Vox Populi, our weekly live chat begins tonight at 7:00pm PDT. Hope to see you then!
AdLib 4 hours ago
Howdy!
AdLib 3 hours ago
Hey Ad. Is HRC’s VP pick O’Kaine with you?
glenn

Did you witness that Nuremberg style rally last night? Scary…very scary.
S-Man

Hey glenn! Yep, it’s fine. I knew Warren wouldn’t be picked and Hillary was just making a gesture to Bernie supporters.
AdLib 3 hours ago
S-Man – Nice to see you! Yep, had everything but goosestepping…but I might have missed that.
AdLib 3 hours ago
I was waiting for the views from outside with the torches
S-Man

Ad–I’m glad Warren will still be in the Senate to keep Hillary on her toes!
glenn

S-Man–I was waiting for the breaking glass!
glenn

Ad–we may not have had the goose-stepping, but we did have the salute from Ingraham!
glenn

Even more disgusting was the fawning done by our “Fourth Estate”
S-Man

S-Man – I checked out reviews in the papers right afterwards and it confirmed that most saw it as we did, as a prelude to burning down the Reichstag…er…SCOTUS.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Warren can accomplish much more in the Senate than as VP
S-Man

All hail Lord Trump! He can wave his hand and solve all problems! Bow down to your master!
AdLib 3 hours ago
S-Man–agreed. I like her right where she is.
glenn

Ad–and he’s even going to “protect” the LGBT community!
glenn

S-Man – Chris Matthews was snuggling up to Manafort and other Repubs about how great the night was for Repubs. Nauseating.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Papers yes but most voters get their news from TV or the accompanying websites and there was much gushing about the speech
S-Man

After the way Manafort lied they should just give him a dead mic
S-Man

S-Man – Yes, she’s not a second banana and Warren would outshine Hillary as VP. Not a natural fit and she can indeed accomplish much more in a Dem controlled Senate.
AdLib 3 hours ago
S-Man–I’m not sure I read the same websites you do, because the comments I saw, even from repub “pundits” were negative. However, I don’t watch network tv, so is that where you saw it?
glenn

That’s what I thought, too popular for VP
S-Man

glenn – Trump only promised to protect LGBTQs from foreign extremists…not domestic ones in the GOP.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Good Friday evening, Planeteers. I’m glad the breeze is coming from the west and not the east here in Ohio. Poor Cleveland is still airing out after a week of smelly hot air. And we’re not talking the burning Cuyahoga River.
kesmarn

Hey Kes–long time, no “see”. How are you?
glenn

Hey Kes! Heh, it will take a few tire fires to improve the odor that the RNC left in OH.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Yes, network…after the rally I was skipping around and only npr on PBS seemed to get it
S-Man

Good to see you, glenn! Trying to survive a heat wave here… heat index is nearly 100F!
kesmarn

Hey Kes, boiling in Philly too.
S-Man

S-Man–that’s mainly why I don’t watch the networks any more. I’m so sick of the networks not calling out repub lies.
glenn

Is it, S-Man? Try to stay cool! Hoping things are better before the convention starts.
kesmarn

Kes–oh dear! Do you think your heat wave is from all that hot air generated in Cleveland?
glenn

It’s been 115 here in LA, 111 today which we call “cool”.
AdLib 2 hours ago
I view them to see what most people will see I never expect them to actually do their jobs
S-Man

Cleveland definitely didn’t help, glenn!
kesmarn

111F In LA, AdLib??? Yikes! I feel a little less sorry for myself.
kesmarn

S-Man – I actually saw Trump’s speech broadly condemned on tv and elswhere, only the RW outlets complimented it for the most part. And now the DNC comes (to your town) with a chance to be positive against that backdrop of darkness and hatred. Hillary will get a real bounce, I doubt Trump will.
AdLib 2 hours ago
S-Man–isn’t a shame how low our expectations have become? And, now with trump, the newest low is the new normal. SMH!
glenn

At least there’s one less Roger Ailes at FOX…
kesmarn

Kes – Can you believe what a 1-2 punch it was to the GOP yesterday? Trump takes over their party and Ailes is removed from promoting it. A good day for democracy.
AdLib 2 hours ago
It was! And one other good thing is that Cleveland was so peaceful and handled things so well!
kesmarn

There are things to be hopeful about. What d’you all think of HRC’s selection of Tim Kaine for VP?
kesmarn

What I saw were some reporters on each network playing down the negatives, tell it like it is—speech should have been in German
S-Man

Not thrilled by the Kaine pick but not a big enough deal to be too bothered by it. I knew Hillary would pick a conservative Dem most likely, that’s more in keeping with her sensibilities. But compared to Trump?
AdLib 2 hours ago
I was disappointed. But at least he’s a genial conservative. Not a mean or “get off my lawn” type.
kesmarn

