Vox Populi, our weekly live chat about the week’s events begins tonight at 7:00 PDT. Hope to see you then!
AdLib 5 hours ago
Hey PPO!
AdLib 2 hours ago
hey, Ad! just setting up

pinkpantheroz

grabbing a coffee

pinkpantheroz

Okey-doke!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Hi glenn!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Will Billo get WH Press Sec’s job now? has all the right credentials – womanizing liar and blowhard

pinkpantheroz

Maybe Billow can get a job as Trump’s 2020 campaign manager?
AdLib 2 hours ago
Can you do that job from Jail?

pinkpantheroz

They’ll have to dedicate a whole prison wing to Trump-related Repubs…Trump Guard Tower?
AdLib 2 hours ago
Squirming right now with Cas-Pense the ‘friendly’ ghost here to spread the BS

pinkpantheroz

Chaffetz may be reserving his cell already!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Good evening, Ad and PPO. Just popped in to say a quick hello; can’t stay long tonight; early game tomorrow. How are you both?

glenn

Pence looked so cute in his Halloween navy suit!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Glad you could at least pop in, glenn! Doing well, how are things your way?
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad–Billo as trump’s campaign manager is a great fit. By that time, there should be at least a thousand lawsuits pending between the two of them! Call it the 1000’s campaign!

glenn

Hi, glenn doing ok. Had my eye injection yeaterday. doing fine, as is Fergie

pinkpantheroz

Well, in a week, 100 days of Trump down, only 265 left this year!
AdLib 2 hours ago
can’t wait for Sally Yates to testify

pinkpantheroz

Glad to hear you’re doing well, PPO. Yikes, an eye injection!

glenn

Ad–same old, same old with me.

glenn

glenn – Trump and Billow could try reaching out to women…er…maybe not.
AdLib 2 hours ago
PPO – Glad the procedure went well! Hi to Fergie!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad–yeah, maybe not–or maybe the women could reach back at them–with a lead pipe or two!

glenn

PPO – Same here, Yates will destroy Pence and Trump. But…maybe that’s the day Trump tries to distract by bombing North Korea?
AdLib 2 hours ago
Hey Murph!
AdLib 2 hours ago
glenn, 6-weekly for Macular Degeneration. Not creepy after the first one

pinkpantheroz

Howdy Ad, Glenn and PPO!

MurphTheSurf3

Murph!

pinkpantheroz

PPO and Ad–well don’t we have to have some kind of military presence close to NK for trump to bomb it? Are the ships on the way to NK or NZ?

glenn

Hey Murph–how goes it?

glenn

glenn, I think they’re nearing the Panama Canal just ab out now

pinkpantheroz

What we really need to start a pool on is when the FBI will release its first indictments. How long from today do you think it will be?
AdLib 2 hours ago
So, PPO, I’m assuming the injections will lessen the macular degeneration?

glenn

May 1 for me

pinkpantheroz

PPO–yup, the Panama Canal is close enough to NK, isn’t it?

glenn

Hey Glenn…how goes it…too few hours in the day. Planting and politicking….whew!

MurphTheSurf3

glenn, they sort of hold it to where it is today. Luckily I got it early and not much deterioration

pinkpantheroz

glenn – Trump says we have an armada near South Korea right now…it’s just in Malaysia but what’s the diff?
AdLib 2 hours ago
PPO- what is the prognosis with our macular degeneration…..?

MurphTheSurf3

Murph–you are a wonder! A gentleman farmer in the truest sense!

glenn

Murph – Can you plant politics? I thought it was just used for fertilizer.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Murph. It should be kept at bay any further with 6-weekly injections.

pinkpantheroz

PPO–sometimes the status quo is a good thing!

glenn

Glenn, I do, at times, WONDER if I am insane!

MurphTheSurf3

PPO – How long is it good for, the 6 weekly shots?
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad–and just what does this armada consist of? Rowboats?

glenn

beats the alternative, glenn. and it’s only in one eye right now, so I can still drive

pinkpantheroz

PPO…amazing I do not think that treatment is available in the U.S.

