Don’t forget to say “hi” or “Warren 2016” when you arrive.
adlib 6 days ago
hi there!

Clinton 2016!
pinkpantheroz

Warren/Sanders 2016?
kesmarn

Hey, Kes! Are you oout west with the bad weather?
pinkpantheroz

Hey, PPO! Fortunately this time the tornadoes are skipping us here in Ohio and heading for Los Angeles — so far so good!
kesmarn

Oh, Ohio, OK. smiley

adlib 6 days ago
Hey, glenn! How’s every thing in GA these days?
kesmarn

Hey AdLib! Did you get the winds and the heavy rain?
kesmarn

So who will Clinton or Warren be running against? Jeb? Walker? Or even everyone’s perennial favorite–the mittster!

It’s 59 here in ft lauderdale. I hate winter weather! It will be in the 70’s tomorrow.
Harleigh

kes, it looks like it is duplicatingg
pinkpantheroz

Harl… you’re making us all jealous and green is not my color!
kesmarn

Kes–Same old red state. Personally, health problems with my 88-year-old mother and 70-year-old brother, but things are looking better for both of them.
glenn

PPO–that’s the truth about the kochs!
glenn

Right, PPO! I’m not sure why it’s not doing a proper c & p on the URL.
kesmarn

LOL Kes. I’m hoping for a Pali – Bachmann ticket for jebus!
Harleigh

Good to hear they’re feeling better, glenn.
kesmarn

I hear Angelina Jolie is considering going in to politics. I’d vote for her!
pinkpantheroz

Harl…did you hear Bachmann’s farewell speech? It sounded like Palin on Quaaludes.
kesmarn

Harleigh–A palin-bachmann ticket. The quitter and the twit!
glenn

I hear that the execs at Sony regard Jolie as “a spoiled brat,” PPO! They oughta know!
kesmarn

Kes, thanks.
glenn

kes she is 1000% batshit crazy. appologies to guano workers everywher.
Harleigh

kes, say it ain’t so! Bachmann going? Now who can we pillory?
pinkpantheroz

Kes–All bachmann wants for Christmas is to bomb Iran, bomb Iran, bomb Iran!
glenn

kes, a spoiled brat is just the ticket for egomaniacal pollies!
pinkpantheroz

Oh, PPO…they have a “deep bench” as they say in baseball. So many GOPers to pillory, so little time!
kesmarn

glenn, isn’t that a Beach Boys song? Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran?
pinkpantheroz

Those execs are the ones who sound like spoiled brats, PPO! I think Jolie has her values in order, no?
kesmarn

PPO–yup! Made even more famous by grumpy mccain.
glenn

I think Joni Ernst will try to follow the Bachmann act. Her call to baggers to march on DC only drew 40 people. LMAO
Harleigh

glenn, like the broken clock, McCain was actually right for once this past week, no? Did you catch his speech on torture?
kesmarn

Time out for a coffee and ciggie cough cough.
pinkpantheroz

Joni really fits the mold, doesn’t she Harl? Jes’ a cute lil old hog castrater for the Lord!
kesmarn

Kes–yes I did. Did you catch Jon Stewart’s bit about mccain? It was hilarious, but he did give mccain credit for being sane.
glenn

I saw that, glenn! The puppet bit was awesome.
kesmarn

PPO, got the coffee on here too. No ciggies though — although this budget debate is enough to make me start smoking.
kesmarn

Kes and Harleigh–joni would make a great CIA agent with all her hog castrating skills!
glenn

McCain is a bully and a coward from the bottom of his Navy cadet class and the very worst fighter pilot the Navy ever put in a plane. He was never shot down. He crashed his fifth plane in a war zone causing his own injuries and was rescued by North Vietnamese before the Viet Cong or the local people could get to him.
Harleigh

I hear you, Harl. I’m really no fan of his, but he did nail it on calling out Bush and Cheney on torture this past week. It was impressive.
kesmarn

He was finally ashamed to be called a nazi. I am too.
Harleigh

glenn, d’you suppose she waterboarded those hogs first and then castrated them?
kesmarn

Now I know how the German people felt after WWII.
Harleigh

Did you see that Cheney threw Dubya under the bus? Said that any claims that he didn’t know what was going on are “crap.” Said they talked about it. Often. They’re starting to devour each other now!
kesmarn

Kes–saw Bernie Sanders on TRM tonight. As usual, he cut through the BS.
glenn

glenn, can you kinda summarize? I missed that.
kesmarn

Kes–Nah, if you waterboard them first, they don’t squeal as much!
glenn

Right…the squealing was probably the best part for her… Whatta weirdo.
kesmarn

For a while I was thinking Bernie should keep a low profile re: the 2016 elections. Now I’m beginning to have second thoughts.
kesmarn