S-Man, yes, saw the quote from Kasparov. Pretty funny!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Kaine is OK I guess. I think she was cautioned about picking too liberal a running mate.
S-Man

Kes – Kaine’s going to be irrelevant especially if the Dems retake The Senate. So if he helps her win VA, fine. He will not however be in line as a strong candidate for Pres.
AdLib 2 hours ago
I don’t think former Bernie supporters are going to be too much persuaded by the Kaine choice. But she’ll probably pull in some GOP voters with him. He’s conservative on abortion.
kesmarn

AdLib, he definitely won’t compete with her for the spotlight either.
kesmarn

Hi, all! Kaine? Lightweight surely?
pinkpantheroz

I don’t know any Bernie supporters who will vote for tRump
S-Man

Kes – Kaine doesn’t appeal to Bernie supporters for the most part but hard to see many, other than the hysterical purists, being that bothered by it. And as you say, some Repubs may feel better about voting for the Dem ticket. Not bad, not great, it’s okay.
AdLib 2 hours ago
I’ve heard he’s smart and very likeable, so that’s good. Hey, PPO!
kesmarn

Kes–I’m reading some bernie supporters who will vote 3rd party with the pick of Kaine, and others who say…”meh”.
glenn

S-Man – Same here. I have heard of some Bernie supporters who swear they’ll never vote for Hillary and will vote Jill Stein though but such a small percentage, it will prove moot.
AdLib 2 hours ago
In my own case, glenn, I think it really doesn’t factor one way or the other.
kesmarn

Hey PPO–kaine may be a lightweight, but I think he was picked because he’s “middle of the road”–except for abortion, that is. Which may turn out to be a bigger “thing” than thought.
glenn

I like Jill Stein, but if this race is at all close, this is not the time.
kesmarn

In fact I know only a few who will vote for tRump, and yes they are nuts.
S-Man

Good point, glenn. No controvercy here, move on!
pinkpantheroz

Hey folks!
KillgoreTrout

KT!
pinkpantheroz

Hey KT–how are you doing tonight?
glenn

Hey, Homie! Are you holding up in this heat?
kesmarn

Hello all
S-Man

Hey P! Good glenn, and you?
KillgoreTrout

glenn – Those Bernie supporters howling about Kaine are just throwing childish tantrums. After watching Trump’s speech, any voter whoo won’t vote for Hillary to keep Trump out is too much of a self-centered purist.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Hey PPO!
AdLib 2 hours ago
What’s up KT?
AdLib 2 hours ago
Hey Ad!
KillgoreTrout

Catching up a bit here, but is it only me who thought the convention was a whole load of nothing?
pinkpantheroz

Any sign of huge jump in Don the Con’s ratings?
pinkpantheroz

Like a Party Rally in Nuremberg. With the salute and all
S-Man

oh P, what a freak show. Shades of Nuremberg!
KillgoreTrout

It was bizarre, PPO. I needed my sun glasses for the whiteness factor for starters.
kesmarn

For sure, S-Man and KT.
pinkpantheroz

Kes–during the last presidential election, there was a “quiz” on the a internet to see who your ideas lined up with. Mine lined up the most with Jill Stein, but I didn’t vote for her and definitely won’t this time either.
glenn

It was a real xenophobia clinic.
KillgoreTrout

Kes, I think I saw that African-American he mentioned a while back on the tarmac!
pinkpantheroz

glenn – Kaine would be VP, what can he do to impact abortion? Nothing. Main thing is defeating Trump and Kaine doesn’t represent any compromises on principles. He will be a throwback to ornamental VPs, apparently a nice and kind of bland guy. Not a big deal.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Do Trumps two sons look demonic, or is it just me?
KillgoreTrout

Did you see that photo comparison of the GOP Congressional interns and the DEM Congressional interns? The GOP photo was all white
S-Man

Ad, Jees, we’re sure going to miss Joe B!
pinkpantheroz

glenn, if it looks to be a huge blowout victory for HRC, I may feel liberated to do a conscience vote for Stein. But otherwise, the big priority is just to keep Trump from launching this dystopia vision of his.
kesmarn

Ad–I agree with you about Kaine. Just saying that some repubs may point out the “hypocrisy” in his views on abortion (not lining up with most Dems views, that is).
glenn

KT, the eldest one looks like a mafioso from the ’50s.
pinkpantheroz

PPO – My prediction is that Trump will not get much of a bump from the convention. It was a disaster, another bankruptcy for Trump.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Homie, Eric Trump looks like he could play the Nazi villain in any movie or video game. No make up required.
kesmarn

