First let me unequivocally say I would prefer single payer over all and a robust public option for the entire country at least. However the one public option compromise I think I can live with was reported by Sam Stein today.  Some Senate Democrats are suggesting that they would add […]

One of the misconceptions in the healthcare debate is that single payer is the only way to keep healthcare costs down.  Countries like the Netherlands and Japan keep healthcare costs much lower than ours and have much better quality healthcare than ours with mostly private systems. All our legislature needs […]

So many things are going on around us without our knowing. For example, I just took a bite of your tuna sandwich. Mmmm…delicious mercury! Below is a list of things you may or may not know but are not greatly publicized: 1. Social Security\Medicare has been de facto reduced for […]

All being real healthcare reform with a public option and nothing being no healthcare bill at all. Senator Cantwell (D-WA) is the second Finance Committee member along with Senator Rockefeller (D-WV) to say this will not vote for Chairman Baucus’ (D-MT) health insurance reform bill in it’s present form. “I […]

Senator Baucus (D-MT) finally unleashed his bill which is mostly a giveaway to the healthcare industry.  Re-releasing this post to remind everyone what’s in the bill. The plan has no Public Option with possible co-ops or triggers in it’s place.  The bad fact is this is not the worst part […]

Wow! Last night was incredible. I must say, I found the entire Presidential Address to Congress to be IMMENSELY entertaining. I mean, what can I say? How often do you get to see a party behave like petulant children, unable to get their way, and therefore throwing fits DURING a presidential speech?

Oh, there was a’hooting and a’hollering.

Oh, there was a’waving of random signs and pieces of paper in the air.

And to top it off? The phrase heard around the world:

The president was up against it.  The whole centerpiece for his young presidency was on the line and in jeopardy from those on the left and right alike. President Obama took the podium nervous with almost half the crowd wanting him to fail. He more than anyone knew if he […]

President Obama’s speech tonight was just the prescription Health Care Reform needed and made me remember how he inspired me during the election. And Republican Rep. Joe Wilson who screamed, “YOU LIE!” in the midst of the speech was just the overdose the GOP needed to go into a coma. […]

While the rest of the blog world is obsessed with what President Obama WILL SAY, WILL NOT SAY or are presumptuous and insist on what he MUST SAY, I will opt to wait for what the president DOES SAY. My only recommendation is to judge what the president says by […]

Yipe! An article on the AP this morning should cause any supporter of a  public plan and those anticipating that Pres. Obama would come out strong for it in his speech to Congress, some pause and concern: White House: public health care plan is negotiable By RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR, Associated Press […]

Okay folks, this is do or die for President Obama in my mind. Will he come out swinging like Obama the candidate or mushing around in the middle as Obama the President has far too often. His first real speech on passing the Health Care Reform bill. I want to […]

One of the most interesting ironies within the healthcare debate is the most liberal healthcare solution, single payer healthcare, is the most fiscally responsible solution as well.  You can find many details about the finances of single payer on the Physicians for a National Health Program website.  Democrats are afraid […]

The fires are raging over an enormous swath of the Angeles Forest north of Los Angeles and one can’t help but consider if this record breaking fire will soon lose its record. Global warming has created severe droughts throughout the world, huge fires are on the rise and there is […]

Bill Moyers is possibly the last of the breed of journalists who carry the trust and respect of the people. If you didn’t see it last night, he used his show to host a screening of the film, based on the book, “Money Driven Medicine”.  As much as I’ve tried […]