I’m sure Ernst will do the nazi party proud.
Harleigh

Kes–Bernie said he is going to fight to get out the part of the bill that Wall Street wrote, get out the part that reduces pension plans by up to 50%, and reduce the amount given to the military. As the bill is written, 60% of the 1 trillion is for the military. Going to try to get those parts out, but he doesn’t know if Reid is going to call a vote tonight, tomorrow, Sunday, or Monday, so if Reid does that, the bill stays intact. He also said if the Senate reworks the bill, it has to go back to the House, so who knows what will happen then?
glenn

No doubt, Harleigh. She fits right in with the Cheney/Rumsfeld kinda mentality.
kesmarn

Makes me want to call my senators over the weekend, glenn.
kesmarn

WTF is wrong with these people? That’s a rhetorical question. But seriously, if it’s wrong for any other country to use torture, it’s wrong for the US to use torture. It’s really that simple, IMO.
glenn

I know, right? They say things like: “It was legal.” Who gives a %$#% if it was legal? There could be 1000 rulings that it was legal and it would still be wrong?
kesmarn

Makes on wonder why we bothered to fight WWII
Harleigh

Oops… didn’t mean to put a question mark there. It would still be wrong!
kesmarn

Ever wondered what it is like to live in a third world country where rights are trampled upon, corruption is rife, torture is justified legally and the ordinary people don’t matter? Welcome to the third World, USA!
pinkpantheroz

Good point, Harleigh! What were those Nuremberg trials all about?
kesmarn

Everything the nazis did was ‘legal’.
Harleigh

Scary, isn’t it PPO?
kesmarn

Yes! And everything the banks did was “legal” too. Sure doesn’t make any of it moral though. But I guess sociopaths don’t quite “get” moral…
kesmarn

PPO–You have summed up the US perfectly! What a sad state of affairs to be summed up that way.
glenn

Kes–isn’t that part of the definition of a sociopath? They’re amoral, aren’t they?
glenn

Yes, Kes, Wall Street Morality is an oxymoron.
pinkpantheroz

There is still no oversight…. they can take anybody they want. This is no longer the merika we thought it was. The ONLY way out is to prosecute all of those people. Ain’t gonna happen.
Harleigh

Over the past week I was watching some YouTube vids of interviews with Chris Hedges and listening to Bernie Sanders and agreeing with so much that they said. One of the things they have in common is that they’re both Socialists. Made me stop and think…
kesmarn

Harleigh–I agree. I think the dick (cheney) and the shrub and the CIA “interrogaters” should be tried in The Hague by an international panel, with no Americans allowed on the panel. Isn’t the UN already calling for some sort of prosecution?
glenn

I don’t think there’ll be any prosecution either, Harleigh. Unless some of the sociopaths stray out of the country and get arrested. It would be lovely to see them at the Hague.
kesmarn

Jinx, glenn!
kesmarn

Evening all
sillylittleme

hey, SLM
pinkpantheroz

Hey, SLM! How are you?
kesmarn

Derivatives are now legal and no regulation with the gubmint guarantee against any losses, repeat of 07 – 09. Are they fucking kidding??
Harleigh

fine kes and you?
sillylittleme

Evening, SLM
glenn

Harleigh, if they fail again, I hope the gummint leaves them to rot
pinkpantheroz

Doing well, SLM. Although less than thrilled with this potential budget bill in Congress!
kesmarn

Harleigh–unfortunately they are not kidding. This is what they’ve been working for the past five years.
glenn

Harleigh – they are trying to repay their “supporters”
sillylittleme

PPO, this pending budget bill puts the taxpayers back on the hook again if the big banks fail. Bummer…
kesmarn

Kes – couldn’t agree more…
sillylittleme

It will not be that way now PPO, this legislation puts it all on us again.
Harleigh

I thought the baggers were going to hold out against the wall street giveaway
sillylittleme

D’ya know why the USSR finally collapsed? Because they went bankrupt. Ifwe’re not careful ,get ready to say cheerio to the United States.
pinkpantheroz

Perhaps some of you can answer this question. Does the President still have the authority to do “line item” vetos?
glenn

And glenn, I think you mentioned the provision about pensions. That hasn’t gotten a lot of attention, but this bill allows for current retirees pensions to be slashed.
kesmarn

