Of course they switched in their favor.

No doubt, what I would give to have a viable third party.

The Death of Moderation

I think the MSM has their contrast dial turned up all the way where everything is seen only in black and white and it sells ads.
Capable intellects recognize that everything is really varying shades of grey.
“Thou doth protest too much” personalities, like the squeaky wheel, get the attention of the MSM.
Conflict sells, finger pointing and yelling sells, and hyper-hyperbole sells…
Corporate Capitalism is the 900lb. gorilla riding the pink elephant in the living room and all else takes a back seat on the plastic covered sofa.

Yeah those bourgeoisie teachers making their millions, driving new Mercedes to work from their chalets in the wine country.

Saw that, made for some interesting dialogue. Tried to read the script, but the link was broken.

An interesting idea I saw posted elsewhere, that I’d like to elaborate on:

Couldn’t corporations be considered:
Unions of Capitalist-Owners united to protect the rights of its management and shareholders and same from liabilities and/or prosecution(that union members don’t have).

Also, the Citizens United ( to divide) decision to give these same corporate “unions” more powers of undue influence.

Let me guess they found one of the Koch Brothers (a tumor) hiding in there…

“Follow the money” it all eventually leads to corporations and then back into the Rethuglican coffers.

Worth sharing….”The Disease called ‘Perfection’ “

Brian just wants to prove that he himself is sub-human.

Anthropologists have determined that, on the whole, there really is no definable “race” ( what would be termed species or subspecies) within human populations.
It is completely a social construct and has very little, if any…, scientific worth..

One thing I see, as a man I’m obviously biased, but it appears to me that while I’m sure there is validity in stating that the whole pink thing can be one way to please men.
Women have very high standards for each other.

Whom do you think demands that Pottery Barn etc…carry pink, “feminine” items, the Moms or the Dads?

Who really looks at the labels/styles of women’s clothing, shoes etc. more…men or other women?

Most of the women’s magazines I’ve seen reinforce the stereotypes almost as much as the men’s ( it seems even men’s porn mags, like Playboy show more “healthy” as in non-anorexic body-types)

* I think I might be in trouble for putting that last one out there 😉 .

Great post Abbeyrose ( If that’s your real name friend, I love the olde school-ness of it)
It reminded me of a marriage counselor I went to with my X ( didn’t help in the long run, seeing she’s an X, but we’re both happier and friends now) anyway she ( the counselor) made a an interesting point concerning expectations about “modern” adults.
We expect or try to be ‘perfect’ parents, ‘perfect’ spouses, ‘perfect’ employees, ‘perfect’ friends/relatives…With so many expectations of ourselves and others we are bound to be let down and to let down.
And yet we’re still surprised when it happens… After-all aren’t expectations premeditated resentments anyways.
We all need to be a little easier on ourselves and others and decide what our real and realistic priorities are and should be.
One thing I’ve slowly been trying is to just simplifying things, from the possessions I keep to the activities I do.
There’s a lot to be said for K.I.S.S. and perfection isn’t one of them.

The Deficit of Truth About Obama’s Budget

We can only hope something fruitful comes from this…like a reversal of “We’re United to screw the Citizens”

Agreed, although it’s much more than just toys, it’s access to quality, affordable healthcare, education and being able to collect the social security that we pay into.

Bill Maher’s Big Lie Contribution?

Well said, as soon as someone tries to tell me why what they believe is “right” all I hear is what’s wrong.

» Posted By PlatoSunTsu On February 15, 2011 @ 5:46 pm

I don’t think belief has to be limited to “Supreme Beings” or any type of conscious entity as we would ascribe to it…couldn’t it be in just an underlying order…look at mathematics,a cornucopia of proof there for a higher and unknown order.

I’m right there with you.

» Posted By PlatoSunTsu On February 15, 2011 @ 5:35 pm

Agreed!!!…religious fervor and condescension.

» Posted By PlatoSunTsu On February 15, 2011 @ 5:32 pm

“religion poisons everything” everything? Everything is a pretty broad statement/generalization. I guess it would be important to say that I’m not religious, spiritual yes, but I follow no organized religion, I guess I’m just smart enough ( or dumb enough as you would probably think) to realize that there is more there than I know, a great many things that neither I nor science can adequately explain.
I am also cautious with people that feel they know everything unequivocally and without doubt, whether they are religious or not are the most dangerous of all, there is no black and white in anything… religion included.
I would offer and many would agree that the zealots you speak of act outside the religion that they and you hold them accountable to.
Point taken that many acts are committed in “the name of” religion, just like the crusades etc…but then of course who’s to say these wouldn’t have been committed anyways, just because someone twists a religion in a selfish pursuit does not justify it or condemn it as orthodoxy, alot of the “religious” acts of terrorism you speak of are thinly disguised acts of racism, separatism, nationalism, conquest, expansion etc…
Ya know the thing is five years ago I would’ve agreed with most of what you wrote, completely…I’ve just had experiences that have taught me to look at everything a bit differently…

Yep, Just try to conceive of the space-time continuum for a moment…or eternity…

» Posted By PlatoSunTsu On February 15, 2011 @ 9:18 am

I really find it disheartening when people claiming to be on the ‘left’ openly attack religion for it’s own sake.
I have no problem criticizing (dogging if you will) any of the dogmas of any religion, especially some of the more oppressive aspects, customs, commandments; but the openly aggressive attacks don’t “play” well and speak of blind intolerance.
Religion, in it’s own way, does in fact accomplish positive things and contributes to society, it may well be one of the last things keeping many zealots in check as opposed to the ones that use it to practice zealotry.
Just IMHO

Striking back at the Chamber of Commerce and their dirty tricks squad

So it looks like the only ‘Brotherhood’ we need to be worrying about in this country is Big Brother, looking over our shoulders, watching us and falsifying “information”.

A Rosie Outlook

Good point, when I meet someone that feels the need to tell me they don’t like animals, I immediately distrust them. there’s at least some sociopathy going on there…IMO.

“The only way to go.” I couldn’t agree more.
One rescue dog and one rescue cat in this house.
Ya know PW, I’ve always been a dog person myself and well I like to say I’ve known a few dogs that are/were better ‘people’ than some people I’ve met.
Have you seen the Dogs Decoded: Nova special, very interesting, it’s on Netflix if you’re interested.
