Vox Populi, our weekly live chat about the week’s events begins tonight at 7:00pm PDT. Hope to see you then!
AdLib 4 hours ago
Evening, Ad. How are you?
glenn

Evening glenn! Doing well, and you?
AdLib 3 hours ago
Hey FD!
AdLib 3 hours ago
Hey glenn, and Ad! Que pasa?
Fuzzy Dunlop

Is trump going to destroy the VA next? Rat bastard.
Fuzzy Dunlop

So are we concerned or not about the Repubs passing the Americans Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Health Care bill?
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad–same old, same old.
glenn

i’ll be surprised if it passes in the senate.
Fuzzy Dunlop

Hey FD! There are not enough cuss words to describe how I feel about trump and republicans.
glenn

FD – This bill would hammer Vets. Especially those in nursing homes, if Medicaid is slashed, most folks in nursing homes would be kicked out.
AdLib 3 hours ago
The outcry over this is big. This was just a fuck you to the American people.
Fuzzy Dunlop

Ad–I’m concerned with Dems fighting back in the Senate. They need to filibuster this to death! Literally!
glenn

Vet’s don’t need nursing homes, Ad. At least none that I’ve ever heard of.
Fuzzy Dunlop

I think it’s DOA. If the only way Trump could get the Tea Baggers on board was to slash coverage and pre-existing conditions, they’ll never support a Senate compromise that doesn’t allow them to kill so many Americans.
AdLib 3 hours ago
if this recent nastiness doesn’t get dems and independents out to vote next year, nothing will.
Fuzzy Dunlop

glenn – Dems seem pretty unified in the Senate and House. And too many moderate Repubs to support this assault on their voters.
AdLib 3 hours ago
I think this is political suicide for any dem or repub in the senate, who votes yes. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking.
Fuzzy Dunlop

FD-you know, after hearing all of their lies, plus all of their celebrating at the fuck you to the American people, I would NOT be surprised one bit if this horrible passes in the Senate. I realize that Dems have a little bit more “push” there, but not enough to stop these bastards. Yeah, yeah, I know what all the pundits are saying; that it won’t pass the Senate, but now repubs are so happy they passed something, the momentum may continue in the Senate.
glenn

I think you’re right Ad. I certainly hope so.
Fuzzy Dunlop

FD – So if the wife of a vet needs to be in a nursing home, can she go to a VA nursing home?
AdLib 3 hours ago
So, Ad, what happened to all those so called moderates in the House, who flipped on passing this monstrosity?
glenn

Well glenn, that’s a possibility, but I think the senate will shoot this down. It’s just another big tax cut for people who absolutely don’t need one.
Fuzzy Dunlop

No Ad, I don’t think so. Just the vet.
Fuzzy Dunlop

so yeah, the wife would be left high and dry under this monsterous bill.
Fuzzy Dunlop

glenn – The CBO report will come out before The Senate votes and it will expose this bill’s horribleness. House Repubs will be crushed, they would have been before but even more now. Senate Repubs, if they get anywhere near this, will lose the Senate. They only have a 2 Senator majority, they’re scared and they should be.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad–it’s my understanding that vets’ wives are pretty much abandoned by the VA once the vet dies. I know a woman who lives in my complex whose vet husband died and she doesn’t even get his pension any more. That just blew my mind!
glenn

Damn straight, Ad!
Fuzzy Dunlop

right now I’m thinking, too bad this is not ancient Rome. Trump would meet a dismal fate.
Fuzzy Dunlop

That does suck glenn, but the VA only deals with people who have served.
Fuzzy Dunlop

FD – So in the case where a vet’s wife gets serioously ill or has dementia/Alzheimers, they would be hammered if Medicaid won’t pay for their wife to be in a nursing home. Just looking at this holistically, if the burden of paying and caring for a spouse who needs 24/7 care is put upon a vet who is coping with his own health issues…vets will be as hammered as non-vets.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad–Good, I hope they’re scared shitless, as they should be! I cannot believe how callous and cruel repubs are. As FD says, if this doesn’t cause Dems and independents, and even so called moderate republicans, to get out and vote, nothing will! I can’t believe this blatant hypocrisy of repubs on so many levels with this bill. The speed with which it was passed; no public input; no input from medical professionals; no scoring by the CBO, etc, etc. All those things they complained about in Obamacare, which weren’t true, but are in this case.
glenn