MurphTheSurf3

Murph–It’s so nice to be insane; no one asks you to explain!

glenn

Murph – Any updates on how Trump voters out there are feeling about Trump…and his renewed attempt to take away their health care?
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad……there is a lot of shit being tossed about for sure.

MurphTheSurf3

glenn – It all depends. Trump spelled it, “Our Matzo”.
AdLib 2 hours ago
PPO–yup. Even though you’re driving on the “wrong” side of the road!

glenn

Trump’s reputation as a blowhard and a liar is growing…..there is an air of derision and dismissiveness. As to Mangled Health Care Part Deux that word is just getting out. The plan will go nowhere anyway….they have a government funding crisis heading their way.

MurphTheSurf3

Ad or Murph–so what’s in this new “wonderful” plan for health care?

glenn

Murph – Just wondering if any are starting to question their support of Trump or his trustworthiness.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad, 6 weekly for ever. Tried for 8 week interval, but stuff wore off after 7. back to 6 weeks

pinkpantheroz

Ad–trustworthiness and trump do not belong in the same sentence together.

glenn

PPO thanks for the lead I have book marked it.

MurphTheSurf3

brb

pinkpantheroz

Murph – And Trump is now trying to make his wall funding do or die on the budget CR. Dems are fine with letting government shutdown over a wall no one wants. Repubs are getting scared.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Glenn…basically the new plan is to basically undo the standards for plans and the requirement to cover preexisting condition using a process in which states can ask to be unbound by the stipulations. A total mess.

MurphTheSurf3

Ad–even repubs are starting to question the necessity of trump’s wall.

glenn

PPO – Got it! Glad that it’s effective!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad…I think the derision and dismissiveness are rooted in a belief that he is a liar and cannot be trusted.

MurphTheSurf3

glenn – Only when listing antonyms for “Trump”.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad…the budget director is a Trump zealot….he will drive the train off the track if it is asked of him.

MurphTheSurf3

Murph–so IOW, same old republican shit, different day. And the freedom caucus isn’t going to like it if it doesn’t completely undo Obamacare.

glenn

Glenn….the freedom caucus has joined in the efforts but the moderates are now backing away as fast as they can.

MurphTheSurf3

Murph-good that budget train needs to be driven off the tracks so repubs actually have to do some governing instead of just derailing everything.

glenn

Murph–Jesus, I just can’t keep up with these ever-shifting idealogues!

glenn

Murph – Yes, it’s a veiled repeal of protection for pre-existing conditions by reviving high risk pools that have been proven historically to jack rates so high, it is de factoo taking away health care.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Glenn….I would not mind a short shutdown and the fast retreat from the front lines.

MurphTheSurf3

Ad…high risk pools require massive support from federal government to work….this is all smoke and mirrors.

MurphTheSurf3

And the high risk pools get reduced funding year after year coompared to need so states have to cut coverage, eligibility and jack up deductables.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad…another part of the “choke national health care” that the GOP is backing.

MurphTheSurf3

Ad–that’s why, then, the freedom caucus supports it. It just brings us back to health care as it was before Obamacare. You know, “everyone” has “access” to health care. I really hate these people!

glenn

Murph – Trump is so desperate to wipe away his stench of failure over “repeal and replace”, he’s willing to back this even-worse bill that can never pass The Senate. I suppose he just wants to call it a win if it can pass The House…but Repubs in purple or lean-red districts will pay a price at the polls if they vote for it.
AdLib 2 hours ago
don’t forget Russiagate!, or the Blackmail threats to Obamacare over the Wall. He’ll probably send a gunboat up the Thames!

pinkpantheroz

Alright, gents, I’m outta here. You all take care, and I hope to stay longer next week! G’nite.

glenn

Great seeing you, even if briefly, glenn!
AdLib 2 hours ago
glenn, short but sweet. g’Night!

pinkpantheroz

glenn – Yes, the Repub meme about “supporting access to health care for all Americans” is offensive. All Americans currently have access to buying yachts too!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad….I think you are reading Trump accurately.

MurphTheSurf3

Nite Glenn

MurphTheSurf3

PPO – I think it’s just a matter of time until the FBI annoounces indictments af many Trump campaign staffers. And maybe…if they can turn some of them…Trump too. It’s pretty much unavoidable now, knowing through leaks just a fraction of what the FBI knows.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Have you seen the trouble stirring re. the Trump Inaugural Fund?

