Tonight’s Democratic debate begins at 6:00pm PST! Hope to see you here!
AdLib 11 days ago
Hey folks!
AdLib 11 days ago
Hi Ad

Nirek

BTW, the debate is on NBC, maybe on MSNBC too, not sure.
AdLib 11 days ago
How are you this evening, Nirek?
AdLib 11 days ago
Not sure I can stay up for all of it.

Nirek

Nirek, Glad you can be here for some of it.
AdLib 11 days ago
thanks, Ad

Nirek

I expect to see Hillary coming out pretty hard against Bernie.
AdLib 11 days ago
Hi, all, checking in and trying to find the debate online

pinkpantheroz

Hey Murph!
AdLib 11 days ago
What’s up PPO?
AdLib 11 days ago
Still have 2 legs, ad!

pinkpantheroz

PPO – It’s on NBC, try this link:

AdLib 11 days ago
PPO – your dedication to our Yankee politics stuns me…..I respect it, but it stuns me.

MurphTheSurf3

Here we go!
AdLib 11 days ago
will she get mean?

Nirek

thanks, Murph. comes from having married a feral Democrat!

pinkpantheroz

Nirek – My bet is that it won’t be full time but I expect part time meanness from Hillary towards Bernie.
AdLib 11 days ago
She has flipped a lot more than Bernie has.

Nirek

Ad, I think she will ping him a bit, but not too much to alienate any Bernie voters from voting for her if she gets the nod

pinkpantheroz

PPO, what time is it in Melbourne?

Nirek

coming up to 13:00 Monday Lunchtime

pinkpantheroz

Have to say, now that it’s become pretty much admitted that Hillary controlled the debate process, she is even more unlikeable due to this anti-democratic attempt to prevent the other nominees from getting national airtime. Not to mention Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
AdLib 11 days ago
i have a nephew there , a constable.

Nirek

I mean, Sunday in the middle of MLK weekend at 9:00pm EST?
AdLib 11 days ago
He’ll be warm out there today, Nirek, its 95 and climbing!

pinkpantheroz

DWS was her manager last time.

Nirek

Nirek – No kidding, Hillary has backflipped on so many policies, from single payer to gay marriage.
AdLib 11 days ago
O’Mally has no chance

Nirek

PPO – I don’t know, she’s really begun to panic, I can see her getting meaner.
AdLib 11 days ago
Lunch and a debate!
AdLib 11 days ago
Ad, I don’t thinnk she’s panicing just yet. there’s a long way to go

pinkpantheroz

True Nirek, no idea why O’Malley stays in. I guess in case Bernie and Hillary implode?
AdLib 11 days ago
PPO – We’ll see, here we go!
AdLib 11 days ago
Wonder how many people are watching?

Nirek

Sorry but Hillary just isn’t naturally authentic.
AdLib 11 days ago
Nirek – I count four I’m sure of so far!
AdLib 11 days ago
Don’t like Andrea Mitchell. She is a Repub married to the man who helped facilitate the 2008 crash.
AdLib 11 days ago
I mean all over America.

Nirek

Agree ad, Andrea is not impartial

pinkpantheroz

I don’t care for her either.

Nirek

Nirek – I know, I was just joking. I’ll bet it’s a very low number, mid to low millions.
AdLib 11 days ago
MLK holiday and Bernie mentioned him right off the bat!

Nirek

I’d kind of liked Bernie to hit the theme of inequality since he’s talking about MLK. MLK was all about fighting inequality based on race, that problem remains but now we have economic injustice piled on top of that.
AdLib 11 days ago
O’Mally born in 1960’s.

Nirek

O’Malley’s fine but lacks the charisma he’d need to be a contender.
AdLib 11 days ago
Good first question, not trying to pit them against each other.
AdLib 11 days ago
rebuilding infrastructure will create lot of jobs

Nirek

Bernie does stay on point, gotta give him that.
AdLib 11 days ago
sticks to issues well.