Hey Homie. Don’t do that. We need Hillary to win by a huge landslide to really embarrass the GOP.
KillgoreTrout

KT–trump’s two sons are demonic! Have you seen their hunting trophy pics? One son was holding a cut-off elephant’s tail! Talk about demonic and symbolic! The trump family has killed the elephant!
glenn

Poor Baron, he has no chance
S-Man

Put one of those black SS uniforms on him, and bingo!
KillgoreTrout

It’s a tough call, Homie. There’s a part of me that REALLY wants to make a statement about the rights of the Palestinians and about fracking…
kesmarn

Oh man, glenn. Yeah I saw that. What scumbags.
KillgoreTrout

KT, he’s more like a Brownshirt type
S-Man

glenn – Stein seems like a good and solid person and candidate. But this election is about either stopping or allowing Trump to become President, not an election where one has the luxury to make a statement with their vote.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Barron looked depressed last night, S-Man. Or maybe massively bored. Who could blame him?
kesmarn

KT, Vee Haff Vays…..
pinkpantheroz

Probably bored
S-Man

Who names their kid “Barron?”
KillgoreTrout

PPO was that Melania? 🙂
S-Man

His next one will probably be named Goldman Sachs Trump.
kesmarn

Found a publicity pic of Trump Jr:
AdLib 2 hours ago
Kes- Duke or Prince
S-Man

Kes–the only way it’s going to be a huge blowout for HRC is if EVERY Dem votes for her. You never know if it’s going to be a blowout until the polls close. I understand how you feel, but if every Dem thinks it’s going to be a huge blowout for HRC, and then votes for someone else, then it won’t be a huge blowout for HRC.
glenn

LOL! Yes!
kesmarn

In all seriousness, and not to go all Godwin on everybody, but Trump must be using some of the old Nazi propaganda tactics. I’m sure of it.
KillgoreTrout

Brilliant, AD!
pinkpantheroz

glenn, I’ll be sure to keep an eye on Nate Silver and other reliable folks for polling. No doubt.
kesmarn

He is using tactics right out of Mussolini’s playbook. Even some of the language. He even looks like Il Duce or in his case Il Douche
S-Man

KT. Typical Rally tactics. Start off slow and almost inaudible, then bit by bit speed up the delivery and volume.
pinkpantheroz

PPO – Yep, we’ve been spoiled having Obama as Pres and Joe as VP. They can’t be emulated by Hillary and Kaine, just replaced.
AdLib 2 hours ago
One thing Trump does that I think is very effective is to look right into the camera and tell the audience that he loves them. He’s done it a number of times and he can almost fake a really sincere message when he does that.
kesmarn

And the hatred and the bigotry and the rabis nationalism.
KillgoreTrout

rabid
KillgoreTrout

That’s classic Weimar Germany.
kesmarn

The only thing missing was the mad table-pounding and the constant fixing of his hair, in tRumps’s case helmet of hair
S-Man

No shit Homie.
KillgoreTrout

Kes, just as any con man will look you in the eye as he runs off with your fortune.
pinkpantheroz

Rudy Giuliani does the mad table pounding for him!
kesmarn

glenn – I think it will be an electoral blowout for Hillary. She’ll likely win PA, FL and now VA, maybe OH too. That would mean a crushing of Trump.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Exactly, PPO.
kesmarn

Have to run-taxi time for kids
S-Man

Separated at birth? You decide!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Homie, Rudy 9/11 was a raving lunatic!
KillgoreTrout

Seeya, S-Man! Have a great weekend!
AdLib 2 hours ago
A friend asked me a question today. Don’t know the answer. “Do you think any significant percentage of Trump’s voters are still persuadable to vote for anyone else?” And if so, how are they going to be persuaded?
kesmarn

Same to you and all
S-Man

Very same mannerisms, Ad. Look at some old newsreels of Mussolini!
KillgoreTrout

G’night, S-man!
kesmarn

Ad–I sure hope it’s a blowout!
glenn

here’s hoping, ad, but she has to overcome the white noise coming her way with all the attack ads about BenghaziiiiiiWhitewateremailserverbillandmonicagate!
pinkpantheroz

G’night S-Man
glenn

see ya, S-man.
pinkpantheroz

I don’t think so Homie. They’re hard core fanatics.
KillgoreTrout

Kes – Yep, the skills of a tv show host, the insincere and over the top, “I love ya!”.
AdLib 2 hours ago
I think some who are turning to Trump because they’re in dire economic circumstances might be persuaded if HRC can really sell the $15 min. wage and free college parts of the platform?
kesmarn

I’m convinced Rudy was slipped a crystal meth latte before his speech. Video of that is now linked to the definition of “Wild-Eyed Lunatic” in Merriam Webster’s online dictionary.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Those people at the convention, were enraptured. The looks on their faces just burned with fanaticism.
KillgoreTrout

