• SallyT : Night Patsy.

  • AdLib : Sounds good, sleep well Sally!

  • AdLib : Night Patsy!

  • SallyT : Good night AdLib. Catch you on the turn around.

  • PatsyT : Thanks and nighty night…

  • AdLib : Hmm…we must’ve run out of beer early tonight! Well, it would seem like a good time to wrap Vox Populi for tonight. Thanks to all for a very spirited and fun discussion. Have a great weekend Patsy and Sally! Hope to see you next week!

  • PatsyT : Nighty Night to the sleepy

  • AdLib : Night Kes!

  • kesmarn : G’night AD and Sabreen. I think I will make that three. It’s nearly 1 a.m. here. Have a great weekend!

  • AdLib : Nite AD! Nite Sabreen!

  • ADONAI : jinx

  • AdLib : Night Chris!

  • Sabreen60 : Good nite Chris, I’m right behind you. Good night folks, take care of yourselves.

  • kesmarn : That would have been newsworthy, AD. What actually happened…well. ..wasn’t.

  • ADONAI : Nite Chris! I’m following him out. Good night folks. Peace be with you.

  • kesmarn : Good night, Chris. Have a great weekend.

  • ADONAI : Oh. She didn’t actually scale the train and rescue it? That would have been bad ass.

  • AdLib : Chris, when I’m in a masochistic mindset, I do pop in on HP and they seem just as hateful as ever but there does seem to be more confusion. They’re not sure what to foul so they just foul everything.

  • ChrisR266 : Well folks, I must call it an evening. My best to you all.

  • kesmarn : The train was indeed moving, AD, when the plucky woman spotted the puppy. After she bravely called 911, the puppy was rescued after the train stopped. And the nation was safe once more.

  • ADONAI : Al, i believe the people answered that question in 2004. It was apparently a yes.

  • AdLib : Though I winced at the comparison, I can see how Mitt could be the GOP’s John Kerry in 2012. Now, Kerry was slimed and was not a flip flopper or any of the Swift Boat garbage thrown at him but what I mean is that Kerry was perceived as elitist, distant, verbose, paternal and not someone you could warm up to. Match up Romney and Obama on the likeability factor alone and Romney is trounced. Then, with his “give the wealthy more and the 99% less” flat tax plan he’s flip flopping into next week (yep, he’s already said he’s tossing away his big tax plan to chase after the flat tax plans of Cain and Perry), who the hell except hardcore Repubs want four more years of the year we’re going through now?

  • ADONAI : Wait. was the train moving?

  • PatsyT : OK I’ll look for it.

  • kesmarn : Patsy, the last hard hitting MSM story I saw was about a woman who rescued a puppy from the top of a freight train.

  • SallyT : Patsy, that would be a good one for 60 mins.

  • ADONAI : Patsy, The Patio

  • ADONAI : You mean when are poor journalists going to expose poor journalism? Never.

  • Sabreen60 : Chris, I noticed that at Bloomberg, Politico (of course), the Daily Beast and The Hill. The comments are unbelievable. I even tweeted Jonathan Alter after reading comments posted to his article and asked him how he could continue to write at Bloomberg.

  • PatsyT : Ha, AD What group?

  • PatsyT : When is the MSM going to do a story exposing the paid troll phenomenon ?

  • ChrisR266 : Patsy: I agree. I’d pay good money to see it.

  • kesmarn : Chris, it’s been so long since I’ve been to HP. What’s their current obsession?

  • ChrisR266 : AD: I know. I have been a student of that contest. That is the point.

  • ADONAI : I got forced into a Facebook group.

  • ChrisR266 : I know this haven is a safe harbor for many disaffected HPers, but I would suggest that you pop in there and into other haunts like politico from time to time. The troll rhetoric has become schizophrenic and strident, almost beyond the pale.

  • ADONAI : Good point sally.

  • SallyT : Truman wasn’t popular but the people were to afraid to make a change at that time. Korea and such.

  • ADONAI : That’s where I give Obama the big edge too. He can debate. Well. Very well. Can read an audience instantly and tailor his message appropriately. I got much respect for his political skills.

  • ADONAI : He did Chris. Just barely. It was considered a huge upset. Truman, I think, wasn’t uber popular at the time.

  • Sabreen60 : Yeah, but Cain is dressed in a church choir rode singing about making money. The Bible refers to him as a “money changer”.

  • PatsyT : Yes Chris I want to see him have the nerve to tell the Pres he is week on international affairs

  • kesmarn : OOps…«link» w.youtube.com/wa tch?NR=1&v=0vPdx _uvp_I

  • kesmarn : Patsy, if you want to hear more Cain crooning, here’s one that was meant to go right to the hearts of the religious right.

  • ChrisR266 : ADONAI: And, despite the corporate media predicting Dewey, I think Truman still has the heart of the nation.

  • ADONAI : again I agree Chris. Completely

  • ADONAI : I have one thing to say about sure things: Dewey Defeats Truman. the roles are reversed but you get what I’m saying.

  • PatsyT : Where is the one with the girly dancers in the background?

  • ChrisR266 : Ad: I cannot wait for the debate between Romney and Obama. I can’t wait for the debate between any one of them and Obama. He’ll rip them limb from limb.

  • PatsyT : That man can sing a bit … I’ll give him that

  • AdLib : AD – On any given day, any team could beat another. It depends on the conditions and how well they play that day. I think that Romney doesn’t have a deep bench, just the opposite, he has a very shallow one. Obama however has a deep bench and so many skills to call upon. Yes, Romney could beat Obama theoretically but if you stacked the two men up like sports teams, I think the smart money would be on Obama. Especially if things keep improving as they have the last few months.

  • kesmarn : That’s hilarious. Well, his voice isn’t too bad…. :-(

  • ChrisR266 : Adonai: These house whores bet the House on social wedge issues that don’t fly when there’s 9+% unemployment. They also don’t fly when people begin to realize that what political dogma they offer is oppressive, divisive, and counter to a thriving society. We have the perfect storm approaching, and these idiots just refuse to see it.

  • Sabreen60 : AD, If you believe that Romney COULD beat Pres. Obama, that’s not saying much for the American people. How do you know what to believe re Romney? He’s taken a zazillion positions on each issue. He doesn’t have two faces, it’s more like five.

  • ADONAI : Oh yes I di-id!

  • PatsyT : Oh no you didn’t .. ADONAI !

  • ADONAI : «link»

  • SallyT : Or pizza breath, AdLib.

  • Sabreen60 : Cain reminds me of Clarence Thomas. And I hate to say this, but his wife seems like she better not breath to hard in his presence.

  • ADONAI : I agree Chris. The House’s poll numbers across the board are abysmal.

  • ChrisR266 : Sabreen: The House will be Democratic again. We will have Nancy back. Whew.

  • AdLib : Cain’s ad wil be used as a public service announcement in the future to warn children about getting into a car with a man offering them candy…or cigarettes.

  • ADONAI : Romney could beat Obama. Not saying would, just saying could.