Nirek

Unions will help get people in the middle class.

Nirek

Hillary doesn’t come off as a “uniter” no matter how much she claims she is. She’s polarizing and and always scheming.
AdLib 11 days ago
yup

Nirek

Holt is decent

Nirek

Even so, compare the positive tone of what they would do to Repubs only saying what they would stop and reverse.
AdLib 11 days ago
Yes, I like Holt. But I don’t like Mitchell.
AdLib 11 days ago
big difference between the parties

Nirek

Massive difference.
AdLib 11 days ago
Lester, good one. For once they’re getting the candidates to actually answer the questions.

pinkpantheroz

Really Hillary? You want to talk about voting for bad things? Like going to war in Iraq? The Bankruptcy Bill that was a gift to banks and a curse to citizens? Her support for DADT?
AdLib 11 days ago
Strident, Hillary!

pinkpantheroz

Ad, it will be interesting to hear questions to her about BENGHAZI!!!!!!!!!

pinkpantheroz

Bernie is better off not going after her but I would in the way I described above. She is such a huge hypocrite.
AdLib 11 days ago
I do not like her grin

Nirek

PPO – If they’re asked, I’d guess Mitchell would probably be the one who asks them.
AdLib 11 days ago
Sounds like Hillary’s packed more of her supporters in the hall.
AdLib 11 days ago
Well, I suppose she has to talk about it, yet again, but as Bernie said before, enough about emails and Benghazi!

pinkpantheroz

she is right that blacks are jailed more than whites for same things Bernie too

Nirek

BRB

pinkpantheroz

Nirek, I’m with you on her grin.
AdLib 11 days ago
Bernie does out do her against all repubs

Nirek

Bernie countered the polling issue with minorities well.
AdLib 11 days ago
Gotta go, Dr. apt at 8 AM. See you all later.

Nirek

And let’s not forget that Hillary supported Bill’s positions on the massive increase of imprisonment of black people and other minorities.. So her new found support of criminal justice reforms are more hollow.
AdLib 11 days ago
See ya Nirek!
AdLib 11 days ago
Good job on Fed involvement on people killed when in police custody.
AdLib 11 days ago
Well done on that issue Bernie!
AdLib 11 days ago
Could not type for a long while. I signed out and back in. Now ok.

MurphTheSurf3

War on drugs question for Hillary…whose husband bears a lot of responsibility for it.
AdLib 11 days ago
Hillary’s answer to ending drug war is good.
AdLib 11 days ago
Whoops, they cut off O’Malley!
AdLib 11 days ago
That’s 30 minutes down? Seemed to go very quickly.
AdLib 11 days ago
Glad you’re back in Murph. Haven’t found what could be causing these issues for you but am still testing.
AdLib 11 days ago
PPO, you still there?
AdLib 11 days ago
That is ok. Between watching and reading along I am occupied anyway.

MurphTheSurf3

So far, not eventful.
AdLib 11 days ago
That’s good for the person with the momentum, Bernie in this case.
AdLib 11 days ago
Only item of note was Hillary’s failed attempt to ding Bernie on his votes on guns.
AdLib 11 days ago
I keep saying this….all three of them….knowledgeable, articulate, focused, fully interactive….compared to the other guys.

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – True!
AdLib 11 days ago
Hello…Adamwest – I do not think we have met before

MurphTheSurf3

Hi Adamwest!
AdLib 11 days ago
I’m new here, nice to meet you.

Adamwest5638

Welcome to The Planet!
AdLib 11 days ago
Glad to have you with us.

MurphTheSurf3

Bernie’s right, she danced around answering the question.
AdLib 11 days ago
Bernie helped write the ACA. Hard to tag him as being an enemy of it.
AdLib 11 days ago
Is Hillary’s point correct….is the Bernie program a startover which might bring down the ACA?

MurphTheSurf3

Hillary’s being so disingenuous to try and positioon Bernie as anti-Obama and anti-ACA because he wants a better system.
AdLib 11 days ago
Is Bernie’s plan even possible…..not to mention not probable…..

