Netanyahu’s Alternative to Averting Nuclear War with Iran…A Conventional War with Iran

AdLib, I think you hit the nail on the head. The only thing I would add is my being pissed off with the Democrats who attended the speech and sat on their hands as Netanyahu disrespected President Obama, the Office of the President and “we the people”. He was in OUR HOUSE. He didn’t speak in some random auditorium. He spoke in the “Peoples House”. And I think those of us who are disgusted have every right to be.

What is also pathetic is the RWNJs who are in ecstasy over Netanyahu disrespecting the United States. They didn’t learn a damn thing about putting foreign “leaders” like Putin on pedestals only to have the pedestal fall and President Obama stand tall.

Funk, I don’t think Netanyahu feels threatened by Iran’s nuclear program either. How many nukes does Israel have? By the time Iran develops a nuke, Israel can lobe several at them. Seriously. What a bunch of crap. Who’s going to fight this conventional war? Our troops were pulling 4 & 5 tours in Iraq and Iran is 3 times larger than Iraq. Are Republicans going an attempt to institute the “draft”. Because if not, who’s doing this fighting?

Why Some Fundamentalist Christians Are Aligned With ISIS

I am not disagreeing with you. In fact, I agree with you 100%.

» Posted By Sabreen60 On February 19, 2015 @ 12:08 pm

No they will not take that leap and nor should they. The KKK was still lynching black people in the 40’s and murdering in other ways since then. Yet there are some white folks who want to get the vapors about bringing up the Klan because that was in the “past” – not as distant as they would pretend to believe.

AdLib,

If you don’t have a copy of the Qu’ran and you really want to know what it says, get one and read it. The problem with the article you linked to is the author did what uninformed people usually do – take verses out of context. In each Qu’ran there are footnotes at the bottom of the page that explains what is going on at that particular time. Christians, Jews and “pagans” were warring with each other. Muslims were being killed as were the others. Therefore, there are passages in the Qu’ran that say in essence to defend yourselves – kill the infidels. BTW, infidels were considered to be anybody – any religion – who attempted to kill or stop the practice of Islam. However, there was certainly no love lost between the Muslims and Jews. They fought each other to the death. Probably why the Qu’ran singles out Christians to say they are most like Muslims.

So if ISIL is using these passages to justify their actions, they are corrupting them.

Just in case….I am not defending Islam or any religion for that matter. I was a Christian before I was Muslim. I got sick of the hypocrisy by Christians and I got sick of the hypocrisy by Muslims. But just because someone claims to have knowledge doesn’t make it so. I don’t know anything about the author of the article, but he sure doesn’t impress me. He’s parroting “western” talking points. Read for yourself and don’t depend on others to give you knowledge when you can go straight to the source. Sorta like listening to pundits.

AdLib,

I agree with President Obama. As a former Muslim (I would now be called an unbeliever)ISIL is NOT Islam. The Qu’ran says to be as kind and soft to your Muslim brothers and sisters as milk. These thugs are killing more Muslims than anyone else. The Qu’ran also says that CHRISTIANS are most like Muslims because of their belief in God.

Whatever ISIL is practicing in ain’t Islam nor any part of Islam. Was the KKK practicing Christianity when they lynched black people across this country? Was there some part of Christianity that told them to kill black people?

People have used religion to kill people. Maybe there is something in the Bible or the Qu’ran they can use to justify their actions but that doesn’t make it based in truth.

In 1967, A High School Junior, Me, Was Invited To A Speech By Dr. King

I lived in DC at that time. I was in college after graduating high school in 1967.

BTW, we “rioters” referred to the “riots” as rebellions”. And we even gave the National Guardsmen water when they came on our porch.

Grand Juries Agree: Police Are Authorized to Kill Poor Black Men

Michael,

I appreciate your research as well. As I stated, these cop killings are not new. I think because of social media, cell phones, and video cameras people are more aware. At least white people are more aware. Anyone who has lived in a predominately black community knows these killings happen.