  • ChrisR266 : And, let’s be real. the GOPTEA will never elevate a black man to the nomination for President. It’s just not going to happen. And that is exactly why the party is dying.

  • kesmarn : Oops. I meant the RR (religious right) not RW.

  • ADONAI : Al, i think the all consuming need to remove Obama from office will eventually compel people to vote Romney.

  • kesmarn : I suspect the RW is still leaning toward Perry. He uses the dog whistle buzz words.

  • PatsyT : They need to superimpose a playground in that ad

  • Sabreen60 : Chris, sure hope you’re right. We’ve got to hold the Senate and take by the House.

  • kesmarn : Patsy, that ad alone was enough to sink Cain. Ne’mind all the silly things he has said.

  • AdLib : Romney is certainly the most likely to win…but so was Hillary and Giuliani four years ago. If I was betting today, I would say Romney but the Baggers got loons on the ballot in 2010, until we see what happens with the turnout at the actual primaries, we just won’t know. There is the possibility that when Repubs get in the booth, they just can’t vote for Romney because they don’t trust him. If that happens, who knows?

  • ChrisR266 : Patsy: I agree. We were looking at a lecher at the end of that ad.

  • ADONAI : Damn

  • PatsyT : Oh Yeah

  • ADONAI : It looks that sleazy?

  • PatsyT : That Ad looked like Cain and his smoker buddies are at the strip club checking out the new 13 year old poll dancers

  • ChrisR266 : eeek! will lose the majority. they’re going to lose just about everything they own. The economic turn around is surfacing and all the hold back in spending by corporations is not going to stop it. The GOP is in deep shit trouble.

  • ADONAI : Two things that are not certain. Romney winning the nomination and Obama winning the general. I think he will but the polling lately is so weird.

  • kesmarn : Patsy…kitty porn with genuine felines! And that guy is smoking catnip.

  • Sabreen60 : Romney will get the nomination. He’s the only one who has a snowball’s chance in hell in the general.

  • ADONAI : Indeed

  • AdLib : Ad – That’s why I ask it!

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib: I truly believe the GOP

  • PatsyT : YES kes! and I think it’s kitty porn!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : A GOP ACTIVIST who is a friend had this to say about Topic 2. He asked me a question: “What will it take for Obama to get a second term?” I bit and said: “What?” He frowned and answered: “KEEP BREATHING.” My friend and his friend expect Romney to be the default nominee and to lose the election.

  • AdLib : Chris – True but if the Repubs lose the majority, they will be howling in pain…while sane people sigh and party.

  • ChrisR266 : Let’s see… The reality is that all these folks have to consider whether or not they’re willing to hang their butts out there and get defeated next year. Gingrich will never be President. NEVER. Santorum hasn’t a snowball’s chance in hell.

  • ADONAI : I saw that sabreen. They are going up.

  • SallyT : They said on Real Time tonight that Cain looks like he just had sex and the other guy is lighting up.

  • Sabreen60 : AD, President Obama’s approval numbers went up 4 points before his announcement about Iraq.

  • kesmarn : Patsy, too funny. And the smoking guy looks like the porn supplier.

  • ADONAI : RON PAUL!!!!!!!!

  • ADONAI : If he were looking at porn my personal approval ratings for him would soar.

  • kesmarn : AdLib, what about Ron Paul?

  • PatsyT : I’m sorry but that Cain Commercial looks like he is looking at porn

  • ADONAI : Romney? Maybe

  • ADONAI : You could ask that question every week Al and I could have a different answer.

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib: further, Boehner, McConnell, Ryan, and the establishment think they are so ensconced in their districts that they’ll weather this storm.

  • AdLib : “NEXT” that is…

  • AdLib : NEST TOPIC: WHO IS GOING TO WIN THE DOOFUS OLYMPICS…I MEAN THE GOP NOMINATION FOR PRESIDENT? ROMNEY WAS THRASHED THIS WEEK OVER HIS FLIP FLOPPING ON PROP 2 IN OH, PERRY SUNK DEEPER WITH BIRTHERISM AND FLAT TAX PLAN AND CAIN’S CREEPY COMMERCIAL HAS MADE HIM A LAUGHING STOCK. IS IT NEWT’S OR SANTORUM’S TURN TO BE AT THE TOP? CAN ROMNEY WIN THE NOM AND PRESIDENCY WHEN EVEN 70% OF REPUBS DON’T LIKE HIM?

  • ADONAI : Cain is the Tea Party kid right now

  • kesmarn : I saw that, Sally. The T-Bags are dumping Bachmann. In favor of whom?? Joe the Plumber?

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib: Aw come on, don’t be so naive. We don’t see the polls because these dudes are off the curb and in the traffic. The numbers are so bad for them it borders on pathetic, and they’re out to wreak havoc until their asses are voted back into oblivion.

  • SallyT : They even told Bachmann to get out of the race.

  • ADONAI : Obama’s approval rating is low, that’s true. But more people favor his ideas over Republicans. odd polling.

  • PatsyT : I had to laugh today when one of the morning/day reporters on MSNBC was going on about the tea party as if they are relevant GEEZZ OWS is the story!

  • kesmarn : I’m told the Baggers in Congress are having great difficulty in fund-raising. Hand me a hanky….

  • ADONAI : Last poll I saw a majority of Americans blamed the House Republicans for our current state.

  • SallyT : No wonder I don’t have any money, AdLib. I can’t type fast enough to get that many words out.

  • AdLib : Sally, have you seen any polls asking people if they would or wouldn’t re-elect Baggers to Congress? They did polls all the time in 2010 about voting out the Dems, why am I not seeing such polls about voting out the Baggers? If such polls were out there, maybe they would get scared and consider compromising with Obama.

  • ChrisR266 : Kes: it is, I think.

  • kesmarn : Chris, gotcha. So this recruiting to run for office is on the level, then?

  • ADONAI : The Dems do have more people that actually care. I will agree on that.

  • ChrisR266 : State representatives/ assembly.

  • ChrisR266 : all: the Dems have never been any good at airing dogma because what they espouse is what most normal people understand as part of the social contract. OWS works for them because people outside begin to see that what they think about how the world works isn’t so horrible or outside of the mainstream.

  • SallyT : ADLib, I think the lid is already off the trash can for the TeaParty. They certainly haven’t gotten any attention but how bad those they put in office have turned out to be. And, that money has been behind them.

  • ADONAI : More people should run for office. i am a huge proponent of it.

  • AdLib : AD – I get paid by the word. ;-)

  • kesmarn : Oh…wow…I’m honored! And Chris — so that’s it!? This is an Ohio thing!? And yes, I’ve gotten them. And they don’t seem to be trying to sell me anything…

  • ADONAI : Whole lotta AdLib on my screen

  • AdLib : Chris – For what kind of office?

  • AdLib : Kes – No, why do you ask? Have you received emails asking if you want to run for office? I’d donate to your campaign!

  • ChrisR266 : Kes: I have received those e-mails. They are actively pursuing people in Ohio.