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – Haven’t seen the details yet but single payer does work in most developed nations so I would think so. It’s not a new thing.
AdLib 11 days ago
Single payer works in developed nations…yes but it means an entirely new health system…root and branch.

MurphTheSurf3

Hillary has no plan to cover the 25 million Americans under the ACA who don’t have insurance.
AdLib 11 days ago
O’Malley is joining Hillary in this.

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – The smart way would be to start gradually, building a system that gradually incorporates each different type of plan, starting with Medicare and working towards a Medicare for all plan as single payer. We already have a single payer system under Medicare.
AdLib 11 days ago
Hillary is saying that “If at first you don’t succeed, give up?”
AdLib 11 days ago
On single payer, that is.
AdLib 11 days ago
O’Malley isn’t getting many questions.
AdLib 11 days ago
So….I only know of one way to do that….build off of ACA…Bernie is now sounding the bell that worries me about him….letting the perfect become the enemy of the good.

MurphTheSurf3

Adam…still there….jump in if you like – all thoughts welcome….Or observe….your choice absolutely….

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – I’ll need to read his plan first but sure makes more sense for Medicare to absorb all other plans since that system’s already in place.
AdLib 11 days ago
Ad…it may make sense…but what is the road to getting it on the table. If that road allows for the dismantling of ACA then it’s a trap.

MurphTheSurf3

Personally, I don’t think anyone in either party could bring the country together. Unless maybe, if Trump or Cruz are the GOP nom and fail big time, the GOP may sideline the Tea Party and get back to collaborating.
AdLib 11 days ago
Murph – Not the way it could be done. The ACA would not be shut down first, it would be absorbed.
AdLib 11 days ago
Into a new plan.
AdLib 11 days ago
Ad….since the fulcum on which the chaos rest is almost entirely GOP….the scenario you describe has the ring of truth to it.

MurphTheSurf3

O’Malley is trying to set himself apart now as the peacemaker…and started doing so by attacking his fellow candidates?
AdLib 11 days ago
Uh oh, another video! Hope the audio works!
AdLib 11 days ago
Hey Adamwest, feel free to jump in! We’re a courteous bunch here.
AdLib 11 days ago
Ad….I would agree with your perspective as to how to move from ACA toward Single Payer but I don’t hear Sanders sounding as rational and as practical here.

MurphTheSurf3

Agreed Murph, I think Sanders needs to describe a simple and clear path from ACA to Single Payer. The gap in info allows for confusion and suspicion.
AdLib 11 days ago
And it lets others fill in the gaps with whatever claims they want to make.
AdLib 11 days ago
Adam left us….we need to rebuild our constituency here…..this forum works.

MurphTheSurf3

Yep!
AdLib 11 days ago
Hi there Kes…..

MurphTheSurf3

BRB

MurphTheSurf3

I don’t see how this debate is going to change the race. Bernie is coming out stronger, Hillary is solid, O’Malley is sensible. No game changers IMO, what do you think?
AdLib 11 days ago
Hey Kes!
AdLib 11 days ago
Hey, Murph! And kids. I’m popping in and out because my son just messaged me about the debate too! H. is doing a nice job of defending the interests of Big Insurance and others I see.

kesmarn

Kes – She’s diplomatically navigating around health care issues but avoiding admitting she wants Big Insurance to keep profiting from illness.
AdLib 11 days ago
She totally does.

kesmarn

How is Bernie’s ad so “tough”??? All other pols take money from banks and Wall Street, he’s been saying this forever!
AdLib 11 days ago
And is it just me or is this audience packed with Hillary supporters.

kesmarn

Hillary’s camp made it “tough” as a way to frame Bernie as breaking his word on attack ads.
AdLib 11 days ago
Hillary’s campaign to make Bernie anti-Obama and using that strident tone is disingenuous.
AdLib 11 days ago
I’m just loving O’Malley’s comments from the side!

kesmarn

Kes – Yes, Hillary has totally packed the audience with her supporters. I prefer when the moderators tell the audience not to respond.
AdLib 11 days ago
Kes…this is SC and Hillary has a big fan base there…..I worked to defeat her there in 2008 but that core is very strong.