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – If Trump can be so ridiculous as to call Ossoff’s 48% success “losing”, he can call his repeal bill a success when it fails.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad I’m afraid that no one will have to guts to issue the first indictment.

pinkpantheroz

100 million donate less than half that spent on the shabby, poorly attended inaugural, and where the rest of the cash seems to be a mystery….and it looks like the donor list is full false names, amounts that do not add up and bogus fronts.

MurphTheSurf3

Murph, but will any Trump-appointed toady do what’s right and nail the cretin? I’m not holding my breath

pinkpantheroz

Murph – Yes, it’s looking like another major scandal. I understand why many people voted for Trump but as a scandal-laden, now-establishment liar who fails to come through for his base on his biggest promises, how doo you win re-election?
AdLib 2 hours ago
PPO – we will see. If it comes down to be taken down yourself or to take down the leader of the pack? And there are many more outside the admin who can press this using the courts and public opinion.

MurphTheSurf3

PPO – I don’t like Comey but knowing that his primary motivation is his own image, I don’t think he would think he could cover up all this widely known evidence of Trump-Russia ties (many Trump aides have already admitted communicating with Russia). The next FBI director, appointed by a Dem, could expose his coverup and destroy him. Comey is too egotistical to set himself up for that.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Watching Trump’s campaign speeches about swamp draining and breaking the back of pay to play is sickening.

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – Add to that the revelation that since becooming president, Trump has sold half of his many real estate hooldings to shell companies.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Murph, looking at it from 10,000 miles away is even more horrifying. I can see the USA dissolving ito a puddle of lies, greed and corruption

pinkpantheroz

Ad…precisely. Crooked.

MurphTheSurf3

PPO – I have friends in the UK who say the same thing (of course they have their troubles too). I expect that there will be two new members of the common wealth in the future. A unified Irish state and an independent Scotland

MurphTheSurf3

PPO – Comey isn’t a Trump appointee and he has a massive ego. Hard to imagine him bowing to Trump in a coverup when many intelligence agencies in the US and around the world and top Dems know the damning evidence he has.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad, well, he hasn’t too much time to get his ducks in a row. Start now!

pinkpantheroz

Comey, Ad Lib, is very conscious of his legacy…..he has gotten smeared by his handling of the Clinton server issue and now has a chance to leave that far behind….I think he will take it.

MurphTheSurf3

PPO – While Trump’s regime is so corrupt, dictitorial and dishonest, you have to balance that with The Resistance movement that has been defeating Trump and RWs like Billow. Viva La Resistance!
AdLib an hour ago
for sure, Ad! The Resistance is alive, well and working!

pinkpantheroz

PPO – The FBI has devoted a whole team to the Trump-Russia investigation, they’re working on this. And since it’s a team, Comey can’t outright coverup or lie about what their findings are, too easy to leak and destroy Comey.
AdLib an hour ago
Well, I need to sign off. I am up very early tomorrow….good weather and I am way behind in my planting efforts.

MurphTheSurf3

Ad…agree with about Comey.

MurphTheSurf3

Good luck tomorrow, Murph! WHat are you planting?
AdLib an hour ago
OK, Murph, don’t hurt your back with all that politic… er planting!

pinkpantheroz

Putting in my truck garden….veggies…of all kinds.

MurphTheSurf3

PPO…aches go with the effort I fear.

MurphTheSurf3

Nice, Murph!
AdLib an hour ago
Ad…if you recall I sell my organic produce to a restaurant wholesaler.

MurphTheSurf3

Yes, wasn’t there an issue though, conflicts going on?
AdLib an hour ago
Hey CL!
AdLib an hour ago
CL!

pinkpantheroz

Hi all – sorry to be so late. Dinner proved a challenge. Hey AdLib, PPO, Murph!

choicelady

Ad….the co-op….yes….but I can do my sales on my own.

MurphTheSurf3

CL – Never try to cook live fish.
AdLib an hour ago
Choice…ok if you are here now I shall stay for a while longer….

