will hurt that possibility much.

  • kesmarn : Maybe Christie can helicopter in to the GOP convention and demand the veep job.

  • AdLib : Sally – Exactly!

  • SallyT : Ah, AdLib, Christie already looks like he has Gorged himself.

  • choicelady : Sabreen – did NOT see it and am thankful as hell.

  • kesmarn : I missed that, Sabreen.

  • AdLib : CL – I think Bob McDonald is at the top of the list along with Christie as VP for Romney. Christie really wants it badly, he can already taste it and wants to gorge himself on it.

  • SallyT : I saw it Sabreen and it was!

  • choicelady : kes – I’m still waiting for the white guys to ask the Big Question of other white guys – why are you walking out on your women and kids? They point fingers at Black men, never their own.

  • KQµårk 死神 : And one of the biggest reasons for that is we’ve gone from a wholesale to retail economy CL. Meaning without as many manufacturing jobs, margins just stink. We always see mega profits because companies are huge now but margins have gone down with the retail shift.

  • Sabreen60 : Did anyone see the video of the Rep. on the VA Senate floor telling the joke (with music) about the transvaginal ultrasound? It was past disgusting. Plus he was such a prude, he couldn’t say “vaginal”. He said transV.

  • AdLib : KQ – I too wonder if Romney can leap to the middle without totally demoralizing and turning off his needed base. Are they going to fundraise and GOTV for a guy who double-crossed them?

  • kesmarn : Exactly, c’lady. Single parent households are anathema to ’em and they always point out the poverty numbers, but a non-working wife/mom … they have no explanation for where the prosperity comes from there.

  • choicelady : AdLib – we talked about this two weeks ago but never really settled on any final answers. If Romney wins – who’s Veep?

  • ChrisR266 : KQ: With all the media attention, I don’t know if Romney diving to the middle in October is going to get him anything. More people than any one is reporting are watching what’s going on here.

  • AdLib : KQ and CL – Backing up to your earlier comments on a brokered convention, I do think Romney will prevail if it happens but the positioning and conflict that would go on in that process would be hilarious to Dems and explosive to Repubs. They will be in a shambles and you know the Baggers are going to feel like they’ve been screwed, no matter who is thrown at VP to placate them.

  • choicelady : kes – when the median INDIVIDUAL wage has not budged from 1973, the family income HAS to come from working wives. They just ignore that “inconvenient truth”.

  • KQµårk 死神 : That’s how it will go down no doubt AdLib. But I also know Romney will dive to the center during the general election and too many voters won’t be paying attention until then. It gets me angry that he’s perceived as moderate when he’s radical because he is so unprincipled.

  • ChrisR266 : Sally: Now that’s my kind of God! I’d sure like to commune with your Chief FYR. Smart Spirit.

  • choicelady : Sally – I KNEW traditional spirituality would prevail! Whoo hoo!

  • kesmarn : OMG! Thanks, Sabreen! The thing that cracks me up is that guys like him despise working women and then repeatedly declare that two parent households are more affluent! Do the math, guys! Where’s that extra $$ coming from?

  • Sabreen60 : CL, I’m not sure.

  • SallyT : I have news for Sarah Palin, it isn’t God whispering to her. It is my ancient forefather, Chief FuckyouRepugs telling her to run. Than he will send all the Democrats from the campfire as Buffalos to run her down.

  • choicelady : SAbreen – I read some of that about McDonnell. Isn’t he a Regent University grad? Creepy.

  • AdLib : KQ -Well, even though Romney is likely, the Baggers have pushed him far over to the right compared to where he was in 2008. If he wins the nom and loses to Obama, I think they hit the pedal to the metal in 2016 and we get a real loon to easily beat. They’re going to think, “You GOP eElites failed in 2012, now it’s our turn!”

  • Sabreen60 : Oh, here’s the link: «link»

  • ChrisR266 : Kes, Bwaaaahahaa! Thanks. Some of the sights in our nation of late are truly arresting and certainly maldeveloped.

