Vox Populi, our weekly live chat about the week’s events begins tonight at 7:00pm PDT. Hope to see you then!

Hey PPO!
AdLib an hour ago
Hi Ad! Exciting enough for you these days?
pinkpantheroz

Man, good thing God made sedatives.
AdLib an hour ago
Just catching up. Friday is usually good for a TwirRant
pinkpantheroz

I wonder if many of the Obama voters who voted for Trump are addicted to the rush of waking up each morning to see if the country has blown up?
AdLib an hour ago
Absolutely!
AdLib an hour ago
Hey glenn!
AdLib an hour ago
hi glenn
pinkpantheroz

Giuliani as a shyster? Bottom of Barrel time!
pinkpantheroz

Hey Ad–You can now call me Mimi The Great! My great grandson was born this week! 7lbs. 11 ozs., and he’s adorable!
glenn

In a normal reality, Trump’s polling numbers should be down in the 20s or below.
AdLib an hour ago
Hey PPO!
glenn

Congrats Mimi! I hope the delivery wasn’t too rough on you!!
pinkpantheroz

WOW!!! Congrats Mimi!!! That’s wonderful\!!!
AdLib an hour ago
Ad–In a normal reality, trump shouldn’t be occupying the oval office.
glenn

Thanks, guys. It was difficult waiting for the news and pictures; he was born in Florida. But it was a scheduled C-section, so he was pretty much “on time”.
glenn

Well, I can understand how having the FBI and Russia teaming up against a candidate who’s in a tight race could get Trump elected. But this slimeball says and does the most horrible things and the racists and extramists supporting him just applaud.
AdLib an hour ago
glenn – Glad to hear all went as planned! Even so, I know it’s stressful, so wonderful when it’s all done and you’ve got a beautiful grandson there!
AdLib an hour ago
All the Gop squabbling is gold for Dems , if only they take advantage and stop infighting. The only thing that can defeat Dems is Dems
pinkpantheroz

Ad–some of them are having second thoughts. Just read an article about a place in TN that had an ICE raid, and now some of them are saying they “don’t understand” the immigration system. DUH!
glenn

My top wish right now is that NY AG Schneiderman gets that bill passed to insure that he can prosecute any charges against Trump and his crime family no matter what happens federally. Take the obstruction and pardons out of Trump’s hands and Trump goes down.
AdLib an hour ago
Ad–yeah, there’s always a slight risk with any pregnancy, but my granddaughter came through it like a trooper!
glenn

great news, glenn. A huge relief, no doubt!
pinkpantheroz

Ad–“Some people are saying” that even though the charges are in NY, they are in a FEDERAL court in NY, so the person occupying the oval office may get away with the pardons, and there is nothing Schneiderman can do about them.
glenn

PPO – My impression is that those voting for Dems are less about the internal issues between Progressives and Establishment Dems, less about party than about issues and fighting against Trump. I am a bit annoyed about all the games the Estab Dems are playing right now to be in control when Dems win in Nov though. The last thing Dems need is to go back to corproate Dem mentalities.
AdLib an hour ago
My top wish is that Dems sweep the House and Senate and impeach the person occupying the oval office. Can TPOTOO pardon people before Mueller brings charges?
glenn

glenn – Yes, read that article too and I know that most polls show Dem candidates doing incredibly well…looks like a Dem may win Flake’s seat in AZ! Though, why is Trump as high as 40% in polls if Repubs are only around 35% of voters? What about that 5%?\
AdLib an hour ago
Hey Murph!
AdLib an hour ago
glenn – All the best to your daughter, hubby and baby boy too! She did great!
AdLib an hour ago
Ad–that 5% may be “independents”; although I suspect it’s people who don’t want to admit they’re repubs.
glenn

Glenn….GREAT Grandson….GREAT! GREAT! GREAT!
MurphTheSurf3

But I agree with you; how in the hell can the person occupying the oval office be polling at 40%?
glenn

