I’m Throwing Away My Vote Next Tuesday

It is not good idea to “throw a vote away” ever. Voting for the other guy out of protest can have dire consequences. Remember how many lefties voted for Ralph Nader as a protest and see where that got us. Martha Coakley is not the greatest candidate in terms of visuals but her record seems to be pretty darn good. I would hope you would reconsider

In Remembrance of KQuark

ADLIB No worries about responding. I totally understand. It really helped coming to the Planet after learning of KQuark’s passing. I still can’t believe it but I know he is resting in peace. Thanks to all at the Planet

» Posted By empi On September 20, 2013 @ 10:41 am

Thanks Adlib. So sorry you lost two friends in one year.

» Posted By empi On September 18, 2013 @ 1:40 pm

Thank you AdLib, Kalima and all the others who responded to my posts about KQ. Yesterday was a catharsis for me because it was only a few days before that I received an email from his wife telling me of his passing and I was so very sad and couldn’t share my grief with anyone. That is what brought me to the Planet to see if there was anything about it and there was.

Thank you again each and everyone of you.

Who was Bito?

» Posted By empi On September 17, 2013 @ 5:25 pm

Well as one gets older, one gets to understand the importance of savoring the moment and living life to the fullest. We only have the present but we don’t live our lives that way because we always believe there is another tomorrow. I have a feeling that KQUARK was all too aware how fleeting his life was given his illnesses, yet he was able to stay positive and be thankful for his wonderful wife and his friends. Let us all remember KQ and enjoy every day as it comes if we are lucky.

My hubby always tells me to “eat your ice cream while it’s on the plate”

Being at the Planet today has been a catharsis.

Kalima -are you british – you spell realize with an “s” and not a “z”.

Cliches are cliches because they are true and the one that comes to mind in response to SueInCA is:

“The good die young”

» Posted By empi On September 17, 2013 @ 3:07 pm

Thank you Kalima. I just want to cry reading all of the wonderful tributes to KQUARK. Do you think he had any idea how much he was loved? I saved all of his emails and when I found out the other day I opened one up where he included his picture – just so I could see his face and remember that smile.

Thank you again and thank all of you for such a wonderful tribute to such wonderful person. Has anyone been in touch with his wife. I am sure these tributes would be of some solace to her.

I just found out the other day about KQuark and my heart sunk to the floor on hearing the terrible news. His lovely wife said she was finally able to open his email and respond to those who had written and who were concerned. I also met KQ at HP during the 2008 election year and we just hit it off immediately. After reading some of the comments and tributes, a lot of us met him the same way. I couldn’t even begin to write a tribute as befitting as that written by Kalima but suffice it to say, he was a wonderful person with such courage and insight, and the world was a better place when he was in it. This is a tremendous loss.

KQuark, you will be missed more than you could ever know. R. I. P.

Hope and Change of Possession of Syria’s Chemical Weapons

Hi Nirek

Definition of an emoprog

Emo Progressive

The Original Definition, reprinted from Urban Dictionary

Emo Progressive (or “emoprog”) is a self-described liberal or progressive, often with strong libertarian leanings, whose primary political orientation is to be angry, dissatisfied and unhappy with the state of the nation at any given time, because in their view, liberal policies are not being implemented quickly enough or articulated forcefully enough. They have particular contempt for Democratic presidents.

Emoprogs are ideological purists who disdain compromise and incremental change, which they see as “selling out” classical liberal ideas like full employment, an end to all wars, state secrets, and liberal social policy.

Emoprogs dislike Republicans but reserve their greatest disdain for Democratic presidents, whom they relentlessly attack for not meeting a set of ideological goal posts that are constantly adjusted to ensure that the president will be deemed a disappointment, “not progressive enough” or “just like a Republican” no matter what policy achievements are made.

Emoprogs routinely dismiss or ignore congress’ role in making or impeding policy, believing presidents can simply “use the bully pulpit” and “fight” in order to overcome constitutional or legislative obstacles.

Emoprogs have a strong affinity for third party politics as a way to punish Democratic presidents. They are especially hostile to President Barack Obama and deem anyone who expresses a lack of ill will toward him to be “Obamabots” and enemies of liberalism.

Example1: After Eric Holder announced congress had blocked the Justice Department from trying 9/11 mastermind KSM in civilian court, social networks lit up with emo progressives complaining that President Obama had broken his campaign promise to end military tribunals. Their criticism did not mention congressional Democrats who helped block Holder.

Example2: Emoprogs dismissed healthcare reform as a failure, saying President Obama should have used the bully pulpit to achieve a single payer system, despite the fact that Sen. Harry Reid made it clear that such a plan could not pass the Senate.