  • Sabreen60 : McDonnell claimed his views had changed, but Dems said not so. McDonnell’s thesis reveals what he really believes: Written two years before McDonnell’s election to the House of Delegates, the master’s thesis lays out his views that working women and feminists are “detrimental” to the family and that government policy should be weighted to couples over “cohabitators, homosexuals or fornicators.”

  • choicelady : ADLib – while it’s not a bad thing for reactionaries to get even more wicked nuts if Romney wins the nom and loses the election, what scares the living crapola out of me is what the extremists are willing to DO with their anger. These people are locked and loaded. I tangle with them here Monday March 5 when their MOST hated nemesis is in town to do a presentation and book signing. Frankly I’m scared. We will have to have armed guards in a church – it’s that bad.

  • kesmarn : Chris, that is totally on topic. Arrested development is what the Tea Party is all about!

  • ChrisR266 : Choice: WE agree. Exactly.

  • KQµårk 死神 : That’s exactly what will happen AdLib but remember that’s what they said in 2008 with McCain too.

  • ChrisR266 : All: Just for some comic relief… I’m watching a commercial advertising a new show on crazy obsessions, and the visual is a 6′ 30 some year old dude laying in an oversize crib, wearing an oversized onesie flannel footed sleeper, sucking on a pacifier… Damn.

  • AdLib : KQ – If Romney wins the nom as is most probable and loses…it could empower the radical right even more, insisting that the GOP Elite’s candidate lost them the Presidency so in 2016, they demand a radical for the nom!

  • SallyT : Paul would settle down if Romney choose his son to run as VP.

  • choicelady : Chris – whatever God lives in Sarah’s mind. I’m always reluctant to discuss “your god, my god” and move us right into polytheism, but Sarah has her own, no doubt about it.

  • kesmarn : Oh great, Sabreen! Another one!

  • KQµårk 死神 : I have a real problem with Romney winning because he is a lie in all aspects of the word. He’s like the Dems nominating Ben Nelson just to try and win the middle. If I was a conservative I would literally go apeshit over Romney being the standard barer for the so called Tea Party movement.

  • choicelady : KQ – I’m not so sure Romney would win a brokered convention. With Paul going around slurping up delgates from caucus states like a drunk tippling the leftover wine at a party, he might be slimy enough to pull it out. But he has nothing now. I just cannot foretell how this will work. And AdLib – I do think Jeb et al. are too sane for this GOP. And Christie’s reluctance STILL makes me think he’s mobbed up – there is something too freaking weird about his reluctance. It stinks of East Coast “something-to-h ide” behavior.

  • Sabreen60 : Kes, he talked about fornication and the use of birth control; he was homophobic. I’ll see if I can find the link, but it essence he said the government needs to regulate our sex lives.

  • SallyT : Oh, yah? God told Perry and Bachmann that they should run, too. If He is telling Palin to run now, well, He is playing another joke on them! God is a Democrat!

  • kesmarn : Apparently a different God from the one who told Herman Cain to run.

  • ChrisR266 : Choice: Which “God?”

  • AdLib : Cl – God told Michele Bachmann to run too…he’s a real kidder!

  • KQµårk 死神 : Ironically they only have a chance AdLib if Santorum wins the nomination and loses the GE.

  • choicelady : Chris – Sarah would not listen to mere mortals. God’s talkin’ to her now.

  • AdLib : What’s amusing to me is that Jeb Bush and others who held off running this year, thinking they’d run in 2016, actually think they’d have a chance in a radicalized GOP. Their days may be over and they may not even know it!

  • kesmarn : Sabreen, what was McDonnell saying back then?

  • ChrisR266 : Sarah Palin will never, EVER, be President of the U.S. NEVER. Someone needs to tell her that.

  • choicelady : kes – yes, her reception at CPAC did a huge number on her ego! She was the only one to get a standing ovation, and it has gone to her fevered brain. Sally – those emails are all “in the past” and just “media attempts to ruin her” so she dismisses her own words. Must be nice. That’s what happens when you’re born again – nothing counts.