Kes–that’s an excellent question. I don’t think the question is can any of trump’s supporters be persuaded, but can people who are unsatisfied with the “status quo” be persuaded that it’s the repubs who have stalled our government, and not the Dems?
glenn

Wild eyed lunatic! Perfect description. And he was lying his ass off, as well.
KillgoreTrout

Well, the ones that actually went there would be the “true believers,” no Homie? I wonder if some are still on the fence…?
kesmarn

And, also can they also be persuaded that trump can NOT do most of the things he is promising?
glenn

KT, you can whip up a mob with smoke and mirrors anytime. Get out the pitchforks, folks!
pinkpantheroz

Kes – I’d guess that pretty much all of Trump’s supporters are tribal in their thinking, Trump is the leader of their tribe against their enemies and they will follow him off a cliff no matter what he says…like the lemmings they are. You can’t change the minds of people who don’t use them.
AdLib 2 hours ago
That is key, glenn. Economic woes are all over the place in America, but who is responsible and who offers solutions — that’s what people need to figure out.
kesmarn

I don’t know. People see what they want to see in Trump. He’s like this weird, mirror that people see themselves in. All cult leaders and good con men are like that!
KillgoreTrout

I think we’re seeing the “Art of the Deal” in real time. Promise everything, such as building a wall, then keep lowering the expectations. Now, most trump supporters are saying that they knew all along that he couldn’t really build a wall, and that he won’t build a wall, but they’ll vote for him anyway, because he said he’d build a wall.
glenn

Interesting, AdLib. Thanks for the input. And Homie, that mirror analogy really is intriguing.
kesmarn

I hope the Dem Convention calmly picks apart all Don the Con’s grandiose utterances and shows them for the impossiblilities they are.
pinkpantheroz

And I hope there’s a lot of humor at the Dem Convention. Humor is SO effective against bullies!
kesmarn

This is the same guy that said he could shoot someone on main st. and people would still support him. Many were asked, and they said sure they would.
KillgoreTrout

PPO – I think the dynamics of the race are pretty cemented so all the Hillary attacks will fail. This is a referendum on Trump becoming President now and the hatred aimed at Hillary will only poison more voters against the hateful Trump. It won’t work now.
AdLib 2 hours ago
glenn, good observation, especially as Trump didn’t actually write that, either!
pinkpantheroz

Homie did you see Stewarts trumphant return to the small screen on Colbert’s show? Great! I miss that guy!
KillgoreTrout

I did, Homie! He was just wonderful!
kesmarn

PPO–Although I’d like to see trump picked apart like the chicken shit he is; I’d rather the Dem convention focus on the positives. What can we do to fix immigration? What can we do to fix our infrastructure? I hope trump’s name is never mentioned at the Dem convention, only the positives of what Dems are going to do to make America greater!
glenn

KT, the highlight of the Week! More, Jon!!
pinkpantheroz

true glenn.
pinkpantheroz

Kes – I don’t think so, Trump has already promised his drones that he’ll make them wealthy once he becomes president. Such morons who would follow and believe him won’t be affected by practical suggestioons of raising the min wage to $15.
AdLib 2 hours ago
It was great to see him in action again, P.
KillgoreTrout

KT and Kes–best line ever–“You don’t own this country, it’s not yours to take back.” I really miss him on late night tv.
glenn

glenn, I agree. I think attacking Trump at the convention might backfire. Just the way it did for the 16 guys he beat in the primary.
kesmarn

BRB
KillgoreTrout

BRB! shall we take a commercial break?
pinkpantheroz

AdLib, I think some of his supporters actually DO believe Trump is going to share his money with them as a reward for their loyalty. That is truly sad.
kesmarn

glenn – Completely agree with you, the DNC should be positive, realistic and empathetic. People should feel that their troubles are recoognized and that Dems have real plans to help them. They should be more dismissive and ridiculing of Trump and the GOP, not angry at all.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Kes–but trump doesn’t have any money to share! He’s already spent it on his campaign. However, Ivanka is trying to raise money for him by tweeting that we can buy the dress she wore for her speech! It’s only $158 at Macy’s! Get yours now!
glenn

Kes – Trump followers are likely using money they can’t afford to throw away on lottery tickets honestly thinking that this time, they might win millions. Desperate and ignorant, the perfect Trump demographic.
AdLib 2 hours ago
I saw that, glenn! Too funny! (And Trump said he wishes he’s though of scalping tickets to the convention and making a few extra bucks. I swear he would take 500 ketchup packets home from a McDonalds restaurant.)
kesmarn