MurphTheSurf3

Good for you, Murph.

kesmarn

O’malley’s best stint so far.
AdLib 11 days ago
AdLib, when Bernie made the comment about not getting speakers fees from Goldman Sachs, there were quite a number of boos from this audience. Clearly Hillary people.

kesmarn

Nailed it, O’Malley.
AdLib 11 days ago
I like O’Malley….always have….he is a contributor.

MurphTheSurf3

O’Malley looking good!

kesmarn

Can someone ask Hillary why Wall Street is giving her hundreds of thousands of dollars or millions? What do they expect to get for their money?
AdLib 11 days ago
Frankly, all three are knowledgable scrappers and that is what we need to face Trump.

MurphTheSurf3

This is Bernie’s strong suit!
AdLib 11 days ago
My son says: “Goldman never makes an investment on anything/anyone they don’t expect to make money on.”

kesmarn

Kes – Your son is right on the money…in every sense!
AdLib 11 days ago
He’s a Bernie supporter for sure.

kesmarn

Look….as long as winning requires “private” hundres of millions to billions….the monied powers are going to have power.

MurphTheSurf3

Here comes Andrea “Repub” Mitchell ridiculing Bernie.
AdLib 11 days ago
These moderators are very hostile to Bernie, imho.

kesmarn

Murph – It’s so simple. Wall Street gives money as an investment and expect a return.
AdLib 11 days ago
Murph, that’s why overturning Citizens United is so important. Bernie and doing a good job of running a campaign without big corporate backers, though.

kesmarn

That is just what it is and then they erect smoke screens via their purchased PR agents in office to hide it all.

MurphTheSurf3

Kes…overturning is going to require transformation in both parties

MurphTheSurf3

Kes — Andrea Mitchell is a RW Repub in “moderate” makeup. If you look at the list of guests she has on her shoow, it’s so clear. The farthest RW voices and rarely a Progressive.
AdLib 11 days ago
Andrea is SOOOOO obviously hostile.

MurphTheSurf3

Andrea’s interests line right up with her husband’s. Mrs. Greenspan loves the greenbacks.

kesmarn

Andrea and Peggy Noonan should do a show together- “The Faux Objective Duo”

MurphTheSurf3

That’s it, Kes!
AdLib 11 days ago
Good one Murph!
AdLib 11 days ago
I would so love to just punch Peggy Noonan in the face.

kesmarn

Oh!Malley, really, my budgets were harder than yours? Not a smart tactic.
AdLib 11 days ago
Kes…that “oh so studied” look of regretful pain that she puts on when she is about to say something SO awful and so unfair makes me want to vomit

MurphTheSurf3

O’Malley tries to separate himself from Bernie then offers a similar tax plan on the wealthy.
AdLib 11 days ago
O’Malley and Bernie seem to be on the same page on many issue. He’d make a nice Veep, but he’s so darn white and male! LOL!

kesmarn

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – She is so programmed and displays that superiority complex helplessly.
AdLib 11 days ago
Murph, Noonan’s students say that she’s drunk in many of the classes she teaches. And that OVER-articulation that goes with that look! Grrrr. Drives me nuts!

kesmarn

Kes….really…that fits!

MurphTheSurf3

Kes – Heh, yep he is one white male Pres. candidate from Central Casting.
AdLib 11 days ago
And when you really analyze what she’s (Noonan) saying — it’s a whole lotta nothing.

kesmarn

A break….real meat here.

