What a week, between the Repubs in IN and AR crying over spilt bigotry and Repubs across the country crying over spilt war with Iran, the drought could be ended in CA if all those tears could be piped out here. So much to chat about tonight on Vox Populi, hope to see you here at 7pm PDT when Vox begins!

pinkpantheroz

Can you believe the Repubs are trying to diss an agreement that strips down Iran’s program so much? Well, I suppose it’s no surprise but they’re openly offering the only alternative they see, bombing Iran. No way they can win the 2016 election, Americans don’t want to bomb Iran, even if our Republican President Netanyahu says we must.

A bagger on the other side of my subdivision lit a match in his bathroom and blew his house right off the wheels!

Good point, ppo, though it wasn’t part of his agenda. Just facing off against them has exposed them.

I just love the job of Crazy Traitor Tom Cotton taking AIPAC letters to go to Iran to promote nukular war. Spectacular!
Harleigh

So was there anything sweeter this week than the Fundies and I assume ALEC’s cross-state attempt to legaloze bigotry against LGBT turning 180 degrees against them into barring businesses from discrimintaing against them? It’s almost too ridiculous to believe!
adlib 7 days ago
Beatlex…..are you here? If so, how is the Iran Framework Agreement being perceived in West Canada?
murphthesurf3

PPO….How is the Iran Framework Agreement being perceived in the Land of Oz?
murphthesurf3

Ad, that is priceless. Seeing the ‘candidates’ hopping on to the bandwagon, then scrambling to get off, was worth it!
pinkpantheroz

Harleigh, my fellow red stater, how is the Iran Framework Agreement being perceived in the Sunshine State?
murphthesurf3

Beatlex – Heh! Jebby screwed himself, he’s on the record approving it and flip-flopping a couple of days later won’t wipe that away when campaign season comes around. It’s just the beginning of Jebby as “Mitt 2 – The Bullshitting”.
adlib 7 days ago
Murph,I can’t speak for the rednecks,I think it is great, like the President says,What is the alternative?
Beatlex

Murph, they’re delighted here. Don’t forget we also have troops in the fight, so a peaceful resolution is most welcome
pinkpantheroz

Ad LIb…..looking from your very dry spot, how is the Iran Framework Agreement being perceived in the Great American Desert?
murphthesurf3

Well the baggers hate peace but the Jews seem to lean toward not getting Israel nuked.
Harleigh

ppo – So true, the only agenda of the Repubs is their out-of-power agenda, hate everything Obama does. They’re in power now and responding to everything this way shows the would be Emperors have no clothes.
adlib 7 days ago
Why do so few bring up this issue: Israel if a Nuclear Weapon Power and cannot be regulated because they did not sign the Nuclear Non Profliferation Treaty….which Iran did (under the Shah) and has not reneged on.
murphthesurf3

Harleigh, Israel conveniently forgets that they already are nuclear. They won’t hesitate to level Iran on their own if Iran launches, MAD will apply, and I don’t think the Iranians are fanatical enough to do that.
pinkpantheroz

2 rogue nuke powers, NK and Israel.
Harleigh

Harleigh! Jinx! Great minds thinking alike.
murphthesurf3

Murph – We may be dry but so are our martinis! Most folks out here that I know are very pleased with the Iran deal, avoiding war and restricting them with concrete controls from getting a nuke, maybe even rebuilding our rep and relationships in the ME, a real winner.
adlib 7 days ago
PPO, Jinx, great minds very much on the same page…..

murphthesurf3

Ad, that’s the more reasonable view. I think Iran is slowly backing out of the terrorist business and embracing the more modern world. Don’t forget there are many young Iraians who are well educated and want to do business
pinkpantheroz

Beatlex and PPO – You both point out the reason that Netanyahu and Likud are frauds and liars. They know their possession of nukes prevents Iran from attacking them, they’re complete charlatans, they don’t believe any of the fear mongering they use for propaganda to keep power in Israel.
adlib 7 days ago
This Iran situation is REALLY serious stuff. And the R’s are making it partisan. This coupled with the war on gays will sink them in 2016. I truly hope!