Hey Murph–Thanks!
glenn

HELLO….Glenn, Ad, and PPO! read through the conversation so far…you guys are on FIRE!!!!
MurphTheSurf3

glenn – Ignore those people saying that. NY State has many financial laws thanks to Wall Street being there for one thing, and at the bottom of all Trump’s crimes is money. So money laundering, doing business with criminals in Russia, fraud, etc. can all be tried in NY and Trump has his hands dirty with all of these things.
AdLib an hour ago
Hey Murph!
AdLib an hour ago
glenn: the type who would go to the opening of an envelope. Proof that 40% of the US population is batshit crazy
pinkpantheroz

Ad–do you think repubs are going to distance themselves from the person occupying the oval office for the midterms?
glenn

Hi murph. High praise indeed! Not worthy!
pinkpantheroz

glenn – Dems would need 2/3 of The Senate, even if they’re in power, to remove Trump. But who knows, if Mueller comes out with shocking revelations about Trump and Repubs get drowned in a blue wave this Nov…maybe it could happen.
AdLib an hour ago
PPO–never heard that one before–love it! Yeah, I can’t believe that people still support the moron in the oval office.
glenn

One caution: Gerrymander!
pinkpantheroz

BIG THING IN MY WORLD IS A FARMER UPRISING (well, a mini one, but a start) over the decision of the state’s number one commodity broker to issue NO letters of guarantee for the soybean crop, our state’s Number One Export, and most of it goes to China…..fury! Of course, many of the farmers still want to find some way not to blame Trump and cast it on the Dems…not working real well.
MurphTheSurf3

Independently ignorant, that is!
AdLib an hour ago
Glad to hear it but now that you’re hear, that kicks it up another notch!
AdLib an hour ago
here
AdLib an hour ago
I guess we have to be content with 60% of America being relatively sane.
AdLib an hour ago
The Co-Op which I help found and then was cast out of for being a librul! And then invited back into when necessary work was not being done has had several meetings. They are learning that Brazil has gotten the majority of the contracts. Sorghum is also being hit (our number three crop).
MurphTheSurf3

Ad–there are so many strange things swirling around the person occupying the oval office. If he is convicted of financial crimes in NY, can he still continue in office? I wouldn’t put it past him to be convicted and still assert that he should stay in office.
glenn

Murph, I’m betting there are some sheepish ( blush: looks in your direction just now. Well, it is tough when the idiot you elected ruins your life.
pinkpantheroz

glenn – I don’t think so, the only thing Repubs can run on is being Trump supporters. If they ran away from Trump but represent Trump having unchecked power if they keep Congress, why would anyone vote for them. My guess is that they need to go down with the Trumptanic…then they’ll start jumping ship…those who are left.
AdLib an hour ago
Murph–that’s what gets me the most about trump cultists. They will tie themselves in knots, lose money, their livelihoods, etc., yet still try to make it not their cultist leader’s fault. How can it be anyone else’s fault when the person occupying the oval office is the one who imposed the tariffs?
glenn

I was asked tonight if I had a prejudice against “the President.” I told him that I despised him for what he is doing to our country and its citizens. I judge him by his deeds and they have been almost exclusively despicable. Then I pointed to the lie about renewed middle class prosperity in light of the tariff war he has kicked off and may cost our friends very dearly. He did not reply.
MurphTheSurf3

glenn, agree with you. Blind cult followers.
pinkpantheroz

It sure seems easy for the Dem nominee to run in 2020 on supporting law enforcement unlike Trump, supporting health care for all, unlike Trump, defending America from our enemies like Russia unlike Trump, etc. This should be a cakewalk!
AdLib an hour ago
Murph–sounds like your fellow farmers are learning the hard way what a con man trump is.
glenn

Nicely done, Murph. It must be scary now to have backed that particular horse.
pinkpantheroz

All….there is some dawning to be seen among my neighbors but the impulse to defend HIM is overwhelming for most even now.
MurphTheSurf3