  • AdLib : Sally – That’s a big deal to me. The Tea Party started out as a fraud and continues to be one. It has never been supported by a majority of Americans as OWS is and its destructive agenda is now clear to Americans. It would be killing two birds with one stone both to have OWS push pols in 2012 to advance populist platforms and to have the Tea Party tossed into the trash heap of history in the process.

  • AdLib : Sabreen – Yes, the time will come for politicians to be connected with the OWS movement but I don’t think it needs to be in an explicit way. We all know what policies OWS would support, taxing the wealthy to provide what’s best for the 99%, restricting their money from influence in politics and their exploitation of the 99%. Politicians only need to consider if they want to support such measures and if they do, they would probably be able to count on the support of many in or sympathetic to OWS.

  • Sabreen60 : Adlib, When I said OWS has changed the conversation that’s part of what I meant. Until, now Repubs had controlled the conversation and Dems fell in line and the media pushed it. It was deficits 24/7. When I look at it as you presented it, OWS has a more concrete purpose. I know that people see the question of it’s purpose as a “negative”, but that question is being asked. I think you have answered it.

  • ADONAI : But is this a beginning or a means to an end? I think MLK’s biggest disappointment would be that many left the movement after the Civil Rights Act was finally enforced. They didn’t see it through. Will this one be different?

  • kesmarn : Speaking of politicians, has anyone else gotten emails from lefty groups asking you if you would consider running for office? And offering support and assistance?

  • SallyT : And, AdLib, to show that the TeaParty doesn’t speak for the majority. The numbers are with OWS.

  • AdLib : Sabreen – My proposition is, don’t think of OWS as an activist group. Think of it as an Activation Group. They are activating and connecting with people, inspiring them to snap out of their apathy and demand change. If all they accomplished was to establish a sensibility amongst most Americans that we need serious changes to the way the wealthy and corporations control our nation and economy, that we need to reverse the class warfare that has drained the majority of power and wealth, then you would have a voting public pushing candidates to follow them or be swept aside. Then substantial change could really come.

  • Sabreen60 : Hi Patsy!

  • Sabreen60 : This movement will have to involve politicians – whether on the local or national level. The Civil Rights movement started in the streets, but the government created, changed, and enforced the laws. Same with Vietnam.

  • ChrisR266 : Hi Patsy. I’ll BRB. Gotta satisfy an urgin’

  • kesmarn : As long as you’re not crawling the site, Patsy…

  • ADONAI : Hello Patsy!

  • PatsyT : have

  • PatsyT : Hi Guys! I ahve been lurking and reading

  • ChrisR266 : AD:AND, that is radically opposed to the usurping of the TEA Party by the deep cover GOP operatives. Once that became systematic and frequent, the aura disintegrated.

  • kesmarn : Hey, Patsy!

  • AdLib : Hey Patsy!!!

  • PatsyT : Notice the tea party had all kinds of paid “leaders” doing the talking for them on MSM

  • AdLib : Murph – Nothing like a revolution to make you feel young again.

  • Sabreen60 : I think OWS has helped to change the conversation, no doubt about it. If it evolves into a movement that makes concrete political changes then I wonder about outcomes.

  • ADONAI : Dems provided tools. Voters used them. Group effort.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Getting late…..more tired than I thought….getti ng old…do I have it in my bones to bear another rising? We will see.

  • AdLib : Chris – Exactly. All the know it all pundits criticized OWS for not being the pre-packaged conceit that the Tea Party was, predicted their evaporation after a week or two and have been wrong again and again. They just can’t comprehend a true populist movement. It’s like saying, “Okay, I understand, you’re all equals, but who’s the boss?”

  • ChrisR266 : AD: I get your point, but you seem to neglect to also note that DEMS provided the tools, but the folks wielded them.

  • ADONAI : Good to hear Al.

  • ADONAI : Then do this under the radar. My point is that one needs the other. There is no going in alone.

  • ChrisR266 : AD: That’s where they should stay.

  • AdLib : AD – Just sharing what I and Cher witnessed at Occupy LA. OWS is a group but a group of pretty independently minded people who have their own opinions on what matters most to them. What they all have in common is, as Cher mentioned earlier, a sense of injustice about how the rich and powerful have rigged the system against the 99%. And they aim to stop it and reverse it. However, each has their own area of focus so one leader couldn’t possibly embody a diverse group like this, they are “the people” and a leader would turn them into followers. The folks I saw and met, certainly are not followers, they are ALL leaders in their own ways.

  • ChrisR266 : AD: and they did this largely under the radar.

  • ADONAI : Who helped them in Wisconsin and Ohio? Democratic politicians. It was a group effort.

  • kesmarn : It depends on the situation, AD. Right now, in Ohio, the government is very alien to the people. Even the people who voted for this guy k-Sick now despise him.

  • ChrisR266 : AD: Pull the rosy glasses off and be real. WI had the most impact because things didn’t get usurped or whacked out by the operatives. OH is the same. Let the firefighters, teachers, and police fight those battles, they’re much more effectiv e.

  • ADONAI : I just want government and the people to stop acting like they are separate entities because they are not.

  • kesmarn : Will check that out, Murph.

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib:I agree, which is why the presence of politicians is not right in this moment.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : ALL…….just posted my all call at OFF TOPIC re. thoughts on the future of Occupy. If you get a chance….drop by.

  • kesmarn : Sally, the Prez does great on shows like the Daily Show or Tonight. He’s so sharp. Unlike Dubya who had to address audiences hand-picked because they were billionaires, kindergarteners or both.

  • Sabreen60 : I’d rather see the President on Colbert especially after since Stewart disrespected him.

  • ADONAI : Good points, Al. I cede this round to you.

  • AdLib : Night Sue!

  • ADONAI : Chris, why are we so easily bowed by the bullying of press and pundit? If you truly believe OWS is the way, if you truly believe this is the voice of the people, why would you not embrace it fully with the most powerful office in the country?

  • AdLib : AD – there is a unique character to the OWS movement, born out of social networking. They sincerely don’t want and would distrust anyone who became the voice or face of OWS because they see it as a communal thing and anyone who would step in front, by doing so, disrespects that primary character of the movement. As I said, I think the movement will branch out and there will be teams of people who help lead but when you’re protesting about the powerful, you don’t necessarily want to put your movement’s power in one or a few people. What if they’re slimed in the media or something bad is dug up about their past? The whole movement could be slimed. This truly is better, it has already proven a very successful approach, even Fox can’t get their claws into them, they’re doing pretty well.

  • SallyT : Kes, I think Obama needs to go on the Daily Show again.

  • SallyT : Kes, I’ll try to watch that.

  • kesmarn : Are you leaving, too, BFF? Sleep well.

  • ChrisR266 : AD: I think you have a point, in that we are at the everyday nexus. But at the same time, I do think we don’t want the President to be everyday. And, even given the purity of the movement, his presence will lead to the “tainting” of it by observers, pundits, press, etc.

  • Sabreen60 : Nite Sue.

  • kesmarn : The Prez was awesome on Leno. It’s archived on line if you get the chance, Sally.