MurphTheSurf3

O’Malley did well in that segment for the most part. And Hillary got cut off this time but not in a rude or embarrassing way.
AdLib 11 days ago
AdLib, yes! Central casting is it! And I really like the guy too.

kesmarn

Yep Kes, O’Malley is good on the issues but against the charisma of Hillary and Bernie, he has no chance.
AdLib 11 days ago
From over here, he’s not doing as badly as I thought he might.

pinkpantheroz

Kes…what she always says is that the GOP establishment is worthy of our trust and the Dems are not.

MurphTheSurf3

Sad but true. This is what a real honest-to-god political debate is though, isn’t it? Minimal lying and personal insults and lots of substance. But the gloves are off for sure.

kesmarn

Hey PPO…..O’Malley is a sharp tool……3 strong candidates.

MurphTheSurf3

As you all know, if Hillary is the nom, I will vote for her. But imagining her as President, being disingenuous and scheming throughout, one wonders what her support would be for a second term.
AdLib 11 days ago
Kes, at least we’re not getting all blood and guts fear moingering and pandering to the weak-minded

pinkpantheroz

Murph – Yep, after Watergate, Iran-Contra and lying us into war in Iraq, why wouldn’t we see them as worthy of our trust.
AdLib 11 days ago
Right, PPO! This is very “direct” but related to the real world and to real issues — not phony alarmist nonsense!

kesmarn

Ad, maybe, in this day and age, we may very well need a shifty, sly president to stick it to the nasties of the world!

pinkpantheroz

PPO – So true, it is black and white between the bigotry, fear and war mongering and lies about how horrible Obama and America are and what we’re seeing tonight. The Repub can’t win in a GE whoever it is.
AdLib 11 days ago
AdLib, she’d also be — what — almost 74 when she ran for a 2nd term (not that Bernie wouldn’t be older too) and for a woman (sorry to say it) that might be tough.

kesmarn

PPO….glad you said that……Carter was a very good man and he was dead meat in weeks after moving into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

MurphTheSurf3

Kes…in my experience women generally age much better than men….or am I wrong.

MurphTheSurf3

That’s a comforting thought, Murph. But I’m not to sure about that! LOL!

kesmarn

I think Mitchell laid down a tar trap and neither Bernie or Hillary stepped in it and now she is laying another one…witch

MurphTheSurf3

hi folks

escribacat

S’Cat…good to see you….excellent debate tonight.

MurphTheSurf3

just tuning in!

escribacat

hey, Escrib!

pinkpantheroz

Kes – Interesting point but I think it would be less of an issue if she was very well liked. My guess is that Hillary would be very low in polling whatever happened by the time a second term came around because she isn’t forthright and has no “attractive” side of her persona. She wants to show how tough she is all the time to express she can be as strong as a man, part of the reason for her war hawkishness. I would imagine her having an even more contentious relationship with Repubs and turning of Dems as well. She seems like a one termer if the Repubs put up a strong candidate against her.
AdLib 11 days ago
Hey escrib!
AdLib 11 days ago
That’s doesn’t sound like a very effective plan, Hillary — on Syria that is.

kesmarn

I agree AdLib. Hillary would likely be a one-termer. I also suspect Bernie would be too. But — what a term!

kesmarn

Hey, e’cat!!

kesmarn

How about Hillary’s No Fly zone? She wants to shoot down Russian planes? ISIS doesn’t have planes and Syria is allies with Russia.
AdLib 11 days ago
how refreshing to listen to grown-ups

escribacat

If Hillary holds to the no-fly zone in Syria, she’s leaving the door open to WWIII. It would be like the famous “red line” statement — only on steroids.

kesmarn

You said it, escrib! Our comments are mainly on the substance of issues, not slamming bigoted and delusional statements as is the case with the GOP debates.
AdLib 11 days ago
That’s true Kes, mentioned that above too. As I said, ISIS doesn’t have planes. So who is she going to shoot down? Russian planes?
AdLib 11 days ago
Why can’t Hillary moderate her speaking tone ever. It’s always so strident.
AdLib 11 days ago
Ad, I agree. Her voice is grating.

escribacat

Really interesting debate. Pity I gotta go to the Drs. Good listening everybody

pinkpantheroz

Seeya PPO!
AdLib 11 days ago
She just turns up the volume when anyone else tries to speak. Not a good quality regardless of gender!

kesmarn

Hi & Bye matie

escribacat

PPO…take care friend.