  • kesmarn : I think she has something like a 17% approval rating. But the people who like her would fight Tigers bare-handed for her.

  • KQµårk 死神 : AdLib I think at this point it’s a good chance no one candidate gets enough delegates to win so it has to be a brokered convention. But in the end Romney will get it.

  • Sabreen60 : CL, I believe you about Sarah. She continuously talks about a brokered convention. BTW, McDonnell of VA has been crazy all his adult life. He wants to be VP, but I read stuff he wrote in 1989 and he was nuts then.

  • choicelady : ADLib – I saw an interview with her, forget where, and our ally, Leah Burton dug dirt. It’s for sure true. She’s really sure this is God’s call. She can’t distinguish it from the other noises in her head, but she’s positive this is her call to be Prez.

  • kesmarn : c’lady, her speech at C-PAC hinted at that. Palin still thinks she can pull it off. Pull it ALL off.

  • ChrisR266 : Choice: Para Salin is PREYING, you have that right.

  • SallyT : Even after those emails, CL? Those saying she had had it as Governor of Alaska and couldn’t take it anymore?

  • AdLib : Does anyone here think there would be a brokered convention nominating someone other than Santorum or Romney?

  • KQµårk 死神 : I mean don’t the double digit swings in the polls alone show that none of these GOP candidates are electable. Even after the whole Rev Wright thing with Obama the polls never swung more than a few points.

  • kesmarn : Yes, Chris. Those jeans look like they were supplied by a costume designer… and those plaid shirts. You know he has to hate those.

  • AdLib : CL – Really? Love it, where did you hear that about Palin?

  • choicelady : Everyone – y’all DO know that Sarah is back praying (preying?) for a brokered convention in which she will emerge triumphant? Seriously. I am being really serious here. She does think that.

  • AdLib : KQ – Right now, I think MI is still a tossup. Even if Mitt wins by a few, he looks bad and weak. All depends if the moderate voters show up as strongly as the Baggers who are nuts for Santorum. That gives Santorum a bit of an edge, a better advantage than polls reflect. Though, by the time of the election, he may have declined too far.

  • KQµårk 死神 : You know what the REAL ironic part is. The Netherlands has a hugely privatized healthcare system now.

  • ChrisR266 : Kes: Romney doesn’t know how to have a real conversation. He is socially disfunctional, to be kind. Damn, the man can’t even figure out how to wear a pair of jeans properly.

  • SallyT : I don’t see Santorum winning.

  • choicelady : KQ – I suspect that yes, Mittens will win MI.

  • kesmarn : I don’t think Romney has ever had a real conversation in his entire life with a non-multi-millio naire. He has absolutely no idea how offensively elitist he is every minute of every day.

  • KQµårk 死神 : So AdLib do you think Mittens wins MI now? I think he trashed Santorum and Santorum has been exposed.

  • SallyT : Me, too, KQ! It was like how can you insult that country like that you aHole! He talked like a nut and the crowd was responding to him!

  • choicelady : kes – there is no wrong answer! These people are beyond nuts. There is not a shred of sense or logic or policy or concern for the American working families in ANY of them.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Sally it made me sick to my stomach.

  • choicelady : Chris – ALL of them!!!

  • kesmarn : I vote Clusterfluck!

  • choicelady : kes – I saw the signs and two rows of cars in a parking garage on the roof, each bearing one letter of that slogan. It was VERY cool!

  • ChrisR266 : How many of the following apply to the GOP candidate season rightnow? Clusterfluck? FUBAR? SNAFU? All of them?

  • SallyT : KQ, wasn’t that something on Rachel tonight. It is embarrassing that other countries think we are nuts!

  • kesmarn : And that stadium was practically surrounded by UAW workers holding signs that said: “Romney: ‘Let Detroit Go Bankrupt.'”

  • choicelady : KQ – ahhh, the retreat of a true politician. Blame the staff. Will he bomb Iran and blame his staff? Kill ACA, Medicare, Social Security and blame his staff? Yes.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Hiya Sabreen!

