AdLib is online.
  • AdLib : Night!

  • PatsyT : Night All

  • AdLib : CL – I had no idea that they would have such political decision making. Yes, let’s discuss next week. Sleep well!

  • choicelady : And now to bed… g’night you two! Don’t stay up all night playing canasta.

  • choicelady : AdLib – no I have NOT heard of it. Let’s talk. Sounds intriguing. Did you know that the firms carrying the petitions can REFUSE ones they don’t like? Seems VERY wrong, and we need to talk about that. The firms are what killed off the drive for a Constitutional Convention since none would carry the petitions. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!!!

  • AdLib : Right Patsy, will do!

  • AdLib : Patsy – Same thing, get some rest and find some time to relax this weekend!

  • PatsyT : Hugs to you Choicelady…

  • PatsyT : Lets not forget that post for Obama

  • AdLib : Oh, just saw your comment, get some sleep CL! Great seeing you tonight.

  • PatsyT : Hey I am fading too and another big day tomorrow!

  • AdLib : CL – Have you heard of the Ballot Initiative Strategy Center? It was referred to me by one of the folks at Netroots.

  • choicelady : PAtsy and AdLib – I need to go. I’m fading. I hope to be with you next week! Have a super weekend and we’ll talk soon. Hugs to you both!

  • PatsyT : I didn’t know that – Single payer for CA !Love it !

  • AdLib : CL – I’m definitely on that!

  • choicelady : AdLib – I do think we can select single payer as our state option. And then stand back and wait for the propositions to fly trying to kill it. That among many other things will be why we will need TIPA and SOON.

  • AdLib : And that’s on the first day.

  • AdLib : “Rahm Gets The Boot!” 2,378,998 views.

  • AdLib : CL – Very cool! Do you think, as the HCR bill supports, we could get Single Payer in CA?

  • choicelady : Youtube: “AdLib Boots Rahm’s Butt” Yup – it would get quite a lot of hits.

  • AdLib : TIAP – And think of all the YouTube hits we’d get!

  • AdLib : Seeya TIAP!

  • TakeInAPlay : Rachel’s the only one who would cover it

  • choicelady : TIAP – good night. I need to go soon, too. I’m doing a radio live feed on single payer tomorrow. Need to get my beauty sleep to be seen on the radio! Good night TIAP.

  • AdLib : TIAP – Not only can you watch, I will have Rachel there with full coverage.

  • TakeInAPlay : See y’all next Friday.

  • TakeInAPlay : There is always fun mixed in.

  • PatsyT : Nighty night TIAP !

  • TakeInAPlay : AdLib, I’ll buy you the boots but only if I can watch!

  • AdLib : TIAP – Hope that includes some fun this weekend! Great seeing you!

  • choicelady : AdLib – ass kicking is in your job description. Rahm’s in particular.

  • PatsyT : I like It AdLib to replace Rahm !

  • TakeInAPlay : Well, now that we’ve re-designed the whole Dem strategy I think it’s time to call it a night. I have a full agenda this weekend so I better get to it.

  • AdLib : CL – Okay, I accept Rahm’s job…as long as I can personally and literally kick his ass out of the WH.

  • choicelady : AdLib – I’m with you on that! Maybe he needs YOU in the Oval Office!

  • AdLib : CL – In cracking security codes there is an approach called Brute Force. This is what Obama needs to do, he has to break out of his bubble and take back control of the political discourse by being aggressive about it. DO THINGS! SAY THINGS! LAUNCH INITIATIVES! ATTACK THE HATERS! He needs to be aggressive now or he’ll continued to be dog piled on by the GOP and MSM.

  • choicelady : AdLib – “right” as in “correct”. Stupid that we can’t use a perfectly good word anymore!

  • choicelady : AdLib – 100% fucked up. I stood with Muslims over and over when they issued fatwas against violence from within Islam, denounced violence in Palestine and elswhere, and despite the fact these were PRESS conferences, there were NO stories about what was said. We all need to march on our news outlets and demand fair coverage! Boycott advertisers if need be to get decent reporting!

  • AdLib : Lakoff has my vote too, replacing Rahm with him would be a huge shift in the right direction…or should I say left?

  • choicelady : AdLib – yes, I agree that Obama has to reclaim the message and the information. To do that he needs the same “rapid response” that got him elected – NO charge goes unremarked. But how to deal with reporters who slime him and change what he says? The Bee does it all the time.

  • PatsyT : Choicelady I know I loved seeing the families reunite ! Those little kids seeing their daddy!

  • TakeInAPlay : I second the Lakoff nomination. He would certainly get things moving forward and bring everyone together.

  • AdLib : Absolutely, we have the pullout of combat troops in Iraq and it’s treated like a page 20 story…meanwhil e, building a Muslim Center in an old building in NY blocks from Ground Zero is the headline. How fucked up is that?

  • choicelady : Patsy – it was incredible, and I guess CNN talked about it but only MSNBC showed it. It was so moving – and it was ahead of the schedule, and it is DONE. Violence is not over, but the WAR IS. Obama did that, and it’s as if no one cares!

  • AdLib : CL – It certainly wouldn’t hurt to do so, I always bring up Obama’s remarkable list of accomplishments and will continue. However, I think to really change the dynamic, there needs to be a sudden shift in how Obama is allowing the GOP to control the political discussion in this nation.

  • choicelady : AdLib and Patsy – then Obama needs to recruit George Lakoff on messaging. He used Lakoff’s principles in the campaign, and he needs to go back to basics. Assert the American values we SHARE, and then show how his policies enact them. Out with Rahm, in with George!

  • PatsyT : Choicelady YES !! Where was all the coverage on that? The MSNBC guy was the only one there. He asked to go and was surprised no other networks had asked to be there

  • AdLib : TIAP – Rahm is a pro at the game but his interests are ultimately pro-corporate as those from the DLC are. He tried to kill HCR repeatedly and it is to Obama’s credit that he ignored Rahm’s advice to give up on HCR and just pass the few things Repubs would agree to.

  • TakeInAPlay : I agree AdLib. The opposition feeds on fear and uncertainty. Logic and facts play no part in their decision making. They’re more concerned with being right than being accurate.

  • choicelady : AdLib – I understand the emotions, but I think the constant drum beat from all of us would help the wobbly middle. I’m never one to try to convert (well, anyone) the far right, but I DO know the wobbly center needs information! And they are NOT getting it!

  • choicelady : Patsy – I think many of them are, some are teabaggers, some are just dumb.

  • AdLib : CL – Much as I wish that reminding people of all Obama’s accomplishments would work, I don’t think it would. People are being driven by emotion right now and my thought is that they can only be moved by an appeal to their emotions. I just don’t think reason and facts can really get through to people who are angry.

  • choicelady : One point about MSM – I watched the special on MSNBC on the pull out of combat troops and just cried. It was so amazing – Obama DID it! And the Sacramento Bee headline was on furloughs with only a SIDEBAR on the pull out. That was HISTORIC and got almost NO attention!

  • TakeInAPlay : I agree that Rahm has to go. He’s brilliant at campaigns but he’s too afraid of what the neighbors will think to steer any significant growth in the party.

  • PatsyT : ChoiceLady I always wonder how many of those posters are paid from the GOP

  • choicelady : One thing we all can do is post – HP or LETs or Op Eds or whatever, pointing out the accomplishments and reminding people of the Reagan Recession and all Bush’s failures.

  • AdLib : TIAP – Yes, that’s the thing, Obama is not a man who is afraid of things…unlike Bush and the Repubs who have the seed of fear passed down to them through their mothers and fathers (right Graham?). SO, he is capable of doing something bold but the conservatives like Rahm in his cabinet will no doubt keep warning him away from doing so.

  • AdLib : TIAP – SO true what Van Jones said. As is the fact that short sighted voters want the people back in charge who rammed the ship into the iceberg just to show those trying to save the ship that their pace is unsatisfactory.

  • TakeInAPlay : Afterall, he bit off some major projects from day one so he’s not afraid to fight the good fight.

  • AdLib : TIAP – The list of his accomplishments in a year and a half far outnumber Bush’s 8 years and his failures are far outnumbered by Bush. He has done a lot but he needs to transcend who he has been if he wants to be an effective president from this point forward…especi ally with the Repub gains coming in Nov.

  • TakeInAPlay : As Van Jones said, we need to remember that Obama agreed to steer the boat after it hit the iceberg. We need to give him credit for what he’s done.

  • TakeInAPlay : I hope you’re right Patsy. And AdLib, I think you’re on to something. There is a difference between reaching consensus and getting what you want. You have to be willing to compromise when you bring people together and you have to have no stake in the outcome. His desire to play nice has made him give up the things that were important, like the public option. Sometimes making waves doesn’t build consensus but it gets you what you want.

  • AdLib : TIAP – As for being a one-termer, it’s possible but if he was treated fairly by the MSM, his accomplishments would be seen as amazing. And though enough people out there might be willing right now to vote with their hatred instead of their intellect, when faced with a President Romney, I think it might sober up enough to re-elect Obama.

  • choicelady : TIAP – I think it’s possible, but I also remember how BAD Clinton was until OK City. That saved him, really. He was bold and kind in his leadership, and it rescued him from the absolute mediocrity of his administration. Obama however has actually DONE a huge amount of what he promised, and he’s getting no credit for it from anyone. The Left hates that he did not drag Bush and Cheney out in chains, and the right hates him just because he exists. He’s a victim less because of failed policies – he’s accomplished them – than a pure desire of many people just to hate him. We got in the habit of detesting anyone in the Oval Office over the past 30 years, and we’re not about to give up what’s familiar.

  • PatsyT : TIAP That does not have to happen – No one should underestimate Obama

  • AdLib : If you look at Obama’s history though, he is more of a guy who wants to bring people together, a community organizer, I just don’t know if he has it in him to be more of a firebrand who’s willing to acknowledge that he has enemies who can’t be turned and shouldn’t be coddled.

  • TakeInAPlay : Here, here CL!!!! I couldn’t agree more.

  • TakeInAPlay : when Obama was a candidate I was afraid that he’d be swept into office with a platform of change, not be able to make that change happen and end up a 1 term President. Does anyone think that may happen or am I just seeing the worst case scenario?

  • choicelady : TIAP – Arianna has taken so much credit for things she never did – that real progressives have done for years – and people let her get away with it!

  • AdLib : TIAP –

  • AdLib : CL – Well said!

  • AdLib : I want MY Obama back!

  • AdLib : CL – HP is multimillion dollar hedge-fund owned enterprise, their decisions have to serve their financial interests first and their political or philosophical interests second or they could be sued by their shareholders.

  • choicelady : I want the Obama who said to the Republicans in the bipartisan discussion on health care that the time was equally divided between Dems and Reeps, and when the Reeps whined the Dems got more, Obama said, no – HE had more. “I am the President.” He said it firmly, and without flinching. It’s almost as if the racist BS has gotten to him and he’s scared to be bold for seeming uppity as the Reeps have said. I say call it OUT. LET them say shit like that! It makes it all the more clear.

  • TakeInAPlay : I need a President with balls, I don’t care what color!

  • PatsyT : You don’t have to get angry to tell the truth

  • AdLib : The real question is, does Obama have it in him to step up so boldly? I was hoping he would stand up boldly against the Repubs after they blocked and watered down all of his initiatives but he never did. Just a few isolated words here and there. Maybe he believes the BS that America would be afraid of an angry black man so he’s concerned about showing the strength and forcefulness we need now. I don’t know.

  • TakeInAPlay : I’ve never been a fan of Arianna. She’s a major diva to work with and she’s never really contributed as much to the debate as she thinks she has.

  • PatsyT : I Want My Obama Back !

  • choicelady : TIAP – I agree. I want “my” Obama back! Bring back the fire!

  • TakeInAPlay : One thing I admired about Obama during the campaign was his ability to stand on his own. I don’t see that anymore. I know being the President means he’s held in a bubble, but I agree with you 100% that he shouldn’t rely so much on his advisors. He needs to restore some of that independence that made him such a compelling candidate.

  • choicelady : AdLib – that Arianna would let GB have links but not us is purely sympomatic of the reasons the “left” fails. We are totally unkind to one another. No solidarity (making all the 60s rhetoric pretty meaningless)no respect, total competition against one another. It’s disgusting.

  • AdLib : Definitely, Rahm must go!

  • AdLib : TIAP – I agree, I noted below that I don’t even feel I have that strong a sense of Obama’s identity anymore. He needs badly to assert himself and enforce upon the nation who he is. That has all gotten lost behind a sea of cabinet people and advisors.

  • choicelady : TIAP – I think he IS committed, but his handlers are telling him to back down and play it “safe” – but “safe” is not what his base wants. We want TR, FDR, and Clinton (without the women) all rolled into one – and we do need Obama’s energy and vision BOLDLY stated. Rahm has GOT to go and anyone else who’s telling him to be quiet.

  • AdLib : CL – Heh! Indeed! I don’t know, I could try emailing someone over at HP but I wouldn’t know who to email.

  • choicelady : AdLib – that’s disgusting. I’d love to see a syrupy note about who wonderful Arianna is and soooo different from PlanetPov and watch it get deleted!!!! Of course I’d be the only one in on the joke…

  • TakeInAPlay : Have a safe drive HITO.

  • AdLib : Sleep well HITO, again, you are a true friend!

  • PatsyT : Hi TIAP !

  • PatsyT : All the Best to you HITO !!!

  • AdLib : CL – BTW, The Drudge Report, Glenn Beck and others at FOx, all their links are fine.

  • TakeInAPlay : I think Obama has forgotten what fiery is. I don’t see him as committed to anything anymore.

  • choicelady : Good night HITO – have a good rest and safe drive.

  • AdLib : CL – Yes, if you use our web address at HP your comment will go to moderation then be deleted.

  • choicelady : Hi TIAP! Nice to see you.

  • HITO : I’ve got to go take a nap. I’m sorry. I have to be on the road at 3:30 EST down to the city. I really would rather stay, but I have a 3 hour drive each way. Good night my friends, and thank you very much for your wonderful insights. (Patsy good luck next week…bring kleenex and bottled water cause the cafeteria is too far away.)

  • AdLib : Hey TIAP! Great to see ya! We’re talking about urging Obama to come out with a fiery speech to the nation, calling the Repubs on all the hatred and racism and trying to keep the country failing just for cynical political gain.

  • choicelady : What SArah knows about “real responsibilities ” you could put in the palm of her hand. And still have room for the notes.

  • PatsyT : This would also be a good exercise for those who think they have all the answers … Real governing is very hard … hey, anyone remember quitter Palin saying at the repub convention “Being a governor is kinda like being a community organizer only it is just that you have actual responsibilities “

  • choicelady : AdLib – HP BLOCKED PLANETPOV??????? ? OK – now I am REALLY peeved! That’s outrageous censorship, just proving the gummint isn’t the real enemy.

  • TakeInAPlay : Hey all! Sorry I’m late. What’s the topic?

  • AdLib : Patsy – Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a BMW. The poor folks want fairness, I don’t know what to do. Worked hardly all my lifetime, got tax cuts for the few, So Lord, won’t you buy me a BMW?

  • choicelady : AdLib – I like that about the letter and the speech. It’s definitely worth doing, and thanks for such a super idea!

  • HITO : CL, you are too funny. Scab picking is spot on!

  • choicelady : HITO — LOL – I walk away for over 24 hours, but it’s usually because I forget, not by intention! But there is something alluring about it, isn’t there? Like picking at a scab…

  • HITO : CL: Nah, nobody bought into it. Everyone complains, but no one could walk away for 24 hours. It would have been noticed and maybe somethings would have gotten addressed. Adlib, I’ll keep my eye out over here…can you put up the link as well or should I email you for it?

  • choicelady : Oooh Patsy I’d forgotten Janis’ great song on that! One heavily made up and wigged evangelist (you shoulda seen his wife) told a story about a guy who found Jayzuz and got himself a condo in Florida and a Mer SAY deez Bendz. Must be nice…

  • AdLib : I think there are two documents that should come out of this proposed post, one should be the cover letter to Obama, including words of encouragement to step up as have been written here and another as a sample of the type of speech we wouls like to see him give.

  • choicelady : HITO – I missed that. Hope I didn’t post on a don’t post day!

  • PatsyT : BMW ?? «link»

  • HITO : CL: I tried to rally a “don’t post on hp for one day” event to get some attention from hp’s control center. No one wanted to do it.

  • choicelady : HITO – one of the conservative Reep Assembly members in CA said almost that. What the F can I do about the poor? He rather missed the second line that said YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING IT BETTER. For THEM, not yourself!!!!

  • AdLib : HITO AND CL – Thanks for offering, I understand the issues with trolls and deletions there. When the post is up, I will provide a special link to the post since HP has put our web address on their blocked list.

  • choicelady : HITO – I had a completely innocuous post deleted over there. I’m an historian by background, and they routinely delete ALL references to past matters that don’t fit the knee jerk frame. I think all three of your reasons are right – rogues, loose Reeps, bad tech.

  • HITO : lol…let me buy a BMW!

