I am breaking the thread. Sorry. Emerald, I cannot seem to find Kalima journals that list so many stories out and about. When I searched the name, I could not find what I was searching for. Help?

Libertarians Join the Attack on The Southern Poverty Law Center

My O My! Tragic but illuminating. Lots to study and take in. You speak the truth. I love the gray headed man with glasses who is often interviewed about racism.

I guess PBO stepped on a trip wire when he was elected. No more need to hide the racism. They cannot stand the fact that the president is a black man. The ugliness is absolutely stunning.

You nailed it with the following–The racism in the rest of the country is much more insidious. It’s kept hidden, uses euphemistic language and “code words” cloaked in half-truths and obtuse ‘historical references’… and therefore it is far more dangerous.

Can we talk? What do you say when the person asking is a right-winger?

Thoughtful piece. In such a situation it seems the right thing to do is to state your position, listen to the other, and move on. I do not think there is much of a path between the two parties at this point.

You are spot on in talking about the greed of this country. I fear that many, maybe like your friend, do not understand that we are truly an aristocratic nation. When I was in graduate school in the 70s, sociological studies found that this country was fourth in the world in terms of inequality between those who have and those who do not. It is even worse today.

Thank you. I have a difficult time even when dealing with some of my super progressive friends.

This Is What Happens When You Don’t Vote

Marion, I agree with Emerald. Terrific article. I think you are a terrific writer. I love the dry humor that underlies much of what you are relating.

You are correct when you stated that it could be worse. So much worse!

America’s Shameful Culture of Rape

BSM, You are a hero to me for tackling what is still a thorny issue.

» Posted By Dorothy Rissman On August 29, 2011 @ 9:51 am

Thanks Emerald. Unfortunately, many rape victims to this day have to prove they did nothing wrong. There are certainly more victim services for rape victims than there used to be.

» Posted By Dorothy Rissman On August 29, 2011 @ 9:49 am

Exactly. Michael and KO released the name of the woman who claimed to have been raped. They actually twittered her name to almost two million people. Andrew Sullivan is the one who took her side and exposed KO and MM. That woman, because of Keith and MM, was hounded for weeks. They stood outside her apartment, took over her email and her phone. She was a wreck.

I do not know that Julian was guilty, but Keith and MM were total louts in this instance.

I will rant with you. I am not ashamed to say that I woke up with a knife at my throat in my own home. I went through a trial in which all 6 victims told their stories. He was convicted, but only for one of the rapes. One of the victims was 13 years old.

He got five years in prison. Who is he bothering now? Prior to the rapes, he was kicked out of a state mental hospital for beating two staff people. He was put back on the street because he was too violent. He raped six women. Two of them were almost killed.

I tell this because I worked with the police and victim groups after my rape. I am not ashamed to tell my story. It is vital that we do.

Blue State Man thank you for being so sensitive to this issue.

AmeRicka

Thank you for the welcome. I understand how you feel. I am a visual artist, and I have a one person gallery show every year, and of course, I love the compliments. If a viewer feels the piece doesn’t work, that is fine, as long as they state it in a thoughtful and a reasonable manner. On occasion you can learn something from those encounters.

Those who say things like “it’s interesting”. Well, that usually mean they think it is garbage.

It is kind of like saying, well, it isn’t too bad. LOL!

Parsifals, I used to read everything by Atwood. Perhaps it is time to take a look at some newer work.

Thank you Adonai. Your first paragraphs drew my interest, and I actually chuckled at a few of your comments, and then, paragraph by paragraph, you built the darkness of the story. Let’s just say I am pretty sober now.

AdonaI. At times it feels as if everyone who voted for him has turned against him, but it is not true. It’s the media stupid! Hit myself in the head.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/148760/obama-weekly-approval-liberal-support-remains-high.aspx

Among libs he still stands pretty strong, it is the moderate dems who are bringing down his numbers. If you look at how the repugs rate him it is a disaster. The problem is that msm always listens to those who who scream the loudest.

Separated at Birth…Or the GOP Lineup Revealed?

I mean it is pretty cruel, but I had to laugh because so many of them made sense. Good job.

Ron Paul: A Rose By Any Other Name

Bill can be pretty funny. He basically earns his living by making fun of others. Yet, I think he is pretty thin skinned himself. And maybe a little dense. He has been on a long campaign against PBO. Just wasn’t the kind of black man Bill was looking for.

In other words, Bill is incredibly fickle. As to the Ron and Rand issue, I think the reason he likes Ron is because he wants to legalize all drugs. This issue is a major priority in Bill’s life.

Marion, thank you for the work you put into this piece. It was great fun seeing those videos again.

Message to the Lazy Left: THIS Is How It Starts!

Bravo Marion. In someways this reminds me of the sixties. A time of turmoil and change that moved us forward as a country. Well, it is happening again, but this time the actors involved are corrupt. They want to turn the country back to a time of inequality in civil rights, education, and the list goes on and on.