They are so pathetic and so predictable. I expect the b/s from the RWNJs but from the fire baggers not so much. Hoping for Obama to fail!!! Can you believe it?

BTW, how is Quark? Tell him hello for me.

Thanks ad-lib

» Posted By empi On September 10, 2013 @ 12:56 pm

And don’t forget not being given credit by the firebaggers and emoprogs. Once again, I am reminded how much I love this president and what a brilliant man he is.

Why You Shouldn’t Worry About Romney’s Debate Bounce

My pleasure and I agree with you. We just have to keep our heads. I have all the faith in Obama to come through.

P. S. I read your blogs almost every day

» Posted By empi On October 10, 2012 @ 1:52 pm

You haven’t seen me because I haven’t posted here on POV for a long time. KQuark and I are old friends. I read the POV posts every day but I don’t always post because of time constraints, but since I know everyone is going crazy overreacting to the debate, I thought this might calm and sooth some nerves.

Thanks for the lovely note. I appreciate it

» Posted By empi On October 10, 2012 @ 12:53 pm

The president was on Tom Joyner’s radio show today. All of the hand wringers and fretters should have a listen. Get a grip folks. It was only one debate and you are falling into the MSM’s trap of making a mountain out of a molehill. Have a listen. The President knows what’s happening.

Remarks by the President on the Economy in Osawatomie, Kansas

That’s because governing ain’t easy my friend and especially when you are working with slimy scum bags whose only desire is to destroy you and screw the country in the process. I voted for a pragmatic president and got one. I have felt frustrated at times too but I never stopped believing in his integrity.

Thanks KQuark. I check in every day. I don’t comment every day but the President always evokes passion in me. Hope you are well and thanks for the email.

Delicious. Simply delicious.

I LOVE MY PRESIDENT.

Occupy Los Angeles on The International Day of Action

Sorry if I offended anyone with my comments. It’s the way I saw it . I watched the videos and I didn’t see what everyone else saw but it was not my intention to offend. Sorry for calling Los Angelenos lazy – of course there are lazy people all over but when it comes to really protesting, I can’t remember a big protest in Los Angeles about anything – and i have lived here for a long long time. The only real protests I have seen have been from latinos . Again, sorry if I offend thee

» Posted By empi On October 18, 2011 @ 11:16 am

I hate to be a downer but the Los Angeles turnout sure weren;t displaying any signs about jobs. It looked like a lot of lookey loos looking for a reason to eat and dance. I live in Los Angeles so it doesn’t surprise me. Lazy folks.

The Tale of Two Women and the One Man Who Failed

I really enjoyed this article. I hate the bitch as much as the writer apparently does. Arianna is a scourge on this country

The Country We Believe In–Transcript

I love my President. Way to hit it out the park Mr. Pres. This is the hardest working President I have known in my lifetime and I have lived through a few. I wish “his base” would rally around him when he needs them rather than giving fodder to the repukes. It is shameful.

Remarks by the President in Address to the Nation on Libya

Hey KQuark I have been hoping to hear from you. I hope you are well. Sent a couple of emails with no response.

» Posted By empi On March 29, 2011 @ 12:39 pm

I am so proud to have Mr. Obama as our President. He displayed a decisive position and the correct one if I am to believe people who know far more than I on the subject.

It’s Official: Huffington Post Is Now Out-Drudging Drudge

He looks and is hateful.

» Posted By empi On March 15, 2011 @ 3:15 pm

I left that disgusting website years ago. The only good thing about it is I met nice people there such as the people here who started the Planet.

The only thing I do at Huffpo is go to their website first thing in the AM to see what’s happening because they seem to have the news up first before I go to my favorite sites to post.

Free Speech! Supplies Are Limited!

Actually, Pat Buchanan made a remark a few weeks ago saying there were too many Jews on the Supreme Court.

Helen should have thought about what she said before she said it and I am sure this comes from years and years of frustration on her part. I don’t hear other people getting booted for saying anything negative about the Palestinians or the folks calling Obama a racist, marxist, hitler, nazi and raghead.

This is a sad day and I am sorry Helen had to end her illustrious career on such a terrible note.

Moyers Going Out With a Bank

Bill is sad to go but he has been doing this a long time and would like to retire and do some things with his family. One can’t blame him but we are all feeling the loss, like a death in the family. However, all of his shows are archived and can be watched at anytime. He will have a website where we can follow what he’s doing. I am sure he will still be active in the community,

Bill Moyers is a real National Treasure