MurphTheSurf3

Hope that doc’s appt goes well, PPO!!

kesmarn

I don’t see how we can fix the ME, no matter what we do. We always seem to make it worse.

escribacat

It may seem superficial but tone matters. One can sound strong and in control, like Obama, without being so strident and loud. It does turn off people after a while and gives no handhold for people to like the personality of someone.
AdLib 11 days ago
I doubt she can control it.

escribacat

It’s just so incredibly complex isn’t it, E’cat? I’ve heard that the anti-Assad group that we initially supported is not affiliated with Al-Qaeda. Shifting alliances — constantly.

kesmarn

escrib – I think the key is, we don’t fix the ME, the wealthy and powerful nations in the ME should fix it. The less we have to rely on oil from the ME, the more we should put the responsibility on their shoulders.
AdLib 11 days ago
Obama is going to be missed…we who really pay attention know this…others will find out and be unpleasantly surprised.

MurphTheSurf3

Why can’t Hillary just talk instead of shouting?! Sorry for being redundant but it’s really getting to me.
AdLib 11 days ago
ad…the problem …the wealthy and powerful nations are at the center of the instability

MurphTheSurf3

OOps… I meant “NOW affiliated with” not “not affiliated”…

kesmarn

So true, Murph!
AdLib 11 days ago
Ad, did you watch the Bengazi hearings with Gowdy? She really was tough and stood up to those assholes beating up on her for hours. She is TOUGH

escribacat

I thought so Kes!!

escribacat

Yes. Sometimes her toughness is a real advantage.

kesmarn

I do like OMalley too

escribacat

I wish Sherrod Brown would run for pres in future

escribacat

Murph – True but they can see how they’re screwing themselves with the growth of instability as evidenced by ISIS. Not even Al Qaeda wants ISIS to exist.
AdLib 11 days ago
Each and every one of these folks is better than anyone on GOP panel.

MurphTheSurf3

e’cat — Sherrod is just wonderful!

kesmarn

kes, he was great during the ACA saga.

escribacat

I’m glad Bernie is re-visiting the issue of internet privacy. They were about to slide right past that.

kesmarn

Escrib and Kes – I do think Hillary was a champ at the Benghazi hearings, her toughness was used for the best then. But speaking to Americans? Don’t yell at them all the time, not a great idea.
AdLib 11 days ago
I like Sherrod too, was disappointed when he announced early on that he wouldn’t run. He’d be drawing from Bernie’s supporters though.
AdLib 11 days ago
Yes — to a lot of people it pushed the old “angry mommy” button and that is SO counter-productive. I detested Margaret Thatcher but at least she was not a “yeller.”

kesmarn

Did anyone else just see a commercial for a George Clooney movie about an angry Wall Street victim with a bomb? Looks kind of intriguing. They knew when to advertise for that one!

kesmarn

Yep Kes, it plays into the unpleasant stereotype that women candidates are too often unfairly tagged with. No woman candidate wants to be tagged as “shrill” or “nagging” but when the only tone of voice you use in speaking to the American People is a strident yell, it’s a problem.
AdLib 11 days ago
O’Malley. You’re kinda cute.

kesmarn

Kes – Yes, saw the ad, does look interesting.
AdLib 11 days ago
Right on the vocal stridor, AdLib. It’s as annoying as Trump’s bragging or Cruz’s whining.

kesmarn

I guess the candidates know that there is a lot of anger in the voters so they want to reflect and connect to that. Hence, the constant yelling?
AdLib 11 days ago
They don’t seem to be giving O’Malley much time at all tonight. While it seems that Hillary gets a LOT!