PPO – The Dems need a landslide to win in gerrymandered districts which is unfair but if they win back state houses in this Blue Tsunami, they can kill a lot of gerrymandering so the playing field is fair once again. Meaning Repubs can’t win.
AdLib an hour ago
Murph, will the realization turn some of them into Blue Voters? Or will they blindly persist in their old ways?
pinkpantheroz

PPO….I hope so but it is a long road to that step.
MurphTheSurf3

Keep walking it, Murph!
pinkpantheroz

Ad–Yeah, I didn’t think they’d run from trump, either, but I just wanted your opinion. They can’t whip up the base on taxes any more, or on Obamacare (seems they’ve given up on that), so their new “strategy” is you have to elect repubs to Congress, because if Dems win, they’ll impeach trump! Here’s hoping Dems have the fortitude to do so if they win.
glenn

Murph – Hard to have an effective uprising when farmers are hammered by Trump but blame Dems instead. Dems can’t reverse it and Trump won’t if he’s not getting blowback from it. Futile.
AdLib an hour ago
Ad, How about Trump’s ‘tame” Scotus pick voting against him? Delicious!
pinkpantheroz

Glenn – a very apt summary of the newest version of the GOP creed….Save Trump at All Costs!
MurphTheSurf3

Murph–He did not reply because there is no reply to what you said. They’ve all been conned, but just don’t want to admit it.
glenn

Murph – All you can hope for is that these Repub farmers get angry enough to listen to reason and accept a shred of the reality that is harming them…and who’s actually doing this to them.
AdLib an hour ago
BRB
pinkpantheroz

PPO…..yes – Gorsuch has turned out to be the toady Trump presumed he would be (although still not to my liking).
MurphTheSurf3

glenn – I don’t know that, it isn’t decided yet for certain if a sitting president can be criminally prosecuted but many of the legal experts I respect seem to say it’s more likely than less likely.
AdLib 44 minutes ago
Ad–it SHOULD be a cakewalk, but Dems have managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in a recent presidential election before. I realize trump had plenty of help, from russians and comey, but still…
glenn

Ad…..the right to work state constitutional amendment is now under fire across the state as employers try to snatch back hard won union benefits…more bad news but still they roll with the punches.
MurphTheSurf3

glenn – Think about it, these same farmers voted for Trump to take healthcare away, give trillions in tax money to the wealthy while making cuts for them temporary and raising tariffs that are killing them financially. These types of voters vote their fears and hatreds, not what’s in their best interests. Will this finally wakee them up? Murph knows better than I do.
AdLib 42 minutes ago
Murph–are there many union members in your state? Since ronnie broke up the air traffic controllers union, repubs have been breaking up unions all over the place. Just look at the recent events in WI with unions. And WI was a liberal state for many years.
glenn

The interesting thing about the Comey book is that he is generally very honest about his own failings and that he calls himself out. This is even more evident in the interviews during the book tour. All of it supports claims that he is an honest man even though his judgment was clouded by tendency to be a Clinton Critic.
MurphTheSurf3

Ad–I hope your legal experts are correct; trump needs to be locked up!
glenn

Great response, Murph. You explained that your decisions on who you support is based on how their actions help or harm you and others. Would be nice to ask that person if they use the same yardstick and how that applies to supporting Trump.
AdLib 40 minutes ago
Ad….you are correct…they vote their fears, their hatreds, their anger voting against others (dems) and for someone who seems to be a champion of their grievances and the wielder of vengence.
MurphTheSurf3