Don’t know, glenn, but sure hope so.
pinkpantheroz

He’ll need a machete to carve out this bill.
Harleigh

Combine Harvester, Harleigh!
pinkpantheroz

LOL
Harleigh

Pink – we won’t go bankrupt until the rest of the world stops taking our currency, we always print more.
sillylittleme

I’m not sure, glenn, but he doesn’t seem inclined to veto it. He seems to be urging its passage. Is there something I’m missing? I find this disappointing.
kesmarn

Kes–No, the pensions haven’t gotten a lot of attention. In fact, Sanders’ interview with Maddow was the first I heard of it.
glenn

slm, keep an eye on the Chinese.
pinkpantheroz

Pink – keep an eye on the world bank…
sillylittleme

slm, right
pinkpantheroz

I’d heard about it yesterday, glenn and was appalled. My 92 year old Dad might be one of those affected by the pension cuts. How do you find a new source of income at 92?
kesmarn

Kes–I agree. I hate to sound like an “emoprog”, but I don’t understand why PBO isn’t fighting these provisions.
glenn

I hear you, glenn. This was the first time I was somewhat shaken… I hope he can give a mighty good explanation.
kesmarn

glenn, what I wan to know is why Dems are throwing POTUS under the bus?
pinkpantheroz

BRB
kesmarn

BRB as well
pinkpantheroz

Kes – this round the dems and Obama did not want to fight and figured they would be blamed for the gubmint shutdown. Did you ever in your wildest dreams think that Cruz and Warren would agree on something?
Harleigh

PPO–Wish I could answer your question, but I’m completely baffled by some Dems’ responses lately. Especially during the recent midterms-a bunch of spineless cowards who could have been touting all of the good PBO and the Dems have done. Instead they ran like scared rabbits with carrots up their asses!
glenn

Strange bedfellows for sure, Harl!
kesmarn

Harleigh–I missed it. What do cruz and Warren agree on?
glenn

And then I think there are Dems like Warren who feel that urging the passage of this budget bill is a sell out to Wall Street.
kesmarn

Whenit crashes this time we won’t have a PBO to put it back together. Theocracy here we come.
Harleigh

kes – because it is
sillylittleme

glenn, I think Harleigh and Warren are both saying that this budget bill smells. Did I get that right, Harl?
kesmarn

Kes–I admire Warren tremendously. But she can’t do it all by herself. She needs more and more Dems to stand with her, so the repugnants can’t just take potshots at her, which they’re doing more and more lately.
glenn

glenn – that this bill is a sellout to wallstreet.
Harleigh

Harleigh–so we have the beginnings of “bipartanship”?
glenn

I agree, glenn. If they can cast Warren as a lone crank, her message will be lost. I think Pelosi supported her this past week, no?
kesmarn

Pelosi turned on the bill and PBO for supporting it. Sure took everyone off the torture thing.
Harleigh

Kes–yes, you’re right. Pelosi did stand up–where are the rest of the Dems? What was the Dem count in the House who voted for this bill?
glenn

I’ll have to check on that, glenn. Gimme just a sec here..,
kesmarn

too many, and some of the teabags supported it also too.
Harleigh

It passed 219 to 206. 57 Dems crossed the aisle to vote with the GOP.
kesmarn

So if those dems had voted no then THEY would have shut down the gubmint this time. FUCK!
Harleigh

Kes–thanks for the info. Spineless ass Dems. I think they should have voted to stop it in the House, but then I’m not up for re-election.
glenn

I think the plan was to change it in the senate. Didn’t happen so over the cliff we go.
Harleigh

Harleigh–I think you’ve hit the dilemma of the Dems right on the head. Either vote for this piece of garbage, or shut the government down.
glenn

The next two years are going to suck!!
sillylittleme

Smells like a boatload of dead fish but yeah, that is how I see it.
Harleigh

I’m reading that both Biden and Obama were making personal calls urging people to vote for it. I confess I’m baffled. Do they think that things will only get worse after the all GOP Congress is sworn in in January and we should take what we can get now?
kesmarn

Harleigh–according to Sanders, there are still people working on changing it. Reid hasn’t called for a vote yet. But, even if the Senate DOES change it, then it has to go back to the House, and I don’t think the House wants to stick around to work.
glenn

And we know it’s not going to get vetoed…
kesmarn

kes – basically yes. But I am hardly as smart as PBO so we will have to wait and see.
Harleigh

Kes–I’m baffled with you. And extremely disappointed for the first time.
glenn

I have the same feeling, Harleigh. I hope he makes a solid case soon — because Nancy Pelosi really got thrown under the bus on this one.
kesmarn