Ad–not even mentioning trump by name is the best dismissal the Dems could give him. I would just like to see some positivity in our politics nowadays. Geez, I didn’t even watch trump’s speech, and I’m so depressed about the shape our country is in!
glenn

glenn – How pathetic is that? Ivanka using the RNC as a commercial for her “line”? She is a polished con woman like her dad but a bit ridiculous for her to prove it so quickly.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Figures Ivanka would assume that we all want to plagiarize her dress.
kesmarn

Ad and Kes–isn’t that against campaign rules or something? And, lots of people commenting on it read the text from the Macy’s ad, and the dress is “imported.” LOL!
glenn

Kes – Well, how about saying that he may not help defend NATOO members who are attacked if they’re not up to date on their contributions to NATO? Basically telling Putin, “Go on, invade whoever you want!” Just to extort money out of “allies”? It goes beyond cheap to psychotic over money.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Hahaha! Translation of “imported” — “Made by 9 year old slave laborers in Bengladesh.”
kesmarn

Kes –
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad–As I said before, it’s the “Art of the Deal” in real time. I’ll only help you if you do something for me, like pay me for my “protection.”
glenn

AdLib — the NATO thing sounded a little like the old “Protection” rackets. “Pay your dues or my little Pal Vlad will hurt you!”
kesmarn

glenn – Imported? How funny!!! And she was the one lying bald faced about how Trump wants to force companies to manufacture in the US!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Jinx, glenn!
kesmarn

Kes–as I’ve discovered from our many chats, you and I really do think alike!
glenn

glenn – I don’t think there’s any issue with campaign rules on self-promoting, that’s why most of the douches that ran in the GOP primary ran, to promote their books and Fox News shows.
AdLib 2 hours ago
And I consider that a compliment, glenn!
kesmarn

Ad–can you tell me how exactly you can “force” companies to manufacture in the US?
glenn

Kes–likewise!
glenn

kesmarn

Kes – Yes! “It would be too bad if Russia invaded your country. Now where’s my $10 mil?”
AdLib 2 hours ago
Trump said he has all the best words. He must have forgotten to take them with him for his acceptance speech!
KillgoreTrout

“Nice little country ya got here. It would be a shame if anyting wuz to happen to it.”
kesmarn

LOL Homie!
KillgoreTrout

glenn – Easy, you elect Trump as President. That alone will force companies to manufacture in the US again, end crime and terrorism and stop ISIS quickly.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad–okay, got it. How in the world did I miss that simple solution?
glenn

KT – Trump got a bargain on the best one syllable words, he was too cheap to buy any three syllable ones…like “principles”.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Kes – That’s it!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad–or four syllable ones, like “integrity.”
glenn

Okay my turn to take a commercial break!
glenn

Ad, and , of course, World Peace!
pinkpantheroz

I think he stole some of Hitler’s word’s from Mein Kampf!
KillgoreTrout

Well, kids. Eleven o’clock here and there are still dishes in the sink. I guess I should get to work and then crash. Have a great weekend and we’ll have a lot more fun this coming week at the Dem Convention.
kesmarn

And how about the 8 year old practice of giving insulting nicknames to his opponents and neither his supporters or the media calls him out oon that as infantile and beneath the dignity of a candidate for President?
AdLib 2 hours ago
For a price P. For a price.
KillgoreTrout

toodle pip, Kes.
pinkpantheroz

Night Kes! We should have a very good week ahead!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Later Homie!
KillgoreTrout

Ad, how’s about a Vox Pop after Hillary’s speech?
pinkpantheroz

And Pence standing beside Trump today looked like a hostage, like Christie did. So funny how Trump’s presence alone diminishes the people around him.
AdLib 2 hours ago
PPO – Yes, was planning on having a live chat during Hillary’s speech. Wasn’t sure too many would be watching Donald’s so I didn’t set it up for his speech.
AdLib 2 hours ago
He sucks all energy out of wherever he is. Remember Cruz’ speech. Went quiet after Trump appeared.
pinkpantheroz

Trump does suck indeed, PPO!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Now in the diary, ad!
pinkpantheroz

And consider how the rest of the world is shaken by what they’re seeing!
AdLib 2 hours ago
I do think that as we get closer too election day and people begin to really consider the rampant destruction to our country and the world that Trump would commit as President, more and more will vote for Hillary. I am predicting a lanslide electorally for Hillary.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Well, the rest of the world is again reeling from a terrorist attack in Munich. Note that nobody’s praising the Gov’t for keeping the US safe
pinkpantheroz

I think she’ll win the rust belt states, VA and maybe even NC along with FL, adding to the blue leaning states. Trump will be squashed flat. His act will only get more stale after 3 months more of it.
AdLib 2 hours ago
And can anyone wait until the debates???
AdLib 2 hours ago
P, theyd argue that Obama hasn’t kept us safe. But of course, W did, right?
KillgoreTrout