  • HITO : Thank you CL. Wow. I am humbled.

  • choicelady : Patsy T – depends on which verse. “The poor you will always have with you” can and has led to “so what the hell can I do about it, let me buy a BMW.” I’ll find the right one. And some other relevant stuff. The Bible has GOOD things in it as well as crappy things.

  • AdLib : CL – “Stand up, President O – we believe in you, and you CAN turn this country around! Be bold! Be foresighted! Be brave!” That is the kind of message we need to send to Obama, indeed!

  • HITO : Adlib, I’ll try. The deletions on HP are out of control. Either rogue dems, or they’ve given the deletion function to a couple of Repubs. Or their software is all fucked up again. Pick one.

  • AdLib : bito – Yes, I saw that about Obama’s numbers which is pretty remarkable considering the shitstorm he stepped into. At the same time, this nation is becoming a powderkeg and if it goes off, it could destroy all of that for Obama.

  • choicelady : AdLib – HITO and I both do HP. I always am pleased to see HITO there. Only real sense, may I say. So yes, we will put out the call only – you KNOW the trolls will come our way, too?

  • PatsyT : Choicelady, how about quoting scriptures – The poor ye will have with ye always- The repubs like to pretend that they are not really there.

  • HITO : O’s going to have to romance the nation again, at least the dems. They need to fall in love with him all over again. And that can only happen based on him summoning that character and strength that he showed in the primaries.

  • choicelady : AdLib – I agree that we’ve lost the real Obama, and I do think the advisors, wimps that they are, are largely to blame. Stand up, President O – we believe in you, and you CAN turn this country around! Be bold! Be foresighted! Be brave!

  • AdLib : HITO – Right, we’ll keep it open for at least a week. Maybe you and other folks who are at HP a bit could invite people to offer their POVs and sign it. The more names on a call for Obama to step up on this, the better.

  • choicelady : Bito – you didn’t KNOW we were in deep shit? You’re so sweet!

  • AdLib : HITO – Yes, I do feel myself like I can’t get a hold of Obama as an individual. He needs to assert himself as THE leader of our nation and he could turn things around. Americans respect strength, even when idiots like Bush pretend to have it.

  • HITO : When an “independent slash former Repub” like Bloomberg is doing the right thing…we are in deep shit.

  • choicelady : Oh bito – I did NOT know that! I did look up the Reagan Recession and saw that unemployment was HIGHER than it is now and lasted for 2-4 years at around 10% and there was NO recession after the first year. We need to keep hammering on that.

  • AdLib : CL – That is what I sadly expected to be growing across the country. Think about it, New York of all places has become a place for intolerance. It’s everywhere and intensifying, like a cancer, spreading all over. It has to be stamped out and only Obama could do that.

  • HITO : Adlib, I like that idea. Don’t close the window to do so too early, OK?

  • bitohistory : Did you not see what i posted? Obama’s polling numbers are higher than Reagans at their first midterm. All is not lost.

  • choicelady : Patsy – I think Obama nees to “go Roosevelt” – bold strokes on message, refusal to capitulate to the hatemongers, and an assertion that we’ve always been strongest when we work together. He needs to remind us that our best programs – Medicare and Social Security – need to be strengthened and expanded. Care for one another is an American value!

  • HITO : So Obama has lost his original, singular identity. Is that the problem bottom line? How does a POTUS hold onto that, especially in these difficult times.

  • AdLib : Patsy – Let’s put that up as a post tomorrow and seek contributions from everyone as to what they would want Obama to say to the nation about all of this.

  • PatsyT : AdLib, just gathering all kind of views on – What do you want our President to say ? Would be a great thing.

  • choicelady : AdLib – it’s gotten scary ugly. Yes, there are lots of my folks standing in the doorway to protect Muslims. Yes the GLBT community is solidary and not backing down. But I’ve had violence all around me just in this last month, and if we don’t have a “DO NOT TOLERATE” message from the White House it won’t stop. It won’t stop anyway, but it might ease off.

  • HITO : CL: Agree. Now he’s got Gibbs out there and I’m not thrilled with his performances of late.

  • AdLib : HITO – You’re right about Obama having baggage and being tagged negatively by Dems as well as Repubs. He needs to break out of all that and taking a tough aggressive one-man campaign on fighting hatred and intolerance would be a great way to do that.

  • PatsyT : AdLib Yes That what I’m talking about!

  • AdLib : CL – I’m sure it’s getting uglier and uglier out there. The thing is, it feels like only a matter of time until more violence results from this whipping up of hatred. If Obama thinks it’s too problematic now to address, what problems will he have if this racist hatred boils over into riots?

  • choicelady : AdLib – I like that: playing defense just ain’t gonna climb that hill. Through the 2008 campaign, he never let a smarmy remark go unanswered. Now? He passes on them all, and it gives the other side room to expand. Like Harry Potter’s aunt, they expand! He has to stop that.

  • HITO : The Warren appointment should have happened. She is qualified and it would have sent a message “OK, done with this, next?”

  • choicelady : HITO – I agree. I really want those guys GONE. Obama has GOT to appoint Elizabeth Warren or appear to be totally in the banks’ hip pockets.

  • AdLib : Patsy – That would be a positive exercise. We could write the kind of speech we’d want Obama to deliver and get people to sign on.

  • HITO : Adlib, he has baggage now. Rahm, Geithner, Petraeus, all perceived negatively at times and now associated as being Obama’s choices.

  • choicelady : AdLib – it’s a dream for me since I’m wheat intolerant, and the enjera bread is teff and barley. But I’m about to pop I’m so full!

  • AdLib : Hey CL! Mmm…sounds delicious! Been a while since I had Ethiopian.

  • choicelady : PatsyT – it WAS delicious. Messy as all get out, but absolutely wonderful.

  • choicelady : Hi AdLib – I’d like Obama to do what you all are suggesting and talk about how we are one nation, free, and that requires respect for differences. I’m wading into the “hate Muslims” broohaha, and the vituperation is scary bad. He needs to lead us out.

  • AdLib : bito and HITO – It’s not worth the hassle to argue with those who don’t care about facts or the truth, what’s the point? And people are justifiably lacking in enthusiasm, Obama is not pushing back as hard as he is being pushed and as much as I respect his even keeled demeanor, now is a time for fighting for this nation and energizing those who want what’s best for it. Playing defense just ain’t gonna climb that hill.

  • HITO : Hi CL.

  • PatsyT : Hey Choicelady, sound delicious !

  • choicelady : Hi everyone – sorry to be late to the table. I was out eating Ethiopian, and it slowed me down! LOTS of great food.

  • HITO : I look up above my desk at my wall of graphics…I see the Obama one where he is pointing and the caption “I Got This”.

  • PatsyT : Lets write the speech for Obama … I mean what would you like to hear him stand and deliver?

  • HITO : In my community, I see a change also. People are disappointed, not “fired up” anymore. Granted it is usually from the media’s misinformation.

  • AdLib : HITO – That is what burns me up about the spoiled-brat Dems out there. Obama hasn’t delivered everything they wanted (or what I wanted) but like brats, they scream like they’re on fire…without using a little part of their brain to imagine what a President Romney and Repub Congress in 2012 would do to this nation.

  • bitohistory : HITO, I don’t think HP is any guage. Our “weekly” (left) has nothing ut RW commenters. Most leftys left-not worth the hassle

  • HITO : Adlib “pick and choose”. Interesting concept. That is what is happening.

  • PatsyT : Obama can do this- preach Fire !

  • AdLib : Patsy – That’s what I’m syaing too. Obama should step up and speak to the nation about how this hatred is destroying our country and is unAmerican. He should lay out that true Americans respect the entire Constitution and those that pick and choose are not respect-worthy Americans. He needs to preach fire on this now, sitting back and hoping things will turn around in the future is not what’s needed now.

  • HITO : Only time they hush is a “what if McCain had won”. Silence of course. God help us if that had happened. He’d nuke all our problems away.

  • HITO : If hp is anything to use as a gauge, I am amazed at the numbers of dems that do not like Obama anymore. Have lost faith because they didn’t get their sweeping changes they expected.

  • PatsyT : Bito LOLOL me too !

  • AdLib : HITO – I know, I see it too. For Repubs, it’s easy. They have no principles to differ on with each other, just winning. That makes unity very easy. Dems actually think for themselves which does cause more difficulty in being united.

  • bitohistory : I don’t belong to an organized party — I’m a Democrat.

  • PatsyT : AdLib they need their leader to do it for them and that will have to be Obama

  • HITO : Dems argue too much amongst themselves. I’ve seen libs go at it over the details. Just sad.

  • AdLib : HITO – That will indeed be their downfall. I’m not saying the Dems should be mindless robots marching in step like the Repubs but when they are all under attack by the Repubs, why can’t they band together?

  • HITO : As an example, I watch how the Repubs on HP join together to spin. They support each other in their delusion. Dems argue too much.

  • PatsyT : I hope Obama gets out in front of this bs and fast

  • bitohistory : Obamas poll numbers are higher than St. Ronnie at his first mid-term. Does anyone bring that up on the MSM?

  • AdLib : Why can’t the Dems and Obama realize it’s in all of their interests to respond as one to each racist and offensive “issue” thrown out by Repubs?

  • HITO : Adlib, it’s all about being united. And the dems are not. It will be our downfall.

  • AdLib : My big problem with everything that’s going on is that Obama and the Dems seem to be too concerned about the ramifications of calling bullshit on all of the Repubs bullshit so they allow it to become debate fodder. If the Dems and Obama would work together and respond in a united way to expose the fraud that Repubs are in each case, the conversation will eventually change to being about the Repubs being mercenary assholes.

  • PatsyT : Hey what Biden said is right on – This is not your fathers Republican Party!

  • HITO : Bito: “Bananas are alien fruit”…LOL

  • bitohistory : I think the Old man would like to slap the younger Graham. Not that he was without fault

  • PatsyT : Amen!

  • AdLib : Is it true that brains are passed down only from non-prejudiced preachers to their sons?

  • PatsyT : Graham and his followers

  • HITO : Adlib, Ok, BRB

  • AdLib : Bananas may be Christian.

  • HITO : Graham said it so matter of factly, he really believes that bullshit.

  • AdLib : Yes HITO, I see them. You may want to clear your cache and restart your browser.

  • bitohistory : Bananas have no seeds! Alien fruit!!

  • AdLib : If there are no demon seeds in Graham’s twisted version of Christianity, where do all the demons grow from?

  • PatsyT : HITO yes

  • HITO : Wow, I was lost in another dimension for a bit. My comments weren’t posting. Hope you can see this.

  • PatsyT : Oh no you said watermelon

  • PatsyT : Bito, yes no demons there – ever!

  • bitohistory : That is the only reason I am letting Harry slide– Right Angle

  • AdLib : bito – Yes, I saw that. Christianity is seedless. Like watermelon.

  • AdLib : Patsy – As if when Muslims are born, there is a magical seed of Islam that is implanted in them that needs to be surgically removed before it grows and takes over their minds? Invasion of the Body Snatchers is his template for religion?

  • bitohistory : He did say that Christianity couldn’t be passed on> ergo no demon seed with Christians?

  • AdLib : And what about Harry Reid coming out to oppose it? What business is it of his? And dissing Obama at the same time? If Sharron Angle wasn’t his opponent, I would be so much more indifferent about his winning re-election.

  • PatsyT : AdLib Yeah, that word -SEED- so like demon seed

  • AdLib : Patsy – “The seed of Judism passes through the mother, the seed of Islam passes through the father.” What about the seeds of hatred and intolerance, they seem to pass through both to him.

  • bitohistory : I don’t think he backed off the first amend. I thought he answered a question. It is a local situation.

  • AdLib : Here’s the link to that AP article: «link»

  • HITO : The mosque issue should not have gone national. It is a matter for planning/zoning of NYC in conjunction with the Office of Historical Buildings. Pat Robertson’s group rushed in with an injunction…rid iculous.

  • AdLib : bito – From the AP: A day later, Obama told reporters that he wasn’t endorsing the specifics of the plan.

  • PatsyT : HITO well I am kidding -but seriously did any one see that John King interview with Billy Grahm’s son? John King ?? what a zombie !

  • AdLib : bito – He did say something to the effect of, “I’m not saying that they should build the mosque there.”

  • AdLib : Bito – What about a big speech on the big picture here? The Repubs using racism, xenophobia, blocking the recovery, etc. all for political advantage and calling them out on how unAmerican all of that is? That would put the Repuns back on the defensive and change the whole conversation to what it should be, the greed and lust for power behind all of this.

  • HITO : Patsy: LOL!

  • PatsyT : You know that head scarf idea would save a lot of time messing with my hair

  • bitohistory : AdLib I did not hear him make any real back-up. The pundits said he said.

  • HITO : Patsy: I like that. Not sure muslims would like that, but it would make a point.

  • AdLib : pATSY –

  • PatsyT : I am ready to go become a muslin just to screw with them

  • HITO : The mosque situation is very disappointing, more so that it’s happening in NYC, home of the dem. The perceived back pedal by O was a big mistake. He should have let Bloomberg handle it.

  • bitohistory : If he makes a speech on it it should be very short. He should emphasize that it a nothing but distraction from the real problems facing us, then move on to jobs and the economy.

  • AdLib : And as a side note on strategy, why are the Dems such suckers? When the RW concocts bullshit issues, instead of ignoring them or calling bullshit on them, they jump in on them as if they’re important and legit issues!

  • AdLib : Personally, I am very disappointed that Obama backed off of saying that America is a place for all people to worship any religion they wish and prejudice is not justification for refusing people rights.

  • HITO : The high road is not working. He needs to speak to it head on and address this insanity. He’s a muslim again…just insane.

  • HITO : Beautifully designed using aluminum…light weight and if I’m not mistaken surgical tubing. Thing of beauty, but deadly.

  • AdLib : Why don’t we begin? What has happened to moral leadership in this nation? This ongoing racism and xenophobia from the Right is being presented by the MSM as reasonable opinions and treated by the Dems and Obama as having some merit. Should Obama have a speech to the nation taking this hatred head on and exposing the political cynicism behind it or continue trying just to deal with and deflect these sensitive issues?

  • bitohistory : Those things were lethal–and quiet!

  • HITO : Had…my mom saw it in action and snipped the hoses and pitched it.

  • HITO : My brother had a wristrocket, Bito.

  • HITO : LOL..you should have seen those bunnies jump straight up in the air. They came back within an hour or two.

  • bitohistory : HITO, look up wrist rocket. I had a friend that hunted with one. That was a slingshot!!

  • AdLib : Oh Mom-m-m-m-m!

  • PatsyT : You’ll put your eye out!!

  • AdLib : HITO – I was about to compare it to a slingshot! And yes, my mother was right for taking it away, slingshots and the old school zip guns really could hurt someone.

  • HITO : I had a slingshot once. Used it to chase the bunnies away from my garden. Used rolled up post it sheets…could never use a rock…you could kill someone!

  • AdLib : HITO – Yes, like many things from childhood, it has morphed into something way more serious.

  • HITO : Adlib: Oh. Nevermind.

  • HITO : OK, I googled (I know shouldn’t use google anymore) But a zip gun is an improvised gun disguised as something else, like a flashlight or cell phone. Think Bourne identity.

  • AdLib : When I was a kid, a zip gun was made out of wood, used a rubber band or spring to “shoot” a small item like a button or marble. As a young boy, I was irresistibly drawn to something like that.

  • HITO : It’s hard. Very hard. She finally called me this afternoon. She’s loving it. Have to let go. Sigh.

  • PatsyT : Not yet, we are leaving next week. How was your drop off? I hope I don’t cry too much!

  • HITO : Patsy, thanks…seven months in the making. He’s staying with me two weeks. Hey did you drop your daughter off? I did Thursday. Sigh

  • PatsyT : That is great news HITO !

  • HITO : Friend? and then some….lol

  • PatsyT : Yes what is a zip gun?

  • AdLib : That is the sign of a true friend, driving someone to or from the airport! Please say hi to Seek for me!

  • HITO : Sorry, what’s a zip gun?

  • bitohistory : Hey all.Zip gun??

  • HITO : HI Adlib! Seek says hi, he is in transit to airport, I’m picking him up at JFK at 7am.

  • AdLib : Hey HITO!!!

  • AdLib : Hey Bito! That must’ve been a drag. I remember my mom finding a zip gun I bought from a friend at school when I was a kid in a drawer of mine, took it away, never got to even try it out!

  • HITO : Hi Patsy!

  • PatsyT : Hey HITO!

  • PatsyT : Hey bito !

  • HITO : Hi kids, sorry I’m late.

  • bitohistory : My mom found my stash when she was packing for me. Damn!

  • AdLib : I’ve got some Sizzler coupons…

  • PatsyT : Yes, start getting a stock pile of cash

  • AdLib : I’ve got 11 years until it’s time for mine, should I start preparing now?

  • PatsyT : Getting kids off to college Is a full time job!

  • AdLib : I know you’ve had your hands full, hope things are settling down.

  • PatsyT : All Good !

