daily-show-huffington-postIt’s HuffNo Friday and time to let down at The Planet after a long week. There’s KQ’s thread for laughs and music an Afghanistan thread for discussions of substance and this thread to unload about, satirize and skewer The Huffington Post.

I posted this on the music thread but I think it belongs here instead. Here’s my animated parody about Queen of The Huffs from a few months back:

Lastly, there was one very memorable night at HuffPo when there was an impromptu Limerick Slam that many at the site participated in. In a tribute to that and to see if I can coax others here to join in on HuffPo themed limericks or jokes of any kind, I submit this one to try and kick it off:

There once was a woman from Greece
who found a gay man she could fleece
With his cash in her hand
She bought a news stand
and sold out before she could sneeze.

Anyone else?

Thank you, Monk and Nicole. A fellow “disgruntee” on HuffPo gave me info on this site, and I’m looking forward to the conversations here along with enjoying the reading. I’m on my fourth username on the Huff, after being banned twice, and disabled on the third name. I had a HuffPo moderator actually tell me that the use of the surname Mudd, as in Dr.Samuel Mudd, was grounds for my comment being scrubbed when I had the impertinence to suggest his name be dropped from the infamous phrase; “His name is Mudd”, and replaced by the name of “Bush”, in honor of the man who so deserves it more.

I’m not sure how good this entry is,
but I trust I’ll be told, so here goes;

She goes by the name, Arianna
When she started, most libs screamed, Hosannah
When the truth smacked our face
As we’ve realized her place
In the News world, we decided
Don’t wanna…

It felt better second time around reading it. But it came from the heart, and that’s enough.

A song from Cousin Eva to Arianna

Green dollars is where Arianna wants to be
Foreign living is the life she leads
Perceived fans spreading out
So far and wide
Keep old Athens
Just give her Manhattan wide

Athens
Is where we wished she

Do you want to confess to liking Petticoat Junction, too? And of course, the Beverly Hillbillies. Yes, there was a certain charm to them. I get tired of our need for complete grittiness. I like CSI but I can do without the impact simulations, internal trajectory demos, ect.

Now I’ll confess I still have a copy of the phono album from CBS’s winky Dink and You and a Mr. BunnyRabbit puppet. But then again, I have an early 1950’s Steiff TeddyBear, too, which was sent from Germany to me as a baby.

Loved Petticoat Junction! As you said, there was a certain charm to them, a naivete that would probably not play well now.

Speaking of Germany, and Steiff……I was born there, and had dual citizenship until in my twenties. My fave Steiff creature was a schnauzer, however.

My uncle lived there following WW II with his wife and adopted two children from there. Sadly both my cousins died relatively young (late 30s-early 40s). Thankfully the German record keeping meant that when one of them became sick the biological parent’s data was available to be found.

My Teddy lost one eye very long ago but I love him dearly.

Twas a woman from Greece named Huffington.
Hated Dems while huffing and puffington.
Like Orly Taitz she was obsessive
Now she calls herself progressive
I for one have had quite enoughington.

I want to make a parody out of Huffy’s faux outrage headlines but the only word I can think to rhyme with “leaderless” is calling one of the HP drones “penisless” and I just don’t want to go there.

I don’t usually do limericks, as you can guess, let alone ones rated PG or less, but

The demagogic headline was blood red
To call in the rage of the near dead
The Trolls did arrive
With that gleam in their eyes
To discover the facts which were not said

😆 excellent. Being of Irish American decent I’m a limericks guy myself.

I was told by my niece,
about this woman from greece,
who attracted the masses,
by pushing progressives.
Oh what joy to have a voice
To show my face in..a…liberal place?
It was THOUGHT to be a LIFT
Until that day…She pushed us off the cliff.

Peace *wink*

The red-haired Queen sat alone in her tower
O’er progressive postings she did glower
She called out her censors
Chopped posts with her pinchers
But soon she’ll be left without power!!

(Sorry – I’m tired and it’s the best I could do….)

😆 We certainly hope but she is trying to pull a Murdoch.

There once was a woman from Athens
Who being a Greek knew her ass ins
She worked it quite well,
and then sat for a spell
While bemoaning balloons and their gassin

Please, please, culture!

A Haiku to Arianna

Stassinopoulos reigns,
in her mind but
outside frozen flowers die

Very nice and cultured, indeed, Monk. 🙂

Haiku by the rules is tough if you don’t do a lot of them, especially considering the topic.

Actually Japanese Haiku is 5-7-5.

It was good.

Corgi Lover

It was fair, and yes, varied from the rules, but just getting it down to 17 syllables was tough.

But thank you anyway.

Kalima

Sorry, I omitted the word syllables after 5-7-5.

The rallying cry at HuffPost,
Was to shriek new main or you’re toast
and as lemmings we went
so that we could all vent
whilst arianna cackled away as the host.

edit to correct last line.

There was this woman from Greece
who spent considerable time on her knees
Bowing and scraping to the rich of the land
Giving hope to Progressives, stealing it back with the other hand
Now she yearns for the big tent, the paint and the grease.

AdLib, I loved your video the first time and it’s even more relevant now.

I don’t have a limerick yet, they are busy digging up the street outside of my house, I can’t hear myself think. Maybe later when they finally go home for the day.

😆 great first limerick.

Twas a huffy lemming named Stein.
Who constantly would cry and whine.
When Aryanna spoke.
He would instantly stroke.
Bring on the ad money where’s mine.