MurphTheSurf3

Oh wow Murph – come and gone? Glad to see you but don’t want to exhaust you!

choicelady

Murph – So you’re not part of the co-op anymore?
AdLib an hour ago
Choice….YOU refresh me!

MurphTheSurf3

AdLib – I’m no good with DEAD fish either. Sigh.

choicelady

GREAT to see you Murph – you do the same for me.

choicelady

Ad…just a member now, not a leader….and things are not going well.

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – is this an ag coop?

choicelady

CL – It’s always worth the effort though to cook a fresh meal.
AdLib an hour ago
Ad…I think a lot of the co-op drama was really about my antipathy for Trump. Now those feelings are taking roots with many others.

MurphTheSurf3

Ad- not especially THIS one. New idea. Did not go well…

choicelady

Murph – you mean others in the coop are turning on #45? Or on YOU?

choicelady

Choice, yes it is largely a ag co-op but with a pretty wide field of operation that has us interacting with a variety of endeavors in support of the farming.

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – Seems like it can only become demoralizing for Trump supporters to keep carrying his toxic water for him.
AdLib an hour ago
Ad – I have to agree. Even on Twitter a lot of his sneering fans are now seeing reality and repenting.

choicelady

CL – Sorry to hear that. Grilled cheese sandwiches are always a great backup!
AdLib an hour ago
Choice…..there was a kinda-coup late in 2016 – most of the founders, including me, stepped aside but now…our absence is being dearly felt.

MurphTheSurf3

Ad – no, we can’t eat grains, and there is NOTHING that makes a good grilled cheese without bread. Shoe leather just doesn’t cut it.

choicelady

We had a meeting last week….no agenda, no minutes, no plan- blowhards can only blow!

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – I feel over the years you live in the land of “I TOLD YOU SO”. you’d think by now people would LISTEN. But noooo.

choicelady

I remember that, Murph. Hope you haven’t lost out on revenue as a result. Nice, though, that you’re being proven right

pinkpantheroz

CL – And can you imagine how dispirited and betrayed Trump voters will feel after 2 years of Trump’s lunacy and lies? Let alone 4 years. Wonder if he will even run for re-election when the numbers come crashing down on him.
AdLib an hour ago
Ad – he has ALREADY filed for re-election 2020. He did it FIVE HOURS after the inauguration. Why? He is allowed to fund raise without any real concern.

choicelady

Choice….The Show Me State…..does not like to be shown anything that disagrees with its stubborn attachment to out of date commitments.

MurphTheSurf3

As for his lies and policy stupids, well…we all will gt hurt.

choicelady

Ad, and CL. The dismay now starting to percolate throughout the USA can be seen. Mid terms will confirm

pinkpantheroz

CL – Omelettes?
AdLib an hour ago
PPO….my revenue will be little affected but the group revenue will crash if plans are not put into motion.

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – I think I told you my grandfather was from Albany, Gentry Co. and yeah – didn’t like a thing being shown, told, whatever if it didn’t meet his biases.

choicelady

Choice…I recall that.

MurphTheSurf3

Ad – I did a kind of Kung Pao Chicken but it was badly seasoned. Better next time.

choicelady

brb

pinkpantheroz

Murph – I’m sorry for them, but…you really can’t fix stupid. You can only patch it up later and stop the bleeding.

choicelady

CL – Yes and Trump’s already held a campaign rally with fundraising for 2020…only a month into his first term! And he already boasted what his campaign motto would be, “Keep America Great Again”. Little does he know that the Reagan motto, “Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?” will easily crush him.
AdLib an hour ago

Choice:

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – my grandfather was basically the character in “Stoner” the novel about a farm boy w a college degree who goes off to teach lit. Only problem w the novel is that it made Stoner the hero, wife the awful one and in reality it was the other way around. My GF was a follower of Rose Wilder Lane who influenced Ayn Rand.

choicelady

Oh Murph – LOVE that and Betty takes NO hostages! My kinda woman!

choicelady

CL – Worth the effort though, cooking can be trial and error, you’ll have it doown next time!
AdLib an hour ago
Choice….quite the story, such characters.