kesmarn

At least they are only targeting, killing and stealing from heathen Muslims to preventWe all heard Bobo’s speeches and from Israel’s Mr. Spybassador. They are liars. It is way past time for AIPAC to be registered as a foreign lobby and to curtail all monetary and military aid to that warmongering theocratic country/race/religion called Israel. That money could be much better spent on our own people and infrastructure here in whats left of merika. Israel is a bigoted, offensive, apartheid country and should no longer receive anything from the US except our contempt and condemnation. No more knee-jerk shielding at the UN for their war crimes either! a 2 state solution, right? Israeli Prime Minister Bobo Naziyahu is just another war criminal and his Lukid party in Israel sucks just like the baggers here in merika. Naziyahu has been saying that Iran is a year from having a nuke for 25 YEARS now! Either they now have dozens of nukes or Bobo has been lying all this time.

kesmarn

Point to ponder. Does this agreement give Kerry a platform to challenge for the Whit House?

kesmarn

Hey, Sabreen
pinkpantheroz

Harleigh – Agreed, Netanyahu is a blatant liar and propagandist and he and Likud have turned Israel into an oppressive, war mongering regime. I’m really tired of hearing how we have so much in common with Israel, not the country it is nowadays. America doesn’t use its national government’s powers to oppress and cause the suffering of nearly 4 million people because of their nationality/religion. And America isn’t, at least nowadys, a bloodthirsty war monger like the Likud have made Israel into. The only similarities are between RW Republicans and Likud, as countries we display far different values when it comes to human rights and peace.
adlib 7 days ago
Hey, Sabreen! And their leader, Bibi Netanyahu’s head is popping right along with the GOP’s!

Aslan said that prolonged negotiations about the 2 state thing are “insidious” (his word) because they waste time and give people false hope. I was sorta surprised by how blunt he was on that issue.
kesmarn

ppo – What do you mean about Kerry challenging the WH?
adlib 7 days ago
Harleigh….there are several Israels….the one that opposes Netan’s approach is just not strong enough to topple him and his right wing coalition. Tepid U.S. support will weaken him as it should.
murphthesurf3

I think PPO is on a smoke break at the moment, AdLib.
kesmarn

Beatlex

Harleigh – Have to disagree with you, don’t forget that Likud may have won the election but only by a small percentage. The rest of Israelis, almost half, want peace and a two state solution.
adlib 7 days ago
OMG, Sabreen! What planet are they on? No foreign policy legacy? Unbelievable.
kesmarn

Good point, Beatlex. Although — am I right on this? — it can go through even without congressional approval?

adlib we have heard the Israeli bullshit for 66 years now. They will never want peace.
Harleigh

BRB…
adlib 7 days ago
I think there’s a fairly large segment of the Israeli population that want peace — but the problem is — how to get get someone elected that represents that view? Maybe if Boehner would resign as Bibi’s campaign manager, they’d have a fighting chance.
kesmarn

kes, my jaw hit the floor. But Twitter is awesome. As far as I’m concerned it was yellow journalism. But the article was definitely not the norm. The majority of what I read was prasie for PBO and Kerry.

kesmarn,I think if they have the votes to override his veto, assuming they pass some kind of bill to stop him

sabreen60

I think anyone would have to be drunk to get sentimental over Bibi, Sabreen!

This is a great article – when you get a chance:

Breakthrough on Iran: President Obama Defies Odds, Defines the True Audacity of Hope
This morning, guidelines of a deal to defuse the Iranian nuclear threat that is the result of an improbably journey this president and his administration embarked on to give peace a chance (and not just lip service) emerged. The framework has left critics relying on rhetoric as they have found little to fault with in the framework itself, and the world (mostly) pleasantly surprised at the result of President Obama’s global leadership and diplomatic triump. The agreement is, in a word, airtight. See how.