Ad, I think the world is beginning to let the USA know that they take a very dim view of Don the Con.
pinkpantheroz

Trump is probably soiling his depends over the mere prospect of having to debate Hillary, one on one.
KillgoreTrout

Ad–do you think trump will actually debate Hillary? I predict he’ll come up with some kind of excuse, like he did with his tax returns.
glenn

I think he’s going to have to debate her at least once, then he’ll make excuses not to do it again.
KillgoreTrout

For sure, it will be fascinating to watch the debates. I’m looking forward to all the GOP machine grinding to a rusty halt ans they finally see what they have unleashed on the world.
pinkpantheroz

KT–trump will probably send pence in to debate HIllary. After all, pence is the one in charge of all policy, isn’t he?

Trump is a fool, he won the GOP debates by just flinging insults which in the GOP, is how you win debates. He’ll bring that ignorance to a GE debate with Hillary and crash and burn despite his overconfidence. Can’t wait!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Just like Cheney and W. Republicans like figurehead presidents. Or should I say puppets?
KillgoreTrout

glenn, that’s right! Trump is only a Half-Pence on Policy.
pinkpantheroz

I would love to see Hillary not answer any of trump’s insults–just keep repeating her policy positions. Show him up for the asshole he is.
glenn

What’s he going to do, call her “Crooked Hillary,” for 90 minutes?
KillgoreTrout

glenn – I think Trump’s ego won’t allow for him to be called a coward by Hillary which should be her response if he refuses to debate her. He’ll debate at least once…then he can be called a coward after refusing to debate if he goes that route.
AdLib 2 hours ago
KT–well if that’s all you’ve got, gotta go with what got you there, isn’t it?
glenn

Hillary is a hundred times smarter and more wordly than Trump.
KillgoreTrout

KT–shite, I’m a hundred times smarter and more worldly than trump!

Hi All
MurphTheSurf3

Yeah. That’s about all Trump has. He also has the attention span of a gnat!
KillgoreTrout

Ad, hopefully the Debate moderators will curb Don’s constant interruptions and ‘Excuse Me’s”!
pinkpantheroz

Hey Murph!
glenn

So in a debate, Trump will need to wear his DePence?
AdLib 2 hours ago
Hey Murph!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad–LOL!
glenn

I had to take four showers today….one for each day of the GOP Hate-a-Palooza.
MurphTheSurf3

glenn, Bo Obama is a hundred times smarter and more worldly than Trump!
pinkpantheroz

That kinda stink is hard to get off Murph! How goes it?
KillgoreTrout

Murph–well at least you’re a “clean old man.”
glenn

PPO–ain’t that the truth?
glenn

Glenn….Hardy, Har, Har
MurphTheSurf3

KT – Yep, I’ll bet that will be his game plan. Calling her “Crooked Hillary” and other names, trying to replicate the childish insulting that he used to win GOP debates and trying to recite lies and fabrications aboout her so plentiful, she would have to spend the whole debate defending herself from the lies. I think she’ll be well prepared to parry those insults and accusations and cut him down at the knees. She is a strong debater and he is just a 5 year old bully.
AdLib an hour ago
Murph – Showers doesn’t get that kind of filth ooff, you have to remove the whole top layer of skin.
AdLib an hour ago
Anyone notice how trump yelled through the last part of his speech, but no one seemed to bat an eye about him yelling. Hillary raises her voice, and she’s “shrill.” I did see one article by the editor at TPM, entitled, “Why is this Man Yelling At Me?” in reference to trump’s speech, but not one of the “pundits” called him out for yelling.
glenn

She is simply miles above him in the intellect, experience and educational realms. She won’t fall for his playground bully antics.
KillgoreTrout

Ad….why punish myself.
MurphTheSurf3

She’s also a lawyer.
KillgoreTrout

It will be interesting to see the venues and the make up of the audience
pinkpantheroz

Did anyone catch his press conference today? More yelling, endless braggadocio, anger toward Cruz (who he dwelled on for 15 minutes), and a sidelined Pence (get used to it you Indian Mannequin)
MurphTheSurf3

glenn – Trump yelled through almost all of the speech, like a red-faced snapping turtle. I think he lost any hope of ever looking Presidential, he looks like a spoiled brat who never grew up mentally.
AdLib an hour ago
Anyone know if the debates have actually been scheduled, or if any network has “rights” to them?
glenn

No more Greek columns though. That’s a bit cliched, at this point. Like Saul Goodman’s office!
KillgoreTrout