  • Sabreen60 : Nite Cherm. Hope you feel better!

  • ADONAI : Chris, What if it wasn’t pandering? What if it was everyday? What if a President just finally decided it’s people over politicians?

  • AdLib : Nite Cher, take care of that headache and feel better!

  • SallyT : I didn’t see Leno.

  • ChrisR266 : AD: aw, crap. The nation can already see clearly he has his own battles to fight. To march with them would be perceived, even by them, as pandering. I don’t think he needs to or should pander. What he’s doing right now is what he can do and what he should do. The battle for the nation’s heart needs to be out in the nation, not diverted to D.C.

  • AdLib : Sabreen – Exactly, I think all of the Firebaggers have already been shamed and marginalized by OWS and by the sight of who the GOP is offering to replace him. People hear Moore or West howl about Obama and they think, “WTF? You want President Cain? Get lost!”

  • SueInCa : Sally he has already said that he knows and understands. The other night on Leno and in speeches I have heard. Now I amgoing……

  • ADONAI : Well i meant less dictator and more spokesperson. Like Lennon was for the Beatles. he didn’t want the job but someone had to. Yes, I just compared OWS to the Beatles.

  • ADONAI : O.K. Chris, now the follow up. Why?

  • SallyT : NO. I don’t think he should to that but maybe drop something in his addresses to people that is from them that lets them know he is listening.

  • PatsyT : Nighty Night Sue

  • ADONAI : Nite Sue!

  • AdLib : AD – I think what will happen, as Cher mentioned as well, is that out of the whole group, there will be many who help to lead in different areas. Many leaders, no dictator.

  • SueInCa : Well good nite all have a good session.

  • ADONAI : Hello sabreen!

  • ChrisR266 : Evening, Sabreen. Hope you are well!

  • kesmarn : Good night, Cher! Hope you feel better soon!

  • ChrisR266 : AD: No.

  • Sabreen60 : Hi Chris, and everyone I didn’t speak to.

  • ADONAI : If you were President would you go down there and march with them?

  • PatsyT : Nighty Night Cher…

  • ADONAI : Nite Cher! Sorry for flying off the handle earlier.

  • ChrisR266 : Good night, Cher. Golden slumbers.

  • SallyT : No its not. These are young people that have lost faith in the system. They are not to far gone! NEVER! They need to know that someone is hearing them. The President needs to let that be known. I know it is hard to say anything not in favor of the President on here. But, these are young people that I AM talking to.

  • ChrisR266 : Well, Evening AdLib.

  • Chernynkaya : I hear you, Chris. I’m tired too. In fact, I hate to say this, but I think my headache is winning. I will bid you all a goodnight dear friends.

  • AdLib : Hey Chris!

  • ADONAI : Or have a crowbar and a look out

  • AdLib : Cher – The RW is so boxed in by OWS. As you say, their first knee-jerk reaction (along with the MSM) was to ignore then ridicule and attack them. Now that it’s proven to be what many of us knew it was, a legit populist movement, they have lost all credibility and scramble in every direction trying to get out of its way…but OWS knows the score and so does the public. The RW couldn’t have played this worse. And in light of OWS, Ryan and Cantor moaning “Class Warfare against the wealthy!” is just hilarious and destructive to them in the end. Hope the Dems use the footage of them attacking everyone while moaning about the poor wealthy in 2012.

  • Sabreen60 : Just speaking to people I know and reading other blogs, many of President Obama’s supporters are turned off by Michael Moore and Cornel West. They see them bashing the President instead of going after the Republicans.

  • ChrisR266 : Damn. All you have to do to get a corvette is be the MVP of the World Series? Seriously? LMAO.

  • ADONAI : That’s a good idea. Ancillary “leadership”. Nothing concrete.

  • ChrisR266 : Hi Cher, I’m good. Tired, but good. We switched to semesters this year, and it’s killing me, LOL.

  • SallyT : I don’t think they need a “leader” but maybe some organizers for the protest and actions to follow and keep them on target.

  • PatsyT : Maybe ADONAI what they need is new unknown leaders not folks with any bagage

  • Chernynkaya : Chris! Long tome!~ How ya been?

  • ChrisR266 : Hi Sue, I Hope you’re well tonight.

  • Chernynkaya : Murph, amen.

  • SueInCa : Hey Chris everytime you get here is about the time when I sign off for the night. Good to see you here

  • Chernynkaya : Sally, so Obama is supposed to come out and say, “I am not a RW tool.”? really? as if anyone who believes that chit would listen. If you are so far gone and clueless that you’d believe that, it’s useless to engage.

  • ChrisR266 : Evening, Adonai.

  • ChrisR266 : Evening, kes: it’s nippy down here, too. had frost the last three nights.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Moore is an opportunist whose socialist compass guides a ship which has only his welfare as its destination.

  • ADONAI : Hello Chris!

  • kesmarn : Hey, Chris! Freezing up here!!

  • ChrisR266 : Hi ya, Patsy

  • ADONAI : All your arguments against a leader for OWS are excellent and very true. But the movement needs it.

  • kesmarn : Have to step away for a minute…just remembered I left some stuff I need in the car!

  • PatsyT : Hey Chris!

  • ChrisR266 : Good evening all.

  • AdLib : AD – I disagree, as a populist movement without a leader, there is no one Wall Street and the GOP can put a target on. Also, the movement does not want a leader to step in and grab power, this is a true populist movement and they don’t want that to change.

  • SueInCa : AL I saw the presser, she was diggin deep to try to explain

  • SallyT : AD, I am not a Moore fan but what he said, I heard some young people say before him. I think he was just repeating and it is now up to the President to prove that statement totally wrong. Not us that believe in him but he has to get those that feel let down to come back and support him.’

  • ADONAI : No Al I do not. I believe she specifically informed them to “disperse the crowd by any non-lethal means necessary”.

  • PatsyT : I like OWS without a leader… Its like Wisconsin… no one leader to do the talking just lots of individuals sharing their story… Thats what made Wisconsin so powerful and its doing the same for OWS

  • Chernynkaya : Bingo, AL. Moore truly is an asshat.

  • ADONAI : But that’s why they are a leader. Someone has to be the shield or they all get attacked.

  • AdLib : Does anyone believe Quan’s excuse for signing off on an attack on her citizens?

  • SueInCa : Murph weird that demonstration she got involved in was for Oscar Grant the new name given to the plaza by the occupy oakland group

  • Chernynkaya : Nope– a leader is only a target.

  • ADONAI : It’s weird to try to get in Republican’s heads. Kids playing drums are mobs, but grown ass men carrying weapons around are just concerned citizens.

  • kesmarn : I heard that too, Sue. I think Quan’s days as mayor are numbered.

  • AdLib : Cher – I saw Michael Moore on LOD last night and he finally got me to think of him as a total ass. He came out with a conspiracy theory about the GOP, not in jest, in all seriousness. He asked, “Why would the wealthiest and most powerful people allow such a flawed and weak GOP field to represent their potential candidate in the election? Unless…they already have their person in that position.” What a douche! Yes, Obama is owned by the Kochs and Karl ROve because he didn’t bring you a pony. He has now lost me for good.