  • AdLib : Hey Patsy! How are you this fine evening?

  • PatsyT : Hi There!

  • AdLib : Remember to say “hi” when you arrive!

  • AdLib : Vox Populi, our live chat about the week’s events, begins shortly at 7:00 pm PST. You can participate in the sidebar on any page or on the Vox Populi page by going through this link: «link» Hope to see you then!

Vox Populi – 8-13-2010

Posted by AdLib On August - 20 - 2010ADD COMMENTS
  • AdLib : Sorry Khirad, I wrote a comment last night, there was a hiccup at the beginning of VP that showed a blank screen until the window was refreshed. A quirk from updating the software, it’s fixed now. Sorry!

  • bitohistory : I don’t know Khirad we were here and going strong. Good time was had by all.

  • Khirad : I’m still surprised that it ever got going. I was here at 9 pacific and nobody else was…

  • bitohistory : Gotta love it when VoxPop ends with the line “Silly Rabbit”

  • AdLib : Silly rabbit!

  • PatsyT : O put a rabbit in there

  • PatsyT : Silly kids trick are for kids

  • AdLib : And a hummina-hummina to you too!

  • kesmarn : Back atcha, Patsy and AdLib! shjkfya vfne afbab s fbhah!

  • AdLib : Night Patsy!!! Sleep well!

  • AdLib : Kes, that gibberish was just as advertised. Thanks, it was VerGooman!

  • PatsyT : Hugs to all !

  • kesmarn : Likewise, b’ito. I think I too will call it a day. I promised gibberish and I have delivered in full, I believe. Good night all, and thanks for your good wishes in so many areas of my “interesting” life!

  • AdLib : Guess we should wrap Vox for the night. Thanks Bito, Patsy and Kesmarn and everyone else who’s already headed out for a fun and invigorating evening! Sleep well and have a great weekend!

  • AdLib : Night Bito, great to have you here tonight! Have a wonderful weekend!

  • PatsyT : Love you Bito !!

  • bitohistory : peace

  • AdLib : Mo goo gai zon

  • bitohistory : wellpers! it is that time to be late for me. nighty-nite all. Keep in touch with yourselves.

  • kesmarn : Latter Day BandWidth Sellers

  • PatsyT : Gogonazola

  • AdLib : VerMorGoo

  • kesmarn : Goomonzon.

  • PatsyT : Church of the googly zon

  • AdLib : Gorgonzo

  • kesmarn : VergleMor?

  • PatsyT : Gooizon

  • kesmarn : Along with “no” to a 12 pack.

  • AdLib : VerMoogle.

  • AdLib : “Nuclear” is something Bush can’t say too.

  • kesmarn : The Mormons, Google and Verizon are in a vast conspiracy…

  • AdLib : But the Mormon’s have your relatives social security numbers, they’ll track you down, you special interest, you.

  • bitohistory : did anyone read that there were “only”26 Americans killed abroad by terrorists ? Something Bush could never say.

  • kesmarn : Fortunately Google was not crawling the site when I made those most unprofessional comments…

  • PatsyT : Will Sarah have any more ?

  • kesmarn : I would be deeeeelighted to be Sarah’s nurse. Heh-heh-heh… “Why yes, Mrs. Palin…this is what the doctor ordered…”

  • AdLib : bito – you’re landlocked by a sea of red? Well, you know what color you need to turn red to orange.

  • AdLib : Kes – Could I convince you to tell those same jokes to Sarah Palin?

  • bitohistory : I’m afraid to leave Tucson, the little blue island.

  • kesmarn : It was probably the fact that my jokes were so BAD, they took the only way out… Tragic, really.

  • AdLib : Kes – You have made a patient laugh so hard they died? Ooh, tell me the joke, I’ve got a defibrillator on my desk.

  • kesmarn : b’ito’s right. The drugs do make everything funnier.

  • PatsyT : Kes, What a way to go !

  • AdLib : bito – AZ has some serious Repub infestation, horrible candidates winning in every direction. In ten nor twenty years, when the white people are in the minority, we’ll see how much they like majority rule.

  • kesmarn : I’ve had many a complaint lodged against me for terminal laughination.

  • bitohistory : But they have drugs k’es. that’s why we luv’em

  • PatsyT : Ha those evil nurses making those patients laugh to death

  • kesmarn : Nurses! They’re the worst! Whiny things! And they have a tendency to verbally abuse their patients, I’m told!

  • AdLib : Michael Moore claims in Capitalism, A Love Story that the middle class was born from the Sit Down Strike in MI that begat strong unions. Makes sense to me. So, all these middle class Repubs attacking unions wouldn’t be middle class if not for them. Ingrates.

  • PatsyT : Hayworth is the epitome of botox

  • PatsyT : Teachers and Nurses ! Ha !

  • bitohistory : The thing is , he does the same flip-flop every election cycle. this time it is really bad because of teabagger Hayworth running against him. But he will still get fucking elected.

  • kesmarn : Them and those trouble-making, rabble-rousing teachers!

  • AdLib : Wanting jobs! They’re spoiled!

  • PatsyT : Unions built the middle class

  • AdLib : Damn special interests! Working people!

  • kesmarn : I’ll bet that was what they were referring to, AdLib. Thanks for doing instant research. Go Union!

  • AdLib : I found this article in the LA TIMES: “Several thousand union members rallied Friday on the south lawn at Los Angeles City Hall, calling on state and federal leaders to do more to address the state’s 12.3% unemployment rate. But what was billed as a jobs rally was laced with heavy criticism for the Republicans running for governor and senator, Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina. During an event organized by the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, union leaders showered U.S. Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer with praise while casting Fiorina and Whitman as a “job destruction duo.”"

  • kesmarn : It was a crawl on TV, but I can’t remember which cable channel…

  • PatsyT : Bito I love old hippies ?-? some are my family!

  • AdLib : Kes – No, what did you hear about that?

  • bitohistory : I don’t know were that came from Patsy. Old hippie thing.

  • AdLib : I wonder if he will claim to be a Maverick again and explain that only a true Maverick would deny his Maverickosity during a campaign where being a Maverick would be a bad thing.

  • kesmarn : O/T But did anyone hear anything about a large rally in Los Angeles for jobs?

  • bitohistory : They were in Tucson, she drew a bigger crowd

  • kesmarn : And doing whatever it takes to get there.

  • AdLib : And think how weakened McCain will be as a Senator, he stands for nothing now but getting re-elected.

  • kesmarn : “Those that can, do. Those that can’t, teach.” Only true in McC’s case.

  • AdLib : I do get some satisfaction from McCain needing Palin to stump for him, what a perfect comeuppance, humiliated like that.

  • bitohistory : And then they made him an instructor! ;-)

  • PatsyT : Bito is that a doors song?

  • bitohistory : Nite HITO stay strange but not a stranger.

  • kesmarn : I wonder if he’s destroyed more govt equipment than the amount of salary he’s “earned” through the years…

  • AdLib : Night HITO!!!

  • PatsyT : Bito not everyone can go and wreck fighter planes

  • kesmarn : My pleasure, HITO.

  • bitohistory : He was swaddled in Government nappies, he has had gov ernment HC all his life!! but he is against it for everybody else

  • HITO : Back soon. Damn, I’ve got to stop with the hitting return function. And Kes, thanks for the adding the “V”. I am now an official youtube poster here. Be well kids.

  • kesmarn : I hear you, HITO. Have a good night! Thanks for being here!

  • PatsyT : HITO, all the best and get great rest!

  • HITO : Love you guys. Thanks for a great night.

  • HITO : Kids, I’ve got to hit the hay. HITO’s been up since 5am EST and it’s almost 1am EST.

  • AdLib : bito – yes, that’s what I understand, so a jerk like her doesn’t appeal to every single judge on the court, they say “Okay, we’ll look at it. Denied. Now get lost!”

  • PatsyT : Anchors Away

  • bitohistory : it was already denied by Thomas and your right AdLib the second judge always refers it to the court.

  • kesmarn : Hahahahahaha!

  • HITO : Panama Canal. Daddy was in the DOD.

  • AdLib : McCain was born in Panama. He is an anchor baby.

  • HITO : Well I’d like it unstandardized. I’d like to see her get a volume or two of law precedent throw at her with the full force of reality.

  • kesmarn : Was McCain born in the U.S.?

  • AdLib : She’s very upset about it and has had to pay legal fees no doubt to get to the SCOTUS, probably will cost her 100k all in.

  • AdLib : This is standard process just before the court tosses the appeal.

  • HITO : $20K? That’s all. Damn.

  • AdLib : “A request to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito by “birther” attorney Orly Taitz asking that $20,000 in sanctions against her be reversed was referred on Tuesday to the entire court.” Read more: «link»

  • PatsyT : WFP

  • kesmarn : Maybe — Oh God, We’re Fucked Pumps

  • PatsyT : All of the Above or below

  • AdLib : Or maybe “Fuck U.S. Pumps”.

  • HITO : Oh you clever man…BP FMPs.

  • PatsyT : AdLib I think that is Fuck You Pumps

  • kesmarn : Whee! I hadn’t heard that. Orly, it’s time to pay up and shut up…at long last.

  • AdLib : I hear BP makes “Fuck Me Pumps”.

  • HITO : I’d like to see Oily contribute $100K to our deficit, $200K would be even better.

  • PatsyT : Well she is loaded ?-?loaded with BS

  • bitohistory : yeah it is hard to believe that half the r’s don’t believe he was born in the US and a bunch think he is a Muslim

  • AdLib : Well, Orly Taitz is being slamdunked by the SCOTUS and will have to pay fines for her campaign in the courts over Obama’s citizenship, that’s cool!

  • PatsyT : Well I will be busy then

  • HITO : In my day they were “Fuck Me Pumps” I think…I’m old

  • kesmarn : Patsy! CFM Pumps!

  • AdLib : Patsy – Once you’ve done all that, I’d suggest wrapping yourself up in the Confederate flag and holding a noose in your non-written on hand.

  • HITO : Kes, fuck em all. BTW, I saw a “GLOBE” edition at the supermarket today I refused to pick up. Told stories about how O is not a citizen, and retold his African history before he was planted here to take control. Assholes.

  • PatsyT : Oooo kes Red Stilleto Heels Or as we used to say – Come fuck me pumps

  • kesmarn : Some stilleto heels, Patsy and lots of tea bags on the 10 gallon hat.

  • AdLib : bito – That is what it means to have a man of principle as president. Even though he knows the RW would use this against him and the Dems as coddling terrorists, he does the right thing. And the Purist Dems want a President Romney in 2012? DO they think Romney would have said that?

  • kesmarn : YAY for our Prez! But “they” will say: “Of course, he would say that. He’s a Muslim.” On the other hand: who cares what they say!!

  • HITO : Patsy, I’m a smoker, now stop it. I’m laughing too hard and it hurts!

  • PatsyT : OK so my wardrobe will consist of White Sheet, Ten Gallon Hat, Oh the background smoldering crosses, bad spelling on my hand… hmm what am I missing?

  • AdLib : Even so, my God can beat your God up.

  • bitohistory : did anyone see The Pres. today on the Mosque topic? <blockquote> OBAMA: Let me be clear: as a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country. That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances. This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakeable. </blockquote>

  • HITO : Crazy kids part deux. I’ve been lapsed out of so many religions…but the best part was that I know if there is a god, it’s the god of all, no matter what stupid human attributes everyone tries to ascribe to it. It laughs it’s ass off at the mere thought.

  • AdLib : HITO – The reality is, these types will dispute everything that doesn’t agree with their BS. You provide a link, they attack the site as biased. Provide a fact, they’ll claim it’s not a fact. They aren’t interested in a legit debate, it’s just about shouting as loudly as they can that they’re right.

  • HITO : Adlib, if you’re ever over in the other world and see “barkrudedog” go there. Bastard argued with Seek and I and another epic poster named “soitgoes” for hours about the need for back up links. We were shmucks to have engaged that long, but the environment dictated we do so. Sigh

  • AdLib : Patsy – One more hint: The scent of burned cross is their favorite perfume.

  • kesmarn : That will all be settled out at the big WWF GOD MATCH,

  • AdLib : But I’ve heard that Christian God is stronger than Islamic God.

  • PatsyT : AdLib my desk is right next to the linen closet and I have scissors at the ready !

  • kesmarn : I think their little, tiny mouse shaped god might have. Allah told me he didn’t have a thing to do with it, though, AdLib.

  • AdLib : HITO – That should tell you all you need to know. “Facts? We don’t need no stinkin’ facts!”

  • HITO : Nah, God’s on our side, Adlib. Don’t cha know?

  • AdLib : Kes – Maybe God made it disappear?

  • HITO : THey refuse to post links. They refuse to offer justification for their reasonings. LOL. You can’t make them do it. Kinda the big picture, you know.

  • kesmarn : They did seem to be slow readers HITO. Maybe it took ‘em 4 days to get through 3 sentences.

  • AdLib : HITO – When you’re in a fight with Zombies, hard to win with logic.

  • HITO : Kes, LMAO!….sat in pending for four days. Somethings way wrong with that.

  • kesmarn : I posted at the SIOA (Stop the Islamization of America) site that Islam was a religion of peace and that moderate Muslims were our brothers and sisters. Sat in “pending” for 4 days. Then vanished.

  • HITO : Thrillseeker, my ass. We went in, we got bashed (to see how the other side lives) and thank god, anastasiabeaverh ousen came in with two others to bash back for a bit. Seek’s nuts, he wants to got back…not me. I was scared. They jumped us real good.

  • PatsyT : That is a plan kes I am sharpening my sharpie now

  • AdLib : Clean Coal = Non-Radioactive Nuclear energy.

  • AdLib : Patsy – You might try wearing a white hood at RW sites, I hear that really turns them on.

  • bitohistory : well right AdLib Fossil fuels esp. all that Clean Coal

  • HITO : Adlib, thanks for the 60 minutes link, bookmarked, damn it’s going to be a 3 cupper of darjeeling in the morning. merci.

  • AdLib : HITO – You are a thrillseeker! Tucker’s site is a garbage dump for RWs.

  • kesmarn : Yes, Patsy, they respond to little symbolic things like that. You might try winking a lot and writing messages on the palm of your hand, too.

  • HITO : Kids, I blogged over at Tucker Carlsons site. Yikes! Batshitcrazy they are and nasty.

  • AdLib : What woudl Jesus do…to heat water without using fossil fuels!

  • PatsyT : Next time I am blogging at a bagger site I will wear a hat

  • AdLib : Bito – our water heaters out in Cali are mostly NG heaters so solar would definitely be better but it wouldn’t reduce oil usage.

  • HITO : Kes, and he was a patient carpenter. Still is.

  • kesmarn : AdLib, thank gods we have an administration that won’t actively try to bury this technology to protect big oil/energy.

  • kesmarn : I love poor carpenters! Starting with one who was in the Middle East a couple thousand years ago!

  • AdLib : HITO and anyone else who hasn’t seen it, here is a link to the 60 Minutes piece on the Bloom Box. If it all works out, we could solve our energy and CO2 issues in a year! «link»

  • bitohistory : the savings in money and oil would be tremendous with 1/3 of all homes have solar hot water heaters!! and you could hire a poor carpenter to help build it. :-)

  • HITO : Aw, you crazy kids. I didn’t know BDM hasn’t been on here, or I would have said something sappy to her. I’m good at sappy. She was funny as shit and took no hostages, but you knew that about her already. And I will re-direct her accordingly, should I have the pleasure again. Haven’t seen her over there in 6 months, easy.

  • kesmarn : Patsy, the fact that he’s wearing a cowboy hat might get their attention. Briefly.

  • PatsyT : Do you think any of those tea bagging haywagons might listen to this guy? «link»

  • kesmarn : Better for the planet. Cheaper for the consumer. Win-win.

  • HITO : I bookmarked that Adlib. Thanks. But not before noticing how close two of the graphics of demarcation are to me. Sigh.

  • AdLib : kes – I think the figure is around 80% of energy is lost as it’s transmitted through the grid. Imagine if you had a generator in your backyard, like a water heater and directly powered your own home. We could eliminate that 80% loss by using a grid and our energy needs would evaporate massively.

  • kesmarn : You hit the nail on the head, HITO. First Energy (power company here) is fighting this tooth and nail, too. They’re being sued by a Consumer’s group now for obstructing these types of initiatives.

  • HITO : Kes, a couple of folks I know did just that. Are putting power back in the grid, but it was a hard long fight after spending alot of money. And they pretty much had to threaten my local energy carrier to get their paltry reimbursement. Keep telling myself it will start slow, but when enough people do it, we’ll be empowered.

  • AdLib : HITO – Here’s a link to their site. It’s an amazing documentary and a must see on this topic. It opened my eyes to what NG extraction through fracking means and how it is destroying our nation’s ground water and poisoning people and our land. «link»

  • PatsyT : HITO yes BDM I love her doggies

  • PatsyT : Power to the People !

  • bitohistory : HITO, next time you see BDM, tell her to stop by, she is missed!