Not yet, Murph, will check it out.
pinkpantheroz

brb
pinkpantheroz

Murph–that was just trump pivoting to being “presidential.”
glenn

Murph – Yes, mentioned it above, Pence looked as much as a hostage of Trump’s as Christie has. It’s The Trump Effect, it diminishes anyone foolish enough to stand near him on a stage. And Pence has a lot more humiliation coming his way…thank goodness!
AdLib an hour ago
Trump can’t be anybody other than what we’ve been seeing from the start.
KillgoreTrout

Ad–he looks like a spoiled brat because he IS a spoiled brat.
glenn

Trump keeps pivoting – why doesn’t that 360 turn get any praise…dishonest press.
MurphTheSurf3

well, gotta go. Take care everybody and make sure you’ve taken your calm-down tablets for the weekend. All that pent up anger is bad for you!
pinkpantheroz

Murph–Of course the press is dishonest–how else can you explain them calling out trump’s lies?
glenn

Trump is like the ring, it turns it’s owners into Gollum.

Ad……I think Pence should bring in a consultant about going Rogue…..hello, Sarah!
MurphTheSurf3

PPO–have a good week! G’nite.
glenn

Seeya PPO!!!
AdLib an hour ago
Later P!
KillgoreTrout

KT – Very funny!
AdLib an hour ago
Yeah, old Sarah just lives too far away to have been able to speak at the convention. Drats!
KillgoreTrout

Ad thanks for the debate schedule…..I want Trump cornered..
MurphTheSurf3

Nite…PPO….
MurphTheSurf3

Murph – Pence needs to call a SWAT team to rescue him from Trump’s ticket!
AdLib an hour ago
Ad–thanks for the schedule. I just knew you’d know the answer!
glenn

Nice Precious!
KillgoreTrout

What do we think of Kaine?
MurphTheSurf3

I just hope the DNC can get Erin Moran from Happy Days to speak at their convention!
AdLib an hour ago
Pence has nowhere else to go, really. Might as well make the trip to Mordor!
KillgoreTrout

Kaine is a good pick. No controversy there, and a lot of Hispanic voters like him.
KillgoreTrout

Pence won’t necessarily help in IN on top of everything else! He could have been beaten if he ran for re-election!
AdLib an hour ago
KT- Hispanics? Really. I did not know.
MurphTheSurf3

Yeah.
KillgoreTrout

I am close to IN and the GOP is breathing a sigh of relief.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph–before I came on VOX tonight, I read some good things about Kaine. Seems he has done some fighting for the “little people” in his career.
glenn

Murph – Not a big deal. Kaine will be an ornamental VP basically, wish she had picked someone who wasn’t as conservative but she wanted someone more in line with her. But if she abandons the promises to fight for Progressive issues, she’s not going to get re-elected.
AdLib an hour ago
Tell them not to count their chickens just yet Murph.
KillgoreTrout

Glenn….I like the man. Good to hear there is some substance there.
MurphTheSurf3

KT…how so.
MurphTheSurf3

She said she wants a VP who could take over at any moment.
KillgoreTrout

Murph – They’re not out of the woods yet, is the Repub replacing him in the run for Gov going to support the same things he did?
AdLib an hour ago
He’s fluent in Spanish and he worked with nuns, I believe, in Guatemala for a few years.
KillgoreTrout

KT–It was in Honduras, and he worked with Jesuits.
glenn

I think the people of Indiana are ready to join the 21st century. Well a majority of them, anyway.
KillgoreTrout

KT – Hillary has no intentioon of handing the Presidency over, just a line she used. She wanted a safe pick, someone who wouldn’t be a lightning rod and could help mellow out the ticket. And was in the same political space as her, a conservative Dem. Not an issue though as long as they respect their promises to Progressives.
AdLib an hour ago
Thanks glenn! I was close!
KillgoreTrout

Kaine Experience: aine grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, where his father had an ironworking shop. After studying economics (B.A., 1979) at the University of Missouri, he went to Harvard Law School (J.D., 1983), taking a year off to head a Jesuit technical school in Honduras. Kaine later moved to Richmond, Virginia, where he opened a legal practice specializing in housing rights for the poor and disabled. In 1984 he married Anne Holton—whose father, A. Linwood Holton, had served as governor of Virginia in 1970–74—and the couple later had three children. In 1987 Kaine also began teaching part-time at the University of Richmond School of Law.Senator, U.S. Senate, 2013–present Governor, Commonwealth of Virginia, 2006–10 Lieutenant governor, Commonwealth of Virginia, 2002–06 Mayor, Richmond, Va., 1998–2001 Councilman, City Council, Richmond, Va., 1994–98
MurphTheSurf3

KT–only reason I know is I checked his record right before I came on to VOX. I worked in Guatemala, though! Beautiful country!
glenn