Glenn…..union members…..more than I realized and now that these unions can be undermined by policies that make it easy to weaken them….AND unions were the source of high tides that lifted all boats….now the tide is going out.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph – You know what the studies say about the psychology of those believing something for emotional reasons, the more they’re challenged, the more they retrench their support no matter how it is harming them. But I would guess the best you can hope for with many of them is just a decrease in enthusiasm for Trump than ever considering supporting Dems based on thei supporting the main principles that would make their lives better.
AdLib 38 minutes ago
Ad–I’m almost certain that most trump voters thought that health care would only be taken away from the “poor”, and that they thought the tax cuts would apply to them too, and they never thought about tariffs. IOW, they were very poorly informed, and as you say, just voted their hatreds. They hate immigrants and HRC. That’s all they needed. Hopefully, trump will be out of office by 2020, and sitting in a prison somewhere, but Dems need to put up a progressive and YOUNG candidate in 2020.
glenn

glenn – And that’s kind of a double-edged sword, if all Repubs can run on is howling that if Dems win control, they’ll impeach Trump…that could whip up more votes for Dems from voters who say, “Sounds good to me!”
AdLib 36 minutes ago
Ad…thanks….there is talk in the co-op of reelecting me president. No way. I am happy to be on the board and to serve as a co-op consultant but I have had enough of being a convenient leftie piñata
MurphTheSurf3

True, Ad, but haven’t the GOP thrived more by fearmongering than progressive policies?
pinkpantheroz

PPO – That gave me a shred of hope, Gorsuch voting against Trump on immigration. Getting his vote at least this once is indeed very satisfying!
AdLib 35 minutes ago
Ad personal and direct pain is about the only thing that moves true believers…but the pain needs to be significant.
MurphTheSurf3

PPO – That gave me a shred of hope, Gorsuch voting against Trump on immigration. Getting his vote at least this once is indeed very satisfying!
AdLib 34 minutes ago
Murph–Comey says he brought up HRC’s emails 11 days before the election because he didn’t want her to be an “illegitimate” president; he didn’t want the “cloud” of the email scandal over her head, and he wanted to make sure that it was fully investigated. That’s all well and good, in a twisted kind of way. However, he never said ONE word about the investigation that had already been initiated against trump, which IMO, should have been brought up too.
glenn

Glenn….which is why I fault his judgment in matters like these.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph, just stay as the thorn in their side. if they couldn’t see good within their own ranks and were too incompetent to run things….well, let em suffer!
pinkpantheroz

Ad–yes, I agree. I hope it brings Dems out of the woodwork to make sure trump is impeached. All the young people registering to vote it giving me some hope, too.
glenn

PPO…good advice….I do well as a gadfly….Socrates enshrined them as necessary for the health of horses and societies.
MurphTheSurf3

glenn – The main concern I would have for 2020 is if the Estab Dems once again try to throw the nomination to “their” candidate. That would set off a serious civil war in the Dem Party. We need an Obama-type to be the nom, someone all Dems can get behind.
AdLib 32 minutes ago
Murph–good for you…no more convenient leftie pinata. How did you get the tilde on your “n”?
glenn

Ad….with you on that…an institutionalist is NOT going to win over the disaffected.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph – All that and Greitens trying to beat back the rule of law.
AdLib 31 minutes ago
Glenn….I have a foreign language text insertion program.
MurphTheSurf3

Yeah, whoda thunk that Gorusch would follow the law? LOL!
glenn

Ad….the constitution in Mo. explicitly states that impeachment only applies to matters taking place during the time in office….and that is the foundation of Greiten’s defense.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph – Except Comey still doesn’t understand how he crossed the line wrongly in announcing the investigation reopening of Hillary’s emails in the last days of the election. He is a bit pompous and that led him to make some seriously wrong decisions.
AdLib 29 minutes ago
ISn’t Drumpf desperate bringing in giuliani as lawyer, as if Mueller will give him the time of day. His race is run and done.
pinkpantheroz

Ad–yeah, I agree. We need a young progressive. Here’s hoping the Dems want to include the young people who are registering to vote in droves. Dems still have to work to get them out to vote; not just register.
glenn