  • kesmarn : AdLib, think of the difference having your own little power station would make in people’s lives!

  • HITO : Awwww, you’ll get sick of me. I’m warning ya!

  • PatsyT : HITO Awesome

  • AdLib : We love you too, HITO! SO nice to have you joining us tonight!

  • kesmarn : The feeling’s mutual, HITO.

  • HITO : No I haven’t seen that Adlib. I’ve only come out of my 22 year cave in the last 9 months. Gasland? Do tell, please. Jesus you guys are so smart, have I told you how much I love you today? I do.

  • PatsyT : Kes, That him in the flesh!

  • AdLib : Kes – If they took a fraction of the billions we get from letting the Bush taxcuts expire, this could actually happen.

  • kesmarn : Patsy, Mitch = aged Cabbage Patch Doll

  • bitohistory : patsy,I hope she can win in Nov, we have a very mixed district- blue Tucson-Red the rest.

  • kesmarn : Ah, but the country can’t afford those tax credits, AdLib! Not if we’re gonna keep those Bush tax cuts for the wealthy.

  • AdLib : HITO – Have you seen Gasland? It is pretty scary but well illustrates how destructive and wasteful…and booming the business of fracking is.

  • PatsyT : Mitch M looks like a wax dummy

  • AdLib : Here goes Adlib again…if the Bloom Box passes its tour of duty with the major corps and a residential sized one is manufactured, Obama and a Dem Congress could change the whole energy and pollution dynamic by using tax credits or some co-financing to put them in many homes across the country. Swift and huge reduction of CO2 and energy needs.

  • PatsyT : Bito I love that rep of yours

  • bitohistory : that’s a good one! Clean air act. SIGNED into law by NIXON!! Whre are the r;s now? Teabaggin in the cloak room?

  • kesmarn : Everything is blocked in the Senate… except the flow of yuck from Mitch McConnell…

  • HITO : Please excuse HITO’s bad typing…meant “Thank God” as far as Maurice Hinchey goes…and he may go soon, the Right hates him and the dems in my area are lazy.

  • kesmarn : Maybe we could arrange a little space walk for ‘em in that case…

  • HITO : Oh Adlib. That’s just scary, more scary than the info I’ve read in this in my local newspaper. That god my man Hinchey is on it. He’s not having that Frack crap without EPA/DEC approvals…only problem is, like those agencies have any power anymore. Still Bushlike in those arenas. O’s got to empower those agencies the way Clinton did. Can you say “Clean Air Act”…I have a good memory.

  • AdLib : Patsy – The Repubs would take off their own spacesuit helmet in space if they thought keeping it on would help Obama.

  • bitohistory : Gabby Giffords, my rep, wrote a good solar bill in the house and it passed. blocked in the Senate.

  • kesmarn : More things Obama never got credit for, AdLib…. sigh…

  • AdLib : kes – The Cash for Clunkers program was hugely successful. And the weather proofing houses bit created jobs and saves energy.

  • PatsyT : Bito, Isn’t AZ like the Saudi Arabia of Solar ? Why don’t they want to rule the world?

  • AdLib : HITO – Exactly. Obama was too intent on being a good guy when he got into office and trying to be bipartisan. Having Rahm by his side tamping down his more ambitious ideas didn’t help either.

  • kesmarn : And it’s money spent that would SAVE us money in the long run, AdLib. Like replacing clunkers with more efficient cars, weather-proofing houses and getting more energy-efficient appliances into homes.

  • PatsyT : The repubs would block legislation to cure cancer … some show said that today

  • bitohistory : NY has more solar power than AZ with its 362 days of sunshine!!! God AZ!

  • AdLib : HITO – Check out this article I wrote on NG and fracking: «link»

  • HITO : Adlib, just like Kennedy got us going with PeaceCorps. Obama should have orchestrated a “save the planet” movement. True that…I’m very disappointed with him that regard.

  • HITO : Kes, let it go. It feels good. Trust me.

  • AdLib : Before Obama was elected, I imagined how he could launch a “going-to-the-m oon” type aggressive program to get us deep into developing a renewable energy industry. That would bring back manufacturing, high paid jobs and the world as customers. He has done some of that through the stimulus but the bullshit from Repubs on how we can’t spend into deficits (only Bush and Reagan were allowed to do so) has blocked the robust spending there should have been.

  • PatsyT : Bito I know they are going hog wild on the coal fired plants but Yes tI think they will see the economic advantage of this before our sorry asses

  • kesmarn : HITO, AdLib had an article on fracking a while back. I was unaware until I read that how damaging this fucking freaking fracking is to the environment.

  • HITO : Bito: NO way! WTF? China is beating us in solar panels? Oh, now I have to go get more wine. Shit.

  • bitohistory : patsy,60% of solar panels are now made in China, #1 in wind energy. Yes they have a lot of pollution , but it seems they are making an effort

  • HITO : Kids big news in my area of NY is the movement against “fracking” by energy companies to get natural gas. They drill, insert heinous chemicals that EPA has NOT approved and get their little bit of gas at a price no one wants to pay.

  • kesmarn : I am being fucking restrained tonight, for a change.

  • PatsyT : HITO just don’t go NAACP on us

  • AdLib : HITO – Fuck yeah!

  • kesmarn : b’ito, I made the mistake of clicking on a further link on that page — to a story on a teacher who beat an 11 year old student to death and threw her out a 4th floor window. Argh.

  • PatsyT : Big Phama strikes again !

  • HITO : Oh, if they beat us to it, that’s just fucked up. That was O’s stance on fixing alot…unemploym ent, environment. If China beats us to it, then we are certainly fucked. (Adlib is it ok that I’m F-bombing so much?)

  • AdLib : We will save energy by reverting from electricity powered computers to manual computers. The abacus industry is braced for a resurgence.

  • kesmarn : But according to “them,” not only is there no global climate change, BP also did virtually no damage to the environment. All that oil has just disappeared. Denial is the world’s best drug.

  • bitohistory : k’s that was like looking a snuff film. Hard to watch!and just think he was making 50 cents an hour, no saftey anything . GAH

  • PatsyT : HITO they will embrace green energy

  • HITO : GOP endorses going to back to fat rendered candles.

  • HITO : Patsy, in what regard? (will they come to their senses)

  • AdLib : The Chinese, not for environmental but economic reasons, are building a renewable energy industry in a huge way. Meanwhile, thanks to the GOP, we’ve passed tax breaks to explore a return to horseless carriages.

  • PatsyT : Bito, I have a feeling that the Chinese will come to their senses before we will

  • kesmarn : These landslides are a tragedy and the flooding…good Lord. b’ito, those photos of the oil spill clean up workers were heart-breaking.

  • AdLib : bito – Yes, I added a section about that in a comment in my Flood of Fires post. Terrible and looks like it is only going to continue in the coming years.

  • HITO : I did. Terrible stuff going on over there. Asia is in deep shit.

  • AdLib : Well, everyone needs a role model. For Palin, it was Damien.

  • bitohistory : Did anyone see my post yesterday that there was another landslide in China?

  • HITO : Patsy: Yes you are.

  • PatsyT : HITO Perfect !

  • HITO : Damn, that scared me Adlib. I was expecting a plain face, but got satan. Wait…..you’re right!

  • PatsyT : Thanks God for Botox !

  • kesmarn : Post exorcism is even worse.

  • AdLib : That was pre-exorcism.

  • HITO : Kes, EXACTLY! Two fan whores going at it. Brixton, or whatever the hell her name is, just picked her mom as her suitor.

  • kesmarn : Nightmares tonight!!! AAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

  • PatsyT : LOLOL ADLIb !!!

  • kesmarn : That’s it, HITO. They hate each other because they are exactly alike. Superficial attention-whores .

  • HITO : When we people get it…we need accountable, committed people to do the right thing when it comes to governance.

  • AdLib : If you haven’t seen Sarah Palin without makeup: «link»

  • HITO : If Levi wins, then he will slam her face with reality that she was a sham, because so is he. How sad is that?

  • kesmarn : OMG, b’ito! That is brilliant!

  • HITO : Drink crazy Sarah shit? Hell no, but I’ve had a bit too much Pinot tonight. I could drink a case and still hate the SP thing though.

  • PatsyT : Levi for Mayor!

  • kesmarn : I do believe she may have met her match in Levi.

  • bitohistory : «link»

  • bitohistory : John McCain’s 44 Flip-Flops

  • PatsyT : YES AdLib !

  • kesmarn : YES!! AdLib, you renew my faith in dudes!

  • AdLib : Palin is not sexy. She is nasty, most guys I know feel the same way.

  • HITO : But meanwhile, back in crazy reality town, Fiorina and Whitman continue their races with major capital input. $99Million isn’t enough!

  • kesmarn : It’s such a relief to hear you guys have not drunk the Sexy Sarah kool aid!!

  • bitohistory : No thank you not without her paying me big bucks

  • kesmarn : We were logging the number of McCain flip-flops this evening. Impressive. At one point 10 in 2 weeks.

  • HITO : Kes, all political walks want to fuck her. And don’t think she doesn’t know that and capitalize on it. I loved when her photos of her without the makeup hit…not that I’ve seen them, but heard many gasps.

  • AdLib : HITO – That’s really not true, most messed up Republican men may want to fuck her but I know many non-GOP men and I don’t know of one who would want to be in the same room with her…without a custard pie in hand to throw at her.

  • kesmarn : I think you are definitely on to something there, HITO!

  • bitohistory : That’s right HITO, but he changed his mind?-?-again!

  • HITO : Kes, she is so inept, it defies words. But how she got where she is, well I’ll assume it’s because most men just want to fuck her. There. I’ve said it. Sorry Adlib.

  • PatsyT : HITO OBL is hanging out in one of mccains empty vacation homes

  • AdLib : All McCain can cough up now are the last vestiges of his soul…and a watercress sandwich.

  • kesmarn : I guess I think of her religious fundamentalist extremism, HITO, and her lack of understanding of how democracy and free speech work and she looks pretty Taliban-ish to me.

  • HITO : I keep waiting for McCain to cough up where Osama Bin Laden is. (wow I actually typed that, and not the usual OBL) Mac knew where he was…waiting for it.

  • PatsyT : HITO it was on HP but I love Shannyn Moore «link»

  • AdLib : Hey…what if that exorcism didn’t work on Palin? Maybe we should promote the meme that she is still possessed by demons!

  • bitohistory : I herd some one say if she had been smacking bubble gum she could have played a valley girl. To steal KO’s line “she is an Idiot”

  • AdLib : bito – Log Cabin Republicans…ju st an S&M club, getting beaten and abused by their “colleagues” in the GOP on a daily basis and they keep coming back for more.

  • HITO : I don’t know, calling her a Taliban is a bit much. Don’t get me wrong, if I had a chance, I’d bitch slap her moronic crap.

  • kesmarn : Daddy must be so proud…. or not…

  • bitohistory : Her father was a teacher and her brother is one now.

  • kesmarn : That is the perfect name for her, b’ito. American Taliban if ever I saw one!

  • HITO : NOT A TEACHER!!!!!! Yikes.

  • AdLib : Teechurs? Wee hayte skool!

  • PatsyT : Love it Bito !

  • HITO : LOL, I missed that whole bunch of nonsense from Palin. But I’m delighting with your info.

  • bitohistory : Osarah Bin Palin?

  • kesmarn : Not too much respect for the teaching profession in general from the Palin clan.

  • PatsyT : Oh that pause

  • HITO : Adlib: Back at you. :-)

  • AdLib : Kes – “The response from Palin and her daughter to their question of what the woman did, she said, “I’m a teacher” and there was an uncomfortable pause from the Palin Klan, then, as if she had said she eats babies, they chimed in sync, “Oh.”

  • dildenusa : I know Adlib. legal immigrants want to close the door on anyone who might take away what they have

  • bitohistory : AdLib I do not understand that at all . Same with log cabin R’s.

  • HITO : My daughter’s guidance counselor pushed the shit out of her and gave her reality based motives. Then got her an award from my county’s executive for her community service. Sigh. Sometimes all that arguing seems worthwhile.

  • PatsyT : Kes, Yes That was very special Kinda of told the whole story

  • kesmarn : Patsy, did you see the Sarah Palin vid of the confrontation with the teacher in Alaska?

  • AdLib : Hito – ;-)

  • bitohistory :

  • PatsyT : My Grad’s AP Teacher had a very special interest – GETTING MY CHILD INTO THE COLLAGE OF HER CHOICE !

  • HITO : Esquise you or Esquire you? Would if I could.

  • kesmarn : Biff and Buffy may want to broaden the gene pool, b’ito.

  • AdLib : Esquise me?

  • dildenusa : just some psychobabble. but children of the wealthy have very high expectations when it comes to working and middle class people

  • bitohistory : Too much interbreeding, k’es?

  • HITO : Adlib, strangely enough both his sons were esquires….hmmm m?

  • AdLib : bito – That is messed up. But look at the black and Latino Republicans, they may have benefited from Dem policies yet they have dedicated themselves to taking away such benefits for people just like them.

  • kesmarn : Could the ultra-wealth suffer from a form of autism? They seem to be unable to relate to human emotion. Only objects. Well — one object. MONEY.

  • dildenusa : I hear you Adlib. it’s called status anxiety.

  • PatsyT : My daughters kindergarten teacher has a very special interest – MY CHILD !

  • AdLib : HITO – I’ve seen the sons of self-made people ignore contractual obligations out of mere resentment, just because they want everything and don’t think anyone should have what they want.

  • kesmarn : I’ve seen that, too, b’ito. The VERY people who benefited from the union in their youth will turn on it. Good luck to ‘em!

  • HITO : Bito: Talk about heresy.

  • bitohistory : Greedy children. I have seen it it people whose folks were Union, Union HC, Union wages sent them to college, and now they are anti union. Talk about ungrateful.

  • HITO : Adlib, I saw that in his sons, circa 1988. They had been protocol son types, and they intended to maintain that status quo. There was no work ethic in them, something their dad had worked his ass off for. BTW, my boss was a major Dem contributor, at least that made me happy.

  • PatsyT : Dilden there is so much to be positive about! Did anyone catch the Rachel M show about the rundown of the Obama accomplishments ?

  • kesmarn : Yes, d, if we could only learn to be a bit more humble and grateful. There’s too much of this “Please, sir, I want some more” when it comes to gruel…

  • AdLib : What about the Repubs calling the state assistance bill that just passed, “a payoff to special interests”…wh en it pays for teachers, firemen, police…working people! Yet, their tax cut for the wealthiest 1%, that’s helping the “real” Americans?

  • dildenusa : well Kes they do but only if we do their bidding. you know. get back to work you lazy ……..

  • PatsyT : If I hear one more reporter on the cabals say – There is a lot of anger out there – I am going to have to go and do something rash like buy kool aid

  • kesmarn : dilden, wouldn’t it be nice if they actually DID give a rat’s patoot about the working/middle class?

  • AdLib : HITO – The sense of entitlement that the children of the wealthy have can make them more unprincipled and crooked than their parents. They are bred to be sociopathic because, as corporations are now “people”, the people who run them have the values of corporations.

  • bitohistory : Hey d, you post some good thoughts and links on debt-financial thingys thanks….

  • dildenusa : I’m trying to keep positive about things.

  • PatsyT : HITO :-)

  • kesmarn : Sorry again. Country, not county. Typo Queen tonight.

  • kesmarn : There seems to be a real load of anger building in the county at large. I wonder where this will lead… And Hi to dildenusa!!

  • HITO : true that, dildenusa

  • AdLib : Hey dildenusa!

  • PatsyT : Hi Dildenusa

  • dildenusa : Hello everyone! the repubs, in their heart of hearts really believe they are helping the working and middle class by giving away billions to 1% of the population.

  • AdLib : Greed has no limits, it feeds on itself. How much more could you eat or do with $100 million more when you have $100 million?

  • PatsyT : The repubs need to twist in the wind about the hypocrisy of wanting to reduce the deficit but at the same time keeping the bush tax cuts!

  • HITO : I’ve worked for a couple of millionaires. They don’t get it. Well, one did, son of a tailor in PA. Owned 1/4 of Time Warner when it was just Warner. Frugal, but his crazy ass wife, daughter of a CBS Paley, loved to loot the bank accounts. Wealthy people…90% of them, just want to keep what they have and could give a shit about the “right thing to do”.

  • kesmarn : AdLib, thanks for the WAPO numbers.

  • kesmarn : The concept of “ENOUGH” is lost upon them.

  • bitohistory : That is a gift of 125,000 apiece for those making a million dollars.

  • AdLib : From the WAPO: “A Republican plan to extend tax cuts for the rich would add more than $36 billion to the federal deficit next year — and transfer the bulk of that cash into the pockets of the nation’s millionaires, according to a congressional analysis released Wednesday. “

  • HITO : Patsy: I LOVE YOU! Girl, you crack me up real good!

  • kesmarn : And they claim to be all about fiscal responsibility. What a joke.

  • PatsyT : HITO they do not have enough empty vacation homes

  • HITO : Jesus Christ! $38BILLION for those wealthy bastards tax cuts? Incredible.