  • SallyT : Good Evening there, Sabreen!

  • AdLib : Hey Sabreen!

  • KQµårk 死神 : All empty suits to listen to an empty suit. And then Romney blamed it on his staff. What a loser.

  • choicelady : Hey Sabreen! Great to see you!

  • ChrisR266 : Oh, Hello Sabreen!

  • kesmarn : Hey, Sabreen!

  • SallyT : KQ, yep, about that many there!

  • KQµårk 死神 : The crowd looked like they were only the 1% too.

  • Sabreen60 : Hi good folks!

  • choicelady : kes – I’m not surprised about Kaptur on Keystone, but I think she will see reason.

  • ChrisR266 : Santorum has run off the rails, folks. He’s going for broke now that he has a microphone pointed at him. He will not stop until the mike moves away from him and back to Romney. He’s just going to spew crazy.

  • AdLib : His wife should have driven him to the stage with her two Cadillacs.

  • KQµårk 死神 : kes that was so weird to repeat it again.

  • choicelady : KQ – that stadium crowd was a hoot! Eclectablog had photos and even the 1200 chairs in the middle had about 1/3 empty so it was more like 800 people. In a stadium that holds 65,000. What brain thought THAT was a great venue??

  • kesmarn : What is UP with Mitt’s tree fixation?

  • KQµårk 死神 : CL :O MG God I saw that on Rachel. How embarrassing.

  • SallyT : KQ, he looked smaller than he is in there. Bad set up.

  • AdLib : KQ – Romney had though about renting two stadiums, this was a compromise.

  • ChrisR266 : KQ: He still likes those trees that aren’t too tall…

  • kesmarn : Weirdly, though, Kaptur is PRO Keystone pipeline because of the jobs prospect. I was surprised by that one.

  • choicelady : KQ – one does wonder. Sally just pointed out that Saintorum said tonight that the Dutch euthanize their old. The Dutch are FURIOUS. See? You are right – not human.

  • KQµårk 死神 : What about Romney’s speech to the 1% filled stadium today?

  • choicelady : And to round out the Wiz of Oz theme – NONE has courage. They all have bravado and bluster, but not courage. Kes – glad Kaptur did the right thing on the contraception issue. I LIKE her!

  • ChrisR266 : Evening, KQ

  • KQµårk 死神 : I question if either are human at this point

  • AdLib : Hey KQ!

  • choicelady : KQ – we were just discussing whether Santorum has a brain and Joe the Plumber (running for Congress) has a heart.

  • kesmarn : Yes, c’lady, and she was cool with Obama’s solution on the birth control thing, so she’s reasonable. And HEY, KQ!

  • SallyT : KQ, you have been “Now you see me. Now you don’t.” Glad you are now here.

  • choicelady : KQ! Great to see you! We saw you up there in the balcony. Glad you came down.

  • AdLib : Kes – That’s hilarious, Joe running against Kaptur or Kucinich!

  • KQµårk 死神 : Sup Vox Pop peeps?

  • choicelady : kes – well then, we have no worries. Plug can’t beat eithr of them. I am STILL rooting for Kaptur, and I know she’s not prochoice, but she’s everything ELSE good.

  • SallyT : CL, I don’t hear one.

  • choicelady : Sally – does he have a heartbeat?

  • kesmarn : Yes, kids. Joe will run against either Marcy Kaptur or D. Kucinich.

  • SallyT : Joe the Plumber is Joe the Plugged Drain to me.

  • choicelady : Sally – what’s Plug like in person? Do tell!

  • choicelady : kes! Cain endorsing Joe? OMG!!!! Joe can’t even make a simple declarative sentence! Yikes! but then Randall Terry (Operation Rescue) is running for President and is on the OK ballot. Lord spare us all.

  • SallyT : Ah, I met Plugged

  • SallyT : Kes, does Joe the Blugged drain have a chance?

  • choicelady : kes – it’s a sin to believe in anything but aspirin between the knees accordint to Saintorum.

