marines - war

I don’t believe we should commit our military to war without first giving a lot of thought and research into why we should or shouldn’t put them in harm’s way.

obama rainbow

The idea that Obama did NOT do anything on LGBT equality is something that HP has been suggesting almost from the very beginning of his first term. The same goes for his record on job creation. At the very moment that his historic decisions were producing their first effects, HP was eagerly joining the GOTP choir that was crying ‘Where are the jobs?’.

Bad guys with guns are always on offense and can kill anyone at any time. Good guys with guns are necessarily on defense and rarely in the vicinity of bad guys with guns…and they could only act AFTER the bad guy has pulled out his gun and shot someone. ows - Freedom Plaza

At a time in our nation’s history when our Supreme Court has chosen the wealthy to dominate our politics and the press has mostly abandoned their duty to empower the public with truth, how can the people find their way back to a true and responsive democracy?

Thought “The Death Panel” was a right wing hoax? Nope. The SCOTUS became a real death panel, allowing states to refuse expanding Medicaid to let the uninsured working poor die from medical neglect. The ongoing deaths of thousands of Americans will now be a dark legacy of The Roberts Court.

Putin crosseyed

“Reality poses a threat to Russia and its future so purely as a matter of self-defense, I have ordered Russian troops to move to the border of Reality and stand ready to use force to defend our country,” Putin declared.

the-saint-patrick39s-day-parade3

On a day when some of these same homophobes who are marching in their “No Gays Need Apply” parades will be dressed in brightly colored clothes, descend on bars in droves getting drunk and hanging all over other men then possibly end up on their knees in a toilet stall, they are hardly in a position to judge others on their behavior as being socially undesirable.

Putin’s game plan has been clear, using Russia’s renewed oil revenues and supplies to support and control those countries that undermine stability for the rest of the world to create a space for Russia to wedge itself back in as the most powerful and threatening force among nations.

Job Fair

The question to be asked of Republicans about the poor, aside from, “How can you be such complete assholes?!” is, “Really, there are well paying jobs out there just waiting for the poor to apply but the poor won’t because they’re way too comfy being poor? Name those specific jobs.”

With the issues India has with gang rape alone, let alone their overall treatment of their women in general, perhaps the best message one could convey to them is don’t bite the flag that feeds you.

What if there was one vote that could be held, one campaign that could be focused on to pass one law that if passed, could help with many of our most serious problems? There is…

He was the greatest leader of my lifetime…   As a student at the University of Colorado in the 1970s, I was part of an effort that fought against apartheid and urged my university to divest. Eventually it did. As a journalist in the 1990s in Colorado and Northern Virginia, […]

Now that the main problems with the Obamacare website have been mitigated, the Republicans find themselves as mourners at a funeral where there is no body to bury.
