Yes, it really was that important!

Yeah, I am beyond busy with school and looking for an apartment, I haven’t had the time. Also, I don’t know if you guys would like my libertarian views too much, so I don’t contribute as much

Good to know about the Avs. I will definitely follow the games as soon as I move to my apartment. Where I stay right now is not hockey friendly.

Yes, the expansion to the South has been an abject failure. Incidentally, it was during my move to the South that I actually stopped watching the NHL, because it was nearly impossible to watch hockey on TV there(Atlanta, btw). I am a fan of the Colorado Avalanche and I have no idea what happened to my team, so I basically stopped watching. Now that I live in Capitals land, I hope to get caught up, especially since Washington is leading their conference. I throughly miss hockey, so that game was my reconnecting link. And yes, I was screaming at both Luongo and Crosby throughout the game. As a fan of Martin Brodeur, I have to admit that I was peeved to see Luongo in the net for the ultimate game instead of mah husband. But yeah, perhaps Brodeur is past his prime(I am sooo sad to say this)

As a Canuck from Montreal (if you know your hockey history, you know that Montreal is the epicenter of hockey, even after Bettman aka the ratface fucker tries hard to get rid of all Canadian teams in the NHL), I have to say, this was the ultimate sport for me in the Olympics. And I was a ball of nerves throughout the days leading up to this game. After seeing Luongo play erratically during the Canada-Slovak game, I was, to say the least, scared shitless that we would lose against the US. Sorry my American friends, but there is no fucking way I was going to let that happened. Throughout the game, I was screaming and swearing up and down. I was mostly screaming at Sidney Crosby that if there was a game that he needed to contribute and score (after being scoreless for two consecutive games) this was it. Well, hold and behold, who fucking scores the winning goal?! Yes, Crosby!!! Whoooohoooooo. I have to admit, the US team was magnificient. They reminded me of the New Jersey Devils during their Stanley Cup win. Seriously, this game was beyond epic. I will remember it for a long time.

Bernanke Said What?!

Survival of the fittest. If you cannot handle investing your money, then learn to save for your end of days. This a lame excuse

I wonder why there is more oligopolies and monopolies? Oh yes, GOVERNMENT COLLUSION. We do not have a free market anymore, we have a market where the few have used the government to step on the many smaller entrants.

What is wrong with privatizing SS? I would prefer to have the choice to invest my retirement money in something that may help make far more money than SS could do

» Posted By missfrenchyUSA On December 4, 2009 @ 2:30 pm

Privatize all this, allow people to have a choice on where to invest there money for retirement, get rid of employment-based health care and allow school choice through vouchers, charter schools and magnet schools. That would actually be better for the consumer in the end

Jobs, You Want Jobs?

FeloniousMonk, the knowledge industry is not strictly confined to the consumer service area, it encompasses all jobs that is not agriculture or machinery-based. Here is the four categories that comprise the knowledge industry
T = Technology and R&D Innovation
A = Arts and Culture
P = Professional and Managerial
E = Educating and Training

Most of you work in the knowledge industry, I would have thought that would be easy for you guys to understand what I mean by that sector

» Posted By missfrenchyUSA On December 4, 2009 @ 2:42 pm

Hmmm… are you serious about this question? Service jobs in the knowledge industry is worth six figures! With the green industry opening the door wide open on opportunities, this is where you will find the “blue collar” type jobs for the new generation. Moreover, there will always be a need for plumbers, electrician, etc… The only thing you need to do is get rid of the unions in these profession to allow new entrants in the market. As for 3rd rate manufacturing jobs, I am talking about those that have been sent to China, SE Asia and other emerging and less developed markets. These jobs are not viable here anymore. Its time to embrace the future

» Posted By missfrenchyUSA On December 4, 2009 @ 2:28 pm

I do not agree with your premise considering the fact that the US hasn’t had a strong manufacturing sector since the early 80s. Moreover, the manufacturing industries has benefitted so much from government handouts and subsidies that it has put itself in this position. Not allowing true competition in the market, imposing tariff barriers on product coming from other countries such as Japan has led to its downfall. The same could be said about the sugar industry, corn, etc.. The US now has to make more tangible eco-friendly products to kickstart its economy and focus on services outside of the financial world. Third rate manufacturing jobs are not where the US needs to focus for its rcovery

Andrew Sullivan Officially Leaving the Right

Oops I forgot to add that Bruce Bartlett, Reagan former economic advisor, also defected.

» Posted By missfrenchyUSA On December 4, 2009 @ 6:30 pm

Well said. Those good conservative or few and far between. Its very sad, especially for those of us who actually embrace those values

» Posted By missfrenchyUSA On December 4, 2009 @ 7:32 am

LOL, you are so wrong. That was not even my intention

» Posted By missfrenchyUSA On December 4, 2009 @ 7:27 am

Andrew (and his counterparts at the Ordinary League of Gentlemen, Rod Dreher and the authors at the Front Porch Republic) are what I would consider principled conservatives, much like the Tories and Canadian conservatives. They believe in limited government, believe in liberty, do not think the government should tell you how to live your life, etc… Not like the social conservatives who holds the reign in the GOP

I am studying right and am taking a small break. Finals week is upon me and then I am going to hibernate for a few weeks 😉

» Posted By missfrenchyUSA On December 3, 2009 @ 8:36 pm

Wow, although I should have seen this coming, I am still shocked. Another defection this week! Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs also defected. I am waiting for Rod Dreher of the Crunchy Con to do the same. The trifecta of reasonable conservatives leaving the GOP will reflect very badly on them

» Posted By missfrenchyUSA On December 3, 2009 @ 8:17 pm

Wow Under Different Circumstances this could be Me.

Amen Brotha. That is why I truly hope that Congress is serious about lifting that antitrust exemption on the insurance companies. I am in favor of a consumer-driven health care reform, where competition is key to getting reducing prices and getting great services. The market works when there are no barriers and no corporate nanny welfare

Indeed, national defense and education are not well address by the free market because of its public goods characteristic and so is healthcare. Case in point, one of my friend is going to have a surgery and he does not have health care and no money to afford this surgery. We now have to raise money for him. I find it sad that a young person cannot even afford to pay for his health!