MurphTheSurf3

Ad – since we went ‘paleo’ I’m more the error secured repeatedly through trial.

choicelady

CL – That is fascinating!
AdLib an hour ago
CL…I though you might like it.

MurphTheSurf3

CL – The Error Cookbook?
AdLib an hour ago
My grandmother was wonderful. I remember my GF who died when I was 3, but while I loved him, later knowledge showed him to be racist anti Semite w fascist tendencies, so. No.

choicelady

Ad – I COULD PUBLISH THAT!

choicelady

CL – It’s tough when you find out that a relative wasn’t what you thought or hoped he/she was.
AdLib an hour ago
CL – Chapter One – Burned Porterhouse.
AdLib an hour ago
I grew up after his death knowing he had good – great teacher – and bad – horrid human being. I never was under any illusions about him. But at 3 he was pretty cool. I’m glad I have those memories of him.

choicelady

Ad – chapter 1. Burned HOUSE. It’s that bad.

choicelady

CL – Chapter 2 – Seared Water
AdLib an hour ago
Ad- I USED to be a very good cook. I just can’t get into this paleo crap.

choicelady

Chapter 2 – MY MASTERPIECE!

choicelady

CL – It must’ve been enlightening too learn at a younger age that people can be complex and contradictions.
AdLib an hour ago
Chapter 3 – Water Flambe.

choicelady

Ad – it’s stood my in good stead knowing that people are rarely all one thing or another.

choicelady

Chapter 4 – Screwed-up Eggs
AdLib an hour ago
Ad – got chapter 4 DOWN.

choicelady

AD and Choice – this is like a Culinary Ping Pong Game being played by two first class cut-ups!

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – were my GF alive, he’d be a thorn in your side. Smart as anything, RW to the max.

choicelady

Murph – cut? I can cut. I have a Band Aid to prove it.

choicelady

Chapter 5 – Chicken a la Sink.
AdLib an hour ago
Ad – that was tonight’s dinner. Down the drain.

choicelady

Choice…fortunately I do not have many of that quality and ilk

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – we talking my GF type or food. I’ve totally lost the thread.

choicelady

Murph – It is getting harder to find smart Republicans lately or at least smart Republicans who don’t cloak their smarts in denial.
AdLib an hour ago
Murph – you’ve done SO MUCH for so many people, it peeves me no end they don’t listen.

choicelady

CHoice, your GF

MurphTheSurf3

CL – You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it vote in its own interests.
AdLib an hour ago
Thank you my dear Lady!

MurphTheSurf3

Ad – I used to vote regularly for a GOP woman in Buffalo who was absolutely WONDERFUL. She was in the GOP because at the time the Dems pretty much sucked w a kind of Tammany Hall mentality. But she was prochoice, non racist, wonderful. Her types no longer is allowed IN the party.

choicelady

Not surprising all those months ago, Trump bragged, “I love the uneducated!” Reminded me of WC Fields saying, “Never give a sucker and even break!”
AdLib an hour ago
CL….A RINO IF I EVER SAW ONE! That is what they would say…..

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – my hat’s off to you for all you’ve done.

choicelady

CL…Thanks….I am a small town, small town doer but every bit helps.

MurphTheSurf3

CL – It’s actually a luxury to be able to have two viable coandidates too choose between. The main reason I’d never vote Repub is that they have purged reason and reasonableness from their party.
AdLib an hour ago
sorry folks, gotta depart. See you all next week

pinkpantheroz

Back in the 60s I was in IL w Chuck Percy who supported my brother’s CO status in the draft. He was WONDERFUL. He’d be expelled, too.

choicelady

Well, I really must heed my need to recede from this fine conversation. The cock crows far too soon. Nite ALL

MurphTheSurf3

Good night PPO – lovely to see you. Sorry I was late and didn’t get a chance to talk.

choicelady

Next time, cl promise

pinkpantheroz

GOOD NIGHT Murph – stay strong for the planting!

choicelady

CL…I shall.