Indirectly, sure. The vets health issues would not be a financial burden, because his care is paid for by the VA.
Fuzzy Dunlop

HYpocrisy…they name is republican.
Fuzzy Dunlop

FD–I get it that the VA only deals with vets, but once the vet is retired, and is receiving his/her pension, then the spouse should be able to continue receiving the pension once the vet dies. At least for a while. My husband had small pensions from two aerospace companies, and one from the state government, and when he died, I still receive those pensions for ten years. Vets’ spouses should be at least entitled to those benefits for 10 years.
glenn

Should be, glenn, but they aren’t. That’s just the way the VA is. Most vets, by the time they reach retirement age have a civilian pension. Not all vets, but the majority.
Fuzzy Dunlop

glenn – This is how outrageous this is, the lives of ALL Americans, 340 million people (minus Congress which has exempted themselves) are at stake and The Hoouse doesn’t even do a single study or hold any debate on a plan that affects everyone and 1/6 of the economy??? Winning is everything? They hid the bill until the day of the vote! When the CBO comes back and exposes this cruelty for what it is, those Repubs who voted for it will be branded as disgusting as Pelosi said.
AdLib 2 hours ago
FD–I know what you’re saying, I just feel sorry for this woman. She basically only has SS to live on. It’s just a shame, that’s all. And, yeah, I know most vets usually get a second career after the first, but sometimes they don’t have that second job long enough to qualify for a pension.
glenn

That’s true glenn. Getting congress to change that is nearly impossible. Especially with this bunch of jackals in office.
Fuzzy Dunlop

Ad–I know. This bill just makes me want to puke, spit, hit someone, I don’t know what; it just makes me furious! The Senate should send this monstrosity back to the House, and tell them to straighten it out. Which, I know, is what most reps want them to do, (according to all the stupid pundits, at least), but these assholes in the House are really deplorable!
glenn

glenn – And when you think about how some older women were stay at home moms when they were in their prime, taking care of the vet’s family while he/she was away, how is that fair?
AdLib 2 hours ago
Hey Harleigh!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Hey Harleigh!
glenn

Hi folks!
Harleigh

Whaz up Harleigh?
Fuzzy Dunlop

Ad–exactly. That’s the case with this woman I know. As far as I know, she never had a job, so she doesn’t even qualify for SS, I don’t think.
glenn

Plus, most military wives have a difficult time finding jobs that pay much, because they move around so much, they can’t establish themselves in their careers.
glenn

Despicable excuses for human beings. And a pundit I heard said it was all about one thing in the end, Repubs noot being primaried from the right by those who would accuse them of not repealing the ACA. Putting a whole nation in danger just so they can get re-elected! We need a sweep election to wipe out the GOP!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Well at least we found the death panel out in the open on record.
Harleigh

Ad–Yup, it’s all about undoing the black man’s work.
glenn

I’ll bet the CBO report will increase the amount of uninsured due to the House bill to around 10% of Americans. 32 million at least now. How can that be anything but disastrous to Repubs in 2018?
AdLib 2 hours ago
Besides this is like the gazillioth time the house has voted to repeal the ACA only now it will still get killed in the senate and Dolt45 will have a twitterissy. LOL
Harleigh

That is, the amoount of Americans who will lose insurance. 32 million added to about 28 million currently uninsured, more than doubles it! 70 million Americans uninsured? A disaster!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad–your last question seems to be what we would think, but in the past couple of years, I’ve watched repubs lie and cheat, and do anything they damn well please, and yet continue to get elected. So, while I think the answer to your question would be that yes, indeed, it will be a disaster, I have no faith left in the American electorate.
glenn

Whoops, make that 60 million Americans uninsured!
AdLib 2 hours ago
A sad day to wake up to, folks
pinkpantheroz

Harleigh – And in the process, a majority of Americans are being activated to protest and vote against Trump and Repubs! It will be turned into a victory for Dems, not Repubs, that the House passed this madness.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Hey PPO! I’m going to say hello and good bye at the same time. I’m really tired tonight, so I’m calling it a night. Have a good evening, gents, and I hope to “see” you all next week!
glenn