Harleigh–I sure hope PBO has something up his sleeve to pull this one out!
glenn

Do I see KT and Murph in the house?
kesmarn

Hey, Ad, can I tell folk what we’re up to?
pinkpantheroz

We’re talking about the budget bill, guys, and wondering about the Pelosi-Obama split and possible reasons for it….
kesmarn

In the meantime the Bush cabal should be rounded up and rendered to the Hague, then cancel their pasports and visas! LOL
Harleigh

PPO, I think AdLib was going to be in and out this evening. Family obligations and such…
kesmarn

You all get Murph and KT caught up. BRB
glenn

Hey folks! Sorry I can’t stay. I hope you are all well. I just wanted to give Ad Lib a heads up. I won’t be able to do the music thread tomorrow. Just wanted to let you know.

sillylittleme

Murph, what is your take? That Biden/Obama just felt that this was the best deal they were going to get and they’d better go with it before the new Congress is sworn in?
kesmarn

harleigh – spot on
sillylittleme

SLM…But they will be ok…and that is ALL that counts.
murphthesurf3

murph – that’s what they think…
sillylittleme

Kes…I think your take is correct…the best they could get…..
murphthesurf3

SLM – just for you darlin, at least we’ll have music in our cave right?? LOL
Harleigh

harleigh – lots of it!!!!
sillylittleme

Apparently there were parts of this bill that were virtually (or maybe literally) written by Jamie Dimon of Citigroup.
kesmarn

By a vote of 219-206, the House sent the bill to the Senate, where a similar debate may break out between liberal Democrats and the White House. The vote split Democratic leaders, with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) opposing the bill and criticizing the White House, but Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) backing it. Fifty-seven Democrats voted for the bill, while 139 opposed it. Conservative Republicans, meanwhile, opposed the bill for not doing more to curtail President Obama’s executive actions on immigration. While 162 Republicans voted for the bill, 67 rejected it.

murphthesurf3

I read that, Harleigh. Here the guy is — battling throat cancer — and still whole-heartedly dedicated to the worship of the almighty dollar.
kesmarn

Exactly, Murph. The taxpayers are back on the hook if there’s another crash.
kesmarn

guess who i’m rooting for in that fighr kes? muhahaha

I saw that too, Murph. Multi-employer pensions can slash benefits for current retirees. Unprecedented.

murphthesurf3

Are You A Nazi?: A Ten Question Quiz For Conservatives
This short, ten question quiz is designed to help conservatives find out how much of the American Nazi Party platform they agree with.

Harleigh

Harleigh, I don’t think a lot of them even need 10 questions. The Ohio GOP guy who ran against Marcy Kaptur a few years ago dressed up as a Nazi for weekend war games!
kesmarn

Is Ad Lib here tonight?
murphthesurf3

Hey Murph–just got back. What is your take on the Senate changing this bill?
glenn

Murph, he’s going to be kind of in and out of Vox because of some family obligations…
kesmarn

Kes – the spoiler is 10 out of 10 are in the repub national platform.
Harleigh

Glenn…Reid and McConnell have the votes they need, 51. Not much.
murphthesurf3

LOL! Harleigh, somehow that does not surprise me…
kesmarn

Kids, I may have to bail out in a few minutes but please feel free to stay and discuss as long as you want.
kesmarn

Murph–We truly are doomed!

sillylittleme

The only thing I can figure out is that PBO and the rest of the Dems are hoping that this will create such a backlash in the country that we will somehow get back to less right. It’s going to take a generatin or so, IMO, to even get close to the middle again. Or, we’re just going to go farther to the right, in which case…..

Hillary wins the Presidency and we have a right wing women, militarist with a Wall Street Stick up her back….we have the look of a two party system and of a divided government but it is all a sham.
murphthesurf3

Murph–I asked this question before you came, but I would love to hear your answer. Do you think PBO will “line item veto” any of this bill?
glenn

murph – that seems to be our fate…
sillylittleme

Murph–so sad.
glenn

Glenn…the president does not have line item veto authority. All or nothing.
murphthesurf3

Murph–Thanks, I knew you’d have the answer. Of course, that makes it even worse. Why do you think he is supporting this bill?
glenn

It is the deal he has to make to keep from fighting Continuing Resolutions on every aspect of the budget….even so the immigration EO is going to be held hostage.
murphthesurf3

All–here’s another one of my naive, stupid questions. If this bill passes, and the banks “fail” again, is the government obligated to pay them? Or can the government “just say no”?

Big money has clearly won and now they are sealing their victory in amber. These steps are so obvious, so over the top, so obnoxious….that it is pretty clear they fear nothing and no one. ACA will go down, the immigration EO will be made impossible enforce….it is all coming.