  • choicelady : Sally! Thank you! They keep saying we should be deluged in March, but… It rained on us this past weekend in Fort Bragg but not in the Valley at all. Dry,dry, dry.

  • SallyT : CL, I am concerned about the House and Senate, too. But, I think people out there are scared of the nuts in there and maybe won’t want anymore. It would be nice if we could get the House and Senate again but with enough to get pass the filabuster.

  • AdLib : Hi Kes! Man, Two hacks for the price of one, Cain and Unable To Win.

  • ChrisR266 : Kes: Oh, you’re kidding, really? Jeasus.

  • kesmarn : I knew something was smelly up here in NW Ohio. Herman Cain is here endorsing Joe the Plumber for congress. Bleaghhhhh. The 2 of them together is just too much.

  • SallyT : CL, it has rained all week here in Portland. Of course that is nothing new but I am trying to send it down to you.’

  • ChrisR266 : Sally: I agree. The more whack-a-crazy the GOP rhetoric and tactics at the state level gets, the more it seems to be closing doors for them at supersonic rates.

  • kesmarn : c’lady…we’ve had the wettest year ever in 2011 in Ohio. Feast or famine it seems. But it’s a sin to believe in climate change according to St. Richard Santorum.

  • choicelady : Sally – I do think it will be Obama, but I’m very worried about the Senate and House. Those are essential. OK is very hopeful – two Dems won when only one had a prayer – so maybe people are fed up with Baggers, Dominionists, and stupid rich boys?

  • SallyT : I think that Obama will poll higher once they have their candidate. Then the independents will choose a side. I am pretty sure it will be Obama.

  • choicelady : kes and Chris – could you reverse nature and send some rain OUR way in CA? We already have fires in Napa Valley from how dry it is.

  • kesmarn : We got mostly rain and wind, Chris. A few flurries but nothing stuck. COLD though now!

  • AdLib : CL and Chris – 3/4 of states need to approve an amendment but it can originate from them or Congress with a 2/3 vote in Congress which would send it to the states for votes and the 3/4 would apply.

  • choicelady : kes, darling! How ARE you? Sally – wasn’t it you who also took a tumble? How are the PPOV “fallen women” tonight?

  • ChrisR266 : Good evening to you, Kes. Snowy up there?

  • kesmarn : Good Friday evening, my peeps.

  • choicelady : Chris – birth control as youth issue? You betcha! (As someone or other used to say…)

  • choicelady : Chris – yes. I was trying to read Article V and type at the same time. That’s what I was trying to say.

  • AdLib : Sally – The methodology of a head-to-head poll would be like this, “If the two candidates in a Presidential election were Barack Obama and Rick Santorum, who would you vote for?” In such a question, it’s doubtful a Romney supporter would say, “Obama”. So, for what they’re worth at this point, they mainly reflect Obama’s strength. He’s been pounded in a one-sided series of 20 debates, most news is about the Repubs and even in a difficult economy, he’s beating them in polls. He really shouldn’t be doing so well at this point so once he is engaged, I think his lead will be strong and stronger.

  • choicelady : Chris – I see no movement for a convention other than from the CA Dem doofus. A whole lot of us (Common Cause, Public Citizen, CalPIRG, etc.) are REALLY opposed to this issue he has just raised. I think it’s DOA in the state therefore pretty much DOA everywhere.

  • ChrisR266 : Choice: As I can understand it, amendments can originate in Congress. it is 3/4 of all states to ratify.

  • ChrisR266 : And, I hope the DNC and Obama campaign are taking note: you want to mobilize the youth vote? Just remind them that one party is bound and determined to take away their access to birth control. I can attest–it’ll do the trick.

  • choicelady : ADLib – I thought a CA had to get 3/4 of the states always? I know both houses can put it forward with 2/3 but there have to be 3/4 of the state to ratify it. I don’t think we always do call a Convention to propose an amendment do we? We did not with the Equal Rights Amendment.