MurphTheSurf3

Doesn’t say everything that Trump’s plan to waste billions on a vanity wall is threatening to kick 24 million Americans off of health care and keeping those with pre-existing conditions from affording insurance? And expecting Dems to fold because only they want to save all those Americans?
AdLib an hour ago
Ad – I find that so outrageous I almost have no words other than FUCK YOU TRUMP!

choicelady

So Trump has positioned the GOP as an enemy of Americans and Dems as the protectors.
AdLib an hour ago
Ad – I’m QUITE sure he doesn’t see it that way, but you’re correct.

choicelady

Do you think Trump will actually risk a shut down over the wall? Not exactly a flatttering end to his first 100 days.
AdLib an hour ago
I do think he will. He plays brinksmanship in biz and thinks that’s his strength. He is SO not ready to be president!

choicelady

CL – But he is cynically dangling 3 million Americans over a cliff and telling Dems, “If you want to save them, you have to do what I say!”
AdLib an hour ago
Dems won’t cave because they can’t. No matter what he does, people will get screwed. They have to vote against this knowing they don’t control things and TELLING everyone that.

choicelady

CL – His childish, bully ultimatums have all failed so far, I think they will continue to because they don’t work when you’re president but so disrespected. For a threat to work, you have to believe it and proving he’s a liar, he’s undercut that.
AdLib an hour ago
VEry good points. He can’t see that what he did in a privately held company does NOT work in government. He gets bested by his OWN party.

choicelady

CL – Polls have been very clear, Repubs are in power in all branches of government, Dems won’t be blamed for Trump’s ultimatum. Especially when it’s BS, he guaranteed Mexico would pay for his wall, no one wants taxpayers to shoulder the cost.
AdLib an hour ago
I agree. He is losing all cred with his lies and temper tantrums. That’s why I like it when Dems such as Schiff are just calm and collected. They are such a counterpoint to #45!

choicelady

And Trump can’t follow through on his ultimatums without paying a heavy price. In real estate, you can always walk away from a deal but presidents can’t walk away from issues. Trump doesn’t understand that the only way he knows how to deal with others doesn’t work in the WH.
AdLib an hour ago
So many CA Dem pols have been kicking ass. Schiff, Lieu, what’s that other House Dem who’s ogften intervied?
AdLib an hour ago
often interviewed, that is.
AdLib an hour ago
I have two rules – NO Hollywood types, no business people. I have sat through Sacramento hearings with biz GOP who say stupid shit such as “well, this program never MADE money so it has to go”. WHAT??? That’s the rationale behind Meals on Wheels cuts – it doesn’t MAKE MONEY. Well it’s NOT SUPPOSED TO. That ideology is utterly wrong.

choicelady

Maxine Waters? She kicked his butt daily!

choicelady

Yes! Maxine is the baddest of the bunch! She’s having the last laugh now on O’Reilly!
AdLib an hour ago
LOVE her – and she pulls NO punches!

choicelady

When Trump’s droones trotted out his vicious “skinny budget”, they just called every social program a failure without providing any proof or studies. They don’t want them and will say anything to justify their goal of crushing the 99% to slash taxes on the wealthy.
AdLib an hour ago
Agreed – but what is sad is that the core of his supporters think those programs are exclusively for “those people” when the majority of recipients are white. They THINK Trump can refuse to support POC but keep the ‘deserving poor’ who ar, of course, white. Grrrr.

choicelady

Just WAIT until his tax plan is out and his followers discover we, the middle class and working people, are going to pay MORE while the uber rich get huge tax breaks.

choicelady

CL – So true! In fact, many of these racist Trump voters don’t think not on social programs when they are!
AdLib 43 minutes ago
I regret I have a friend who doesn’t think her existence on Medi-Cal makes her a recipient of ‘welfare’. We don’t talk much anymore. She’s not racially biased but does have a hard on against people who take supports even though she does now too.

choicelady

He attacked Hillary for being in Wall Street’s pocket then once elected, puts Wall Streeters all over the place! I keep imagining campaign ads against Trump aimed at his voters, all his lies in the campaign that they did care about being real.
AdLib 42 minutes ago
She even dislikes DISABILITY! She uses the resources. She resents others who do the same.