  • Chernynkaya : Disagree, Sally. Moore gets a crowd, and he’s on the right side, but he should NOT try to speak for them.

  • SueInCa : Kes there is some rumble about a recall. Supporters of ?Dellums were already in the process. She does not have a grasp on running a city

  • Chernynkaya : I LOVE how the R’s are reacting to OWS. They blew it and are making the distinction that the Dems don’t even need to. The Dems have supported them verbally, but if they occupiers get violent, it doesn’t pay for the Dems to get too close.

  • kesmarn : I think (hope?) Quan’s political career is over.

  • ADONAI : I don’t think OWS needs “good PR”. Just a leader.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Mayor Quan made here first big public splash as a PROTESTOR in a series of demonstrations re. a police gun down that let to a manslaughter conviction. Ironic?

  • SueInCa : She said she signed the go ahead but did not read it? Made her look ignorant

  • SallyT : Cher, Michael Moore does get attention and the more the better. I don’t always agree with him but he does bring a crowd.

  • Chernynkaya : And yes–polcie brutality makes it only stronger.

  • ADONAI : Before? Well that’s interesting

  • Chernynkaya : AD, Mayor Quan left before the police riot–but she knew it was coming.

  • ADONAI : I agree Sue. Plenty pf people were pissed

  • SueInCa : I think she left town to go to her home and hide out.

  • Chernynkaya : One small thing I’m miffed about is Micheal Moore becoming so attached–or rather attaching himself–to OWS. He is a great muckracker and appreciate his work, but he is polarizing and using them for his own PR somewhat, IMO. He is an emo too, and it’s bugging me.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : One of the hot topics tonight in our conference call was the concept of VIRTUAL OCCUPATION….ha ving made a mark, stuck a flag in the ground….declar e victory in this battle and move to a different platform. Young people are resistant to this.

  • ADONAI : D’oh!

  • kesmarn : I think the OWS are actually getting govt support because PBO’s programs address many of their issues. It’s the Repubs who pull the rug out from underneath OWS issues.

  • SallyT : I know at other sites of the OWS they have been doing the same things as Portland like using bikes to power the generators and media equipment.

  • ADONAI : Sur

  • SueInCa : Adonai

  • AdLib : Cher – I’m with you on that, I think that the literal occupation is no longer as important as constant actions. Using social media and having networked millions into this, winter would seem to force the movement to go in other directions while the brave diehards keep a presence at current Occupy sites out of principle.

  • SueInCa : Maybe I will try that later this week

  • ADONAI : The Oakland situation is bizarre. All the way down to the mayor leaving town after the police riot.

  • SueInCa : Sally

  • SallyT : Sure Sue. But I am sure someone will be able to link to the show. It gets really wild and exciting because of the panel.

  • SueInCa : Adonai the police scenes are only gaining sympathy for the protestors. Look at Oakland……… they are back with the mayor’s bl;essing

  • Sabreen60 : Nite Em, take care of yourself.

  • ADONAI : I think the police brutality only strengthens the OWS cause. I think many are viewing the police forces, right or wrong, as tools of the people they are protesting against. What OWS needs more than anything is more government support. Not just people talking about it to Chris Matthews but real support. Not a political co-op, real support.

  • SueInCa : Hey Sally can you write something in Off Topic? I am curious

  • AdLib : Sally – Since this started as a social networking movement, my question is how important is it for the movement to remain at a particular site now that the movement has grown and spread so much? Might things evolve to the next level, focusing more on marches and protests at corporate or government sites?

  • Chernynkaya : I think the Occupy movement will not go away although it will probably morph into offshoots. At least that’s what happened in the 60’s. The winter will see a slow-down in the tents, but people will not stop. I think the movement will grow. But I think that there will be more violence and like the Civil Rights movement, they will gain followers only if they remain non-violent.

  • SueInCa : Hi Sally that was some line up……..

  • kesmarn : Heard an interview on NPR with an Occupy guy from Philadelphia. He said they’re looking to try to build some sort of structure that will protect them during the winter…using green energy and such.

  • SallyT : I must be honest, AD, I am joining late because I watched Real Time and boy was it a wild one tonight.

  • SueInCa : Night Em, hope you feel better

  • SueInCa : The kids in Reno are ready for colder weather.

  • kesmarn : Hey, Sally!

  • AdLib : Hey Sally! Nice to see you!

  • SallyT : The weather will have an impact. It can’t help but have. I do think many will stick it out.

  • ADONAI : Nite Em!

  • AdLib : Night Emerald, get some rest and feel better!

  • kesmarn : Good night, Em! Feel better, my friend!

  • ADONAI : Well, at least they’re paying attention. That’s good

  • Chernynkaya : Em, you take care!! Be well.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : First topic…I am all ears.

  • SueInCa : Another link for TExas

  • Emerald1943 : Hey everyone, I’m still a little under the weather and think I just need to get some extra sleep tonight. I hope you all will have a great VP! I’ll see you all tomorrow! Thanks! :-)

  • SueInCa : «link»

  • AdLib : FIRST TOPIC: THIS WEEK SAW VIOLENT POLICE ATTACKS ON OWS AND ARRESTS IN MULTIPLE STATES. WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENS TO OWS OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS? HOW DOES THE COMING OF WINTER AFFECT THE MOVEMENT? WILL THE SHOOTING OF SCOTT OLSEN CONTINUE TO RALLY THE MOVEMENT? WHAT IS THE FUTURE FOR OWS?

  • SueInCa : Welcome Adonai

  • ADONAI : Thanks sue!

  • SueInCa : That link is about DOJ and SC as of August

  • SueInCa : Here you go

  • Sabreen60 : Adlib, Yes Maryland is really blue. If cheating takes place here, I think it would in the Congressional races.

  • SueInCa : «link»

  • Emerald1943 : Adonai, the DOJ doesn’t give us crap! They will announce “investigations ” but nothing ever happens, or at least, nothing is ever reported.

  • ADONAI : Has the DoJ given a good reason for why they are not pressing harder on voting discrimination?

  • SueInCa : Em me too I h8 that man. Murph will take a look

  • Emerald1943 : Murph, I look forward to reading it.

  • kesmarn : Oh yeah, him too, Em!

  • AdLib : Sounds good Murph!

  • ADONAI : HA! very true Al

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, I was thinking more about the Village Idiot and HIS bragging rights! Too bad, Bush!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : I am going to drop a starter post in the Off Topic space. Anyone who wants to offer up their wisdom, please do. Basically, occupy “organizers in five cities” have reached out to veterans and asked for our collective wisdom, experience, and any resources we might have. There are 26 of us in our “cell”. I will post several questions and ask your input.

  • AdLib : AD – Don’t Bet With Texas.

  • kesmarn : Hey, AD!

  • kesmarn : Yay!! I was hoping the Cards would win, but mostly because I didn’t want Perry to have bragging rights. Not very sports-related.. .