True glenn, but also have believable candidates
pinkpantheroz

glenn – Agreed but I’d add that these folks are more focused on taking away health care and support from minorities then thinking about how they’re voting to take away their own health care. Their hatreds blind them to their self-interest.
AdLib 28 minutes ago
Ad….Note the references to “in office.” Article VII of the Missouri Constitution states that “All elective executive officials of the state, and judges of the supreme court, courts of appeals and circuit courts shall be liable to impeachment for crimes, misconduct, habitual drunkenness, willful neglect of duty, corruption in office, incompetency, or any offense involving moral turpitude or oppression in office.”
MurphTheSurf3

Ad–I think Comey understands very well how he crossed that line; he just can’t admit it openly. His vanity and pomposity are getting the better of him during his book tour, IMO. However, I’ll always agree with him that trump is morally unfit to be occupying the oval office.
glenn

Murph – I think that’s affirming but agree that the position of president again would only set you up to be attacked and removed again. They may support you now when things are really bad but when Dems win Congress, they’ll go back to blaming you and Dems for everything bad. Those primarily driven by emotion are untrustworthy…you never know what emotion is coming next.
AdLib 25 minutes ago
Healthcare. I have run into an interesting wrinkle.Beginning January 1 it got a lot harder to move from hospital care to rehab. What was presumed for most patients in certain operations (like knee surgery) now must meet criteria that show that they must remain an in-patient…tough to get.Cost saving?
MurphTheSurf3

Chuck Schumer is trying to decriminalize pot at federal level! Trip, Man!
pinkpantheroz

PPO – Yes, fear is probably the most powerful weapon but when it’s abused and those who were suckered in by it see they’re betrayed, it doesn’t work that well anymore.
AdLib 25 minutes ago
PPO–C’mon, rudy is going to get the Mueller investigation wrapped up in 3-4 weeks. That’s why trump brought him in; to “pressure” Mueller, whom rudy says is his “friend”. BWAHHH
glenn

AD….you must have met my crowd! You describe them very well. I am both a liberal and an academic…..I am lucky they let me live!
MurphTheSurf3

glenn Mueller will swat G aside like a mozzie!
pinkpantheroz

PPO…Schumer is also using this as an opportunity to beat the GOP over the head with the “states’ rights agenda”
MurphTheSurf3

Murph, good for him.
pinkpantheroz

glenn – And Comey won’t address that it is FBI policy not to do anything in the last months of an election that could affect it. Nor does he accept responsibility for not waiting until he was sure there was something legit against Hillary before announcing it. He was in the wrong, he may have tipped the election to Trump out of ego. And it’s just deserts that it caused him to be fired and attacked by Trump…though I hope he helps get Trump impeached or convicted.
AdLib 22 minutes ago
If Rudy can do that, Glenn, then we need to replace Jared with him in the Middle East. BTW what happened to the kid….he is nowhere to be seen.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph–sounds as though health care is going backwards. I remember years ago when my mother-in-law had to go from the hospital to rehab, and it was really hard to find a decent place for her rehab. But she couldn’t stay in the hospital any more. It was a mess!
glenn

Ad….and oddly that anti-Clinton bias that is so clear strengthens his position as a critic of Trump…..thus the mixed review.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph, probably still trying to get Saudi to clobber Qatar, because they threw out his Real Estate cons.
pinkpantheroz

Glenn…..the fed has to pay for those fat cat tax cuts.
MurphTheSurf3

PPO….that is our WH at work!
MurphTheSurf3

Pence just announced…….. (Silence) Sessions just said……….(Zip) McConnel says – Oh who cares!
pinkpantheroz

Murph – I see what you mean about in office but what that means is that it doesn’t apply to Grietens so he could be prosecuted.
AdLib 17 minutes ago
Ad–Comey claims that it’s not FBI “policy” to not do anything in the last months of an election. He says it’s not a written policy, then he went into his excuse of the “illegitimate” presidency. And I agree that he is not accepting responsibility for his part in tipping the election to trump. It is ironic that he and trump are alike in several ways–their egos and their unwillingness to accept responsibility for their actions. Once again, though, I would believe Comey over trump any day of the week and twice on Sundays!
glenn