HRC never once voted to support WS. They WERE her constituents, and she could talk with them, but she was not in their pocket. TRUMP is the master of corrupt politics, and he’s refilled the swamp w toxic residue.

choicelady

Yes, that’s what I heard! The denial is stunning! They are just so spiteful at the stereotypes in their heads of others “taking” government money while grabbing as much as they can with both hands. Because, as you say, they are entitled to it, those “others” are just takers!
AdLib 40 minutes ago
Back to the earlier discussion – the racism of too many people is to the BONE.

choicelady

CL – That’s kind of nuts! But it’s the pull the ladder up after you mentality. When I benefit, a social program is doing what it should. Others are leaches when they benefit off of “my” program that’s only for the right people like me.
AdLib 38 minutes ago
CL – And you can’t reason with racism.
AdLib 37 minutes ago
i didn’t say earlier that I will take Warren Buffet any day of the week over Trumpeter types. He’s very principled.

choicelady

Yes – she has the “I’m in need but YOU are a fraud” mentality. I’ve known her for decades, consider her a friend, but I just CANNOT tolerate that.

choicelady

No – racism is irrational.

choicelady

Look at the wealthy scum Trump picked for his cabinet. There are CEOs who aren’t unprincipled beasts but Trump wouldn’t know them.
AdLib 36 minutes ago
I can’t see Buffet or even Gates hanging w Trump.

choicelady

She’ll never know that all the people she hates are helping preserve and protect the programs she depends on.
AdLib 35 minutes ago
Nope. It’s the worst of Wall Street that Trump has surrounded himself with. And the country, for that matter.
AdLib 35 minutes ago
The people she resents are those whom she knows. One woman has two kids on disability, and my friend doesn’t “approve”. Well I’m sure HER friend would trade places to have kids without needs!

choicelady

We really have scraped the bottom of the barrell with DT’s appointments.

choicelady

No kidding! Does she think the mom purposely had kids that could be on disibility? This is what she planned?
AdLib 33 minutes ago
I think she thinks they should scrape by without it even though SHE has Medi-Cal and Food Stamps herself. I simply cannot talk to her on this. She is liberal EXCEPT she judges other very harshly.

choicelady

CL – The only good thing is if a meteor hits the WH, it woould be a blessing for the country.
AdLib 32 minutes ago
First time EVER I totally agree with the Meteor Principle!

choicelady

Except he’d be at Mar-a-Lago…

choicelady

Could you arrange for the meteor to hit there>

choicelady

Do you think it’s how she addresses the guilt she apparently feels at being the kind of “taker” she resents?
AdLib 31 minutes ago
Better yet! Don’t want the WH damaged! The meteor needs to hit Mar-a-Lago on the weekend when Trump has his cabinet down there to watch him push the button against North Korea! Just in time!
AdLib 29 minutes ago
I don’t know. She occasionally agrees she’s too judgemental, but then later she goes back to her anger. She had a colleague whose husband was a seriously fucked up Vietnam vet on disability. When he died of lung cancer, the widow got widow’s benefits, and again my friend said, “I don’t think I approve of that”. I blew up. That woman had been his mainstay for umpteen years, and damned if she didn’t deserve ‘survivor pay’!

choicelady

And it wouldn’t break my heart if Gorsuch and Thomas were on the golf course at the time.
AdLib 28 minutes ago
I’m all for proper meteor timing.

choicelady

Agreed about the ‘collateral damage’.

choicelady

CL – Well…can someone truly be a Progressive/liberal if they lack empathy? And despise those in need like her, for being in need?
AdLib 27 minutes ago
My friend does lack empathy, and that’s what hurts.

choicelady

She’s oddly the flip of most people. She commiserates with those whom she does NOT know and judges those whom she DOES know. It’s rather odd.

choicelady

Hard to define soomeone without empathy as compassionate, a necessary trait of liberalism.
AdLib 25 minutes ago
It is – and that’s why we’ve grown apart. Drives me nuts.

choicelady

You must be one of her only friends.
AdLib 24 minutes ago
It is sad to see people so drowned in bitterness.
AdLib 24 minutes ago
She has lots of friends – mostly people NOT in need. I could give you tons of analysis that I understand but am exhausted by. She is who she is. And she has good qualities along with the bad. She’s not a totally nasty person at all. But has this one quirk. And I can’t deal w it.