  • SueInCa : Hey Adonai

  • ADONAI : Not good, Em. I had 20 bucks on the Rangers

  • AdLib : Rick Perry is crying in his postcard right now.

  • Sabreen60 : Hey AD!

  • Chernynkaya : BRB–phone!

  • Emerald1943 : AD, hello good friend! How are you tonight?

  • AdLib : Hi Ad!

  • SueInCa : National league rocks

  • Sabreen60 : Em, I’ve got mixed feelings, but I think I am glad the Cardinals won.

  • AdLib : STL CHAMPS!

  • ADONAI : Hello. I’m kinda lurking. Reading the conversation, trying to learn something. Please continue.

  • Emerald1943 : CARDINALS HAVE JUST WON!!

  • AdLib : Sabreen – At least there’s a Dem governor in MD, less likely he would participate passively in voting fraud against his own party.

  • Chernynkaya : Saw that Em–it rocked!

  • Emerald1943 : Two outs in the 9th! One out away from the Series!

  • kesmarn : The Ohio Diebolds print out the paper receipt, but only after the last Dem Sec of State insisted on it. Before that, no.

  • Chernynkaya : Sue, that might also give the states and ALEC time to draft something too in response.

  • Emerald1943 : Cher, my all time FAVE was a sign that said “I’m so angry that I made this sign!” I loved it!

  • Chernynkaya : As with anything, it’s up to us to demand action from the DOJ. If I go to Occupy LA again, that might be my sign.

  • Sabreen60 : The Diebolds in MD don’t give paper receipts.

  • SueInCa : All the DOJ has to do is call for an investigation of voter suppression which is against the law but closer to the general would be wise. They can announce investigations at any time though, give the states something to think about

  • Emerald1943 : Two outs away in the 9th inning for the Cards!

  • AdLib : Emerald – I am not a big fan of Holder, I think the slow or possibly non-existent investigations and prosecutions of Wall Street execs is just plain wrong. I don’t have high hopes for him but it’s hard to imagine he wants to lose his position due to fraud.

  • kesmarn : These kids are amazing, I think. The leaderless movement. The people’s mic. Their consistent non-violence. The way they can smell an exploiter in their midst. They’ve learned from the past.

  • Emerald1943 : Cher, very appropriate! “Interesting times” make me stay up at night, posting on a blog! Heh heh!

  • Chernynkaya : AL–I am hoping the same.

  • Chernynkaya : “It’s a curse to live in interesting times.” (Chinese proverb)

  • AdLib : Emerald, absolutely, the DoJ could apply for an injunction even the day before the elections.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, I don’t have a lot of faith in Holder. I think he’s been a bit of a disappointment!

  • Chernynkaya : Murph, Sue is savvy, and has been around the block. I guess we all have. But the kids are doing great too. They’ll learn. I was thinking how lucky or unlucky I am to have lived through 2 major movement and been able to participate.

  • SueInCa : Murph, I will be. I am an old protestor as well. I still know my civil disobedience moves.

  • kesmarn : BFF, good for you! Send reports!

  • AdLib : Cher – I am hoping though I may be wrong, that the DoJ may have this as a top priority but is soft pedaling it now until all the ducks are in a row. If not, it would be a travesty.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, yes but is there time to fight it out in the courts? And would the SCOTUS do the right thing for a change?

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Sue Be careful

  • Chernynkaya : Hi Murph! Sue, good on ya!!

  • AdLib : The bottom line on Voter ID should be very simple. How many cases of voter fraud have ever been committed? Less than a few in any state. How many people would be disenfranchised by voter ID laws? Millions. There is no comparison and a court should find that taking Constitutional rights away from millions is not outweighed by preventing ten people from improperly voting.

  • Emerald1943 : Sue, that’s fantastic! Wish I could be there with you!!

  • SueInCa : Good for you Murph. I am attending Oakland this coming week.

  • Emerald1943 : Cher, they make me nuts! Where are their spines?? They have been handed all the ammo against the repubs that they could ever want. Now, they just need to USE IT!!

  • SueInCa : I sure hope there is something in the works behind the scenes

  • Chernynkaya : ADLib–that’s the one I was quoting. It says they are “considering” holding Town Halls–CONSIDERI NG? If no one else is doing something, the black caucus should. That’s why Congress got rid of ACORN. Yes, the spineless Dems too.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : I live in rural Missouri but am doing work for two at a distance sites. I am an old warrior in all this and have gotten lassoed in.

  • AdLib : Hey Murph!

  • AdLib : Sue – That’s why we need the DoJ to act before the elections to block these oppressive laws that restrain people from exercising their Constitutional rights and let them scream later.

  • SueInCa : Hi Murph what area are you in?

  • kesmarn : Hey, Murph!

  • Emerald1943 : Hi Murph! Glad you’re here! sorry you’re so upset, but I am too! The news was full of arrests and police crackdowns tonight!

  • Chernynkaya : If the administration isn’t working hard on this issue, maybe they deserve to lose–but WE DON’T. I am baffled.

  • Sabreen60 : Hello Murph!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Hello all…..long conference call re. the Occupy Movement. Police crackdowns, changes in local law, removal of resources, and winter coming on…..I welcome all thoughts re. this. Really upset…..full court press on the movement happening right now. The kids involve do not see it, but we oldsters are having flashbacks.

  • kesmarn : Yes, Cher, the folks on the local level are outstanding. Where are the feds?

  • AdLib : Cher – Try this link for a story on the Black Caucus meeting with Holder on going after the Voter ID laws: «link»

  • SueInCa : Adlib but what about the voters who don’t have id so won’t try to vote?

  • Chernynkaya : kes, that’s good! But reading that article, I don’t understand why the CBCaucus isn’t doing much more. I am really irate.

  • SueInCa : Those numbers are not good

  • AdLib : Em – I think most of the Diebolds still out there create a paper copy but some don’t. There is little we can do until afterwards, comparing exit polls to results and if it comes out very different, demand recounts if there is a paper trail and if not, demand revotes.

  • kesmarn : On the voter ID situation, I have to say I’m deeply indebted to the African-American community here who have become extremely involved in the LOCAL Board of Elections (not state, who messed with my polling place). When I went to Election Central in inner Toledo to vote early, the AA poll workers there DECLINED to look at my photo ID. When I left, I thanked ’em. That’s the way to get involved.

  • Chernynkaya : from the link: “The study found that more than 21 million Americans don’t possess government-issue d photo identification. More than 3.2 million people alone in South Carolina, Texas, Kansas, Tennessee and Wisconsin don’t have state-issued identification that’s now required to vote in those states. Some 25 percent of African-American s nationwide do not have the proper documentation to meet ID requirements, according to Hilary Shelton, director of the NAACP’s Washington Bureau.” Read more: «link»

  • Sabreen60 : Adlib, If my knowledge is in the same ballpark as yours I’m lucky.

  • AdLib : Kes – Your neighborhood wasn’t listed? That is messed up, you should let your congressperson know ASAP.

  • Chernynkaya : I got a 404 message, AL on that link. What’s Holder going to do?