Well, my friends, I need to pull up my tent stakes…spring planting prep is upon me….so I am up and at it at dawn!
MurphTheSurf3

Murph – Is that a rule change Trump made to the ACA?
AdLib 16 minutes ago
Glad you dropped in, Murph! Plant well!
AdLib 15 minutes ago
Sleep well, Murph. I’m just having lunch sat Arvo! So I’ll say cheerio as well. Take care everyone, and congrats again, glenn
pinkpantheroz

Ad….as governor he has no exemption/protection from the law for things done prior to his time in office but to be impeachable it must have taken place while in office.
MurphTheSurf3

Ad….there have been many rule changes and that is one of them.
MurphTheSurf3

Night all!
MurphTheSurf3

Murph–well Rudy SAYS he can do it…he’ll probably bring up 9/11 just to sway Mueller to his “reasoning”. As for Jared, I think he’s taking a long Passover break, or something. Not to worry, though, Ivanka is “on the job” in Venezuela. (I think it’s Venezuela). Jared may be just “backing her up”.
glenn

glenn – Comey is a flat out egotistical jerk when it comes to his denials of FBI policy and hiding behind HIM ALONE validating Hillary’s presidency. I guarantee you that had she won, Trump would be calling it a sham election and no one would care at all about Comey’s claim.
AdLib 14 minutes ago
Night Murph–nice chatting with you!
glenn

Ad–yup! Not only would trump be calling it a sham, the GOP had all the impeachment papers ready to go on day one. We would’ve had multiple investigations going on in Congress.
glenn

glenn – Rudy is dirty too but I wonder if Mueller cares about chasing after him with all the worse crimes Trump and company have committed.
AdLib 12 minutes ago
Ad–I think Comey became enamored of himself when everyone started praising him. Much like trump–although trump is more needy of praise.
glenn

No kidding, Repubs would have begun impeachment against Hillary if she won. They would impeach her too but not be able to get The Senate to remove her but it would be hell anyway. It may turn out that the ony way for Dems to get back control and make things happen for the best in DC was for Trump to get elected and poiso the Repub brand.
AdLib 10 minutes ago
poison
AdLib 10 minutes ago
Ad–I think Mueller has enough on his plate with trying to untangle all of trump and company’s crimes. However, Schneiderman should be looking into Rudy, but he should wait until after the Mueller investigation wraps up, so it doesn’t look like he’s “ganging up” on trump cohorts. LOL!
glenn

Yes, while Trump is an extreme example of narcissism, Comey is guilty of the same flaw but in a less rofound way.
AdLib 9 minutes ago
profound
AdLib 9 minutes ago
Yeah, how ironic would that have been? Hillary becomes president, the house impeaches her, the Senate doesn’t imp
glenn

Yep, Schneiderman needs to be building a shadow case against ALL the guilty Trumpites.
AdLib 8 minutes ago
oops, the Senate doesn’t impeach her. Both husband and wife impeached in the House, but not in the Senate! Can you imagine the repubs’ comments?
glenn

I wouldn’t have been surprised in McConnell stonewalled a President Hillary from appointing a SCOTUS pick, claiming she may not be a legit president.
AdLib 6 minutes ago
I know I didn’t phrase that quite correctly about the impeachment proceedings, but I hope you know what I mean.
glenn

Yeah, that too. McConnell probably would’ve said she was a lame duck president because she was going to be impeached soon!
glenn

Yep, I know what you were saying, no worries.
AdLib 5 minutes ago
Okay, Ad, time for me to call it a night. We great grandmothers need our sleep so we can spoil our great grandsons!
glenn

Agreed, McConnell and Ryan would have buried Hillary in investigations and impeachment. Maybe…for the best?
AdLib 4 minutes ago
Thanks for another great discussion. Have a great week!
glenn

Sleep well and with a smile on your face new Mimi!
AdLib 4 minutes ago
glenn

Night! See you next week!