choicelady

Anyway – she hates Trump so there IS that.

choicelady

She sounds complex…and a bit troubled.
AdLib 21 minutes ago
But does she support Trump’s wanting to cut social programs?
AdLib 20 minutes ago
Oh indeed! But I think she’s not all that unusual. No – she does NOT want cuts in social programs. She just wants people SHE knows to be more self reliant! go figure!

choicelady

That’s a strange way to see things, IMO.
AdLib 19 minutes ago
I can’t make sense of it. She supports social spending but judges her immediate peers harshly. It defies categorization1

choicelady

(That was an ! not a 1).

choicelady

Hoow long have you known her?
AdLib 19 minutes ago
Oh gosh – 40 years? She has made very bad choices in her life. VERY bad ones. And I think judging others is her way of compensating for her own weird life. If THEY are doing things wrong, then she’s not so bad. Makes a kind of weird logic.

choicelady

I have to say, I’ve been outraged like anyone else by those exploiting our safety net programs but I never have the thought that many people aspire to live in poverty, needing government assistance to make it through life.
AdLib 16 minutes ago
That makes a lot of sense. I know someone like that, who has poor judgement, made many bad decisions in her life but is highly judgemental and critical of just about everybody else. Makes sense.
AdLib 15 minutes ago
I do think it’s a result of guilt over poor choices they’ve made in life and they instead project that resentment on others.
AdLib 13 minutes ago
So, on a different subject, any thoughts on revisiting HOPE?
AdLib 12 minutes ago
She has a BA degree and is perfectly capable, but she was “Daddy’s little girl” and had most good things land in her lap. She had two really bad marriages, got a very good job, and then lost it due to the COMPANY’s malfeasance. But she never looked for another because either she didn’t know HOW (every job she had just also landed in her lap until now) or didn’t think she should have to. She’s terrified of rejection and failure, so she started selling things on EBay and got early Social Security. Her younger son lives with her and pays most of the rent. She does OK. I gave her a dozen opportunities she could pursue, but she had to PURSUE them and couldn’t bring herself to do it. So I just shut up and stay away.

choicelady

As for HOPE I do want to talk to the League folks – one was intrigued, the other didn’t understand it. Now with the MA law, I think we might have a shot. I’ll try to prod Kathay again once I can find if the League folks are interested. I’ve NOT given up, but it has definitely taken a back seat to dealing w the state budget and all in light of Trumpian chaos!

choicelady

Very interesting! Parents may not understand the blowback from spoiling a child. They may just want to show their love by giving and giving, never realizing how that shapes them into damaged adults.
AdLib 10 minutes ago
VERY good point, AdLib – she was spoiled and entitled but never rich or even terribly well off as an adult. It’s the pits to have champagne tastes on her beer budget though she’s NOT actually materialistic. It’s more a sense of demanding her right to her choices but not our right to our own. That said, she HAS been a good friend to me over the years. And she did NOT vote for Trump!

choicelady

I understand, very big issues hanging out there. Though if HOPE was in place by 2020, Trump’s wall-to-wall lying would really give it a great workout and hammer Trump.
AdLib 8 minutes ago
I would LOVE that! I will push it soon with the League folks. I will keep you posted. I probably should give Greg back this computer – it’s tied to the printer, and he’s still doing work stuff on it. I won’t be on next week – in Ohio for a conference – but the week after should be good. BE WELL! It’s grand to reconnect!

choicelady

I’m getting a clearer picture of her. That sense of entitlement can be a hurdle when it comes to empathy. Thinking one deserves whatever they get but others aren’t them so they don’t deserve it. And as you say, you don’t have to be wealthy to spoil a kid.
AdLib 5 minutes ago
Nope. I do love her, but she drives me bonkers. Be well, AdLib. Talk again when I’m back from Ohio? I’m gone April 26-May 2. See you after that.

choicelady

That would be wondeful! Ready, willing and able to help however I can! Yes, could’ve chatted with you all day! Will be keeping in touch! Say hi to Greg for me!
AdLib 4 minutes ago

Sounds good, safe travels!
AdLib 3 minutes ago
Absolutely!!! Hope to be up there again before too long!
