Afghanistan: The end?

Actually, the primary pipeline in Iraq runs from Kirkuk to Bayji; both cities are located within the country.

The proposed piplelines through Afghanistan are natural gas. TAPI originates in Turkmenistan and the IPI starts in Iran It’s a geopolitical puzzle to behold. BTW, I listened to Dan Rather last week on the issues and respect his take on the conflict.

Historian says Iraq “democracy” doomed to failure

Read the article, it’s a good one. Sad to read about the ethnic cleansing of the Sunnis; that’s hardly bringing democracy to Iraq. We need to get away ASAP from our dependence on fossil fuels and especially deal with the anti-democratic (Patriot Act, FISA, electronic voting, etc.) in our own backyard.

It’s good to have my impressions validated, too. It’s hard to figure out why the vile comments have a longer shelf life than reasonble, well-thought out ones. There’s a lot of anger to slush through on the main threads, and things seem to be getting worse.

I’m not meaning to respond to SeeknDestroy, but I’m a new newbie and can’t figure out how to respond directly to someone’s blog. Anyway, bonsoir! It is getting disheartening on HP. I’ve had my more thoughtful posts not go through, while insults abound on the same thread. I’ve already removed myself once out of frustration over that, and also because I felt I was spending too much time there in the midst of some projects. Procrastination, not Kali, is my real name.

The moderation is disheartening, and the main threads are getting more petty and contentious. It’s not just the trolls, but some of the progressives. For instance, last week I wrote “He has a mistress” as a joke in response to another poster with my statement getting flipped up from where I had submitted it. I ended up being told I had two assholes by a couple of may I say, alpha dogs. Come to find out, it was taken out of context that I was talking about the president, even though it didn’t land by any direct references to him. Don’t know how much longer I’ll be sticking around HP. I don’t know if I’ll stick it out again and for how long with all the sensationalism, inconsistent monitoring, and fighting.