kesmarn

Bernie is just talking now, not yelling. O’Malley hasn’t been yelling. Let’s see if Hillary follows their lead.
AdLib 11 days ago
Hillary may have been one of those people who has been interrupted so many times in the past that she developed the vocal “10” button to overcome that?

kesmarn

Yep! Hillary is now talking and not yelling. Why am I harping on this, because if Hillary is the candidate, I don’t want to see her chasing away voters by yelling at them.
AdLib 11 days ago
You mightneed to get an ear muff, Adlib

escribacat

Good point, Kes.
AdLib 11 days ago
They’re more than ready to portray her and the loudmouth bitch as it is. She shouldn’t feed into that.

kesmarn

escrib – You know what to get me for next Christmas next year!
AdLib 11 days ago
I was just going to look for one for ya!!

Bernie’s last point…..missed the mark with most.

MurphTheSurf3

Good for bringing it back to the issues with Andrea, Bernie!

kesmarn

Bernie scores points for smacking down Mitchell!
AdLib 11 days ago
Yes!

kesmarn

Good job, Bernie

Andrea handed her lunch

MurphTheSurf3

I’m still in a quandary about Bernie. I like him better than Hillary, agree with him more often than Hillary but still mad at him for crapping on Obama too much.

escribacat

Rachel Maddow has done the best job as moderator on either/both sides so far, I think.

kesmarn

Mitchell is an awful, awful person. What kind of “reporter” would marry such a horrible human being as Greenspan, who greedily ruined the lives of most Americans to support his wealthy Wall Street friends? And the Bush admin.
AdLib 11 days ago
Gossip — but was anyone else floored when Murdoch married Jerry Hall? YUCK

escribacat

e’cat, I think Bernie would do well to give props to Obama for all the things he has done RIGHT. It would be just a good, pragmatic strategy. I don’t know why he doesn’t.

kesmarn

e’cat, I’ve seen that referred to as “Jerry and the Pacemaker.”

kesmarn

I agree, kes. That might get me to warm up toward him. He really did go after Obama quite often.

escribacat

Kes

Ad….I have written to both NBC and MSNBC to say that any program with her as a host or featuring is one I will not watch as I presume there will conflicts of interest baked right into them.

MurphTheSurf3

Conflicts of interest for sure. Same with those Diaz-Balart guys. GOP all the way.

kesmarn

escrib – I understand, I was very critical of Bernie in the past when he was dissing Obama but after seeing how throughout the campaign, he has thrown all that criticism away and has been supportive of Obama, I’ve put that aside. Hillary was horrible to Obama in 2008 but after she and Bill campaigned for him and she served as SoS, I forgave her as well. Both have been anti-Obama at one point or another but neither seem to be now.
AdLib 11 days ago
Not that Obama shouldn’t ever be criticized, but so much of what happened was beyond his control, in my opinion.

escribacat

Kes – I have heard Bernie give many props to Obama.
AdLib 11 days ago
Also I can’t see Bernie getting anywhere unless congress changes to dem. It’ll be a complete standstill.

escribacat

Of course, it’ll be the same with Hillary

escribacat

Murph – That’s a great idea, I’ll do that too!
AdLib 11 days ago
E’cat, my sister raised that point tonight about congress. And I gave the same answer — that Hillary wouldn’t fare any better with a GOP congress than Bernie.

kesmarn

…which means it doesn’t really matter what either of them says???

escribacat

Smart move on her part to bring up Flint, MI. I’ll give her props for that.

kesmarn

The Flint story really is hard to swallow (no pun intended)

escribacat

Hillary outraged for a very good reason…glad she is pushing this on national TV…Snyder either should be putting folks on the line for the firing squad or join it himself…

MurphTheSurf3

escrib – My concern is that Hillary might triangulate with Repubs in Congress and sign bills that aren’t so good for us. That’s an argument for supporting Bernie too.
AdLib 11 days ago
Well, I think it still matters what they say, e’cat. But our expectations of what they can DO… well, congress does affect those.

kesmarn

True Kes, Flint is a disaster of Republican, anti-democratic and anti-government policies.
AdLib 11 days ago
O’Malley seemed to slip into “Rubio mode” in his final statement, unfortunately. It sounded “canned.”

kesmarn

Chuck Todd….oh my God! Another wolf in reporter clothing.

