Huffington Post Goes NSA on Its Members

Back in 1994, Maureen Orth wrote a scathing essay on Huffington (Cult Favorite: Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington)which provides all the facts that anybody needed to know about this woman. And her MO was clear even back then.
From her apparently phony marriage strictly for political reasons, to the strange cult she once belonged to- which reportedly involved DIY sex shows for its followers. (It wasn’t just dabbling in the Age of Aquarius either, she attained the highest level – Soul Initiate.)
Orth also includes the charges (twice)of plagiarism – specially in her biographies of Callas and of Picasso. If these reports are true, she allegedly hushed up the charges by settling out of court. (The term “intellectual kleptomaniac” was used by some at that time.)

As I said, given her record, what has transpired at Huffington Post should not come as a shock. As one of her fellow students at Cambridge once said of her, back when she was still in her pupa stages “She was ambitious beyond measure.” So there you go.

Personally I stopped visiting the site soon after the very profitable sale. So much of the work there was done on a voluntary basis, after all. Also I found that the moderation policy generally left extraordinarily rude comments untouched and censored any comment that used supporting links to back up his/her remarks. This seemed quite unfair and irrational to me.

Mandela Thoughts…

You might find this post interesting.
Madela and Reagan: The Truth that Right-Wing Republicans Would Rather Forget

I was surprised (but not so much) how hard people like Dick Cheney fought in the Senate to defeat the Comprehensive Anti-Apartheid Bill from becoming law. Reagan’s veto did not stop it and moderate Republicans (back when they existed) actually joined Democrats to override the president veto.

Never Trust a Politician with Thin Lips

I had to admit it but I have felt the same about this theory, although I wouldn’t let it override my individual impression of somebody I met.

In fact, it’s probably an unconscious observation which goes into making our assessments. Round full lips has long been associated with sensuality (not necessarily sexuality) and perhaps we prefer people who have some kind of subtle seductive qualities. Looking over your choices in the thin lip category, there’s one general quality that critics can point to that connects them. A lack of human empathy or just human connection and maybe in our minds we associate lips with sensuality and that as a sign of humanness.

Thanks for an interesting post!

Why the RNC Convention Proves Romney Should Not Be President

I totally agree. One thing that Romney can NOT do is think on his feet. Obama on the other hand has always shown excellent composure under stage stress. Anytime I need a smile I know I can always go back and watch Mitt pleading with that hostile guffawing Iowa crowd, saying, “Corporations are people, my friends!”

So the debate ought to be fun to watch.

And he tends to get flustered easily- even to the point of showing his anger. If you’ve every watched the Kennedy-Romney debates of 1994, you can clearly see Mitt about to lose his temper over minor (but witty)
remark. (The multiple choice candidate.)

Mitt could always pull a Bush (so to speak) and wear a transmitter on his back. After all, is there nothing he won’t stoop to? Do you remember that? It had to be the craziest thing in US political history!

Somebody commented on another site (I can’t remember which one) about how annoying Mitt Romney was in his acceptance speech because of his sing-song delivery. There was also something odd about the way he kept looking at the camera/ reading the teleprompter. I could not put my finger on it but it looked so phony and unnatural. One thing Mitt is soon going to learn is that debating a man like Obama will quote a bit different than talking to an empty chair.

When Will The Poor Get Their Chance?

Yes. as you might have noticed, I have problems shrinking my thoughts into 144 characters. So many subjects, like the treatment of the poor, deserves a closer look and detailed examination.

Great article. Glad you revised and updated and reposted because it’s really a message that can’t be overstated.
While writing a post, I discovered a fact that had never occurred to me. Minimum wage is very deceptive. It is the minimum amount that an employer has to pay. It’s an important idea. What we really need in this country is a Living Wage- that is, a wage that a person or a family can survive on.

The Neo-conservatives like to paint the concept of the living wage as something cooked by leftist professors. But in fact it has a long and fairly upstanding history. That history, I thought, was interesting. You might enjoy taking a look at it. It is in three parts and covers a lot of territory. The ending is rather sad but it put recent history of one famous organization into better perspective. If you are like me, you’ll probably have an “Ah-hah” moment.

Why Romney and the GOP Can’t Repeal “Obamacare”

Very interesting and well-researched article. Meaning, as usual.:)
I took the liberty of adding a link to this post at my own blog. I wrote a similar post about the repeal vote and saw your writing and thought there was no way I could explain it any better than you did.

Mitt Romney, Donald Trump and The Theory of Relativity

Poor Trump is attempting to kiss Mitt’s behind in order to become the VP. And we know that’s not going to happen. NOT with that mop of his.
However, I have taken it upon myself to offer some style makeover suggestions for the Donald with four well-reasoned alternatives.

Here’s but one example (but it didn’t win)

In fact, this birther nonsense is nothing new. President Chester Arthur 1881–1885 who was supposed to have been born in Vermont had a background that has aroused plenty of suspicions. According to some researchers, his father had not become a US citizen until after Chester’s birth. While the case is much more compelling than the allegations against Obama, I am not sure I believe it but it makes interesting reading.

Believe it or not, I threw this bit of PS (shown below) together nearly four years ago. I thought at the time that this would deal a death blow to this nonsense but I was mistaken.

We can only assume that for people like Trump, it is considered more respectable to believe in birther poppycock and balderdash than just to come right out and say that you don’t a black man as president.