Here is Mo……The Missouri GOP chairman has been in the news a lot lately, most notably after reports surfaced that he had mounted an anti-Semitic whisper campaign that led to the suicide of Missouri Auditor (and gubernatorial candidate) Tom Schweich. Despite calls for his resignation within his own party, Hancock did not resign then. And he didn’t resign earlier this week, when Schweich’s spokesman, Spence Jackson, also committed suicide. Yesterday, Hancock appeared on a news show on KMOX in St. Louis and gave his opinion about Indiana’s recent Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which gives businesses the right to discriminate against gays and lesbians. The law caused national uproar this week, drawing criticism from the NCAA, Wal-Mart and Apple. The governor of Indiana, Mike Pence, has since amended the law. Hancock told KMOX he is behind RFRA all the way. Asked if he’d support similar legislation in Missouri, he said, “We already have it. It passed in 2003.” (That’s not really true.) “This [opposition to RFRA] is just so wrong if you just stop to think about it,” Hancock said. “We should not be empowering government to compel us to do things that violate our conscience.”

Mike Huckabee was spotted shilling some very dubious treatments in an online infomercial

To bring things back to a more ( snigger) serious tone, HP has a thing about Bob (give me money) Menendez. Does his indictment spell trouble for Citizens United? “Justice Anthony Kennedy declared in the 5-4 majority opinion that corporations should be free to spend unlimited sums on independent political activities since “independent expenditures, including those made by corporations, do not give rise to corruption or the appearance of corruption.” Those making independent expenditures “may have influence over or access to elected officials,” but that “does not mean those officials are corrupt,” Kennedy wrote. The Department of Justice begs to differ. Menendez’s indictment on Wednesday specifically ties two $300,000 contributions from Dr. Salomon Melgen’s Vitreo-Retinal Consultants to an officially independent super PAC — donations that were earmarked for Menendez’s 2012 re-election effort — to actions that the senator took on behalf of Melgen’s business interests.”

murphthesurf3

Murph – You’re talking about attempting to get people involved who have never been involved. Many have never been taught the need to be political and some just don’t believe it’ll do any good. There has been a failure on the part of my generation, IMO, to teach the young about many things – one being to have a say in your own destiny on the local level.
sabreen60

Good night Harleigh!
sabreen60

Sab, I agree, but what is so often unnamed is the corruption within the black leadership community. The ministers are generally the exception but they no longer have the influence they once had.
murphthesurf3

Oh corruption? Well, it doesn’t matter on what level we’re talking about. From the White House (Nixon, Bush) down to the dog catcher. Yeah, corruption is a problem. I think unless the majority can be made to see how harmful it is there’s not much that can be done.
sabreen60

Muph – I seen corruption up close and personal. From community based organiztions, to the church to the Masjid. However, there are always good people doing good work. But you do have to be fortified. Two steps foward, one step back.
sabreen60

Sab, I am more narrowly focused. I have been disgusted and ashamed when considering how clearly self serving so many within the black community who claim leadership are. I have been angered at how ignorance hobbles the rank and file. This is ALL in opposition to the work of King and Abernathy in particular. Selfless leadership, education, effective tactics, a clear strategy.
murphthesurf3

Murph – Every heard the term poverty pimps? Now I don’t mean it the way RWNJs do. But there are those who are in it for themselves. No doubt about it. But I think you will find the same thing if you tried to organize in Appalachia. Look at how they vote against their own interest. As you know this is not easy work. That’s why I knew it was so ludicrous to denigrate President Obama for bein a community organizer on the Southside of Chicago. Also why I knew he is fearless.
sabreen60

Murph – People who organize know how tough it is. And it’s not for everyone. Hell, I am not even organizing and I feel like smacking the taste of the mouths of some folks in my own family. I know I can’t do that work any more. Too old and very little patience.
sabreen60

I have and have experienced them but there used to be a strong counter within the community. That counter force is largely missing today. I have seen the ministerial organization sidelined by those who grandstand.
murphthesurf3

But Murph – you can only do so much. Sometimes people who grandstand are shown for what they are. We have some on the national stage like Cornel West and I’m not saying that because he hates PBO. I just know he hasn’t done anything for poor people in at least 35 years I’ve know about him.
sabreen60

But you’ll decide what’s best for you. Sometimes you can work around negative folks – sometimes not. But with that I’m going to say Good Night. You’ll do what’s best.
sabreen60

Cornel is a good example, or rather a bad good example.