MurphTheSurf3

Now that is what I call a civilized, thoughtful and smart debate. No big lies, no fear mongering, no bigotry…Repubs would be bored.
AdLib 11 days ago
talking heads: o goodie, got fireworks!

escribacat

With that…I am going to fold laundry…..and head to bed…….my life is soooooooo exciting.

MurphTheSurf3

The Flint situation is awful. And yet the GOP is spinning it as a “see?-this-is-why-we-can’t-trust-government-to-do-anything” statement. “Privatize water systems” is the answer.

kesmarn

night murph

escribacat

Kes…..good nit

MurphTheSurf3

G’night, Murph! Don’t let that laundry get you too excited there!

S’Cat, goodn night

MurphTheSurf3

Ad…good night….

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – Exactly, Todd tooo can be obviously shown to be a GOP tool by his list of guests on his show. He has had some of the most awful, disreputable Repubs as “experts” and rarely any Progressives. He gleefully proclaimed that the soldiers held by Iran on the night of the SOTU would seriously harm Obama and Dems, he’s always quick to call a Dem disaster at the drop of a feather. Ignorant and a fraud.
AdLib 11 days ago
Night Murph!
AdLib 11 days ago
Thanks one and all with special praise to Ad for organizing and hosting.

MurphTheSurf3

Yes, it was three times this week!

escribacat

Thanks Ad. I look forward to these “events”.

My pleasure Murph, thanks for joining in!
AdLib 11 days ago
Ad….you nailed Todd to the ground….metaphorically…..but one can dream….

Good analysis of Chuck Toad, AdLib.

kesmarn

escrib – Great to see you here!
AdLib 11 days ago
Toad indeed, Kes!
AdLib 11 days ago
When is the Washington state primary? I guess I’ve got until then to make up my mind.

escribacat

kesmarn

Todd will probably try to twist the results of the debate as hurting Bernie.
AdLib 11 days ago
May 24. I’ve got plenty of time. A lot will happen before then.

escribacat

I’m not sure, e’cat. Ohio’s is — I think — March 15. I have a meeting on the 27th of this month for poll worker education.

kesmarn

You have time, e’cat!

kesmarn

By May, the primary may already be decided. Don’t understand why CA is so late in the process.
AdLib 11 days ago
Ad, it’s always been the tail end out here in the west. Like an after thought. I remember when elections were called and the polls were still open in California, when I lived in SF.

escribacat

Very annoying!

escribacat

We don’t vote in CA until June!
AdLib 11 days ago
Well, I’d better get a few last little tasks done around the mansion tonight too, kids. Have a great week and I hope you’ll be warmer than we are here! (Below zero wind chills.)

kesmarn

Brrrr. It’s just soggy here in Wash.

escribacat

Night everyone.

kesmarn

Very cold here in Mo….happy for it…..as afarmer

MurphTheSurf3

Exactly, Escrib. Why does the West keep going along with this?
AdLib 11 days ago
Night Kes!
AdLib 11 days ago
Wishing all a great MLK Day tomorrow!
AdLib 11 days ago
Murph – Cool here in LA but not as freezing as it was previously.
AdLib 11 days ago
I need the cold to kill the insect eggs, the fungi, and the mold.

MurphTheSurf3

Aha! That’s the secret!
AdLib 11 days ago
So it’s a good thing!
AdLib 11 days ago
Which is why farmers fear climate change if they are wise.

MurphTheSurf3

Too many crickets around the house this year, still have many but hope the colder weather reduces them.
AdLib 11 days ago
On that note….brrrrrrr is gooood

MurphTheSurf3

Farmers who are Repubs don’t believe there’s anything to fear. Except ISIS!