  • kesmarn : HITO very smart. And looking out for kids. Good.

  • PatsyT : HITO you are smart !

  • AdLib : Just as the wealthy and corporations didn’t care what would happen to the world as they stole trillions of money through derivatives, they don’t care that grabbing as much as they can now from the majority and sending the middle class sinking down into the lower class, the economic engine that drives our economy, consumer spending, is destroyed. Then what?

  • kesmarn : HITO, I saw a figure that it would add $38 Billion to the deficit. So your numbers are not too high…I don’t think.

  • HITO : Kes, I wrote in my oldest college funding into the separation agreement whose language will survive when we divorce in one year. HITO smart!

  • kesmarn : Wow, HITO, you have one in college. That in itself is expensive. And keeping a household of 2 going is not cheap…even living frugally. I wish you well.

  • HITO : Adlib, I saw numbers this week that predicted if the Bush wealthy tax cuts stood, we were looking at $8Bil over 10 years. I know it sounds too high, but I assume it took other “trickle” down factors.

  • PatsyT : The book -Two Years Before the Mast- tells the story of R H Dana and they have the ship there at the Ocean Institute – beautiful place

  • kesmarn : It’s so much displaced/mispla ced anger. The poor are not to blame for the way things are, but they’re getting the brunt of it.

  • AdLib : HITO – Appreciate that. WHich is why I can’t understand, the Repubs block unemployment pay and money to help ill 9/11 workers, block HCR, Financial reform yet want the top 1% of the country to get billions. How can people want them to be in a position to do this?

  • HITO : Kes, my oldest is dorming at state university starting next week. It’s just me and my son, for the next five years.

  • bitohistory : Did you catch Newtie calling unemployment insurance “welfare? and it wasn’t a slip he did it more than once. ARSE!

  • HITO : Kes, I’m getting $2K/mo. childsupport/ali mony which fades over the next five years. I’ve been a part time admin for 6 years, but will need to supplement by either getting another part time gig (probable) or full time gig (impossible).

  • kesmarn : Patsy, that’s very cool! Dana Point…

  • kesmarn : HITO, that’s ah huge adjustment in income for your family!

  • AdLib : It is a bit scary that so many Americans are so willing to “get even” with the party in power that they will blindly accept any alternative including racists, corporate tools and the very people who were in power just one and a half years ago who destroyed the world’s economy and this nation’s stability. How stupid are these people?

  • HITO : And that “working class” is disappearing everyday.

  • PatsyT : Kes, I live near Dana Point CA and they have the «link» I have been on a few field trips for the 4th graders and that is the part that gets them all!

  • bitohistory : There are a few graph/chart nerds here. I don’t know how many i have seen on where the weallth is but is sure isn’t in the working class.

  • kesmarn : An insult to elephants everywhere…

  • HITO : Adlib, I’d be happy making $25k/year for now. My X made +$100K. But right now, it’s about getting by, not living the high life. And anyone that wants that high life, pay your taxes and shut up.

  • AdLib : kes – And that’s giving the worst part of the deal to the elephant.

  • kesmarn : AdLib…which brings us right back to Newt’s face!

  • HITO : Need to raise the SS cap to $250K or more for 4-6 years.

  • kesmarn :  Patsy! I didn’t know that about steerage hygiene!

  • AdLib : Kes – I thought of an elephant’s but.

  • AdLib : bito – I checked the actual figures and they’re more dismal than you think. The top 1% of the nation earns $100k or more…so 99% of the nation’s households earn less. It’s really the top half of a percent who are wealthy in this nation. The American dream is bullshit, everyone’s odds are 99.5% against ever becoming a millionaire.

  • kesmarn : Yes, b’ito, or telling someone: “Do not think of an elephant.” Of course, you’re going to think of nothing but!

  • PatsyT : Steerage ! They all used the same ‘rope’ to wipe themselves ahh the good old days «link»

  • kesmarn : Patsy, yes, who can buy anything when there’s no longer a middle class. Then they have the gall to want to extend the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy.

  • bitohistory : k’es, like the judge telling the jury to ignore certain info.

  • kesmarn : Yes, b’ito. Middle class is a dying entity…

  • HITO : The middle class are extinct. The repubs wanted it that way. Don’t have a clue how to get their numbers back. Not in our current situation. But, the middle class built this nations prosperity in the 50s.

  • PatsyT : Kes works every time

  • kesmarn : I think Laura’s “apology” was cynical, too, AdLib. Just CYA to keep her job after she’d gotten her real “message” out there.

  • PatsyT : Hito sounds cool

  • bitohistory : middle class? 10% owns 90% of the wealth and 90% owns 10%. Worst it has been since pre depression

  • PatsyT : Kes, YES with out a middle class Look at what we have ….oh booo hooo no consumers Hey where did they all go?

  • HITO : Patsy, I’m sorry I just realized, that it was BigDogMom that shared that thread the other day with me. Sovereigns who are closer to anarchists.

  • AdLib : The thing is, I don’t see anything genuine about anything the Repubs say, it’s all done to win elections. Are the Repubs in Congress all really as racist as they portray themselves? Or are they just cynically pandering to the racist Baggers for votes? They have no principles, I think it’s just saying what works. DO Palin and Boehner and Bachman all really believe what they say or are they just baiting their rabid followers and treating them like fools?

  • kesmarn : I would contribute $ for his boat trip over there…steerage .

  • PatsyT : I would love to see – Beck in Somalia with nothing but a dime

  • kesmarn : Exactly, b’ito! And it might help if they finally woke up and realized that having a middle class is a GOOD thing.

  • HITO : Wingers hate FDR. They’ll never see that reality.

  • HITO : Oh Patsy, We were supposed to send the sovereigns to Somalia!

  • PatsyT : Great point Bito !

  • bitohistory : ask any winger where capitalism would have been if not for FDR. He saved it.

  • PatsyT : They need a trip to Somalia

  • HITO : Adlib, Beck referenced “Planet of the Apes”. Jesus Christ, you should have seen the trolls in denial. “What, he was just making a comparison to a governing change.” Bullshit.

  • kesmarn : The big hero of the right, now, is Calvin Coolidge and FDR is Satan in a wheelchair. They are deranged!

  • HITO : OMG, Kes. WE ARE distorting history? WTF? He’s an assclown. (And yes, I have the beautiful graphic Adlib made awhile back right up above my desk.)

  • AdLib : HITO – Laura said the “n” word. Beck said Obama hates white people”. And “libs” are delusional about racism?

  • HITO : Bito: Denial is great. And fucking scary. No way to show a mirror to them.

  • kesmarn : That Rove technique is appalling, AdLib. Caught a few minutes of Beck today and he is saying that the LEFT is erasing/distorti ng history to suit their agenda! That would be funny if it weren’t so infuriating.

  • AdLib : That’s what the whole attack on the NAACP is about. Right after they called on the Baggers to reject the racists among them, they spun around in Rove mode and attacked the NAACP as being racist against poor oppressed white people.

  • bitohistory : HITO, that is because they are racists, so they don’t recognize it when they see it.

  • HITO : Patsy…so true: “It’s just there under the surface”

  • AdLib : Kes – Yes, this is the Karl Rove approach to being racist. Accuse your opponent of what you are or what you are doing. So, say racist things and when anyone calls you a racist, you brand them as the real racist. This was what Breitbart was trying to do too.

  • PatsyT : HITO they talk in codes

  • HITO : All the trolls over on HP say libs are delusional with their rants about racist. Are we? I don’t think so. I think we see this subliminal shit and it makes the hair stand up on the back of our necks, appropriately so.

  • AdLib : HITO – There is nothing for any fair minded person to love about this woman. She is hateful, racist and spews the venom every day that now passes for political opinion of Repubs. It is interesting that as bad as people feel about the Dems, they STILL disapprove of the Repubs more than the Dems. That’s quite a feat for the Repubs to accomplish.

  • HITO : Adlib: Separate but equal drinking fountains…LMFA O! Feel like I’m back in SC circa 1964.

  • PatsyT : AdLib it is always just there under the surface

  • kesmarn : It’s aggravating, too, that when a person of color objects to blatant racism, THAT’s called “playing the race card”! As if Beck didn’t when he called Obama racist!

  • bitohistory : I’m afraid to answer your question AdLib, because I’m afraid that the answer is yes.

  • kesmarn : Yes, AdLib, in the name of “free enterprise.” I’ve actually heard the argument: Business owners should be able to serve whomever they like..”

  • HITO : Seek has a new sock, and I’m trying to find it for fun. So I was looking at newbies over at HP all day. One nubie who seemed ok, espoused it’s love of this woman. And how we don’t know how wonderful she is. It’s from CA, read through it’s comments, seemed OK, but this situation just made me say, “you’re an idiot”.

  • AdLib : Kes – She was blatantly racist. What does this mean, for racism to now be socially acceptable and a valued GOP campaign theme?

  • PatsyT : She told the truth – That is how she really feels

  • bitohistory : Here are her taped words with a transcript. «link»

  • kesmarn : Also, she plays “dumb,” as in “I’m confused here,” but she is not a stupid woman.

  • AdLib : Patsy – I was just going to comment on that too…”you people”. I’m waiting for Sharron Angle and Rand Paul to announce their support of separate but equal drinking fountains.

  • PatsyT : Can a boycott of her advertisers help?

  • kesmarn : Those may not be the precise words, HITO, but that was the gist of it.

  • HITO : It’s OK to be racist because it’s just bashing the POTUS, which is acceptable. Just an extension.

  • PatsyT : YOU PEOPLE ???

  • HITO : “You people have your president”. Well that just makes me very angry.

  • AdLib : kes – Laura also said “If you can’t handle it, don’t marry out of your race” and “Don’t NAACP me!” She is a blatant racist and pays no price for it?

  • kesmarn : Exactly, Patsy! She is a mean-spirited woman.

  • PatsyT : Hey, she showed her true colors by saying don’t NAACP me!

  • bitohistory : I heard it was all Obama’s fault for all the talk. he brings it up all the time.?-?well he was a winger.

  • AdLib : Don Imus, Howard Cosell, on and on, there are many who lost their jobs for racism or perceived racism (the rap against Cosell was unfair). Nowadays, you can say the “N” word on radio and all you have to do is give a dishonest apology.

  • kesmarn : The worst thing Laura said, IMO, was, in effect: “You people have your President. There can’t be any more prejudice now. Get over it.” Vicious and false.

  • PatsyT : Sorry OT this is quick . . . Oh thanks bito and this is a link to the new meet the mormon ad campaign «link»

  • HITO : We have a black president. (and half black apparently counts as black). This is why all this bullshit comes up. They hid it well, but now can’t help themselves to rant.

  • kesmarn : A quick thank you to b’ito. I missed that link!

  • AdLib : LET’S BEGIN WITH OUR FIRST TOPIC: DR. LAURA USED HER RADIO SHOW TO TOSS THE “N” WORD AROUND LIKE CONFETTI. SHE HAS APOLOGIZED AND WILL CONTINUE WITH HER TALK SHOW. RUSH AND BECK HAVE EXHIBITED SIMILAR RACISM AND ONLY GROW MORE POPULAR. THERE WAS A TIME WHEN PEOPLE WOULD RESIGN OVER SUCH THINGS, NOT GET BETTER RATINGS. HAS RACISM NOW BECOME PUBLICLY ACCEPTABLE AGAIN AND EVEN ENCOURAGED FOR RATINGS AND REVENUE ASPECTS? IF SO, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN ABOUT THE COURSE OF THIS NATION AND RACIAL RELATIONS MOVING FORWARD?

  • bitohistory : While patsy and k’es are here I left you a link in last weeks music thread on Dione and Burt.

  • HITO : See, now I always thought Newt would make a good door stop. Keeping the door closed to any concepts that may eradicate ignorance.

  • kesmarn : I think Newt would make a great Mormon. He seems prone to polygamy.

  • PatsyT : It is a secret spa

  • kesmarn : I confess to making a mean paprikas, but few of my friends/family find me rational.

  • kesmarn : I vote YES, b’ito! Hey, we’re back on baptism again!

  • HITO : Kes, bet you are an excellent cook. And an excellent rationalist.

  • bitohistory : Can we do it to Newt and not pull him up from the holy water?

  • kesmarn : Oh, yeah, HITO. All German on one side and all Hungarian on the other. Half rational and efficient. Half schizophrenic but prone to dancing the czardas.

  • HITO : KES: LMFAO!

  • kesmarn : I wonder how many people one person can be a proxy for? I mean you could get dunked dozens of times a day…think of what that would do to your skin…

  • HITO : Oh, Kes. Thank you. My dad was a son of two Hungarian parents, both who passed through Ellis Island circa 1901. YIKES!

  • HITO : I’ve read former articles about how the Mormon church is tracking all family lineages…perha ps to make sure their’s is pure?

  • kesmarn : It doesn’t get better than ballsy Hungarian, HITO. I have one of those, too.

  • AdLib : “They say that those who are dead retain their identity and free will and therefore can either accept or reject the rites performed for them. A hands-on proxy baptism ceremony, called an ordinance, takes place in a Mormon temple, and includes full immersion to wash away sins and commence church membership. It is supposedly performed, commentators say, for people who had believed in Christ, but had not had a chance to be baptized.”

  • bitohistory : I have heard of stealing deceased childrens numbers. Just read that recently. Tha tway they start out with a clean credit score

  • HITO : If the Mormons tried to baptize my grandmother, well I wish them luck. She was one ballsy gypsy hungarian and would kick their sorry asses. I get my “spunk” from her.

  • kesmarn : Heh. We have the same info, AdLib. Must be true!

  • PatsyT : I live less then a half a mile from a Mormon Church

  • AdLib : Just found this from «link» The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (often referred to as the LDS or Mormons) has spent millions of dollars microfilming, indexing and cataloging nearly every document known to man from every country on earth — including millions of Jewish records. Church members are encouraged to find the names of ancestors to baptize by proxy, which they believe gives the dead the opportunity to embrace the faith in the afterli

  • kesmarn : Saved. Sorry. Tired.

  • kesmarn : Yes, AdLib. That’s why they were at the university. They do a “baptism by proxy” thing, if I’m not mistaken to make sure all their ancestors are “save”?

  • HITO : No, only passed on people. My aunt, my uncle, my grandparents, but my aunt only passed in 2003. I have to yell at someone in the near future. Didn’t mean to monopolize the thread with this. Sorry.

  • PatsyT : Well I can’t wait to die then

  • AdLib : You do know that the Mormon Church baptizes dead people?.

  • kesmarn : Is it possible to take out a credit card in a deceased person’s name?

  • bitohistory : HITO I knew that you could get deceased SS numbers, if it has bee over 20 years, but living?

  • HITO : It was quite an awakening about what you can get on the internet. Just by googling a loved one’s name. In this case, it brought up my grandfather’s name and SS no., since my dad’s name is the same.

  • AdLib : HITO – Indeed, that is outrageous. I can’t believe they haven’t been sued for it yet.

  • PatsyT : LDS and SS numbers?? What are they up to?

  • kesmarn : Too many years ago, I worked in a university record dept. and they had old county birth records. The Mormons were microfilming them right and left.

  • HITO : But Adlib, divulging former SS nos. is only good for criminal intent..”Please do use these numbers”, no?

  • TakeInAPlay : HITO, that is truly scary.

  • AdLib : HITO – The Mormon Church owns Ancestry.com, you’ve probably seen the ads for it. They are intent on culling identities.

  • PatsyT : Bito, you are looking good

  • kesmarn : I sense that there is a b’ito in the room….please join hands around the table…..

  • HITO : Serious as a heart attack, got my grandparents SS nos., my aunt’s and uncles and a whole bunch of my family tree branches. Again, WTF?

  • TakeInAPlay : Love it Ad! You’re so green. Of course that could be from drinking old shampoo.

  • AdLib : BITO! Hola, amigo!

  • kesmarn : HITO, seriously?

  • AdLib : Very cool, TIAP! I am drinking beer from a bottle made of recycled bath mats. Urp! There is an odd scent of strawberry conditioner to it but otherwise…

  • bitohistory : I don’t show up being on line. is this some sort of sign? I feel pretty good. Do I still exist? :-) test: Hello all.

  • TakeInAPlay : I don’t know how they did it but it really is soft and stain resistant. A plus when you have a cat.

  • kesmarn : Cool. Fiber Glass?

  • TakeInAPlay : I’m so LA!!!!

  • TakeInAPlay : It’s really soft and it doesn’t leak.

  • HITO : Well, here’s a little ditty I learned today googling my dad’s name (my sister is not talking to me and I’m waiting for him to pass, so I’ve taken to googling his name every day to see if he shows up in the obits) Well it seems the Church of Latter Day Saints has listings of all deceased people and THEIR SOCIAL SECURITY NOS. What the fuck?

  • TakeInAPlay : I stopped at Costco and bought a throw rug made from recycled bottles.

  • kesmarn : Just watched a local PBS interview with the guy who’s running against wonderful Marcy here. He’s even dumber than he looks. HI TIAP!!