  • ChrisR266 : Choice and AdLib: Actually, I think the better timing for conventions would be after the election. Is the thinking that conventions before the election would disrupt GOP momentum?

  • SallyT : AdLib, I understand that but I think those that are for their guy aren’t going to vote for the other one because they don’t want the other to show better against Obama. Just my thoughts, tho.

  • choicelady : Chirs – SCOTUS did not take on MT yet but is eager to. I do not understand the jargon, but even if the swing vote, Kennedy, changes, there is some arcane rule where the four dissenters (original majority members) might STILL prevail. It is interesting, but I’m not too hopeful.

  • AdLib : Sally – I don’t know that the polls would be different if only one Repub was in the running, they poll head to head match ups, not Obama against all at once. I do agree that polls are not massively important now, Obama has hardly begun his campaign and though the half billion or more SuperPACS will be spending to slander and destroy him will have an effect, so will the exposing of Romney or Santorum for who they really are. And the debates will seal the deal on ROmney/Santorum as fools and liars.

  • SallyT : Until we can get more liberal on that court, I hate to get them upset. Those judges are pretty scary and spitful if you ask me.

  • choicelady : AdLib – well, that IS a relief on the polls. Do not know where that came from. My heart rate is back to normal, thank you!

  • AdLib : Chris – In order to pass an Constitutional Amendment, either Congress can give it 2/3 votes first or the states can originate it. One way to do that is for states to have a Constitutional Conventions.

  • SallyT : Until they know for sure who is running against Obama, how can any poll be correct. Wouldn’t the votes be spread out or too many not saying?

  • ChrisR266 : Back in a moment…

  • AdLib : CL – Just checked RCP and no poll there shows Santorum ahead. There is one outlier showing Obama ahead by 1 but all the rest show an average of 6-7%. Check it out here: «link»

  • ChrisR266 : Choice: Well, I guess we can’t expect all the doofus to cram itself into one political party, yes? LOL.

  • choicelady : Chris – typical bozo. We have a joint resolution to call for a Constitutional Amendment against Citizens United – and this guy thinks calling for a Convention would have more “credibility”. DOOFUS.

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib: But, the SCOTUS just took Montana’s law out of the equation, didn’t they?

  • AdLib : Chris – I was thinking of that when I wrote my last comment, when a Bush comes out to say you’re destroying the GOP, that’s about as low as you can go!

  • choicelady : ADLib – I hope not. I just heard one, but not the source, this evening. Freaking creeped me OUT.

  • ChrisR266 : Choice: Now why in hell would the apparatus do something like that? That’s just stupid.

  • choicelady : Sally and AdLib – oh lordy I hope you’re right. These people are the worst since Joe “Tailgunner” McCarthy.

  • AdLib : CL – No reliable poll has Santorum anywhere close to Obama.

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib: Yeah, but as it became clear yesterday with Jeb Bush’s comments, they think they’ll survive as a party after this election. I’d rather we put them to rest once and for all.

  • SallyT : They sure are digging a deep hole for the Repugs.

  • AdLib : CL – A Constitutional convention would be one of the ways an amendment could be passed to end Citizen’s United though.

  • choicelady : ADLib – I know the polls usually put Obama ahead of these guys, but some have Obama neck and neck with Santorum. SANTORUM!!!!

  • choicelady : Chris – we just learned that one of our Assembly members is calling for a Constitutional Convention nationally. He’s a Dem. And I’m going to march into his office and say – with these wingnuts running loose are you INSANE????? They think everything in the Bill of Rights has to GO. So yeah – higher ed “indoctrinates ” by telling the TRUTH about things. Like the world is round and not the center of the galaxy.

  • AdLib : Folks, in the big picture, isn’t it a good thing that Santorum and Romney are so poisoning the GOP that they have little chance of beating Obama in a GE?

  • SallyT : I sware, if either of them become President, I am leaving!

  • SallyT : Well, I think they both need those white jackets with the long sleeves.

