Ladies and Gentlemen, Our Corporate Anthem

I’ll be interested to see what you come up with.

The modern Randians don’t seem to realize how far from some of her basic tenets they have wandered. Her absolute disdain for middlemen and religion, are two that come to mind immediately.

There’s a lot to work with.

Yes, the language. George Lakoff speaks to this. There are a lot of issues that cross party lines, and this is the big one.

One of the questions in my mind is why – why is it that the Democratic party fails so badly in this area. Is it a lack of will or is it a lack of commitment to the principles? Or, is it the money?

We can talk one-on-one to the people in our areas, but until there’s serious buy-in from our candidates we’re not going to get very far.

I think it’s time to put a lot of pressure on those candidates to walk the walk. The alternative, in my mind, is to work towards a progressive third party. Win, lose or draw, the presence of a strong progressive movement cannot help but drag the political spectrum to the left. The Right has succeeded because the only alternative – as they’ve been told – is the “elites” on the “radical left”.

It’s our call, imho.

Huffington Post Goes NSA on Its Members

I’m glad that you still have a voice there, Murph. Many of us could not get a meaningful comment posted. At all. There is no value there for me.

I hope you can make a difference there for the people who decided to stay. I chose to close my account. I could not tolerate the lies and censorship they employed.

I will enjoy the articles you post here.

… or “The Poo”!

An excellent article, AdLib. I got a lot out of the exchanges between you, Murph and RF, as well.

I hope HP does read this and take it to heart, although I cannot imagine going back after the way the community has been treated since AOL took over.

I joined HP in January 2010, after reading articles and comments there for some time. The lure was the great wealth of information and insight from so many brilliant posters there, and the only reason I stayed as long as I did.

I’m happy to see POV growing such a vibrant community, and I look forward to spending time here. Thanks for all of your hard work!

Where do we go from here on jobs? – or – How we learned to love to knit.

Hi, SueInCa – thanks for the welcome. Yep, I know you from HP, pretty sure I fanned you, too – it’s a much nicer atmosphere here!

Thanks for the welcome, choicelady.

I’m glad I could share that link, I’m hopeful that it will be worth the effort.

Creating away, I haven’t had the urge to knit any names into a creation, yet! 😉

Happy to contribute whatever I can. Great to see you, too!

Thanks, AdLib! This one strikes me as having a better chance of being read than many, I join you in hoping to be heard.

This is about to go active, funksands – http://www.whitehouse.gov/wethepeople. The effectiveness of the citizen-generated petitions will depend upon the number of signatures it collects.

Me, I’m knitting like you read about.

Bageant and Webb: Virginia Will Miss’Em

Three cheers! This is an excellent article, and you have captured the scenario very well. The Democratic Party would do well to remember it’s roots as the party of the working people of the country. Thank you.

Montana tea party on crack … or something

Great article, Haruko – it’s mind-boggling that the party of tea is still seen by their followers as being beyond reproach. The only thing I can deduce from this is that not only do they lie, but their followers are good with it. “By any means necessary” – wasn’t that a 60’s counter-culture theme?

BudgetPOV: You are the Hand that Feeds You (and Your Family)

Good article, 2ndClassCitizenPundit. An approach I would add is to barter with your neighbors, if you have the good fortune to live in a community where it’s possible.

I have extra freezer space, and a small but functional kitchen, and I would jump at the chance to trade storage and/or cooking privileges for some help with some maintenance and handy-man type assistance. I don’t drive, either, so a weekly ride to do errands would be another good trade for me. You may be able to find older people on limited incomes who would be happy to engage in mutually beneficial arrangements.