Hi AdLib, et al

I heard a former ATF guy make this comment (paraphrase): In all three cases, Mike Brown, Eric Garner and Tamir Rice, the cops needed to “back up”. Mike Brown had been shot twice. Where was he going to go? If the cop, Darren Wilson, had stayed in his car, maybe called for backup (which was 90 seconds away), Mike would be alive. If you’ve been shot you’re going to try and get medical assistance.

In the case of Eric Garner, once he was on the ground with five or six cops holding him down and others standing around, there was no need for the chokehold or 4 or 5 men sitting on or leaning on his back. If fact, since the cops don’t really know what he was doing, maybe a conversation would have been in order.

Tamir Rice, the 12 year old child. The cop car rolls up and in less than 2 seconds one cop shoots and kills Tamir. The ATF guy said if Tamir had been a man with a real gun the cops would be dead. He said that it was a stupid action. Well trained police would had never handled the situation in this matter. But the child never had a chance. Plus the cops didn’t know there was a video and initially lied.

Unfortunately, these cop killings are NOT new. It’s been going on seems like forever. Malcolm X talked about police brutality in the 60’s. Hell, James Baldwin wrote about police brutality before Malcolm.

The Ferguson Grand Jury Decision

I agree Nirek. Wilson should have been charged. All the protesters have asked for is a fair trial. Not months of bs that occurred. All the leaks, allowing Wilson to tailor his story and the media never asking the really hard questions – just instigating as far as I’m concerned.

» Posted By Sabreen60 On November 24, 2014 @ 4:42 pm

I heard the tape of McCulloch saying that the Judge had agreed to release all evidence. And yes, today I heard that Judge Whittington never agreed to release all evidence.

This just stinks to high heaven. We will never know what was said or not said in the Grand Jury. We will never know how McCulloch presented the evidence and what evidence he presented. We will never know what Wilson said to the GJ and whether or not McCulloch even challenged him on his testimony.

Too Big To Fail Still Irks Me

This is what I said:

People like to talk about throwing the bankers in jail, but thanks to Clinton and Bush, MUCH of what they did was legal.

NO where did I say “bankers haven’t done ANYTHING ILLEGAL.

» Posted By Sabreen60 On November 11, 2014 @ 10:34 am

CL’s Comment:

“When the crash came in 2008 (some of it started in 2007 but was ignored by the Bush administration) it came from ANOTHER unregulated sector, the mortgage brokers. It was they, not banks, that wrote the horrid subprime mortgages. Over 55% of the people shoved into subprimes actually qualified for prime rates, but they were new customers who were preyed upon by the brokers. What the banks MOSTLY did was buy these mortgages, but unlike the old days when they bought YOUR mortgage, they bought ‘bundles’- sort as if all our mortgages were shredded, and they bought strips of many bundled together. One mortgage could be owned, in “strips” by several different banks.

Banks — freed from protecting OUR money by Depression Era Glass-Steagall (named for two dead Senators) could use our SAVINGS and CDs etc. for their insecure gains. THAT is why they were ‘too big to fail’ — it would take down our money just as in 1929. That exceeded the capacity of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to cover.”

This is what I was agreeing to. I don’t think she said or implied that everything the brokers or banks did with mortgages was legal.

CL, IMO, no one explains this stuff better than you and Spandan. It’s amazing to me how you’re able to put all this in layman’s language so that even I can understand it. As you stated, if the banks and especially AIG had been allowed to fail, we would talking about The Great Depression 2.0. And I doubt if the economy would be any where close to the recovery we’ve seen.

People like to talk about throwing the bankers in jail, but thanks to Clinton and Bush, much of what they did was legal. Sure I would have loved to see CEOs and board members wearing stripes, but as you said what they did was legal. Now, they will at least not be able to take down the whole economy again.

An Open Letter to President Obama: Let Republicans Play with Their Own Boehner

Right there with you jjgravitas. I have faith in President Obama and it has not been shaken. Spandan over at The Peoples View has detailed time and time again out President Obama has outsmarted Boehner and the Republicans. Of course, you never here this in the MSM. I don’t buy into the meme that the President has caved to the Republicans. Pelosi and Reid know how to count votes and so does the President. Sure he’s had to compromise. Name me a president who hasn’t. But the truth is anybody paying attention knows he’s come out with the better of the deals.