  • Emerald1943 : BRB, all…time for chocolate cake! :-)

  • AdLib : Whoops, let me try that link again: «link»

  • Emerald1943 : Cher, why would you think the press would cover it?

  • AdLib : Cher – I saw this week that the Dem Black Caucus met with Holder to press him to pursue the Voter ID laws which a study just came out on, showing “A study by the Brennan Center earlier this month said the new laws “may sharply tilt the political terrain for the 2012 election” by restricting voting access to 5 million people — most of them minority, elderly, young or low-income earners.” «link» tchydc.com/2011/ 10/25/128279/con gressional-black -caucus-targets. html#ixzz1c8WA6g TN

  • Chernynkaya : Jinx, Em!

  • kesmarn : Weird that Pat Robertson was the one who said they’d better knock off the extreme RW rhetoric or they’d lose the general.

  • Sabreen60 : I agree Adlib. I know the hacking technology is out there so, yes, we’ve got to come out en masse.

  • Chernynkaya : I am really very upset about voter suppression. I don’t know why no one is doing anything–at least int he press. Dammit, this happens every 4 years and then it disappears.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, how to do something about hacked electronic voting machines? Every election, we get all upset but nothing gets done.

  • AdLib : Emerald – The GOP didn’t want Christine O’Donnell to win in DE or Sharon Angle…there is only so much they can do if the majority wants a candidate.

  • kesmarn : Lots of little incremental changes here that add up. My polling place has been in 3 different locations in the past few years. When I went online to find out where it is this year they said my (very Dem) neighborhood didn’t exist.

  • SueInCa : Cher remember alot of r’s were left behind after bush….

  • SueInCa : cher

  • Chernynkaya : They have exactly a year to get their shit together and that’s not that long. Law moves slowly.

  • AdLib : Sabreen – Jinx! We both compared Cain to Palin back-to-back. May I tell you how brilliant you are?

  • Emerald1943 : Cher, it’s my understanding that the DOJ is looking at the states that are required to have approval by the Voting Rights Act before they can change anything. The other states I am not sure about.

  • SueInCa : Cher they are doing something about redistricting in Texas but I am not sure about voter suppression

  • Chernynkaya : Wll, what can we do?!

  • AdLib : Cher – I think Cain could win the nom too but just as Perry has surprised many, including me, about how fragile his candidacy is, Cain’s candidacy could fall apart just as quickly with the wrong thing said, and he says lots of wrong things.

  • kesmarn : I can tell you, I’m glad I voted early this past week. Voter suppression in Ohio is real. I have stories.

  • Chernynkaya : Can someone explain why the DOJ isn’t doing much about voter supression? Are they working on it?

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, OK by me! What are we going to discuss? I know it will be political! We seem to be really good at that!

  • Chernynkaya : I think AL gave us a few choices earlier–OWS, economy and I forget the third.

  • kesmarn : Just like OWS, we’ll have a General Assembly then, Em!

  • AdLib : Sabreen – Your point is well taken. Whether the majority is behind Obama or not, the voter suppression and rigging of vote counting is a big danger to him winning. We do have to do all we can to make this such a decisive victory that the amount of cheating required is more than they can do.

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, I’m not sure what we’re doing. “Fearless Leader” has not directed us tonight! :-)

  • Chernynkaya : Sabreen–complet ely agree–he’s Palin.

  • kesmarn : Hey, AdLib and all — are we assessing the Repub candidate du jour?

  • SueInCa : he is a distraction but it would be funny if he won.

  • Emerald1943 : Sabreen, you know that the RNC is NEVER going to let Cain take the nom. There is no way he can win in the general election.

  • Chernynkaya : Benihana! Hi kes! I like those places.

  • SueInCa : Adlib

  • Sabreen60 : Hi Kes!

  • AdLib : Hey Kes!!!

  • Chernynkaya : Me neither. Em. He got a lot of push back from other political scientists for that.

  • Sabreen60 : I see Herman Cain as another Sarah Palin. She was never going to run for President. Cain doesn’t have a campaign organization and from what I read he’s giving “motivational” speeches more than campaign speeches. I think he’s a distraction, also. Perry, Cain et al are out there trying to make Romney look sane. The problem is it’s 2011 and all those different positions Romney has taken are on video.

  • AdLib : Sue – I don’t see a plot behind Cain, I see him as a Palin-like opportunist who thought running for President could help him become a Fox host and sell books. He looks absolutely shocked that he’s at the top of the polls.

  • SueInCa : happy Friday, BFF

  • Emerald1943 : Kes!!! I am so glad you’re here! Glad to hear you had a good time!

  • Emerald1943 : Cher, Nate Silver does seem to have his finger on it, most of the time! I’m not sure about this one.

  • kesmarn : Happy Friday, friends. Sorry for the late arrival. The kids took me out to one of those Japanese restaurants where the hibachi chef juggles knives and ignites everyone’s hair with flaming sake. Great fun.

  • Chernynkaya : I read a NAte Silver column that claims he can win the nom, being that there really ahven’t been enough elections in modern times for a good reference, and, things are so whacked out now that maybe anything goes. All the old rules and conventional wisdom may not apply.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, it is being reported that he has virtually NO ground campaign anywhere. What’s up with that? Is he saving his money for later?

  • SueInCa : And the Dems need to get nasty for a change. Just use all their talk and comments should provide commercials for the next 13 months

  • AdLib : Emerald – I want to preserve the brain cells I have so I’m not even going to try to figure out what the point of that ad was. It’s clear that the amateurs are at the wheel so when the car steers off a cliff, I don’t expect it to have been planned.

  • Emerald1943 : Sabreen, I’m worried about that too. But you can bet that we will know! We knew when Bush did it!

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, I think you’re right! PBO just needs to keep on doing what’s he’s been doing lately…poundin g the repugs!

  • Chernynkaya : He’s one of those lucky jerks who is crazy like a fox. He has had way too much success for his abilities and brains. Sheer lucky stars is all I can think.

  • Sabreen60 : Will American put Romney in the WH? What I’m worried about is voter suppression and Diebold machines. If they steal it, how will we know?

  • SueInCa : Cain is a distraction, that is all. The Dominionists put him as a distraction

  • AdLib : Emerald – Absolutely, it’s been like being caught in a wave and tossed around for what seems like an eternal time then suddenly surfacing. Obama and the Dems sure look positioned to be able to win big if things go the right way. I mean, are indies going to vote for killing Medicare and SS, slashing hundreds of thousands of jobs including teachers, police and construction workers and giving the wealthiest a tax cut? I just can’t see it!

  • Emerald1943 : Cher, I think Herman Cain is a parody! He simply cannot be a serious candidate. Perhaps a performance artist?

  • Chernynkaya : No kidding–Herman Cain is sick. There is something really wrong with him.

  • SueInCa : Boy others got alot out of it way more than I did….

  • Chernynkaya : AL–It was unbelieveable–w ho wouldn’t think it was a parody?!

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, it was so weird! While the “international star” was talking to the camera, they were beating the crap out of the black guy in the back ground. What was that about???

