Obama disappoints me again with this Shrub-like decision. Check out link for details:

This and sending 34,000 more troops to Afghanistan really have me steamed. He won’t get my vote again in 2012. I will either vote third party or stay home.

Would someone close enough to reach, please take out her bloody batteries and hide the rest on a distant dump somewhere??

She certainly got that franchise up and running.

At least it’s short but I see she still has the knife taped firmly to her hand.

Looks like she was all dressed up with nowhere to go when she wasn’t invited to din dins the other night. Holding grudges just isn’t healthy, someone should tell her.

Kalima, did you see this?

The president is not your boyfriend

That was so much fun to read and sums it up in a spicy nutshell. I had heard about it but hadn’t read it yet, it’s a keeper. The fact that AH was mentioned by name was a hoot and the icing on the cake.

Thanks, I loved it!

Perhaps Ralph Nader will run again.

I’d like to take an informal poll.

When you voted for Obama, did you think he’d be as radical as Sarah Palin said he was, or did you listen to him and his stump speeches, read up on his history and conclude he’d rule pragmatically, left of center? If so, why is this so shocking to progressives?

No, it’s not ideal; yes, I’ve been disappointed, but golly, what did you expect? I mean, honestly? I hate to say it, but it appears as if some people on the left really did believe he’d be some sort of messiah with dictatorial powers.

As a young person, who was only really politically conscious of the Bush I and Clinton years, I voted Nader my first election. After Bush II — sorry, but, there IS a real difference! Sorry he doesn’t rule with purity on every decision I’d like, but by god, what on earth good has boycotting an election ever gotten you? At least cast a third party protest vote. And if you believe Kucinich is ever getting the Democratic nomination…

Absolutely well said.

I knew Obama was a compromiser before Nov. He voted for tlecom immunity, and Keyrist, did that piss me off.

But as Hitchens said repeatedly, a ticket including Palin simply cannot be taken seriously. “What do you take me for?”

I certainly could not have said it better.

Purity, it seems, is what will drive the Repubs off the cliff.
Should we let this ‘purity’ sink the dems?
I think not. At the end of the day, strength is in the numbers not
the ‘purity’ of them.
There are so many great things about Obama,
just the fact that he is taking the time
to think about these serious issues
tells me we have the right one in office.

I would imagine that the infighting between the remaining 19% ters, their constant chants of NO without offering any viable alternatives and their lack of anything remotely resembling common sense or compassion for the American people and their right to healthcare, should be enough to push them off any cliff and carry them out to the ocean never to be seen again for decades to come.

Great visual and good point , Kalima.
That alone should do it.
How about that bs that we are afraid of SP?
I think, they are the ones with the fear
that dems will stick together.

Kalima

I doubt that any of you are afraid of SP, it’s a notion as ridiculous as Becky for VP, or in fact Ms. Mooseburger ever getting a chance or a nod to run as any sort of candidate for any government position again. Look what she just did in Alaska, couldn’t even complete her term and then couldn’t keep her cheap mouth shut about the press picking on her. If she got anywhere near the 2012 election basement bargain trail the Repugs are going to run, I can imagine a real revolution happening in America and not the imaginary kind Becky of the Vicks Vapour Rub hypes on his shows when his insanity allows him to keep ranting about things he knows nothing about like a lunatic.

The only person who should be afraid of SP, is SP, because she never knows what lies or utter nonsense will pop out of that mouth of hers.

You can’t be “pure” and represent 2/3rds of the nation, the way the Dmes do.

The thing is, one person’s purity is another’s compromise. I voted for the whole package. I certainly preferred HRC’s environmental policies — but taken in total, I thought Obama would be a better president. And I think that was the right judgment. He’s already surprised me w Lilly Ledbetter and the 100 million acres. I never expected health care to get done this year.

I remember the Clinton years — and I had come to believe that was the best we were ever going to do. Well, this guy is a lot better than Clinton on a lot of issues. I’m very pleasantly surprised.

I’ve been frustrated with the health care debate, but my anger is directed at certain members of congress (eg, Lieberman). Obama would have to do a whole lot worse to get me to change my vote away from him. I don’t anticipate that happening. I’ve never been one to divert votes from the dems by voting for third party candidates. I still have a resentment against Nader for giving us Bush.

I get so tired of people threatening not to vote and when they don’t, still complain about nothing ever changing in this world of ours. What would happen if all of us took the huff about every single issue out there?

I thought a real democracy meant full participation and making our voices heard above the din until we are finally heard and not just collecting our toys and going home out of spite because we couldn’t get our own way on everything.

nellie

Exactly Kalima, and well said. Instead of getting in there and working for what they want, deciding to throw their vote away. It’s petulance. As if the president is going to send an email to any particular voter promising to behave if they’ll vote for him.

As if this president is supposed to be a voter’s personal lackey — that he’s not president of the entire country, that he’s not balancing a myriad of concerns and interests, that because they voted for him, whatever they want is supposed to come true. To hell with the other 300 million of us.

As so many people have said before, at least we have someone in the White House who is trying to fix things instead of trying to destroy everything. Other people seem to have a very short memory.

I find that everyone just returns to their own agenda eventually and tend to vote for their Senators or their representatives purely for their own special interests or causes. In itself it’s not a bad thing but when it excludes what is going to help the rest of the population, like with the HCB, I find it appalling, selfish and very small minded.

So they will vote for some one who has a similar fixation on one or two of the issues they care about, then what, what about the other issues, what about the other citizens?

I’m sorry but I rarely have the patience for foot stomping and door slamming, it is hardly bearable in a small child, never mind witnessing it in a functioning adult.

President Obama hasn’t been in office a year yet, maybe Bush needs to come back to power, to remind everyone how it was.

“Obama is not doing exactly what I want him to do!!!!!!!! He’s a big doo doo head! I’m never voting again!!! Boo hoo hoo!”

Kalima

Exactly, now lie on your back and start kicking those legs until you are red in the face, pack up your ball or Barbie and stomp off. Mommy is waiting with your milk and cookies.

That would be the general “you” and not the you, you.

KevenSeven

That time I understood you.

“I’m going to hold my breath until Obama becomes a good liberal!”

“Collecting our toys and going home”

LOL! Exactly!

You’re great at cutting straight to the heart of it with common sense wisdom.

KevenSeven

There certainly is a lot of it.

That and griping that there is no difference between the two parties.

Sure, the Dems are not the local Commies, regardless of what Faux insists, but there is indeed a difference.

KevenSeven

Hey, Rabid.

Setting aside the fact that I would be delighted to argue with you over this, you have not chosen the correct descriptives and thus your complaints about Obama are not on the front page.

Would you consider combining the three points and then actually writing some sort of analysis?

nellie

Well, its your choice whether or not to participate in our democracy.

I was learning about the rationale behind the decision — which surprised me as well. Apparently, land mines are the only defense available in some areas, the only tools holding very tentative peacetime controls in place. We need to do better, that’s for sure.