She was probably going for a two-fer. If she should become too ill to work, Kaine would have to take over. She’d never voluntarily give up the office. Oh hells no.
KillgoreTrout

Very cool glenn. I bet it is.
KillgoreTrout

Hillary’s strategy is to help pick off moderate Repubs who are appalled by Trump. Kaine helps with that strategy and helps her keep a lead in VA which could make a real difference electorally, limiting Trump’s path to a very narrow and unlikely one.
AdLib an hour ago
Well, why would she voluntarily give up the office? She’s worked for 30 years for this chance! First, though, she has to win the office!
glenn

Very smart, I think. I wonder if she asked Bernie and he said no.
KillgoreTrout

She probably wouldn’t want Bernie hanging around, though.
KillgoreTrout

KT–I think Bernie would actually have been a “divisive” choice. All of his supporters would want ALL of his policies enacted, and when they didn’t get what they want; they would just pout. She really doesn’t need that.
glenn

Exactly glenn. She doesn’t want to be scolded on a regular basis!
KillgoreTrout

Alright, folks, time for me to call it a night. Looking forward to a chat during the convention next week. Take care, everyone!
glenn

She would see Bernie as a nudge!
KillgoreTrout

KT–Don’t worry, the repubs will do enough scolding to make up for Bernie’s supporters!
glenn

Right, my suggestion is that it really isn’t a thought that would cross her mind, picking a VP based on who would step in if something happened to her. She had to juggle a few things. Bringing on Warren or Sherrod would allow Repub Govs too replace them in The Senate with Repubs so she needed a VP who wouldn’t harm the Dems winning back The Senate. She wanted someone who wouldn’t bring a lot oof attacks since she’s bringing enough as it is, someone who would help her win a swing state and someone conservative enough to help her win disaffected Repubs. Kaine is a goood strategic pick for those reasons.
AdLib an hour ago
Bernie! Stop being a nudge!
KillgoreTrout

Ad…..agree…and his resume is very sound.
MurphTheSurf3

Well folks, I’m out too. Take care all.
KillgoreTrout

I don’t think she ever would have asked Bernie to be her VP, he’s not a second banana type and she’s probably angry deep down about having to fight to win the primary against him.
AdLib an hour ago
I wanted a Palin – Bachmann for jebus but these 2 are even worse!
Harleigh

Night KT!
AdLib an hour ago
Hey Harleigh!
AdLib an hour ago
Harleigh – Hey, can any ticket really be worse with Trump on it? No VP could make the Trump crap sandwich taste any worse.
AdLib an hour ago
Hey guys. I just woke up at my desk! lol I gotta work tomorrow. this week was yyuuugggeee.
Harleigh

Harleigh – Were you sleeptyping???
AdLib an hour ago
Murph – So do you think Trump has a better or worse chance to win after the RNC?
AdLib an hour ago
I never heard someone so blatantly stupid. LOL nope just kinda drifted back if you know what I mean.
Harleigh

Agreed Harleigh, Trump is really transforming the GOP into The Stupid Party…or just revealing it?
AdLib an hour ago
it’s a tell. They are that racist and stupid.
Harleigh

well I’m off to bed. later folks
Harleigh

See ya Harleigh!
AdLib an hour ago
Ad….he temporarily looks stronger but as the fact check reality hits home, as his off the cuff remarks (what he really things) take center stage, and as the dems come into the fray….the chipping away will be evident.
MurphTheSurf3

NiteHarlight.
MurphTheSurf3

So in the long run, this exposure hurts him?
AdLib an hour ago
Ad…it is just you and me….what did you think of the speaker lineup—as awful in your mind as in mine? So many family, so many hate mongers, so many who said nary a word in praise of “their man.” And yes, the exposure hurts him.
MurphTheSurf3

Friday nights have become Tammy Duckworth nights….long drive into Il. and longer coming back….so I will be late to Vox a lot.
MurphTheSurf3

I think Scott Baio really turned this election for Trump. It was pathetic and embarrassing.
AdLib an hour ago
And in the followup question with the non-right wing media, Baio and that black Rev. looked totally ridiculous promising to produce documentation in support of their statements….crickets.
MurphTheSurf3

I actually was thinking Hillary should laughingly say, “Did you see the RNC? They’re so angry, they want to put me in prison, shoot me and string me up. Really? Is that a political party or a terrorist cell?”
AdLib an hour ago
I should say, “They’re so angry this election is democratic and someone’s running against their candidate…”
AdLib an hour ago
I like your punch lines….well, time to toddle off to my salon! Best to you and yours. Let the games begin!
MurphTheSurf3

Thanks! Will have a live chat for Hillary’s speech BTW. Bye!
AdLib an hour ago
Look forward to it!