  • choicelady : Sally – I think Newt is certifiably insane. I don’t mean it in a snark kind of way but for real. I am beginning to think Santorum is as well – delusional.

  • ChrisR266 : On another note, today was the first day I really got angry about Santorum’s verbal projectile vomiting. He just went too far talking about Higher Ed. “indoctrinating ” kids and using that totally bogus 62% number. Man, I just went ballistic!

  • SallyT : Yep, those that protest to much are you know………

  • choicelady : Sally – he does seem the “closet” type, one way or ‘tother.

  • SallyT : CL, I bet Santorum has porn mags in his closet.

  • choicelady : Sally – oooohh just had a horrible thought: what if his kids are those you see on milk cartons? Do we KNOW his wife gave birth? We know she had an abortion, however…

  • AdLib : CL – Well, since Santorum is a hypocrite, it was necessary for him to go to college before condemning it.

  • ChrisR266 : Choice and Sally: If this is a sacrifice, then I’ll make it lent all year long. We’re lucky to have a steak house near us which receives fresh fish shipments every morning. Tonight’s lobsters were Thursday’s catch, and they’re priced to bring in the Catholics on Fridays during lent.

  • choicelady : Sally – he’s so anti-sex I think we should all demand a DNA paternity test on his kids.

  • SallyT : CL, probably all the other students there thought he was nuts and he couldn’t get a date either I bet.

  • choicelady : Chris – I never understood the problem with ‘giving up meat for Lent’ since there are such delicious fish dishes. Doesn’t seem like penance.

  • SallyT : Sounds good to me, Chris! I haven’t had lobster in such a long time!

  • ChrisR266 : Not a bad choice for a lenten friday dinner, ‘eh?

  • choicelady : AdLib – Santorum went to college, didn’t he? What’s freaking un-Christian about that?

  • choicelady : Chris – good for you! Maybe not so much for the lobster, but that sounds yummy.

  • SallyT : I know CL. It is scary. Than you read those articles that Kalima and Khirad posted about how people see us in the middle east because of these nuts at the debates!

  • AdLib : Santorum would be far more dangerous if he wasn’t such an obvious nutjob. Now it’s anti-Christian to go to college???

  • ChrisR266 : Choice, I am dandy. Had Lobster for dinner tonight, so, as it all stacks up, life is pretty good.

  • choicelady : Chris – it was in the 70s here again. It’s creepy – too much like April or May for this time of year. NO rain, about 1/3 of normal. Scary.

  • ChrisR266 : Evening AdLib. Hope life is treating you well.

  • choicelady : Sally – this man is SO dangerous! He’s also incredibly creepy but people still have him strong in the polls. Yikes!

  • ChrisR266 : Hi Choice! Ohioland is damned cold, windy, and getting sick of it all already, ha.

  • SallyT : Hello Chris!

  • choicelady : Chris – SHOULD have asked first – how are YOU?

  • AdLib : Hey Chris!

  • SallyT : I know, CL, he is about to start an international incedent.

  • choicelady : Chris! How is the land of snow and ice and Republicans?

  • ChrisR266 : Good evening fair ladies and gents!

  • SallyT : He said old people there were afraid to go to the hospital. The gentlemen from there was laughing but said that it really wasn’t funny!

  • choicelady : Sally – wow – he makes Sarah Palin look sane. And that’s saying something! Who thought anyone could trump her?

  • choicelady : AdLib – that’s hilarious! Arianna as a prop I mean – not Santorum’s lie!

  • SallyT : Santorum was trying to say that if we have nationized healthcare we will kill old people.

  • SallyT : Rachel had a gentlemen from there that said it was ridiculous!

  • choicelady : Sally – that’s what I figured. Does this man know NOTHING of the Ninth Commandment – not bearing false witness? Well what can you expect from a “Christian” who give ONE percent of his income to charity? So much for the tithe…

  • SallyT : Santorum said that the old there have to wear braclets that say, “Please don’t euthanize me.”