  • SueInCa : I did not get the yellow flowers one at all

  • Chernynkaya : AL, I can’t wrap my head around the possibility that Obama can lose.

  • AdLib : Cher – You cracked me up with Yellow Roses! I didn’t think it was real until the end!

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, this is all giving me some hope for PBO!

  • Chernynkaya : er–my FAVE is Yellow Flowers!!

  • SueInCa : BRB gotta go smoke lol

  • AdLib : This was quite a week! The Occupy Oakland assault, the wheels coming off Mitt, Perry and Cain, decent numbers on the economy and the stock market up and Obama’s approval up 4%.

  • Chernynkaya : Creepy as hell. But my face is Yellow Flowers. Inscrutable.

  • Emerald1943 : Sue, I thought the yellow roses thing was worse!

  • SueInCa : That smoking commercial was downright stupid if not totally inappropriate

  • Chernynkaya : Hi, Sabreen!

  • SueInCa : Sabreen Hi!

  • Chernynkaya : AL According to the libertarians, that’s what freedom is all about–being an idiot.

  • Emerald1943 : Sabreen! Hi there!! Hope you are well! :-)

  • AdLib : Hey Sabreen!

  • Emerald1943 : Wow! The Cards just scored another run. It’s 6-2 in the 7th inning.

  • AdLib : 6 -2 St. Louis.

  • Sabreen60 : Good evening Planeteers!

  • SueInCa : I had codeine last year in liquid form, I am a sucker for those downer meds. years ago I would have called them reds

  • AdLib : Cher – yes, knew he Cain had cancer which is why the ad with his guy smoking a cigarette was even more messed up.

  • Chernynkaya : I knw, right! It HAS to be a joke.

  • Emerald1943 : Cher, THERMAN! Bwaaahahahaha! That’s hysterical!

  • Chernynkaya : On searching to see if Herman’s bro is really named Therman, Wiki says he had stage 4 colon cancer in 2006 but is cured. Anyone know that?

  • AdLib : We have some OTC migraine medicine from France, it has codeine and caffeine in them and they work pretty well.

  • SueInCa : Em I get a 4 mnth for 10 dollars – Kaiser amd Adlib, no particular cause but none since.

  • Emerald1943 : Hey adlib…what’s the subject tonight? Anything besides migraine headaches, please! :-)

  • Emerald1943 : Sue, that stuff doesn’t work for me at all. Terribly expensive too!

  • Chernynkaya : I didn’t have a migrain I don’t think. I am addicited to caffeine and when I don’t get any I get a headache. Too lazy yo go buy coffee.

  • SueInCa : Em mine was a couple months ago, I take nortriptyline now

  • AdLib : Sue! That’s awful! Holy Mackeral, was there a specific cause for that?

  • Emerald1943 : Cher, mine are definitely that bad, on a regular basis. I wish I could count the trips to the ER!

  • Emerald1943 : Sue, there must be something in the water! You, Cher and I all three have migraines at the same time??? I swear I haven’t been posting at HP, so what could be happening??

  • Chernynkaya : WOW Sue. Mine are never that bad. Jeez.

  • AdLib : Is it infidelity if I have the game on in another window?

  • Chernynkaya : Em–that sucks! Sorry to hear that and what a doc!

  • SueInCa : Be careful i had one that had me in the emergency room 2 nights in four days being fed delaudid and morphine

  • Emerald1943 : Cher, I had have a migraine h/a from hell all day today. Had to drive 100 miles in the rain to see the rheumatologist. I complained about the h/a and he told me I should see a specialist! WTF??? He IS the specialist!\

  • Chernynkaya : Don’t laugh– the GOPHouse has a pretty horrible internet bill coming up.

  • SueInCa : Cher

  • SueInCa : Hi Cher. Those damn rw lunatics even want to take over our keyboards

  • AdLib : Hey Cher! Therman? And of course his brother Sherman.

  • Chernynkaya : I’ve had an all-day headache but otherwise good! Sorry to read that your RA meds are troublesome, Em.

  • Emerald1943 : Cher!! Hi there, lady! How are you??

  • SueInCa : Yes Em but nothing like most people think would be written….so it is a surprise

  • AdLib : It is a RW conspiracy!

  • Chernynkaya : Hi guys! I was just on Twitter and someone said that Hreman Cain’s brother is named Therman! HAHAHA–I don’t believe it tho–must be a joke.

  • SueInCa : Well I think it is good……how did Adlib get posted alone again? My keyboard is crazy

  • Emerald1943 : Sue, did you say your post is about patriotism? I can’t wait to read it!

  • SueInCa : Adlib

  • AdLib : Sue – Will read it after Vox, looking forward to it!

  • SueInCa : The toy story cowboy roots for Texas as well. Nolan Ryan had him highlighted last year made me sick and now cannot stand Texas

  • Emerald1943 : Sue, I just had to completely log back on to the Internet. My computer just kicked me off! I am pretty sure that my resident poltergeist is back!

  • SueInCa : Al no problem…..if you think it needs more visuals, feel free to add them as well

  • SueInCa : No p, I kind of problem====Em this is what my keyboard just didlol

  • AdLib : I’d like STL to win, not crazy about Texas…knowing that Rick Perry is rooting for them.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, that’s cool. It freaked me out the last time I posted an article. I was afraid it was being held up for some problem. I thought I’d done something wrong. :-)

  • SueInCa : Adlib

  • SueInCa : Em I am a Niner fan. Watched it in NC and could not get over the fact you all don’t have a 10 am game.

  • AdLib : Sue – Ever since the HP deluge, we’ve changed the set up so posts go to pending which allows us to schedule publication so that each article gets plenty of focus and the most amount of readers as the “new” article.

  • Emerald1943 : Sue, I really couldn’t care less. I’m a rabid pro-football fan though. Never miss a Sunday or Monday night game!

  • SueInCa : Yes, rooting for the Cards although I don’t really care too much. Mygiants are at home lol

  • AdLib : I think many are watching! Last night’s close was amazing!

  • Emerald1943 : Anybody watching the World Series? It’s the seventh inning stretch.

  • AdLib : Emerald, the last month has been one tech or computer thing after another for me. What a pain, isn’t it?

  • SueInCa : Em same here, laptop sony Vaio

  • SueInCa : Cool Adlib. It won’t let me post direct anymore.

  • Emerald1943 : Sue, mine seems to be extra-sensitive, especially the touch pad. If my hand brushes across it as I type, it will move me around where I don’t want to go.

  • AdLib : Sue – Just popped over to the Posts to see it’s in pending, will publish it tomorrow!

  • SueInCa : em my keyboard does that sometimes, no explanation

  • Emerald1943 : Anyone watching the ball game? Looks like the Birds are going to take it unless Texas can get it together.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, my computer is bouncing me around all over the place tonight! If I just touch something on the keyboard, it takes me away! Sorry if I seem dis-jointed!

  • SueInCa : good I just finished a post on Patriotism

  • AdLib : Hey Sue! How are you this evening!