  • AdLib : Hey TIAP!!!

  • TakeInAPlay : Hey all! Sorry I’m late. Had to run some errands on the way home.

  • PatsyT : chat chat chatty chat chatty chat

  • AdLib : Still waiting for a few folks, so feel free to chat.

  • HITO : Patsy….LOL!!!! !!!!!

  • kesmarn :

  • PatsyT : Because there is no end to those pricks

  • kesmarn : Patsy…tell…

  • AdLib : Thanks Kes!!!

  • AdLib : When I played in the sandbox, the cat kept covering me up.

  • kesmarn : But, AdLib, you actually DO get respect…

  • PatsyT : -Why is it that you can’t circumcise tea baggers?

  • AdLib : Here’s some Rodney Dangerfield: I looked up my family tree and found out I was the sap.

  • kesmarn : Go for it, AdLib…

  • AdLib : Henny Youngman, anyone?

  • HITO : Adlib, bring that schtick on…I could use it tonight!

  • kesmarn : Does Questinia live in NY state, too? I miss her. Q. where are you?

  • AdLib : Schtick!

  • AdLib : Ah, Catskills! Time for my ol’

  • HITO : Mid Hudson Valley, Catskills, yup. City girl goes country slash mountain girl…lol. Won’t leave the house without full makeup and blown out hair.

  • kesmarn : You really ARE in the Catskills, huh, HITO?

  • HITO : Kes: Ah. I got nervous. Thought maybe I’ve passed you at the gas station in town.

  • PatsyT : Hito, sometimes Kes is beyond funny (I secretly think she may be a comedy pro)

  • kesmarn : Not really HITO. Patsy suspects I moonlight there, doing stand-up.

  • HITO : Serious shit, Kes. Do you live in the Catskills?

  • kesmarn : Patsy, you are always so gracious about my dumb jokes…love ya.

  • HITO : Had to poof my gmail…Look to the Left long story. THis is my old one for Mrs. Gustav over there, also poofed.

  • kesmarn : Hi HITO! Sleeping noobs over there?

  • PatsyT : Hey Hito, love that Avi!

  • HITO : Kes lives in the Catskills?

  • PatsyT : I am going to call you Kes of the Catskills !

  • HITO : Hi kids, sorry I’m late. Had to wake a nubie up over on the other side.

  • kesmarn : Have the ceiling fan and a standing floor fan on simultaneously. More fans than I have at HuffPo.

  • PatsyT : Just finished feeding the dogs and I am waiting for my burrito from Pedros

  • AdLib : Hey all!!! How is everyone?

  • kesmarn : Sooo hot, Patsy! Day after day…and humid!

  • kesmarn : Hi, Khirad!

  • PatsyT : Hey Kes, Still hot in Ohio?

  • kesmarn : OOps…meant IS that you…not IT… short sleep!

  • kesmarn : And it that you I see there, Patsy! YES!

  • PatsyT : Hi Guys

  • kesmarn : Hey, AdLib, how are you?

Vox Populi – 8-6-2010

Posted by AdLib On August - 13 - 2010ADD COMMENTS
  • Blues Tiger : you too AdLib..

  • AdLib : Well, looks like it’s about time to end tonight’s edition of Vox Populi. Thanks BT for joining in tonight, have a great weekend!

  • AdLib : Sleep well Patsy! So nice seeing you!

  • Blues Tiger : Nite PT

  • PatsyT : Well I am fading …. I will have to say Farewell….. Have a wonderful Evening !

  • Blues Tiger : The allegations are this church actually participated in raising funds for her

  • AdLib : BT – There’s the rub, only someone with an axe to grind would report their church for endorsing candidates in a service.

  • AdLib : tax

  • AdLib : Patsy – I know, they hand out voter guides at many churches too. But technically, it is against the law for a church to engage in political activity if they want to keep their taz exempt status.

  • Blues Tiger : who wants to be known in a small town or anywhere as the guy who took out a church over politics

  • Blues Tiger : but think about it

  • Blues Tiger : they do it alot PT

  • PatsyT : Bye Bye tax exempt status !

  • Blues Tiger : A church here is in some trouble for endorsing Sally Kern

  • PatsyT : AdLib they kinda already do It is really scary in those Mega Churches

  • Blues Tiger : Thats what I don’t get in AZ,Hayward is connected to the Abramoff scandal… What chance does he have to be an effictive rep if he wins?

  • AdLib : As for TP’s Sharron Angle: “Republican Sharron Angle believes the clergy should be allowed to endorse candidates from the pulpit and opposes laws allowing gays to adopt children, according to a questionnaire by the Nevada Senate hopeful that was obtained by The Associated Press.”

  • Blues Tiger : So far their 2 big candidates haven’t proven to be the sharpest knives in the political drawer

  • AdLib : From Wikipedia: Istook received $29,000 in campaign contributions from Abramoff and some of his clients. Istook wrote letters urging the Bush administration to reject a casino proposal that Abramoff’s clients opposed.

  • Blues Tiger : I think he is connected to them PT

  • PatsyT : Istook ? Is that the guy from Heritage Foundation?

  • AdLib : BT – That’s because the GOP plan is to always act as the victim. When it comes to race, it’s white people who are being victims. Taxes, it is rich people being victims. And so on and so on. Apparently, the victim mentality appeals to the poorly educated and financially desperate people who follow the GOP.

  • Blues Tiger : Oh and don’t forget asshole okie Earnest Istook is behind alot of that Big Lobby Tea Party money

  • Blues Tiger : Brown always said thanks for the support but I am not Tea Party

  • PatsyT : Brown is not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer

  • AdLib : BT – The original Tea Partier was Dick Armey from Freedomworks. Then Fox News. Yeah, real grass roots.

  • Blues Tiger : the wussies where attempting to deflect any repercussions upon a Minority instead of being man enough to Stand Up as themselves

  • AdLib : Brown hasn’t toed the TP line because he wants to be re-elected but that’s not going to happen either. A Dem will win his seat as long as they don’t run another goofball.

  • Blues Tiger : Think about this…. The original Tea Partiers where a bunch of white guys dressed up as a minority

  • AdLib : BT – Right again, how can a Repub be the head of a TP caucus if they aren’t a subset of the GOP? That logic can’t be opposed.

  • PatsyT : «link»

  • PatsyT : They are mad at Scott Brown for being such a tease

  • Blues Tiger : I thought of something the other day as I contemplated an article to post

  • AdLib : BT – True, they are a bogus, manufactured “group”. They are and always have been a subset of the GOP.

  • Blues Tiger : How can they have a Tea Party Caucus when there is no member elected as Tea Party?

  • Blues Tiger : No One is running under the Tea Party name

  • Blues Tiger : But thats just it AdLib all they are is GOP, not a single viable “Tea Party” candidate

  • Blues Tiger : They feel screwed by Scott Brown

  • AdLib : BT – The TP’s have a lot of influence thanks to the MSM, even though they are such a tiny group. Their influence is powerful on the GOP.

  • PatsyT : Hey they can always play Vegas The Tea Partiers would like the free buffets !

  • Blues Tiger : I wonder just how much influence the Tea Party even has at this point

  • AdLib : BT – That sounds delicious! Much better bacon distribution than having the strips on top.

  • Blues Tiger : There is a diner around here, the cook puts bacon a stainless steel bowl of water and sits it on the grill… When he makes a burger patty he pulls out a few strips and chops it up fine on the grill and then adds it to the fresh ground chuck

  • AdLib : One last topic for the night that unfortunately has very little to do with bacon: The more Sharron Angle and Rand Paul help the public recognize what Tea Party candidates are all about (with Palin and Bachman in Overdrive…pun intended), could the Tea Party be dead after Nov if all their candidates lose?

  • PatsyT : Covered in powered sugar of course

  • PatsyT : They were selling that at the OC County fair

  • AdLib : Hey, how about a Bacon wrapped pound of bacon using a bacon wrapped frying pan and cooking with bacon grease?

  • PatsyT : It needs to be covered in batter and deep fried!

  • AdLib : The Infarction Burger.

  • AdLib : Yes Patsy, that’s the one that gave me a mini HA.

  • PatsyT : Ahhh AdLib you like the Bacon Cheese Turtle Burger ?

  • Blues Tiger : I have allergies to pork but every couple of months I gtota knaw some ribs or munch some bacon

  • AdLib : My heart just stopped for a brief second when I looked at Today in Bacon.

  • PatsyT : What so you do first drink the beer or bite the bacon?

  • Blues Tiger : I only eat bacon once or twice a year if I amlucky

  • AdLib : Bacon has a way of sliding around.

  • Blues Tiger : Dang all that looks great

  • PatsyT : Wow that Bacon Beer Mug gets around !

  • AdLib : My favorite medium is bacon. I have some drippings I could show you that are totally Jackson Pollock.

  • PatsyT : «link»

  • Blues Tiger : A True Bacon atist

  • AdLib : I’m surprised KFC hasn’t added it to the menu.

  • AdLib : Here it is… «link»

  • Blues Tiger : Nope

  • PatsyT : Has anyone seen the Bacon Beer Mug ?

  • AdLib : SOunds good, have a great weekend TIAP!

  • Blues Tiger : Nice meeting you TIAP hurry back

  • TakeInAPlay : See you next Friday or on the blogs.

  • PatsyT : TIAP Thanks It’s been a pleasure !

  • AdLib : Great having you here, TakeInAPlay, wonderful to have you on The Planet!

  • Blues Tiger : Even better TIAP

  • TakeInAPlay : Chocolate dipped bacon..on a stick.

  • Blues Tiger : Helloooooooooo choicelady

  • TakeInAPlay : Well, it’s been great chatting with y’all but I must go. Thanks for welcoming me into the fold.

  • Blues Tiger : Chocolate dipped Bacon!!!

  • AdLib : Mmm…chocolate doobies…y-a-r- g-h…

  • PatsyT : How can they sell enough Cheetos with all that smog?

  • Blues Tiger : I am all for chocolate

  • TakeInAPlay : Or increase your enjoyment of chocolate, chocolate chip ice cream…or any food for that matter.

  • AdLib : Yes BT but smog doesn’t enhance your listening pleasure of Dark Side of the Moon.

  • TakeInAPlay : Ad – ROFL!!!

  • Blues Tiger : We get enough of Dallas’s smog thank you very much

  • AdLib : TIAP – Well, first we have to admit we inhale…

  • AdLib : TIAP – Indeed, if 1.4 billion could go to schools, imagine the difference.

  • PatsyT : Hmmm more Tax $$$ less to care for in the prisons save some $$ there What is not to love about that?

  • TakeInAPlay : Well, when we exhale the smoke it does travel over state lines….

  • Blues Tiger : Just think when the feds figure out a way to tax your smoke Okla can get more of your tax dollars

  • TakeInAPlay : I consider 3 strikes as harmful as term limits. But that’s a whole other topic.

  • TakeInAPlay : Ad imagine what the state could do with that kind of revenue? It’s overwhelming what good it could do.

  • AdLib : Patsy – Yes, the Prison Industrial Complex is very powerful and helped push the 3 Strikes law for its own profit.

  • Blues Tiger : Think about TIAP, no one ever indroduced a 3 strikes bill untill after Big Corp involved themselves in Prisons

  • PatsyT : Hey those inmates that escaped recently weren’t they from a private prison ?

  • TakeInAPlay : BT good point. Our history with outsourcing has not been positive or productive.

  • Blues Tiger : We are opening a “Christian Based” Private Prison here

  • AdLib : TIAP – From Wikipedia: The California legislature has estimated that taxing the previously untaxed domestically grown $14 billion marijuana market would produce $1.4 billion a year,

  • Blues Tiger : PT when we allowed prisons to go Private thats when they started sending everybody up

  • PatsyT : AdLib isn’t the Prison Union in Ca Ultra Powerful ? They want more inmates

  • TakeInAPlay : AdLib – exactly my point. It would help the overcrowding in prisons and imagine how great it would be for marijuana taxes to fund schools and health care programs. It just makes sense to me.

  • AdLib : And law enforcement time and resources spent on busting pot dealers and farms could go to meth dealers.

  • Blues Tiger : I never imagined as a teenage in the 70′s we would be dealing with Pot issues in 2010

  • PatsyT : TIAP ROTFL !

  • AdLib : TIAP – To be serious, the amount of money spent on prison incarceration and the court system related to marijuana is massive, indeed, that money could be directed to more violent and dangerous criminals.

  • TakeInAPlay : PT, he’s boppin it to the man!

  • Blues Tiger : Andrew Rice in particular

  • Blues Tiger : We have a few I support

  • PatsyT : YOu go Judge !

  • AdLib : BT – The problem is that in a red state like OK, it’s a challenge for Dems to be willing to take the risk of investing in running for a major office, knowing they’re likely to lose. SO only those who don’t have other choices are mopre likely to run, weaker candidates and such.

  • TakeInAPlay : Yes, he did an around the state and back snap.

  • PatsyT : BT LOL !

  • Blues Tiger : running away

  • TakeInAPlay : AdLib we could also steer the drug money to fight meth, which is where the real drug danger is. Not the backyard potfarm.

  • Blues Tiger : So did the judge give a “snap” with his ruling?

  • PatsyT : Bt you are in the middle of it … Have you thought of running?

  • PatsyT : TIAP So Funny !! :-)

  • Blues Tiger : yep

  • AdLib : TIAP – Think of the jumpstart to the economy legalizing marijuana would provide. Aside from being taxed and providing billions in state revenue, the fast food and pizza delivery business would skyrocket, 24 hour supermarkets would expand everywhere and Ben and Jerry’s would become the official state food of CA, providing sponsorship money to the state!

  • PatsyT : BT by around here do you mean OK?

  • TakeInAPlay : We didn’t know about his gayness under the DADT policy.

  • Blues Tiger : So I am going with Virgin(no pun intended_

  • Blues Tiger : We need new blood

  • PatsyT : Did anyone object to his gayness during the trial?

  • Blues Tiger : It would help if the Dems around here didn’t suck too

  • TakeInAPlay : Yes, go Prop 19! (This endorsement of Prop 19 was brought to you by the Chips Ahoy Enthusiasts).

  • AdLib : And only white judges should decide race-related matters. That sounds fair.

  • PatsyT : So was their plan to say if he rules for us (the 8 ers) we will not bother about his being gay but if rules against us -We are going to throw a Big Hissy Fit !!

  • Blues Tiger : so do we get to use the same argument if a hetro judge rules against it?

  • AdLib : BT – Sometimes, the art of judo is the only way to win in the end. Use someone’s power against themselves. If OK becomes all GOP, the resulting oppression and disaster will move people much farther towards the Dems than they were before. Wish it didn’t have to be this way but too many people only learn the hard way.

  • PatsyT : TIAP Yes !! but of course You can count what he has ruled because that judge is a Gay !!! Now what if he ruled for the Prop Haters? Do we still have to discount his ruling – I mean he being gay and all ….

  • AdLib : If Prop 19 here in CA passes, we can smoke our own “tea”.

  • TakeInAPlay : AdLib, yeah, isn’t that quaint?

  • AdLib : TIAP – Imagine that, using the constitution for something other than allowing the carrying of guns to church.

  • TakeInAPlay : My green tea comes in a hemp bag.

  • TakeInAPlay : And may I say how refreshing it was to have the courts reinforce the idea that all men, and women, are created equal?

  • PatsyT : My green tea comes with a twist

  • Blues Tiger : If we get Falin as Gov with our loco legislature it will be one interesting ride around here

  • AdLib : TIAP – In CA, especially after the recent ruling, you don’t have to drink your tea straight.

  • TakeInAPlay : Make sure you drink that tea straight.

  • AdLib : BT – I think you’re right, most of the purple or red states that moved Dem will likely move back hard right. That isn’t unusual in an off year election against the party in power but especially the case during bad economic times. But once Repubs have more power, they can’t play the same “it’s their fault” card the same way in 2012.

  • Blues Tiger : Alot of it will depend on how Obama fairs out and about campaigning…

  • PatsyT : Now I have to go get a green tea

  • AdLib : The Pro-Polio group can be the Sugar Cubes and be a natural partner with Tea Baggers!

  • PatsyT : I am with Howard Dean and I think we are in for an upset to the repubs hopes!

  • Blues Tiger : Every Major seat will probably become Red here

  • AdLib : Patsy – I saw that too, I think that is a bit optimistic but I don’t think it will be the nightmare scenario the GOP is crowing about…and the net result, even if Repubs pick up a bunch, is that they came in below expectations and they are not the winners.

  • PatsyT : AdLib these folks want to bring back Polio

  • Blues Tiger : Oklahoma stands a good chance to become totally red

  • Blues Tiger : I think in alot of areas that will be true PT

  • PatsyT : He said they may only lose 1 seat in the senate

  • AdLib : BT – Since it really has no bearing and works more as a way to tell DC to screw themselves, I can imagine many voting for these propositions just for the satisfaction of it. Then, when they’re sick, I’ll bet they’d be glad to have insurance even though they have a pre-existing condition.