Hey PPO!
AdLib 2 hours ago
hello and goodbye, glenn!
pinkpantheroz

hey Ad. Ready for Round 2 yet?
pinkpantheroz

Sorry you’re leaving already, glenn but happy you were here!
AdLib 2 hours ago
nite glenn
Harleigh

PPO – I think this may turn out to be the best thing that could have happened. The ACA is still in place but Americans are now powerfully turned against Repubs trying to change it. The pressure on Repubs in The Senate will be even more powerful than it has been and no question, enthusiasm against Trump and Repubs will be far higher than Trump voters.
AdLib 2 hours ago
yep
Harleigh

Here’s hoping. I suppose it is as has been said. Obamacare repeal has been voted on and Passed, but vetoed.
pinkpantheroz

Only 17% of Americans supported the previous version of this bill before they made it even more terrible. I think after the CBO report hits, the public will be even more lopsided against it and Repubs in the Senate will be terrified against supporting it.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Well I gots to work tomorrow. nite all.
Harleigh

I worry that Senators will follow in lockstep, because they know that GOPers will vote for a bag of cement if it is in the Republican Party
pinkpantheroz

G’night, H.
pinkpantheroz

But back then, PPO, Americans knew it couldn’t pass with Obama as President so they didn’t step up and protest.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Hey Murph!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Hi, just stopping by……Spent the evening planning our assault on our Congressman and state reps next week.
MurphTheSurf3

Small crowd tonight.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph! Still fighting on, I see!
pinkpantheroz

glenn and Harleigh were out early.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Probably good, I am t….i…..r…….e………d.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph – So are Repubs out your way believing the Repub lies about this bill or scared aboout losing their HC?
AdLib 2 hours ago
PPO…doing what we can….we are also taking part in efforts with our Senators. Blunt’s name fits him.
MurphTheSurf3

The CBO report will start the downpour of defeat on these Repubs and this insane bill.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad…..I got a call yesterday from a neighbor I helped get ACA for her and for her 27 year old son who has a chronic respiratory condition. She called to crow about the Victory. She volunteered for Trump in the campaign.
MurphTheSurf3

The poor twisted woman. She hasn’t a vlue, has she?
pinkpantheroz

clue
pinkpantheroz

Murph – So they have no clue that they will lose their HC. Kind oof what I expected, of course Trump loves the uneducated voters, they’ll happily cut their own throats.
AdLib 2 hours ago
PPO….nart a ibe,
MurphTheSurf3

Whoops. Nary a one.
MurphTheSurf3

Ad….oh, you must know her!
MurphTheSurf3

fingers on strike!
pinkpantheroz

PPO…..Yeah, I am tired.
MurphTheSurf3

It is planting time and I will be damned if I am not going to be in the Resistance.
MurphTheSurf3

You gotta admit Murph, if this nightmare defied reality and did pass, the downfall for the GOP would be enormous as the ignorant faced the reality of losing their health care.
AdLib 2 hours ago
I’m just up! Grabbing a brew back in a few
pinkpantheroz

Ad…I would hope so.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph – Unfoortunately, the ignorant need to suffer personally to understand reality. The worst thing for the GOP would be if they got what they wanted. The ignorant Trump voters who think coal jobs are coming back will likely learn what fools they’ve been by next year, as they find no new jobs opening up.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad…..I fear that you are correct.
MurphTheSurf3

Well…I am going to bail out……eyes are closing as I type. Best to you both.
MurphTheSurf3

Ad, maybe call it a night, eh?
pinkpantheroz

The huge lies that Trump and the GOP is built on can’t be sustained as their contrary policies tear them apart. The consequences will damage the lives of the poor and ignorant Trump voters more severely than many who oppose him. In CA, we have a single payer bill in committee. CA coould set itself against these disasters.e.
AdLib 2 hours ago
gnight murph
pinkpantheroz

Nite.
MurphTheSurf3

I suppose PPO, don’t blame folks from being a bit drained tonight.
AdLib 2 hours ago
cheers till next week, maybe recharged by then. Good night, ad.
pinkpantheroz

Good day too you, PPO!
AdLib 2 hours ago
