The Daily Planet, Vol. 125

If Obama pushes this this impending destruction of the New Deal and the Great Society through both houses there will be no way that we or people we know will ever vote for him again . ( Romney is Romney ) And this is from people who worked, sent in money and voted for him. He could easily–easily–have invoked the 14th Amendment and at this late hour still can but won’t. This is the greatest betrayal in American history. Just wait and be prepared to welcome in 1929–not a depression but a continuing very deep recession that thanks to Obama is going to go on an on and on and on and on and on.

Don’t bother to fume. Just walk down the hall and pass it on you’ve lost another.

In the World of the Blind, We’re Often Led Off the Cliff

Making a statement and actually leading are two very different things

Didn’t answer my question, Abbyrose 86. Why doesn’t he address the rally from behind a secure site if that is what is supposedly holding him back as you suggest.

» Posted By henlopen On February 27, 2011 @ 1:31 pm

Then he could address the rally from behind your stainles steel screen surrounded by the army via TV. Hasn’t done that has he ? If you have another negative answer for that then I guess we all know where you’re coming from

» Posted By henlopen On February 27, 2011 @ 1:15 pm

Sitting Presidnts walk through crowds all the time. Have you never heard of the “rope line?” As for addressing a rally–since when have Presidents completely stopped addressing crowds from the steps of a capital building someplace, for example ? Don’t make flimsy excuses. I worked hard to get Obama elected but we need real leadership.

Ed Schultze is absolutley right. If Obama never had any intentions of supporting labor directly in the field then he should not have said, unequivocally, that he would. That he would actually put on his “walking shoes” and do so. It is not unreasonable to see him at a rally –like Governor Patrick Duval of Mass., speaking in defense of unions and workers rights. Unions are a major anchor of the middle class and the Republicans are trying to destroy them.
And no–Obama was’nt speaking figuratively .
We need real leadership atthe top not a vacuum.

Arab Uprisings: Still Writing History

There shouldn’t be any “collateral damage”–what a wonderful phrase–unless someone is sleeping on the runways–and a person can easily be seen by a B2 from 12 miles up.
Progressices around the world have urged a “no-fly ” zone. See avaaz.org.

Since “Truth” –a foxy lady I gather–wants an answer: Just read the rest of the non-Mainstream Media., Try Rep. Weiner today for example. You can only hide in a bubble so long.

» Posted By henlopen On March 17, 2011 @ 2:49 pm

That is exactly why we should do what I am suggesting.

» Posted By henlopen On March 17, 2011 @ 2:43 pm

The cost would be relatively limited for us. B2s would fly straight from the middle west to Libya and back. It would be a helpful study for those in gov’t to see how the most high teck of the Cold War machines perfoms. Or mayby not–if one wants to defend the absurdity of 700 military bases. We could also put unarmed Global Eagle drones in the air well above 60,000 feet to feed real-time info to those on the ground. Just sayin’ –at least give them a chance to run.
Another thought to pass on.

» Posted By henlopen On March 17, 2011 @ 2:34 pm

Yes, the topic is middle east/Libya. Thank you. I was hoping that enough pressure, or exposure to an option, might cause the President to consider a few, quiet –what else would they be?- B2 flights to help the desperate people in east Libya. There is no action more deniable than a middle of the night B2 strike. Certainly more deniable than the special forces that have been reported there helping train the insurgents. As I said, if anyone passes him in a corridor suggest it. Thanks.

» Posted By henlopen On March 17, 2011 @ 1:44 pm

Yes, it does imply those points, not exactly uncommon in the left of center discourse these days. “The Left” now, of course, being anyone who is sooo radical that would have supported FDR or Truman or LBJ’s domestic programs. However, we’re not exaclty standing in front of the White House chanting “How many kids did you kill today,” are we; which , of course, the Frearles Leader of Libya will gladly do if he isn’t thwarted. The kids can run and hide from the toops and the tanks ; they can’t do that from the airplanes. Thanks to undamaged runways.

» Posted By henlopen On March 17, 2011 @ 1:22 pm

Why is it “inflammatory” to say he is “hiding under his bed” ? If you think that is inflammatory then you aren’t in the real political world at the moment. Have you never heard of “metaphor” ?

Trust, me, you don’t want a pile of examples from me–all of which are readily available in the non-Arianna, serious progressive and Progressive media. That will make you spend the rest of the day trying to counter each and every one. No water cooler time for you there.

» Posted By henlopen On March 17, 2011 @ 12:42 pm

So “Arianna talk” is anybody who dares question Obama. Boy , does that include a lot of people who happen to be progessives, Progressives, liberals, party activists, etc.
And rather than rational discussion one just gets anger. As I said, interesting.

» Posted By henlopen On March 17, 2011 @ 12:24 pm

The biggest advantage he has is airpower through planes and helicopter gunships. Stop those and the pro Democracy forces have a chance. If you were there you would not be scornful of airpower or runways. Why do you think these pro democracy forces are calling for help against them ? Give these people a break !

» Posted By henlopen On March 17, 2011 @ 11:33 am

Oh I’m sure it does…..

» Posted By henlopen On March 17, 2011 @ 11:28 am

Because we are the ones with the B2 bombers. A few midnight bombing runs does not constitute another war. How much more cover does Obama need than what has been provided by the Arab League ? !!!!

» Posted By henlopen On March 17, 2011 @ 11:26 am

It does when you leave runways full of holes.

» Posted By henlopen On March 17, 2011 @ 11:23 am

If Obama was willing to be an actual leader instead of hiding under his bed, he would snd B2 bombers to Libya to take out the runways and any Libyan planes in the air. No antiaircraft weaponry would be effective against B2s designed for vastly more high tech opposition. A few ghostly runs and the tide would turn. And a huge number of lives would be saved. Anybody here meet him in a corridor pass it on.

The Deficit of Truth About Obama’s Budget

This posting says at the beginning in part “sober assessments are proving the proposal to be less horrible than advertised.” Why should this President be proposing ANY cuts that are horrible to ANY degree ? That is not why we elected him !

» Posted By henlopen On February 17, 2011 @ 6:37 am

Referring back to the main article: It would be wise to keep a balanced view. For example, Obama has in fact offered a very deep cut in the Low Income heating program that will severely affect huge numbers across the northern part of this country. If it was all cut out you can count on people dying. In the meantime the richest get their tax cuts.