  • PatsyT : Today Howard Dean said that the Nov election will be much closer then the repubs think !

  • Blues Tiger : I know what peoples arguments for the Mandates are, but IMO it was a big mistake to push through the Mandate with a reconciliation vote

  • AdLib : On the other hand, I always keep in mind that there are good people in every state and to punish them because of a desire to give ignorant people a comeuppance, isn’t fair.

  • Blues Tiger : We vote on it here in Oklahoma in November

  • AdLib : BT – Yep, you have a lot of Blue Dog Dems in Missouri too. On one hand, I’d like those who oppose HCR to get their wish and allow their states to not participate. As jobs and people migrate away, they will lose representation and power. Then who will need an aspirin?

  • AdLib : Hansher is also a leader of the Purity League. These are very bright people but they seem wholly blind to the simple proposition that if you oppose Obama, you are supporting a President Mitt Romney in 2012. Do they think that’s better?

  • Blues Tiger : and there were no Independent Candidates but if you add up the votes you would have to assume about 50,000 Independents showed up just to Vote in favor of PropC

  • Blues Tiger : The Prop C was a big draw for GOP but about 100,000 Dems voted for it too

  • AdLib : BT – I’m thinking only about the indie swing voters, Repubs like the majority in Missouri aren’t going to vote anything but Repub nor ever cancel their memberships in the Flat Earth Believers.

  • PatsyT : At any given time the MSNBC group can say things I want to cheer for but then some jump off a cliff… Dylan ? Where did he learn sentence structure?

  • Blues Tiger : The GOP turnout was close to double of the Dems

  • Khirad : Yeah, and both of them care what Hamsher has to say for some reason.

  • Blues Tiger : I crunched the Missouri #’s from the recent primaries AdLib

  • AdLib : I liked Cenk but he has signed onto the Dem purist bandwagon, Obama is bad because he’s not Progressive enough, blah-blah-blah.

  • Khirad : Cenk lays it on thick, but still isn’t as shrill as DR.

  • Blues Tiger : Nope

  • AdLib : BT – True but will there be a realization by those who would vote against Dems that they are voting for more Bushism?

  • Khirad : God, I so can’t stand that man. I’d rather have Cenk move into his slot.

  • TakeInAPlay : My answer, Repub is Latin for revenge. They’re only concern is spite and payback. The good of the country is not the focus of the party unless it benefits them personally.

  • Blues Tiger : Even worse is the Daytime lineup AdLib, try and watch more than 5 minutes of Cenk

  • PatsyT : Mitch McConnell should talk about faces ! He looks like he has a hot wax job on his !

  • AdLib : BT – WHo can stomach the faux populism of Dylan Ratigan?

  • Blues Tiger : The GOP is going to vote no on anything that requires funding bwtween now and Nov.

  • AdLib : TIAP –

  • AdLib : Next Topic: Mitch McConnell was upset at Al Franken rolling his eyes during McConnell’s BS speech against Kagan and cried foul. And yet, the GOP has forced families to go without Unemployment checks, 9/11 workers to go without financial aid and small businesses and states to go without financial support. Is the absurdity of the Repub campaign for Nov going to dawn on the majority of people considering voting for them or will they follow mindlessly a revenge vote on Dems without thinking about what more Repubs in Congress means?

  • Blues Tiger : I wish he had more Air time

  • Blues Tiger : I saw that

  • Khirad : By the way, Fareed Zakaria has given back an award given to him by the ADL. Three cheers for Fareed!

  • Blues Tiger : I may catch some of Rachal late night

  • TakeInAPlay : Basil is the herb Beck admits to using.

  • Blues Tiger : I am also finding it more and more difficult to watch MSNBC too

  • PatsyT : Becks shirts fit a bit better ?

  • PatsyT : I can make a nice pasta with Basil and Beck is a beer

  • Blues Tiger : Thats just it Khirad I want to watch Sanchez but it can be difficult

  • PatsyT : But they are both kinda cute

  • AdLib : How can you tell the difference between Basil and Beck?

  • PatsyT : Sanchez reminds me of Huell Howser «link»

  • Blues Tiger : [NOTE: Transcript may have been edited to enhance readability , thats what it says below the transcript of the Basil Marceaux, com Glenn Beck interview

  • Khirad : Oh yes, BT, but don’t wade in too far.

  • Khirad : I used to hate schmaltzy Sanchez so much. And then on an issue or two he surprises me and calls someone on their bullshit and bigotry.

  • Blues Tiger : There are comments?

  • Khirad : “He warned us also of the coming Latter Day of theLaw-follow the Law,not the person…the advent of the evil priest, cataclysmic events, evil leaders:and our solution is exactly what you describe every day!I believe there are lots of us consertave Buddhists out here-just most don’t speak out.I stand with you!….Luvya,ma n…Morganns schmoot”

  • Khirad : Sorry, I was reading some of those comments on the Beck page. I’ll post my favorite separately.

  • PatsyT : Rick Sanchez «link»

  • AdLib : How does that impact anti-gay Meg Whitman?

  • Blues Tiger : Opps it’s not the Feds but there is an investigation «link»

  • AdLib : BTW, Schwarzenegger and Jerry Brown are together asking the judge to allow gays to marry.

  • Blues Tiger : I try to watch him but I get bored quickly’

  • PatsyT : Rick Sanchez can be so softball it was kinda funny to see him on that stuff.

  • Blues Tiger : I think the Feds are looking into them PT

  • AdLib : Beck: “I have a Sheet…I mean a dream!”

  • PatsyT : BT didn’t Rick Sanchez go after that goldline stuff?

  • Blues Tiger : Anyone wanna bet he invokes the words “I have a dream” during his Lincoln Memorial speech?

  • Blues Tiger : Have they begun the investigation of Goldline yet>

  • Khirad : Heh, I missed the goldline ad the first time around.

  • Khirad : Seriously, whatever happened to the Arrested Development movie… sorry, Juno took me there.

  • PatsyT : Would it still be on the list?

  • Khirad : Oh, the adoptive parents… yes, that would make it even trickier.

  • PatsyT : The yuppie couple not straight but Gay – Guppies

  • Khirad : MLK? This dude’s trying to start his own LDS offshoot. And he has the nerve to talk about Paine?

  • Blues Tiger : The Marchand Speech planned at the Lincoln Memorial and that BS link are just the beggining

  • AdLib : Beck called the first black president of the U.S. a racist for absolutely no reason and has expressed racism again and again. Him being MLK an overstatement? It’s an amusement park caricature.

  • Khirad : Do you mean to suggest that the baby might have had ‘the gay’ and made the Angle position a little trickier, PatsyT?

  • Blues Tiger : check out this link «link»

  • Khirad : Just a tad, maybe BT?

  • AdLib : TIAP – Uh-oh…logic like that makes Repubs have to change themselves. Totally agree, using the upbringing of children, as the logical conclusion of the act of procreation, as the operable test, Repubs fail horribly.

  • Blues Tiger : speaking of the Beckster… Is latest movement to be the new MLK is going a bit to far in my opinion

  • PatsyT : Hey what if the couple in Juno was really really Gay ?

  • PatsyT : Khirad… I hope he has his shots !

  • AdLib : Khirad – That is hilarious!

  • PatsyT : TIAP Now you are making to much sense –Those poor girls are supposed to suffer as are their offspring!

  • AdLib : Patsy – Heh! Here’s a paper towel. BTW, that’s from Scanners by David Cronenberg.

  • Khirad : I’m actually imagining this x 100 «link»

  • PatsyT : AdLib, That made a Mess of my screen ! Cut it out!

  • AdLib : BT – Then most men won’t be able to marry if marriage is all about procreation. Only women could marry since they could procreate…then women would have to marry women…The Gay wins again!

  • Khirad : Ah, but someone actually “reasoned” thus. Two adults can choose (their deviant (lifestyle). A child can’t choose their parents (assuming they would choose a hetero couple). Like AdLib said – smack ‘em over the head with the Constitution.

  • AdLib : A sneak peak into the future: Glenn Beck hearing that the SCOTUS has found for Gay Marriage and HCR: «link»

  • Blues Tiger : Correct AdLib and according to Alex our poisoned food supply is creating low sperm counts on almost all American males

  • PatsyT : Beck and Hannity on Air Aneurisms BIG RATINGS !

  • TakeInAPlay : If you take the ‘procreation’ part of the argument and replace it with ‘marriage is for the purpose of raising children in a 2 parent household’ then it would be right. That would allow for the same sex couples who were legally married to raise the children given up for adoption by all the teen mothers that were forced to have their babies becuase of the limits being placed on reproductive health care.

  • AdLib : Khirad – Absolutely, going with the 14th Amendment makes the most sense. Quit trying to reason with lemmings, smack ‘em on the head with the Constitution.

  • Khirad : I finally came to it and said fine. You’re so attached to the word marriage, then everyone gets civil unioned. No more state recognized marriages if you’re so friggin’ attached to the word. Just keep in mind they get all the same rights and benefits still!

  • PatsyT : Is this somewhere in the core of some RW people that they could no longer say -I’m Married and that would mean that they are not GAY -that they like to be able to define themselves by saying that they are Married? They want to have a way to say NOT GAY

  • AdLib : BT – That would also mean that infertile women and men with too-low sperm counts should not be allowed to marry.

  • Khirad : You know, I’m really glad arguing this on the 14th Amendment. That Mass. decision didn’t sit right with me.

  • AdLib : TIAP – I think you’re right, all they had was the testimony of two or three extremists whose “proof” was the intermingled opinions of each other!

  • Blues Tiger : Nice

  • Blues Tiger : f the public reason for the institution of marriage is to facilitate procreation and the exercise of parental rights and obligations as well as filial rights and obligations, then it follows that marriage should be limited to heterosexual couples. Only they are capable of procreation.

  • Khirad : Judicial activism, blah blah blah.

  • TakeInAPlay : {{Fingers Crossed}}

  • Khirad : I’ll love it!

  • AdLib : Khirad – Can you imagine if the SCOTUS, “their” SCOTUS affirms HCR and Gay Marriage? Beck and Hannity will have on air aneurisms.

  • TakeInAPlay : I don’t think the appeal for the Prop 8 ruling will make it to the appeal’s court. They don’t have any lega; arguments that will hold.

  • Khirad : Oops «link»

  • Khirad : I found the link that someone tried to pass off in bogus “secular traditional” terms.

  • AdLib : BT – Indeed, what should be affirmed is that all Americans have rights that can’t be infringed upon.

  • Khirad : Well now, I’ve been corrected. I guess, the challenges have forced their hand. If anything I should welcome the SCOTUS decision on HCR. Righties heads will explode.

  • Blues Tiger : I loved what the Judge said about protecting “rights

  • PatsyT : They sure have their array of scare tactics Teaching Gay Marriage in the Schools- Marrying your Dog- Your Goat etc…

  • AdLib : BT – I think this is a turning point, once the SCOTUS turns down or takes the case and finds that the Constitution doesn’t allow states to deny rights to citizens even if they don’t conform to what a majority may want, many things will change.

  • Blues Tiger : It should be about Gays right to marry but it should also be about recognizing any couple

  • Blues Tiger : To me it is more than “gay marriage”, here in Oklahoma they refuse to recognize common law marriage too

  • AdLib : Patsy –

  • AdLib : Khirad – The SCOTUS will surely hear it but to rule against people paying for HC would rule against SS, UI and Medicare too, especially Medicare. These are all mandatory amounts taken from paychecks.

  • PatsyT : I liked the statement that you can’t say -one marriage is superior to the other -…just ask the ex wife of the Gov of South Carolina

  • TakeInAPlay : PT Sarah is so blonde because being blonde is not a haircolor but a state of mind.

  • Khirad : Ah, yes AdLib, I see that about HCR now. I still have to wonder what the chances are it’ll be heard though.

  • AdLib : Khirad – That’s the kind of BS that the judge blew out of the water, one can’t use religious beliefs as “proof” that others should be treated as inferiors.

  • PatsyT : Sorry TIAP I will try to act like my blonde self… Say how come Sarah is so blonde?

  • Blues Tiger : helloooooo PT

  • Khirad : Lord, someone tried to push of one of those Intellectual Design type arguments, comparing gays to handicap children in need of special circumstances. Just stop it already. It’s about YOUR interpretation of religion. And even when trying to pass off the argument as based on “tradition predating religion” that’s all it is, and you can’t help yourself with the “unnatural” argument.

  • PatsyT : Hi BT !

  • TakeInAPlay : Hey Blue! Nice to be met.

  • AdLib : Patsy – Newt came out against the ruling, decrying how it undermines marriage…as he counted on three fingers the number of marriages he’s had.

  • PatsyT : Free or inexpensive Counciling – Anger management You might save some marriages that way.

  • TakeInAPlay : PatsyT, quite making sense. That’s not allowed in politics.

  • Blues Tiger : Hello TnP nice to meet you

  • AdLib : TIAP – The adam’s apple is a tip off.

  • Blues Tiger : It will be interesting to see the rulings on Prop8, I felt the Judge offered up some interesting arguments on what we should be allowed to vote on

  • PatsyT : Gee what if the RW’s took all that $$$ they are using on Prop 8 legal fees and marketing and instead put it into actual marriages that are at risk with little kids.

  • AdLib : Khirad – This SCOTUS hearing of HCR has been in the works, it’s the culmination of all those Repub Governors having their AG’s sue against it.

  • TakeInAPlay : AdLib, well, Ann Coulter is a man after all!

  • Blues Tiger : I saw that too Khirad

  • AdLib : Saw this headline: Ann Coulter To Headline ‘Homocon’ Event For Gay Conservatives

  • Khirad : Considering Prop 8, what is weird to me is this chatter of SCOTUS hearing HCR. Where did this come from? I guess THIS is where they’re pushing the wedge issue?

  • Blues Tiger : Hello AdLib

  • AdLib : Hey BT!

  • Blues Tiger : Helloooooooooo Everyone

  • Blues Tiger : Orrrrr Canadian Bacon!!

  • Khirad : I’m kinda surprised The Last Supper was not there. Or Wag The Dog. Or even Shoot ‘Em Up. Okay, on topic now, promise!

  • AdLib : TIAP – I think this is a contrived list, made to look like conservatives are “cooler” than they really are. I mean, are we really supposed to imagine John Boehner, Karl Rove and John McCain sitting in a theater watching Juno? As for Palin, she’d probably skip it saying, “Been there, done that”.

  • Khirad : That’s exactly what it was about TIAP.

  • TakeInAPlay : Khirad, I wondered about Juno too. But maybe it’s because she decided to have the baby and give it to a nice, white yuppy couple.

  • Khirad : The only reason Team America is there is because of Alec Baldwin. Otherwise, I think they completely missed all the jokes directed at neocons.

  • AdLib : Why don’t we begin? This week, Prop 8 was overturned in CA in a thorough and stinging decision that keeping gay people from marrying is unconstitutional . It is interesting that the Repubs had little push back on this, seemingly concerned that a focus on social issues will take them off message from, “Obama and his fellow Marxist Dems have taken away your job!” Have we reached a turning point, an evolution for gay rights or after the Nov election, will the Religious Right come back with a vengeance…lite rally?

  • Khirad : Alright what’s the conservative message of Gattaca, except that it was a subpar SciFi flick?

  • PatsyT : Oooo maybe the ghost of John Wayne is mad and does not want us to make fun of him

  • Khirad : Hahaha! The one I always rib them for is actually there! Red Dawn!

  • PatsyT : Pilgrim ! «link»

  • Khirad : How could they not pick the film that gave them the joker Obama?

  • Khirad : Ghostbusters and Blast From the Past? Jeeze, these really do write themselves…

  • AdLib : Bedtime for Bonzo is a clear oversight.

  • AdLib : Nope, no John Wayne or Heston or…REAGAN!!!

  • PatsyT : No John Wayne !

  • AdLib : Patsy – Yep, 2 Mel Gibsons, double your xenophobia, double your fun!

  • Khirad : Juno? Gee, I wonder what criteria that came down to. Couldn’t have been any of the quirky wit…

  • AdLib : Khirad –

  • AdLib : The punch lines just write themselves: “A Simple Plan” (Iraq), Groundhog Day (the election of Repubs this Nov), etc.

  • Khirad : 300. If only they could get in tune with their inner gay.

  • Khirad : Pursuit of Happiness, of course. That’s like Horatio Alger Republiporn.

  • PatsyT : Two Mel Gibson films !

  • AdLib : Waiting to begin, we’re discussing the National Review’s top films for conservatives: «link»

  • PatsyT : It is just for the last 25 years but still wouldn’t they make an exception for Ronnie?

  • PatsyT : Hi Khirad !

  • AdLib : Hey Khirad!

  • Khirad : Oh really? Today the repubs were literally defending the bomb.

  • PatsyT : No Regan no Charerlton Heston ???

  • AdLib : TIAP – Yep, many very good films on the list which I can guarantee are not really films most Repubs have or will watch. Come on, a foreign film like “The Lives of Others”? A film with subtitles? First, you’d have to read and that lets out many tea baggers.