  • AdLib : CL – It’s from a comment I posted in TOOT. I received an email that they have slashed ticket prices to see Arianna speak here in LA and mentioned she is for sale again but at bargain basement prices. I bought one to level out the uneven leg of my coffee table.

  • SallyT : They don’t and the Dutch are asking for this to be cleared up.

  • choicelady : Sally – WTF? Since when do the Dutch do that? Big difference with Right to Die. Bastard!

  • SallyT : I told you, AdLib to get a cement block!

  • choicelady : Since I know nothing of the Huffington Prop, do tell?

  • SallyT : Well, she was showing this clip of Santorum giving a talk to a group of people about the Dutch euthanizing the old there.

  • AdLib : CL – Yep, and she has a baseball game tomorrow morning…early! Sally – the table with Huffington propping it up just flipped upside down.

  • choicelady : Sally – no, I missed Rachel – we were out to dinner til almost Vox time.

  • SallyT : Cl, did you watch Rachel Maddow tonight?

  • SallyT : I thought maybe that table with the Huffington leg fell with all the chips on it and you, AdLib, had to go get more.

  • choicelady : AdLib – your daugher is an ALL STAR? How incredibly cool! Must take after BOTH her great parents!

  • SallyT : And, if you get to the top, you have to scholl again.

  • AdLib : They lost by 2 points. But it was an “all star” game so not a lot of money on the line.

  • choicelady : Sally – I do a lot of pounding on this machine.

  • SallyT : I know. If you scroll you can never get back to the top!

  • choicelady : ADLib – how’d they do?

  • choicelady : Sally – I always read you, too. Tho on Vox, sometimes it goes so fast I miss things. Scrolling is NOT something my mouse does well. (That’s right – blame the mouse…)

  • AdLib : Just got home from my daughter’s basketball game, 5 minutes here from the park!

  • SallyT : Sure hope that B wasn’t for me!

  • SallyT : CL, you are one of the few that get me! But, I alway read you!

  • choicelady : AdLib – you’re down to syllables? Musta been a hard day!

  • choicelady : Sally – I’ve never known you to say anything that wasn’t worth reading!

  • AdLib : B

  • AdLib : Hey! Sorry for the delay!

  • SallyT : It was just KQ, AdLib and me for the last hour last week. I just sat here and read the two of them. Once in awhile I would add something not worth the type.

  • choicelady : on the other hand…booze is not a bad lure.

  • choicelady : I am beginning to understand that if you’re logged into PPOV at all, you show up on Vox. Anyone could be anywhere.

  • SallyT : Is FC just waiting until we bring out the booze?

  • choicelady : WEll! We will have a word with KQ! Funk was on one night with just me, I had to sign off briefly, and he kept the conversation going between him and himeself, and it was masterful. Think how much more fun with KQ and you?

  • choicelady : I just saw he’d reconnected. I was having trouble tonight – had to clear the cache AGAIN even though I did it last time I was on. Technology bites.

  • SallyT : That darn KQ was on here and saw it was just me and left!

  • SallyT : Cl, there you are with the answer before I get the question out.

  • choicelady : He’s b-a-a-a-c-k.

  • SallyT : Well, where is he??

  • choicelady : Sally – looks as if AdLib ran out for ice?

  • choicelady : Now that’s a much more fun job. Just so no one asks you to wash the dishes? AdLib is good about clean up on his own. Good host, he.

  • SallyT : Nah, not yet. But I am usually the one that helps put out the lights.

  • choicelady : Sally – that’s why people are “fashionably late” to parties. Otherwise you get to help set up, and who needs that? Hope no one asked you to stuff the canapes tonight?

  • SallyT : Wow, thanks CL, I was starting to feel like I should have waited until last as usual.

  • choicelady : Hi Sally, AdLib, and foodchain – good to see everyone!

  • SallyT : Okay, I thought I would be first instead of last tonight.

  • AdLib : Don’t forget to say “hi” when you arrive!

  • AdLib : Vox Populi, our live chat about the week’s events begins tonight at 7 pm PST! Hope to see you then!