  • TakeInAPlay : AdLib – Kill Bill – nice!

  • TakeInAPlay : I’m surprised the The Lives of Others is #1. That’s actually a really good film about breaking the rules to help an innocent, wrongly accused person.

  • AdLib : My new list of GOP fave movies: How I learned to Love the Bomb and Stop Worrying (Dr. Strangelove) and Kill Bill (as in legislation).

  • AdLib : TIAP – Heh!

  • TakeInAPlay : Blast From the Past is on the list. That’s a shocker!

  • AdLib : Hmm…should I be surprised that Forest Gump is one of their favorites?

  • AdLib : W-E-I-R-D! Your latest worked…

  • PatsyT : «link»

  • PatsyT : I don’t why that did not work

  • PatsyT : I did not see Dumb and Dumber I or II on this list ……but I saw Brazil!…http:/ /www.foxnews.com /slideshow/enter tainment/2009/10 /07/national-rev iews-films

  • AdLib : Patsy, do you have a link?

  • AdLib : Seeya in a few TakeInAPlay!

  • PatsyT : Hey util we start I ran across this… The Top 25 Film for Conservatives

  • TakeInAPlay : Excellent. I’ll go feed my cat and be back.

  • AdLib : Welcome TakeInAPlay, so nice to see you! Folks wander in between now and 7:30 or so, once we have several we’ll begin.

  • PatsyT : Hi TakeInaPlay1 Nice to meet you

  • PatsyT : Great! Dinner is done and it was delicious !

  • TakeInAPlay : Hi everyone! This is my first visit. What’s the topic?

Vox Populi – 7-30-2010

Posted by AdLib On August - 6 - 2010ADD COMMENTS
  • Blues Tiger : I will call it a nighht too.. Thanks once again for the great convo

  • Blues Tiger : nite kes

  • PatsyT : Night Grandpa

  • AdLib : Night Kes! Night Patsy! Night BT! Night John Boy!

  • PatsyT : Good Night All ?-?-

  • kesmarn : Good night, all! It’s been great fun.

  • kesmarn : On that “happy” note, I guess I really should say good night.

  • AdLib : Sorry Kes! It is late! Why don’t we call it a night at the old Vox Populi pub? Thanks to everyone for a fun and thought provoking conversation, once again! Have a great weekend!

  • kesmarn : We would be truly a third world nation. Somalia would look good in comparison.

  • AdLib : Kes – Imagine the deficit rocketing up a trillion with new tax cuts and Wall Street free to catch up to where they were before…and jobs still reduced and at lower rates. If McCain had won, the US would probably be lost in recession for decades.

  • kesmarn : Oh Mercy! Why did I look at the clock. It’s 2 a.m. here!!!

  • kesmarn : Oh yeah.

  • PatsyT : Beck – LemonHead

  • kesmarn : Yes, AdLib, a Repub could easily completely undo what it has taken Obama years of painstaking effort to accomplish. Scary.

  • AdLib : Payamlin.

  • AdLib : Boehner – Carrot.

  • kesmarn : “I Yam What I Yam.” That sounds like Palin.

  • kesmarn : Limbaugh: BigBoy tomato.

  • PatsyT : Palin – Yam ?

  • AdLib : kes – If a Repub came in in 2012 and pushed back through more tax cuts and de-regulation, I would bet that within that first term, the economy would explode again.

  • Blues Tiger : Thats why I said I think both parties underestimate the mood of the people… GOP led Impeachment could quite possibly lead to rioyts in the streets this time around

  • PatsyT : Best Cold and crunchy

  • AdLib : A head of Romaine lettuce.

  • kesmarn : Perfect, Patsy.

  • PatsyT : Romney – Celery !

  • AdLib : BT – The Repubs have learned nothing from Monicagate. Persecuting Obama would only destroy support for them and build sympathy for Obama. Let them try, they will be squashed as the Newt generation was.

  • Blues Tiger : Ken Buck, a Colorado Republican candidate for Senate

  • PatsyT : Kes you got that right

  • kesmarn : Or — almost worse — take credit for the turn around that’s on the horizon.

  • PatsyT : Thanks BT – Dumbasses ! Perfect

  • AdLib : Kes – I don’t think he would be willing to let a President Romney come in and destroy everything he accomplished.

  • Blues Tiger : He called them dumbasses

  • Blues Tiger : I can’t remember his name

  • Blues Tiger : I posted that in OT PT

  • kesmarn : I think it’s taking a toll on him, although he’s holding up amazingly well. Sometimes I wonder if he would not be too disappointed at not having a second term.

  • AdLib : The Rep in Utah? Or someone else?

  • Blues Tiger : Let alone Bachmann has stated that if they do she will supena all the Dems and force hearings

  • PatsyT : Hey who was the repub guy that called them morons or idiots ?

  • AdLib : They also believe the Earth is flat and Sarah Palin wants to have sex with them.

  • Blues Tiger : A lot of the baggers belive they will take back both houses and Impeach the Prez…

  • AdLib : Kes – Indeed, Obama is surrounded by political and racial minefields and yet he has to quickly pick his way through it to get done so many enormous and urgent things. No president in our lifetimes has had such huge challenges all at once and though I don’t agree with everything he’s doing, he is doing so much so quickly, it really is astonishing.

  • kesmarn : What they lack in intelligence, they make up for in persistence, BT.

  • PatsyT : Ohhh Groan the birthers again !!

  • Blues Tiger : In his conduct while President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has prevented, obstructed, and impeded the administration of justice, and to that end, through his subordinates and agents, has: unlawfully engaged in a conspiracy to suppress evidence of the true place of his birth. This obstruction of justice has resulted in a violation of the Constitutional provision that a President of the United States must be a natural born citizen. Unlawfully refused his assent to the Laws of the United States, and exercised false powers of veto that are contrary to Constitution.

  • kesmarn : Rove I see as Mr. Potato (Head).

  • Blues Tiger : They never give it up…«link» impeachobamacamp aign.com/article sofimpeachment/

  • kesmarn : I think we probably minimize the extent to which FDR was vilified, but I’m sure he went through a lot of the same thing. And he’s revered now. But he didn’t have the race thing to contend with.

  • AdLib : Kes – Definitely, Cheney as Pick(le)! And Bush could be Artie CHoke.

  • AdLib : Patsy – Berry  , you make me laugh!

  • kesmarn : Cheney can be Pick(le).

  • PatsyT : Yes Kes the colors !

  • AdLib : Kes – Obama will be seen as an amazing president in the future and future generations will look back and think, “What kind of idiots were the people back then not to appreciate everything he did?”

  • kesmarn : I like these plant names; they’ll go well in my church on the stained glass windows and statuary.

  • PatsyT : Obama can be ?-?- Berry !

  • kesmarn : There have got to be days when he wonders why he ever wanted this job in the first place.

  • AdLib : I’ll be “Kumquat”.

  • PatsyT : Nice Kes, Can I be Eggplant?

  • kesmarn : I think I’m gonna call myself “Zucchini,” then.

  • AdLib : The MSM is part of this racist meme, Obama can’t be anything but a “safe” black man and then they’ll criticize him for that…but they would attack him more for showing emotion.

  • Blues Tiger : she is kinda “peachy”

  • PatsyT : Kes I don’t know but she his cute

  • kesmarn : Yes, and if he doesn’t show emotion, then he doesn’t “really care,” as in the Gulf situation.

  • AdLib : It is to him.

  • AdLib : And let’s not forget, Obama can’t get too angry or he’s an angry black man and that threatens white people.

  • kesmarn : Totally superficial, but is Mrs. Melancon’s name really “Peachy”?

  • AdLib : Internal Dem Poll Has Vitter, Melancon In Dead Heat Brian Beutler | July 22, 2010,

  • kesmarn : BT, you’ve got it. The Palins are totally “ghetto” in the stereotypical sense. While the Obama’s have to be Ozzie and Harriet.

  • AdLib : BT – That is the truth. And imagine if Michelle was on tape being part of a separatist movement that opposed the US Government. And if they had been exorcised for demons. The list goes on and on, the double standard is absurd.

  • kesmarn : Right, AdLib. And yet that’s the kind of corruption that actually is much more damaging. I’m sure we all know that, though…

  • Blues Tiger : If Michelle had Mcacin’s wifes record for staeling drugs , the man couldn’t even consider office

  • PatsyT : Melancon is almost even in the polls to Vitter «link»

  • Blues Tiger : Thee is no way Obama would have been nominated if he appeared on stage with a bunch of kids, a teenage daughter with a baby out of wedlock and his wife holding a handicapped baby…

  • AdLib : Kes – But that kind of corruption has been normalized, it’s just not as big of a deal politically to take money given by corps, it’s seen more as the way business is done.

  • kesmarn : Yes, AdLib, and when Palin’s daughter had the baby out of wedlock, it was not only overlooked. She was celebrated as a saint and martyr because hadn’t opted to abort.

  • Blues Tiger : I always mentioned that during the Prez campaign AdLib

  • kesmarn : When you think of the bazillions of dollars that people on the right took from Big Insurance during the health care debate, it makes Rangel’s offenses look like peccadillos.

  • AdLib : BT – Yep, but the old school corruption just doesn’t slide by today, especially for Dems.

  • AdLib : Hey, they’re Republicans, Patsy, we all know they’re hypocrites. But Dems! That’s not acceptable from them! Imagine if Obama had an adult daughter who had an out of wedlock birth during the presidential campaign, his campaign would have been over. But Palin? It’s okay, she’s a Republican, we know their full of crap.

  • Blues Tiger : He is just from the old school AdLib… Not many left…

  • PatsyT : Where is all the outrage abut Ensign and Vitter !!! ?????

  • AdLib : Obama doesn’t want an ethics trial over a Dem running up to the Nov election but Rangel isn’t going to give up easily.

  • Blues Tiger : I see Obama has dropped a hint about it

  • AdLib : BT – I think Rangle is going down but he is not the type to resign willingly, he’ll push this all the way. His ethical violations are those of a man with a lot of gall.

  • kesmarn : Patsy, that looks like a fascinating program.

  • PatsyT : No wonder they (repubs) are against trial Lawyers

  • kesmarn : BT. I wouldn’t be surprised. He looked a little deflated in the last clip I saw.

  • AdLib : Patsy – Very cool, I am going to watch that tomorrow!

  • kesmarn : AdLib, I am VERY glad to hear that. Oooooh, I hope she wins!

  • Blues Tiger : Do you guys think Rangle will resign?

  • AdLib : kes – It is not a defense that will hold water. The preface clearly stated that it was about Sherrod admitting she was racist in how she performed her job in USAG. NOTHING about the NAACP in the preface, his BS excuse will be decimated.

  • kesmarn : I think I remember that Post case, but any monetary penalty? That’s all Murdoch understands.

  • PatsyT : Try again «link»

  • PatsyT : This was rebroadcast last week on our OC PBS channel … It’s two hours long but I though about Fox and wondered if anything could happen to Fox like it did to the LA Times??«link» w.pbs.org/kcet/i nventing-la/watc h_online.html

  • AdLib : Murdoch apologized for that racist cartoon in the Post, that was a first.

  • kesmarn : Breitbarf has gall, though, I have to say. He tried to shift ground and say it was really all about the audience reaction to her words. Slippery.

  • AdLib : Night Bito! So glad to chat with you tonight!

  • PatsyT : Nighty Night Bito rest well….

  • Blues Tiger : Be well Bito

  • kesmarn : Good night, b’ito. Sleep well.

  • bitohistory : My meds are calling. Thanks everyone. peace

  • AdLib : WOnder if Fox News will cover its own libel and defamation trial?

  • kesmarn : She deserves every dime and every bit of vindication she can get. I think Al Gore ought to sue this crazy woman who falsely accused him, too. Hit ‘em in the wallet, where it hurts.

  • AdLib : He succeeded in destroying ACORN with libel and tried it again. This suit isn’t going away, I don’t think. She will take him down hard, I’ll bet.

  • kesmarn : I’d like to see Murdoch himself apologize and/or be sued. Take it to the top.

  • AdLib : These RW assholes think there are no rules because they can get away with so much. Is it any coincidence Breitbart has disappeared from the media now? O’Reilly went on Leno to explain why Fox merely made a mistake and he apologized. A corp like Fox NEVER apologizes…unl ess they know they’re in deep trouble.

  • kesmarn : I’ve seen little bits of her husband’s speeches, b’ito. He is nobody’s fool.

  • kesmarn : And yet the damage to ACORN stands. And it was such a good organization.

  • Blues Tiger : The sued him I beleive Kes

  • kesmarn : That’s a very wise move on her part, then, to keep her options open. She’s remarkable to be able to move past bitterness, after what happened to her father. What a horrible thing, though, to lose your dad and then be attacked later in life by a racist.

  • PatsyT : Brightbutt edited up the wrong tape

  • bitohistory : her Father was killed by the Klan and her husband was a founder of Snic, I think she has the stamina to last a major trial

  • AdLib : kes – I think that one reason she hasn’t accepted the new position is that it would mitigate her damages and she may want justice instead. This is a woman whose father was assinated by a white man who was never held responsible, she may want to finally deliver justice against a racist white assassin.

  • kesmarn : Was there a suit on that one, BT?

  • Blues Tiger : He already lost in the Acorn battle…

  • kesmarn : Bertha Lewis from ACORN would probably be the first contributor to that defense fund!

  • AdLib : bito – I’d toss in a couple of bucks and I’d bet many others would.

  • kesmarn : You know, AdLib, if she has the stamina to do it, I say more power to her. I was just wondering if she might not rather be spared the court thing. Would love to see him finally get what’s coming to him, though.

  • bitohistory : I posted wondering if she would get any donations for a legal fund? Ya think ? ;-)

  • AdLib : Patsy – Yes, it was on Fox Nation, they published libel as well. They will use their money and lawyers to try and wriggle out of it, they may succeed but I’ll bet a settlement is in the cards for them.

  • AdLib : Kes – Breitbart is in the most trouble, he is the original publisher and he made a libelous statement at the beginning of the video. He is in HUGE trouble and I bet he will try to settle…but if Shirley’s who I think she is, she’s going to drag him through court for a while first to turn the tables on him.

  • PatsyT : Wasn’t it on the fox site Fox Nation?

  • bitohistory : Nighty,nite, VB

  • PatsyT : Nighty Night Vegas Babe…

  • AdLib : Night VB!!!

  • Blues Tiger : Nite VB

  • AdLib : Libel is defined as unjustifiably holding someone up to public scorn. A news org has even more of a responsibility to verify than a jerk like Breitbart.

  • kesmarn : Good night, VB. It’s been fun.

  • Blues Tiger : I wonder if his eyes morphed when he said that ?

  • VegasBabe : Nite all :)

  • VegasBabe : drazil dree, drazil drone, time for this one to go home!

  • kesmarn : I’m hoping Breitbart is forced to take the lawsuit just seriously enough that there is a large out of court settlement. I think Ms. Sherrod would probably be OK with that, too.

  • bitohistory : the libel thing may work, they are difficult

  • AdLib : bito – Libel isn’t protected by 1st Amendment. It is not a cakewalk to win a libel suit but she has a lot of great ammunition to win it.

  • VegasBabe : ok. now it makes more sense Adlib. thanks for the heads up.

  • AdLib : BT – No wonder Obama doesn’t have a birth certificate, he was hatched!

  • bitohistory : First amendment thing, AdLib?

  • Blues Tiger : OMG President Obama said “reptilian side of our brain” on the view… I gotta go check the World Leaders are Reptilian Aliens” conspricay sites now…

  • kesmarn : So true, Patsy. That “wide stance” story lacked creativity.

  • AdLib : bito – they posted libel on their website and Sherrod lost her job over it, that is concrete damages for libel.

  • bitohistory : A case against Fux, would be tough. IMHO

  • PatsyT : Kes, yes they have no imagination

  • kesmarn : Patsy, that tag is for T-Baggers who need instructions.

  • AdLib : VB – I edited a video of Brietbart so he confessed to taking crack cocaine during the birth of his kids, admitted being a narcissist and a fraud. So pleased Sherrod is suing him, hope she bankrupts him and takes a bundle from Fox.

  • bitohistory : Good question ,BT

  • VegasBabe : thanks kes.

  • kesmarn : VB, that was Breitbart, confessing all his sins.

  • bitohistory : orly taints patch?

  • Blues Tiger : Does youtube count views from other sites?

  • PatsyT : Price Tag. That piece of bear will cost you

  • bitohistory : path= patch

  • VegasBabe : Who was the gray haired guy talkin’?

  • bitohistory : What’s the path on the bear’s behind, patsy? Animal abuse?

  • AdLib : Here’s the link: «link» I should have added subtitles but read the description…

  • kesmarn : AdLib, I was one of the 1000. I’ll have to go back and bump up the numbers a bit!

  • Blues Tiger : I have posted on Soda head a few times and even a link to here, but none of the loons seem to have made the trip

  • bitohistory : Not bad AdLib

  • VegasBabe : I haven’t seen it Adlib. May I have the link?

  • kesmarn : If you can stop laughing long enough…
